2015 and another BTCC season is upon us, with another classic on the cards. Six manufacturer constructors including the new Subaru estates, multiple manufacturers, and a capacity 32 car grid!

After a vintage 2014 season, which featured full grids of 30 NGTC cars across the country, the BTCC will return for 2015. At this very early stage, the dust is still settling on Colin Turkingtons triumph at Brands Hatch that got him and WSR a second BMW BTCC title, however we kick off this thread with news of something a bit different... Infiniti to BTCC!

*OP will be updated throughout winter as more information is posted*

Some news in past couple days: Menu, Welch, Stockton all committed to next year, good to hear.

It's good to see Welch back in next season, but I really hope he can find a big name sponsor to provide some more resources as he just doesn't have what he needs to really develop that Proton

That and, the Proton probably just is a bit crap

To be fair, yeah. I so want to see it do well because Proton, and not a car we get in the US and another make up near the sharp end of the grid.

Protons reputation is soo bad count yourself lucky.

I would rather see Citroen or Peugeot join in and Alfa Romeo is a must.

I'd like to see Alfa, Renault, Vauxhall and Volvo.

Aidens getting an a class for next year and cicely are looking for someone to run a 3rd Merc they built.

They built 3? Thought it was just two. Hmmm. In that case... Aiden in a Merc, the Cruze perhaps to Stockton, or could see such a car going to Nic Hamilton?

Nic Hamilton may be announcing something on Friday as he's on the F1 show this week and there going to be discussing his career

I'd rather the Cruze go to Nic. He'll do better with it than Stockton :P. But Stockton did say he may switch to the saloon for this year so it seems more probable that would go to him.

Following the annual end of season meeting between the participating teams and TOCA, the following notable changes to the sporting regulations of the 2015 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship have been agreed;

  • The amount of success ballast will considerably increase from the current level of a maximum 45kg’s. The exact increases will be finalized following further analysis. Rear-wheel drive (RWD) cars will carry their success ballast as far forward in the cabin as possible, in order to better equalise the front to rear weight balance between both drivetrain formats.
  • Cosworth and Xtrac will independently analyse the start-line performances and in-gear acceleration of front and rear-wheel drive cars with a view to more equalising them through engine management programming.
  • All engines have now been re-tested and re-validated by both TOCA and an independent specialist company – this will result in a boost level being set for each car/engine type for the season. As the larger amount of success ballast will have a greater effect than before, the lap-time boost level adjustment can be dropped.
  • Each car must still use the Dunlop Sport Maxx ‘Soft Tyre’ for one race per 9 events* but each car must use them three times in race 1, three times in race 2 and three times in race 3 during the course of the season. (*Thruxton event does not apply as the soft tyre is not used at the venue)
  • The grid for race 2 at each event will be set in the order of the fastest lap times achieved in race 1. If during race 1 a driver changes one or more tyres of the same type then any quicker lap time (if achieved) after that tyre change will be discounted.
  • It is anticipated that The Jack Sears Trophy will be awarded to the top ‘Rookie Driver’, providing enough new drivers enter to make it worthwhile. Otherwise it will be awarded to the top single-car team of the year.

Interesting.

VERY interesting.

Sadly they've not invoked this clause:-

- Subsequent to a win margin greater than 0.001s, achieved by a vechicle with a drive-train of an opposing type to Jason Plato, gaffer tape will be used in order silence the aforementioned driver prior to any press conference or interview.

This is the most interesting thing out of all this for me. We could potentially see some different people on pole in race 2. Imagine a wet, but drying track. We could have a brave driver such as Austin put on slicks before the race and set a flyer right at the end of the race

Also incentive for those delayed earlier to come back out potentially?
