Very nice Bevo.

I have to admit, I've been in two minds whether to keep the CSPs, given that they are so cumbersome to attach to the Playseat, & that I'm perfectly happy with the G25 pedals. Your simple & elegant solution inspires me to give the CSPs another try.

One thing I've noticed, is that the CSPs are a little uncomfortable to rest your feet on when you're not actually on the pedals. This is because of the "frame" that runs down the sides of the pedal unit. I find this a problem with games that do not utilize the clutch. With the G25 pedals you can comfortably rest your left foot off to the side.

Thx for the info. Do you recall what section of the hardware store carried this bracket? I'm stuck here with the big boys HD and Lowes, all the mom & pop hardware stores sadly are run out of town. So was this general hardware (where they have the nuts and bolts, those slide out drawers holding other misc. hardware, etc.., or was this a speciality item in another area?

I bought mine at a local small hardware store. Just tell them you need a
12inch x 1 1/8 inch mending plate. They should be able to at least lead you in the right direction. I actually found the model online to order its N220-335. If you type that in google it will come up and just make sure that it has all the holes in a straight line.

I also noticed how it's hard to find somewhere to rest your feet. To be honest, I love the way the CSPs look, but I kind of liked the G25 pedals better. The brake on the CSPs is taking me way to long to get use to. In forza 3 there seems to be a pretty big deadzone at the beginning of braking. I've played with the in game settings and all that, but it seems to be the CSPs problem and not the games.

I think you're missing a business opportunity here: you should be marketing the Playseat Evo Clubsport Pedal Mounting Adapter.

Should be worth at least $20. ;)

Can't find that 11" straight "mending plate" anywhere! :indiff:

You must have a hell of a hardware store in your area bevo!

The first picture is the bracket I used. It's a 12 inch mounting brace, but the first and last holes are 11 inches apart, which is perfect because the pedals mounting holes are 11 inches apart. The holes in the bracket also matched up perfect with the holes in the playseat's pedal plate.

The second picture kind of shows how it's attached to the top of the pedal plate. I used zip ties to attach the bottom part of the pedals. I just ran one around the metal bar of the pedals and one of the large holes on the playseat plate on both sides of the pedals.

The last picture is of the whole setup.
I
All you need is one of the mounting brackets, which should be found at any hardware store, 2 bolts that will fit into the clubsport pedals holes, 2 nuts, 4 washers, and a couple zip ties. It cost me 4$ all together. I really can't imagine how you could mount them any cleaner, easier, or sturdier then this.

The playseat works better then I could have dreamed of with the pedals. I really thought that it was going to flex way to much, but it's very minimal. You really can't notice it at all while your racing. The center bar is also not an issue at all. It's even less noticeable with the clubsport pedals then the G25's.

If you have any questions feel free to ask, but this is a really easy mount. If you can find a 12 inch bracket like the one I did, as soon as you lay it one the playseats pedal plate it will be obvious how to put it all together.

Looks nice colour and material matched and all :)

So, I finally have my wheel and pedals. Mocking up the rest of my cockpit now (pictures soon to follow, in my cockpit thread https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=116737). To those of you who are custom mounting your shifters, how are you doing so? I have a few shifter adapters on order, but I'm open to other ideas that may be more solid, aestheticaly pleasing, etc... Some pictures would be nice. Basicaly, the winning idea will end up being incorporated into the cockpit, and thus into the detailed cockpit DIY writeup (with proper credit given, of course).

;)

Hi Delphic!
How is the wheel behaving?
I've been reading the thread about the wheel in the Forzamotorsport.net and I'm worried with all the problems that people are reporting, I hope it's a minority.
I've ordered mine on the 6th July, I believe it's now on the ship travelling to Europe.

I haven't had much time with it yet, to be honest. I can tell you the FFB feels much better than any other wheel I have used. I'll do a full review when I'm finished with my cockpit build, and have a bit more time to dedicate to sim racing.

