The Stig FarmerEasy enough. The majority of the AI racers are as slow as anything although the top three or so put up a good fight. And it's still the typical Codies affair of "You won a race! Go through to the final!"... yeah. 👎
EDIT:
Oh, and the Atom: dat noise![]()
And you say its a drifty pig, I might have to buy it online and give it a whirl.
The Atom is the only lightweight car I haven't bought yet.
The Stig FarmerThe devs must be laughing at us struggling to complete that challengeIt's such an odd match-up - a heavy, overpowered Merc careering down a two-lane wide mountain pass. It was much fun

Oh, so its a touge or faceoff match? I can run my M5 down it with relative ease..
The Stig FarmerNo, just a time trial like all vehicle challenges.
Finally got my pre-order from Best Buy. Had to call them because my Indy DLC code never came - the reason I pre-ordered in the first place. However, ten minutes in I knew this was a fruitless choice. Although GRID2 features a few circuits, this game was not made for anything resembling a professional race series, let alone an oval. I would have been far better served by any of the other pre-order options or none at all.
I hated the feel of GRID and can at least say 2 is an improvement. While the original GRID struggled to find an identity someplace between its TOCA roots and its desire to usurp NFS from its arcade throne, GRID2 has no such issue. GRID2 has abandon all ties with its prestigest past and aimed ever so squarely at the saturated arcade racer market.
So what makes GRID2 stand apart in this crowded genre? Frankly nothing. It's pretty graphics are pasey this late in the console generation and the writing for its story driven career mode, the majority of the single player game, would be hard pressed to keep a 12 year old engaged. The handling is more on par with Ridge Racer, with a strong emphasis on drifting. In fact, the slightest tap of brakes will whip your car abruptly sideways leaving the idea of "brake zones" behind for GRID2s more sim oriented siblings.
Unlike Ridge Racer, contact is much more punishing. Not a huge drawback in single player but a travesty in multiplayer. MP is not about racing, its about surviving. Another drawback of the otherwise entertaining, be it generic, online experience is that Codemasters locked all the cars away - separate from whatever you have done in single player. That said, the emphasis on car collecting is downplayed on and offline. Well, maybe not downplayed as much as it just poorly executed. Long load times, bad cameras and ill conceived design choices make the "garage" experience almost as cumbersome as the ridiculous story that drives the single player.
Overall, GRID2 isn't a bad game, its just not a great game. Its a very average arcade racer that is still struggling to find a way to get noticed in a crowded genre. GRID2 is a by-the-numbers game designed by market studies rather than any single passionate developer. All of the tricks Codemasters has embraced to set GRID2 apart have only done so in a negative way.
Scratch that, imma now have 8,500,00 fansSeason 4 is when it all gets big.
I'm all finished Career Mode, with EXACTLY 34,653,500 fans.
My first instinct after buying this game was to burst my way through Career Mode, and then go Online.
Is there a way I can get the McLaren MP4-12C in the default colour scheme (orange with the number 59). I bought the Brands Hatch Edition of the game which included the McLaren pack but the car is currently set to my own liviery and can't see if I ever had it in the default liviery.
C6.RI really don't know about this game.
Some says it's heaven, some say it's horrible.
Guess I'm gonna wait for a demo the be released to make my final decision!
I have the game on Very Hard & the whole pack of cars will regularly kick my ass if I pussy foot around... in the WSR events. The "top" drivers AI are always set to be hard so when you hit Season 3 it gets really tough.Easy enough. The majority of the AI racers are as slow as anything although the top three or so put up a good fight. And it's still the typical Codies affair of "You won a race! Go through to the final!"... yeah. 👎
Too bad you can upgrade cars & cause them to go into the next tier so that knowledge isn't the most helpful. I have the Hot Hatch Alfa upgraded so it's still in Tier 1 but could totally take Tier 2 on.Same tactic here, at least this way I'll be entering online multiplayer with a load of experience under my belt and a good idea of the best cars in each class. 👍
They already said a while ago that they won't release a demo. And if a demo isn't released?
Online was terrible yesterday. Couldn't find a decent lobby and most of my PSN friends that have the game were playing SP.
Anyone up for some (clean) racing today?
I should be on around:
9.30 pm CEST
8.30 pm BST
2.30 pm CST
VYPA-SQUAD_AceAnd if a demo isn't released?
Has anyone else heard the duff engine noises since the update? Whenever I pass by something like a microphone, flags or trees it plays some random engine noises rather than the air "whoosh" that CM love so much. First I thought it was other cars, but I had a huge gap back and the track didn't loop at that point. Then I noticed in a vehicle challenge, and it was at random points as well so not just reverberations from my own car. Noise didn't change at all for the tunnel.
On top of this the engine will do some strange blips, gear changes and rev ranges occasionally (normally mid-corner). It's kind of ruining it for me at the moment in what would otherwise be a very good arcade racer.
This game disappointed me content wise, it scraped 95% of the first games content.
