Assetto Corsa PC Mods General DiscussionPC

[sab001]

Just hacked the skins I did for the Mac 10 version of the 914-6gt to go with the updated Sonauto version. These are just hacked together from bits of the other skins (added PORSCHE to the rocker panels), and the license plate are hidden (although not in this CM showroom shot). NOTE: They will overwrite the other same-name skins (they're almost the same). (now updated for the hide-plates thing)

EDIT: Changed this to my 8,9,0 with skins renamed. The difference from the new 1.5 skins is the PORSCHE banner is same as body color and goes wheelwell to wheelwell. These also hide the plates (not in CM showroom of course).

and Simplygon LODS:

and the lods.ini (sorry bout that) (put into your data directory)

[Pyyer]

Coming soon ! 😉

[MrHunt]

please remove the old car maybe it is possible to overwrite all, i don't know
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

-added "ALL" fixes from @Masscot, thank you
-added @AlexMail deforming hood, thank you

-added @Wlynsan dashcam, thank you
-a bug where the "dwarf" comes back because of a faulty driver3d.ini is gone (i hope so...)
-the heavy bug, with the AI used "crooked tyres" is gone, it was an error in suspensions.ini
-made some new skins
-and many little things i forgot
-older changelogs are in my previous posts

puh...done

Gorgeous work as always Pyyer! Are you also intending to add the pit building logo?

That wasn't planned… But that’s some nice idea! Thanks for the photo and let see in next update 😉

No worries mate! I'm a Singaporean and my office is next to the circuit and I've always been waiting for someone to add more details to the paddock area of the track especially, and you are THE ONE to get the job done haha. Feel free to google Singapore Pit Building to get more shots and angles of it, specifically the night ones, are the logo lights up around the edges. Cheers mate.

Thanks - it's getting there..!
Parts of the driver's face are visible in first-person view again, but CM 'Analyse' will pick that up and fix it.
LODs would be good, but these are quite easy to generate with Simplygon.
As has been mentioned a few times, the rear lights and brake lights share the same lens, and the difference in brightness between them isn't really strong enough to see when brakes have been deployed.
Try this tweak to data/lights.ini, the difference is a lot easier to read.

[BRAKE_0]
NAME=REAR_LIGHTS_GLASS
COLOR=90,1,1
OFF_COLOR=10,1,1

Edit: ksDiffuse on the f+r number plates is 0.8, which is far too high and makes them turn a horrible beige in sunlight. Kill the specular too. Try these values:

Here's a quick Gran Turismo-style dealer plate too if anyone wants it. Either replace on the kn5 in CM or replace in the individual skin folders.
(remove the .txt extension as usual)

update is close to release. 🥳 @Pfalzdriver is atm reworking the car physics and i've already done lot of fixes to the damage parts, interior glasses, new refracting lights, seatbelt and new textures for interior & exterior. we will release the Procar with a new name and as separate version.

I am such a total sucker for tracks that have a mountain background. Thank you for all your hard work.

So anyway, I have a few unrelated questions I hope someone could answer:

1) This one is about FFB. How do I make the steering on a car feel heavier? I've got a nice CRX mod I've been playing with, but the steering is so light it feels like I could steer with my pinky finger. If I just jack up the FFB in general, the bumps become too, uh, bumpy.

2) This one is about making skins. How can I make chrome or brushed metal effects on skins?

3) This one is also about skins! Can anybody suggest compression settings for saving DDS files in GIMP? Right now I'm saving my skins uncompressed, which means each one is well over 100MB.

Thank you in advance for any answers. n_n

does anyone know why the windshield part is not showing the cover ?

the glass is set to transparent

@DaWallace
Looks fantastic but ksAmbient or ksSpecular might be a little too high on the wipers?
(sorry - pet hate of mine when components turn almost white in sunlight, especially when it's black rubber components like wiper blades)

Who is here with coding.... tinkering knowledge? I'm just curious regarding the rainhaze introduecd not so long ago. I for one like it and is a nice effect in big rain to have. But, wouldnt it be nice to be used/activated in fog condition too if someone want it ? like a patchy fog effect ? I asked in SOL/PURE discord but noone showed any interest. I talked about something like this with Peter too a year ago it was not possible then but now it would be just an option to activate it in fog weather not just rain, no? or is a more complex thing ?

[Curratum]

Does anyone know what the difference between the Endurance and Sprint versions of the ACC GT3 car mods for AC 2014 is? I can see the data.acd files are different sizes but have no real idea what the differences are.

The file sizes are pretty large and I don't want to keep multiple versions of the same car either way, so I was wondering which of the two I should pick. I hardly ever do races that are over 15 laps, if that makes a difference.

My understanding is that the only differences are visual - the endurance versions have extra lights for night racing.

I just got it
I like the handling, not sure where the model is from originally

Not too keen on the sounds, gearbox whine is nice.
But doesnt really sound like a sierra to me