My biggest focus right now is mounting my shifters, especially after feeling the force necesary to put it in reverse gear. You'd rip it off of most mounts trying to reverse out of the kitty litter at Suzuka.

;)

From the user reports i can say that wheel seems to be having some minor cooling problems under heavy use and strong ffb settings. I have not tested the wheel so i can not say if this is a issue to normal users. I have only once pushed my g25 to it's max temperature so that ffb cuts down.(lfs drifting)

I only had cooling problems with my DFP playing Kaido Racer 2. Too much drifting I guess, I hope the Turbo S with it's drift mode can cope. Has anyone tried the wheel with this game, or any PS2 racing games?

Yes drifting where you constantly yank the wheel left and right is where you can expect wheels to overheat. Hopefully drift mode etc will make it run cooler. It should seeing how much lower resistance you get anyway.

Hi all. I've managed to put the GT3RS wheel rim and body cover on my 911 Turbo S!

Background: I was a beta tester for the original Fanatec 911 Turbo wheel (PC and PS3 only), and when I bought a GT3RS PC wheel w/ the Alcantara rim for my PC, I grew to love the look and feel of that wheel. Sadly, I knew I really wanted a Turbo S wheel when available since that one works on PS3, PC, and Xbox 360 as you well know.

So I got a beta PWTS and asked Thomas w/ Fanatec about doing a swap to get the guts of it into the GT3RS rim. He sent me some basic instructions and said to give it a try, and was very helpful answering my "what if?" and "will this work?" kind of questions.

So anyway, I worked through it this weekend, and here is an instructional video. A bit of it was hairy but it all worked out in the end. Actually, it's a series of videos due to all the details (and 10 minute limit on YouTube.) Feel free to skip around if you don't need all the deets...

(PS- is there a way to embed the video in this post?)

I just wanted to report that I had my first "serious" session with the GT3 RS wheel & F1CE last night. Although, the wheel still responded to the FFB inputs, the bucking & kicking characteristic of F1CE & the G25 was very reduced. Overall, the wheel felt MUCH smoother - not sure if I really like that for F1CE compared to the raw feel of the G25, but it's the clearest indication yet of how different the FFB of the Fanatec belt-drive is from the gear-driven G25.

Watched all of your videos. Really cool mod. 👍

PS: I think I'll have to open my GT3 RS wheel to fix the "wire hitting fan" problem. First I gotta ask Fanatec if it's OK to try it myself.

The first shipment will contain all PWTS (all versions) ordered until late September.

The rest will arrive in the second shipment which will land on the 20th of Nov and will be shipped out to customers one week later.

Shipment from our warehouse in CA to your door depends on where you live.

It will even be enough to have some stock but I am sure it will not last very long.

The only part which is delayed are the standard pedals which are bought separatly. I will update you later on those.

So a good chance I'll get mine before the Christmas holidays if I'm reading that right, I ordered late August. Just hope the adapter is in there for my G25 pedals.

I did not receive my adapter. I emailed Thomas about it, to no avail.

I have an adapter I don't need. At least I think it's a G25 pedal adapter- it's mini-DIN to D-sub connector (DB9 I believe?) Came w/ my PWTS wheel. If you don't have any luck I'd be willing to send it to you no charge if you'd pay for shipping. I could probably just slip it in a padded envelope and it would only cost a few bucks to mail it I'd imagine. Let me know...

I'm not really that much in need of the adapter. I don't have G25 pedals anymore (:dunce:) so it wouldn't be much use. Yet, it's still a bit of a pain not receiving what you were promised.

Just received my $50 coupon... Anyone else?

;)

I got my coupon a day or two ago. Now I've just got to wait for something to come out for me to use it on. An upgraded shifter would be nice.

WOw, i went through every page of this long thread. Unfortunately, i still can't find a comprehensive review of the wheel itself. There are brief impressions here and there but no proper user review. 1280 posts is a lot of info to go through, so i might have missed a few hundred replies.

