@Mat123: Upgrade your car and focus on power. Once you get more money and level up a bit, buy 4WD cars as they have the best launch. In the first corner take a wide line (the noobs usually aim for the inside and self destruct). If you can do that just hold your cool. The top guys with the best cars may overtake you later, but you'll generally still place quite high and reap the XP and credits 👍

Just had a go at online racing. Didn't take too long to find a demolition derby taking place. I'd usually fall back and wait for the rest to crash in turn 1. My average position would usually be 3rd - 5th.

Speaking of AWD drive cars, I saw an R34 start next to me. As the lights went off, he crashed into the guy in front of me. Easy pass.

 Yeah always point your car to the sides when you're driving a 4WD and the person in front of you drives RWD. Those will be the easiest places you ever make.

First of three recent videos from this past week:

Later, I will post the video of the first ever laps I actually did in Grid 2, featuring the McLaren MP4/12C GT3.

Allright, folks. The local Wal-Mart has the game for $50 now. From what I can tell, it isn't worth that. At what point would you guys say it's worth it?

Well I'd be happy paying £25 for the game, so what's that, $35-$40?

Anyone has fps drops on the PS3 version? Ever since I bought the game I have been experiencing fps drops while playing multiplayer but oh god, sometimes it's just too painful to watch. I can play any games on my PC just fine on low fps without hurting my eyes but I can't say the same thing while playing on a giant LCD. This happens most of the time when I play on 12 player lobbies, it just makes me feel like the PS3 can't even handle 12 players online.

Yup.

As promised, video of my first lap on Grid 2:

Also about to update the post above with the other two recent videos from last week.

I would go $35. I bought thru Steam with the pre-order. Glad Grid 1 came with it! Probably have more time on that than Grid 2. I like Grid 2, but not as much as GT-5. I play Grid on PC.

Sounds about right. OK then, Holiday sales it is! PS3 for the record, I've got a basic laptop and still don't trust downloaded stuff. Call me paranoid.

Oh dear, I just got the save corrupted message again. Tried the delete DLC method and nothing. Tried unlinking my account from racenet and nothing. Halfway into August and still no word on the patch.

I give up on this GlitchyRacerInDevelopment2 game beta software. If these companies make anything other than games they would be sued to the ground by now.

After finally disconnecting myself from iRacing, here's more:

:ouch: Nevermind, I just bought it. :banghead:🤬:banghead:🤬:banghead:🤬

Seem to be having an issue with Grid World right off the bat. It has been loading for five minutes. I haven't even started the game, and I'm already having more issues than I did with Grid 1.

EDIT: OK, got it to work. Few things off the top; the menu music isn't great, the Mach 1 jumps from drive to drift with all the subtlety of a falling elephant, and they added few things to the livery editor I like. I'll give online a shot later, but don't be surprised if I'm not there often.

GRID 2 Community Patch Now Live

August 27th, 2013 - justbiglee_CM

We're pleased to announce the GRID 2 Community Update is now live and would like to thank all of our players who helped make it possible, below is a list of all the changes made in today's update.

Custom Playlist
Previously, when competing online via custom playlists, players would receive 50% of the XP and cash reward that would otherwise be received for a regular playlist game. This reduction is in place to help prevent players rigging up “easy to win” custom events to build XP/cash.

Following feedback from the community, the reward for competing via custom playlists has been raised.

Hardcore Playlist
Following feedback from the community, an additional playlist is being added.
Called “Hardcore”, this playlist will remove the use of flashbacks and turn on full mechanical damage. It will also prioritise race events around circuits.

Level Cap
Previously, online players could reach a maximum of level 30. We’ve been surprised at how many have hit this level cap, and following many requests we are raising the maximum online level to 99.

Fastest Lap Times
The addition of fastest lap times is something that has been requested a lot. We have therefore adapted the UI race results screen for online events, which will now display the fastest lap for each player along with all existing information.

New Liveries
Many players have requested additional liveries to use during online play. In response to this, we have made the single player AI liveries available for the player to select during online events.

Maximum Laps
We’ve heard a lot of feedback, especially from Clubs and Leagues, about the maximum number of laps you can set for an online race. As a result we’ve increased the maximum from 5 to 10.

Veto Weighting
Currently when trying to veto an event type or location, many are finding it difficult to get a passing vote. We’ve made some changes to the system, which now only requires 51% of the lobby to vote for a change to occur.

Country Flags
We know many players enjoyed this feature in the original GRID and, following much desire from the community, we have re-introduced this functionality. A player’s selected flag will now be displayed next to their name plate while racing and on the event results screen.

