There's something weird going on either with my CM/CSP or with this car's shaders.
I was trying to darken the trim on the steering wheel (which looked white in my car, instead of silver) and stop the internal plastic from turning sandy beige in direct sun.
ksAmbient made NO difference to the trim (even with a value of zero, which should look black, it still looked white) and ksDiffuse made no difference to the sun bleaching, again with a tiny value of 0.001 or something. Any idea what's going on? The shader values are already very low compared to Kunos pipeline recommendations, no doubt due to the AG source files, but it seems like shader adjustments are having no effect whatsoever.
Like I said, might be an issue with my CM or CSP.

Edit: a picture would probably help:

If you guys need help just let me know, I own an Evo X MR :P

well, why not?

Don't be s***** ridiculous.

I will not even start a ridiculous arguement about posting cars/tracks that we own and are paid,
and then state that 'I would post it, but it is better not, because it is a paid mod.'

All of us have mods that can't be shared here, however we don't come here acting as a cocky teaser!

I can imagine if all of us was doing the same...

for the fanatec dd guys. going to throw this on my mill in preperation for mounting to my VR3 table for delivery, but, the model I found online says the mounting screws are not flush with the actual width? seems like an odd design decision unless this cad file of the DD1 is just bad?

"cocky teaser" - the very word cluster I was looking for!

Jeez, it looks like you're building a WW1 railway cannon!
you know the secret of all engineering projects right..

TLDR; "what stock have I got for this project?"

full version goes:

"Bob, what kinda stock we got out back?"
"Go look yourself FFS, what am I the godamned stock boy?!"
"Bob.. you know I can just tell IT you watch porn in your lunch break right..?"
"<grumbles, metal clanking> there summa that AL 1/2 inch siding left.."
"How much?"
"go **** yourself."

SO: Without physically checking the stock Bob said you have, you draw everything, and then only go out back to bring it to the mill.. notice that 1/2 inch is actually 10mm, but, the cnc path already made, so you just kinda scale the gcode a tad, and when its all said and done you say to yourself, DAMN.. thats chunky, you also consdier why you keep Bob employed.. hand it over to the marketing team and shrug your shoulders.. the marketing team handle it like so..

AL too thick - "Robust construction, eliminates vibration and flex!"
Used AL instead of Steel - "Full aviation grade aluminium construction, strong and light!"
Bolted not welded - "Easy high precision construction, replaceable parts and upgrades!"
Tolerances too loose - "Tolerance allowance for easy fit, use included spring washers."
Squat because stock too small - "Compact space saving design!"

etc etc..

Next time you buy something look out for the tag lines hiding the bad engineering choices ;)

Assetto Corsa Nascar Mod on Facebook has a lot of ovals including that one, also Legions blog has a version, https://perendinator.blogspot.com/search/label/No Right Turn. Can't remember which is the better version.

Just adding my 2 cents along with @norms I belong to the Assetto Corsa Nascar Mod group and they do have a pretty good Indy Oval which they call The Brickyard mod track. They have allot of other great oval tracks located in the Announcements tab category. Link to facebood page is below.

https://www.facebook.com/groups/940405266010495/

Also reading some of the current posts there, the person making some of the tracks on the facebook group and is making the USA Rockingham Oval track smoother, so he mentioned an update will be coming soon. I mentioned that it was kind of a rough track compared to the other great Ovals.

I'd love to hear opinions about this. Sounds awesome the work he claims to have done
I’ve tried it out. And users are reporting back issues in the RD thread on it.

The Tommy and the Kunos cars are balanced, it seems.

So the Opel seems all good. The Mustang as AI crashes badly and a lot, there’s a problem with it. And, driving it myself, I find it very very understeery in parts of the corner. I don know if this was also the case with the orig version too.

The Audi seems ok except its cockpit is juddering strangely when I drive it

Time for the month challenge.

Lets see how and if, many of you can beat my top speed driving the Honda Civic,
As a bonus to make the challenge easier, the track choice is free.
Just for curiosity, my top speed was achieved at Tsukuba Short. Hahahahahaha....

* Post your dashboard picture *

The winner/s would get e new Honda Civic tweaked by me.