Still, it would be nice to get a dedicated thread to user feedback regarding Fanatec wheels. I am also still confused about the price for the GT3RS wheel. Is the wheel (minus the pedal) 289USD? But then this wheel is only useable on PC and ps3.

If i want a ps3/360 wheel, is the TurboS the way to go? If so, how is it inferior to the GT3RS model? How do the Clubsport pedals compare to the G25 ones? I love my G25 pedals. Does the TurboS support the G25 pedals? Can i buy the TurboS and not the pedals? If it comes with pedals (standard 911 pedals) how do they compare to the G25 ones? Better or worse?

Is the H pattern shifter useable with the Wheel Stand Pro? Does it hard mount onto it like the G25 shifter?

Go here http://www.911wheel.de/?q=node/2404 there are all kinds of reviews of the 911 turbo s wheel, plus plenty of vidoes that will answer any question you could think of. Here is one I did of a test wheel for this forum https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=121039 and it has other's opinions in it as well.

To answer some of your questions about the turbo s wheel.
For the 360 and ps3 the turbo s wheel is not only the only way to go, it's your only option. No other wheel works on both consoles.

I don't have experience with the GT3rs wheel but I really can't think of why the turbo s wheel would be inferior. The only thing better about the GT wheel would be the material used for the the wheels cover. It's a softer leather, but to me looks like it would get much more dirty then the 911 wheel.

The clubsprt pedals are better then the g25 pedals. They are customizable as far as the angle of the pedals, the distance between the pedals, the amount of travel the pedals use, and the resistance that the clutch and throttle have while pushing them in. They are better in pretty much every way over the G25 pedals. The only thing that I had to get use to when I made the switch to the clubsprt pedals was with the brake. It took a few races before I could really keep from locking up the brakes.

The turbo s does support the G25 pedals with an adapter that fanatec sells. It comes with the pure edition of the turbo s wheel.

You can buy the turbo s wheel with no pedals, the standard pedals, or the clubsport pedals. If you already have the G25 pedals then either get the pure edition without any pedals, or the clubsport edition because the G25 pedals are better then the standard fanatec pedals.

Most of your questions could be answered if you go to fanatec's web site and actually look at the wheels and their packages.

I just heard a rumor that MS had agreed with logitech to support their wheels but MS asked too much for licensing. I was said that logitech FFB wheels for 360 would have cost a double to what they cost with PS platforms and clearly that would have been too much for most players.

Whe can only guess how much of fanatec's price is licensing (porsche, MS) but most people feel ok with price as long wheel works perfectly.

ps: This might be an old one

Holy mammoth reading session Batman:sly:

Have you watched any of my reviews, I've been as comprehensive as I can which is why it's now stretched to 11 episodes & I've still got plans for a few more.

Here's my youtube channel

You should find loads of infor there.

Does anyone know has Fanatec sent a turbo s to PD to make sure the wheel works perfectly with GT5 when it is released?

It'll work fine. The Fanatec wheels work with every racing game out there, so there is no reason to think it wouldn't work with GT5.

Yes but some users are complaing about FFB with GT5:P. But i quess you can fine tune it quite nice with settings.

The Fanatec PWTS doesn't work quite right with GTP:5. At high speeds on straightaways the wheel wants to whip back and forth, you have to make a conscious effort to stabilize it. The explanation I heard is that the software expects there to be a dead zone, which there is not.

The only way do dial it out is to turn down the FFB so it's not really a fix, it's present till the FFB is off. Hopefully GT5 will fully support the wheel. Be nice if Fanatec could provide a flash update where you could toggle and tune a dead zone.

I've felt my G27 do the same thing, but not quite as bad. Maybe it doesn't happen on the G25 because of the bigger dead or "undead" zone.

GT5p does need to add a VERY VERY small dead zone. The game feels great with the G27 but it feel almost to responsive.

The game was still very playable with the Fanatec Turbo I had. It was nothing that ever made me stop playing it.
