Better football game?

Should I use immediate gratification and get FIFA 2003 or wait for Winning Eleven(Pro Evolution Soccer 2) to come to the US in March 2003? I think WE and PES2 are the same... Anyway, what should I do?

My main motivation is Online Gameplay. I've searched, but I havn't found any answer: is there ANY way to play FIFA 2003 online for the PS2? Not even if it were like the method of getting into games like Tony Hawk 3? And does Pro Evolution Soccer/Winning Eleven have online gameplay for PS2?

Yes winning 11 and Pro evo are the same games sorta.

Winning 11 is the Japanese/American (im not sure about american) version. Which has some subtble controll differences making it a little easyer to shoot and score free kicks.

Pro Evolution soccer is the European version.
Since we are Football mad in europe the game is tweaked for us making it harder by getting rid of the shot/free kick aiming things and making the AI harder.

Pro evo 2 owns gameplay wise and the animation is looking even more realistic than before, with lots of different animations of tackles, skills and other things. Its more of a Football fans game than fifa, which is just a quick arcadey style kickabout in comparison. The only disadvantage is allot of the players dont have their real names, but they can be renamed to their real ones if you want to. Also Made in holland wont be happy, because Holland didnt qualify for the world cup they had to call Holland oranges and all the players from holland are called oranges001 as such, but they can be renamed as well. The Club teams (Such as Man united, Bayern Munich, Inter milan etc) have all got odd names, but they can be renamed as well. Probably the best bit about Pro evo soccer is the master league mode. Which is basically like the gran turismo mode of the game. You start of with a team of nobodys and you have to win with them to get more points to buy better players and move up in to the top leagues. If you have a friend who has it you can have a friendly match with both of your master league teams to see who is the best team owner . Also if you have a multitap (or 2) you can play 4/8 player. Which is very fun.

Also the american national team arent half bad this time around (due to their good run in the world cup) but england is still better and Brazil is like the F1 car of the teams (basically the best team).

However you didnt mention that the master league mode has changed a lot for the new pes2. You do start with a load of minors but you have the ability to not only buy players but loan from teams aswell and you must negiotate with the team that you want to buy the player from, this means having to set how many seasons or matches (depending if you want to buy or loan him) you want the player for, also state how much your gonna pay the player eveytime you have a match and how much you gonna pay the club to buy or loan the player. I that is bloody hard so far the only person who has come to me is Dion Dublin from Aston Villa nobody else also when contracts run out you could either recontract with the player or put him in the transfer list for selling.

Overall the master league mode is just arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr sick

Well Pro Evo 3 is out here and it owns you bigtime.

Fortunately I have a hacked one with all the latest updates to the teams and stats. I can play as mighty 2003/4 season Chelsea! Oh and for some reason the menu music has been changed to Queens Of the Stone age - No one knows.

Pro Evo = Winning 11 5
Pro Evo 2 = Winning 11 6
Pro Evo 3 = Winning 11 7

Also the japanese versions get official updates. My friend has winning 11 6 final evolution. It has some gameplay tweaks and updated stats. Although I like the home hacks, they can add a better sense of realism to the game.