Good luck

Thanks very much, this makes a nice factory-spec sister car to Alberto's tuned version, which was based on his own car with various aftermarket upgrades.
I'm always amazed at how big the steering wheel looks in this car. Has anyone ever measured it in Blender or another 3D package? I wonder if it's scaled up slightly to match the drver's hand positions or whether this wheel is right and every other wheel in AC is too small.
It looks pretty huge in VR, and VR is normally a very good environment for visually gauging the correct scales of cockpit assets.
It’s based on Aphidgod’s own car, not Daniel’s. Aphidgod (aka Jason Coates, I think) did its physics as well as excellent physics for quite a few higher quality mods out there. I assume you know this

is there an easier way to map uvs to an image, external dedicated application, the tools in blender are a bit gruff for finetuning texture maps. preference also for an app where painting the texture can be view in 3d live, or better yet painting directly onto the mesh? working on mapping sat texture to Eastern Creek but its a hard go.. the orignal track is quite far off the real thing so nudging uvs is painful..

Am way out of my depth here (hey look an octopus!!)... but could you use the georeferencer tool in qgis to warp the texture map image to the desired shape and then load it into blender pre-nudged?

its the right size left-right-top-bottom and 80% of the track lines up, its the 20% of the track drawn wrong wher you have to physically manipulate UVs to line them up, that and the sattelite imagery is often newer than the track cotaing buildings and even roads that are not in the track drawing itself.

I self resolved fyi, with a piece of software I already own ;) 3DCoat.. it can import the uvmap and image and reexport after painting.

testing ym 3dcoat-fu currently.

Worth what it worth (maybe nothing), anyway here it is mine with those screen APPs. nVidia 1050ti BiTurbo, DOHC, 24 valves, Side-slip Angle Control system and double clutch.

Forgot to add 2 tablets with SIM HUB working, which consume a couple of FPS aswell.

Thanks for testing. This is mine

hey folks, been looking around for an alternative version of Indianapolis oval.. the only version I can currently find is this one below..

https://assettocorsa.club/mods/tracks/indianapolis-motor-speedway.html

its not bad but not great either and I think is the same as this link below..

http://www.mediafire.com/file/8vzkasc0bmibg1u/indianapolis_pack.7z/file

anyone know of any other versions out there?

I believe the assettocorsaclub version is from Codemaster's Grid, not very good visually.
Legion released the Simraceway version (2011 layout)
And both rFactor 2 versions can be found as well (pre 2014 and post 2014 layouts)

You guys remember the Toyota Vitz race car from GT2 ? Was one of my favourite race modifications available. Little devil that one :

Well it's now in AC ! (sort of...) :

Only made 5 skins for the rallyworld GrA Yaris (and removed the copilot / 2nd seat).
Deserves more love, though. Can't make an AO layer as it crashes CM every single time, can't make custom previews (it's all black, had to cheat a wee bit to make them), pretty sure it's too overpowered... The list goes on.

Anyway here's the link :

I see the latest public CSP build (0.1.66) has inherited the terrible tyre smoke from the RainFX patreon builds. I hope this isn't a necessary compromise for RainFX, as it seems to use the smoke shader to replicate water spray.
Tyre smoke used to look incredibly realistic with the CSP but smoke in this new version seems to get dropped in vertical planer slabs with big gaps between them, and looks awful IMO. Hopefully it's still very much WIP but it's been in every RainFX build so far so I fear it might be here to stay. Fingers crossed.
Reverting to 0.1.60 in the meantime.
I quite agree- it was perfect until now. I'm not sure why there is all the excitement around rain.

Most of the actual rain effects - the drops, the water on the glass, the wiping and windscreen fogging, the wet tracks, the splashes - are awesome. It's just the ugly spray behind vehicles and how this has now badly compromised smoke generation on dry tracks that currently spoils it for me.
Still WIP though, so hopefully it will be fixed... unless it's already been deemed to be acceptable.

hi all! That's my little interpretation of DTM 2020 in assetto corsa. as u can imagine, is a collage of different mods, with various tweaks, some of them are paid, so i don't think i can share it. Anyway, it's complete with P2P and DRS, even thought i's not visible. There's also the audi, even thought it's not in the video.

Would you be interested in sharing to a league who are currently running a DTM series? We are using the 2018 mod from URD so we have paid for the cars, however would be cool to use a 2020 mod. Im also still searching for this mysterious Aston Martin Vantage DTM mod, which ive seen a photo of floating around. its apparently a german league mod, would be good if someone could find it and showcase it, possibly get it released

Sounds useful. I have been sat at the very beginning of a track mod project for at least 2 years because I am terrified of texturing and uv unwrapping etc. learning curve. If you get the chance it'd be great to see some screen grabs of how you go with it.

One of the things you wanted was that it displayed your painting in realtime? Does 3dcoat do this too?

Have you been in contact with Ilja recently and told him about these issues? I´ve made the experience for myself he always answers to anyone and has an open ear for such issues. I think you´re a patron as well aren´t you?

Yes, I contacted him directly yesterday with a long explanation. Hoping for a response soon.
I've also raised it openly on the CSP discord.
