Just finished wacthing the replay, That was an amazing race! so much action, was glad kimi came high up as I am a keen mclaren supporter but I was rooting for jenson..... gosh he had some bad luck and that was a shock at the end.... I also wonder why the team told him to not cross the line because surely points are better than not starting at the back of the next race.... oh well theres a long wait now for the next F1

oh, and.... why do all the cars look so similar, you wuld have thought they could choose afew different colour schemes.... alot of white and red around! Midland from afar look identical to the mclarens!

I didn't know they told him that, in an interview I saw with Jenson he said the car siezed and wouldn't even make it to the line.

Yearh... can't really see Jenson calling it quits 27 millimetres from the finish line if it was only an engine - otherwise he'd have coasted... :indiff:

It's more like the mclarens look like the midlands. Because midland revealed their livery earlier than mclaren

I swear there were seven cars abreast going into turn 9 after the 4th safety car, including 2 Midlands, Sato (passing Montoya), Montoya (being passed by Sato), Button...

Most comical F1 race evAr (well, this season), unless you're Montoya, Michael Schumacher (who stormed off into his brother's Toyota garage, thinking it was his Ferrari one), Rosberg, Massa, Klien, Webber or, particularly, Button.

I thought Schumacher stormed into the Toyota garage just to get out of pit lane before the onslaught of cars arrived (all the mechanics were in place to perform pit stops at the time). Still did look funny seeing him just casually stroll into another team's garage though. Speaking of funny, Montoya spinning on the parade lap...

Very wierd race. Extremely entertaining, but wierd. Glad to see Villeneuve got more points though; he's been surprisingly quick this year in comparison to his dismal performance last year. I just wish Rosberg hadn't been taken out in the first lap; I really wanted to see him charge from the back! Shame about Scott Speed though; he drove a really good race. But I expect this won't be the last time he'll be in contention for points. I'm also very surprised to see Toyota suddenly get a huge burst of speed. They look very competitive now.

April 23rd seems so far away right now...

Aww man. I gita fed up of that race after the 3rd safety car. It wa sliek watching bloody NASCAR.

"And the safety car is in, their off racing again! No wait, accident, safety car back out on track."

The end was funny though. Did Honda know the engine was gonna blow and chose to kill it anyway or what?

Haha, I love that:
Speed was … also fined $5,000 for using abusive language towards David Coulthard during the stewards hearing.

Does anyone know what he actually said to DC?

Perhaps they've taken a leaf out of Colin Chapman's book... If a car is still running after it's crossed the finish line it's overengineered... :D

Question. I watched the entire GP, from start to finish, uninterrupted, and I still don't know what the 🤬 is up with Scott Speed and his point.

Anyone...?

..And completely ignored the F1 rule book at the same time?

Quite simply he passed someone under a yellow flag, thus giving him a 25 second time penalty at the end of the race, seeing as DC was only a couple of tenths behind Speed at the end of the race, DC finished ahead of Speed after the penalty and thus took his point.

Americans are gonna hate the FIA.

I don't remember that pass... :dunce:

There's a natural order thingy here - the Americans have CART and IRL and the rest of the world has F1. If they wanna mess up the balance then that's their call. :trouble:

Yeah, I'm... uh... race-series-ist? :odd:

Whatever she's doing to him, she's got to keep doing it. :dopey:

MS really did that by mistake (going to Toyota?) Oh God...

Pit crews were out, pit lane was busy, cars where coming in, MS was looking for a way out the back I'm pretty sure.

Yeah I'm still shocked to see anything about F1 in the NY Times. I mean it's best known paper in the country, yet they don't have anyone covering F1?!

Surprisingly though, this morning they had an article talking about, not Australia, but how much money everyone spends . . . Oh well.

1// What a sweet and exciting race.
2// Someone make a topic with funny quotes in it regarding the Melbourne race.
3// I apolgise if my Ide rant offended people
4// Poor Webber, he was on for 3rd as well
5// Speed overtook DC on yellows right but I think he should be damn proud of his race. He actually drove a fair race (albeit the DC incident) and challenged Michael for a point there. If you're American, be proud of Speed, he could be going places and not just be a marketing gimmick from Red Bull.

I'm still on a high from this race but my friend has saved a copy of the race using his DVD player somehow. Obviously I can't sell it (and won't sell it for profit), that would be illegal but if someone wants a copy (for personal use, it has ads anyways) and pays for the disk and the postage I may be able to help them out, it was a truly awesome race.

Peace out F1 fans

One of the things that amazed me about the race , is how could DC take out 3 cars in the races with having any kind of damage to his car ??!!
the three cars are :
Trulli
Massa
Nico
doesn't he get some kind of penalty for this ??
Klein was involved with Massa & Nico. DC had nothing to do with that.

Wouldn't have made any difference. The car has to cross the line under it's own power (or momentum). You get a DQ if you push.

It's amazing that Speed was penalized for passing under the yellow flag, yet the whole group of cars trying to pass Midlands for the 4th SC I believe didn't get anything...

From SpeedTV.com

Speed passed Coulthard when the Red Bull Racing driver braked to avoid a crashing Tonio Liuzzi. In the post-race hearing the Scuderia Toro Rosso man thought that David and his team had launched a protest against him, and during the discussion reportedly told the Scot something akin to "**** off."

I was WONDERING why Christian suddenly exited stage left like he did... :odd:

There seemed to be no explanation why suddenly speared off... into a WALL... on a straight.

Commentators didn't even really explain it. Suspension failure after contact on the first corner?

Actually...it might have something to do with Ms. Ambrosio. :D

ITV said there was quite a few bumps at that breaking point, but couldn't say for aure that was the problem.

Regarding Klien, something broke in his car and his rear wheels locked when he tried to brake which caused him to loose control and hit the wall.

Omnis

Beauty and the Geek, anyone?

I thought Klien just locked his rear brakes, the same way Massa did in Bahrain?

Entertaining race. Shame for Button and Webber; I reckon Mark might've been in with a chance of a podium. Most impressive engine failure so far this season for Jenson. Good race for Sato, mixing it with the mid-grid teams.

Renault radio was fun to listen to, with Fisi getting shouted at and Alonso's conversation with his race engineer, Rod Nelson:

Alonso: "I'm quite relaxed."
Nelson: "Yeah, I'm pretty chilled myself!"

Looking forward to Imola!