Clean Race Bonus
The amount of money rewarded for racing cleanly has been increased.

Vote to Kick
Players within a lobby will now be able to instigate a vote to kick option. This will ensure that everybody in the lobby has a say over who they race against, instead of just the host having the power to “kick” overly aggressive players.

Skip the Level up Graphic
We understand that not everybody wants to watch the ‘level up box’ at the end of each race and it will now be possible to skip this at the press of a button.

Mod Support
We’ve made some changes to the PC version of GRID 2 that will now allow users to mod the game.

Bug Fixes
We’ve included numerous fixes with the Community Patch, some of which can be found below:
•Fixed an issue where an invalid distance value is displayed for LiveRoutes events.
•Fixed a crash on the second Trans America Pacers event in the career mode.
•Fixed a perpetual load in the Miami New Union race in career mode.
•Fixed an issue where users saved files were becoming corrupt, this will revert corrupted saves into a usable state.
•Fixed a number of issues relating the upcoming Demo Derby DLC.
•Fixed an issue where the minimap was not present in power lap or test drive mode.
•Fixed a graphical issue that effected Brands hatch where some sponsor boards would rapidly change textures.
•Fixed a graphical issue that effected Chicago where some sponsor boards would rapidly change textures.
•In an online custom checkpoint event with several players, the Player Positions OSD fails to update after flashing back over the checkpoint marker whilst overtaking another player, this has been fixed.
•When the player applies a dark blue livery to their vehicle and pauses the game whilst in active gameplay, they will observe that the colour will noticeably change to a lighter blue, this has been fixed.
•When the player has a custom livery applied to all of their vehicles, any new vehicles which they win via vehicle challenges would not have the player's livery applied by default. The player would need to manually re-apply their livery. This now happens automatically.
•When racing around Yas Marina the player could "corner cut" the chicane by a fair amount and would not be flagged for cheating. They can no longer do this.
•We have fixed an issue where the replay cameras would lose track of the player if they keep to the left approaching a specific corner on Yas Marina.
•Miscellaneous: many various tracks / car geometry, stability, string and difficulty balancing fixes.

That is PC only. The console versions will be a couple more weeks. Apparently they are waiting on the MS/Sony approval process.

Yeah, I play the PC version and posted as as a progress update for the console crowd. Haven't had time to play yet since installing though.

I think, judging by the videos and opinions here, I will not be buying this until it gets to under £10 second-hand.

You know, I was expecting some form of backwater fecal matter when I went into the game. 5 hours later, I was incredibly surprised and delighted. GT it aint, but going from Grid 1 to Grid 2, it felt familiar. Yes, the drifting is finicky as hell, but it seems the AI is in the same boat as they don't drift at every opportunity. As I expected, smoke pours off the tires almost any time you change direction, but you don't have to slide like many thought you would. The AI is a nice change in that it's not retarded, and playing online surprised the hell out of me, as I was thoroughly enjoying myself. The livery editor is still simple, but is a big step from Grid 1's, and the wheel options simply add to. I'm only through season one in WSR, and level 3 online, but so far, I find it worth the $50, right now. I do reserve the right to set the thing on fire if I see so much as one detail of football (any kind) on the ESPN scenes.

Oh, speaking of which, I think my brain might explode saying this, but the WSR storyline is actually pretty decent(OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWW!). I do like cut scenes too, especially when you're name gets thrown in there at a few points. Overall so far, this is a very solid game.

The game is great, I agree. I played the original as well and enjoyed it very much. Both are great games, despite what some say.

Here's a tip for you: always back up your save game after you played a session. There's this nasty little glitch that corrupts your save game, PROVIDED you got the latest DLC packs. That seems to be a probable reason why it happens, another one is its just simply a quirk in the code. Also, don't get peeved if your system freezes up as it may do that, especially if you're on version 1.02 game data.

But, don't let that doom and gloom above take you out of the game experience; enjoy it to the fullest.

Patch for PS3 is now live! Fixed the freezing and save corrupt issue for me. Thanks CM 👍 Fingers crossed there is no more problems caused by this patch.

Interesting to hear. Never had these problems people speak of, but will definitely download it when I get the chance.

Just gave the Hardcore playlist a try. First race went alright. Second race I got up to 3rd, approaching a hairpin I got punted and immediately got totaled. I think I'll stay off it for a while until all the noobs have finished trying the new mode and went back to the normal playlist.

Also, it might just be me, but the cars feel slightly heavier and less drift prone when you lift off the throttle now. Much more intuitive to drive than before.
