I got an okay time at Monza.

Currently not at home...
Can someone please post the current Top 10 times of Race C of the EMEA region?!

Yesterday I did a 1:48.4xx while practicing... Not sure how much I need to push..

1:48.4 is currently just outside top 100 and 1.9s off the top time. Early days though of course.

Check the off-throttle tuck in. Them brakes as well.

Lost a place in the M4 as the Slophy was braking way early at the back straight. I was all the way to the right of the track and still the Slophy was on the brake pedal. I also had to slow up for the TT as trhat has bad acceleratin. Allowed the Huracan to swoop in. M4 is still a sweet steer.

Thank you man... My goal for the past few weeks has been to at least be within 3 secs of the Top 10.... It used to be 4secs... And now I might lower it to 2 secs as I've been constantly achieving that mark in some of the past few weeks...
Can't believe the progress I've made in this game..

Did a couple of Race B and Race C...not too bad though. Dragon Trail wasn't my strongest track so I had to settle quietly at the back of the field. The rest was just online lobby with others.

Race B: Qualifying pace was pretty decent, but my race pace just slid down the order and struggling to keep my tyre grip in check. Had to trail home in the back while keeping a clean drive in the last couple of races. Managed to struggle through 2 slower cars to keep up my race pace, though it almost turned into a disaster.

Race C: Qualifying was pretty solid with the trusty Ford GT. Managed to nail the braking points well to start off at P4.
Start was quiet, with the front pack pulling off and keeping a cautious approach. I went for a conservative pace to save a little fuel by my pit stop, while pulling off a gap from the rear. The race leader was running steady until the final turn when he painfully ran out of fuel. Took the last podium spot by a hundredth of a second, but it was heartbreaking to see a strong competitor sliding off.

Check the off-throttle tuck in. Them brakes as well.

Wow, I'm surprised the front of the pack were pretty tight there. Good drive you've had though!

Happy Monday Everyone!! :)

Race A’s a little tricker this week, fun combo for a time trial though. The same car seems to be the meta so far as the last time we had this group, the R32 94.

So far BB is on +3 with an Optimal of 4.0, I just can’t string it together yet. :)

Great Lap @QC YALUM !! Very well done man!

Doesn’t this article usually get put into the Daily Races thread?
It does... kinda. I usually merge them pretty soon after Newsie posts the article, but I got distracted by other newsy things :D

Ah ok, cool. I always thought it was put in here from the get go for some reason. :)

Today I'm gonna break my tradition, instead of running one each of the dailies I'm focusing on Best Motoring J Sports Tsukuba Showdown! Gonna try every car and report my findings. Hopefully I don't just end up in the 32 - 4WD, as you will know if you've watched much Best Motoring, is an absolute hack off the line here, high hopes for the Evo IV and the STI. But we shall see...

That's because I'm usually paying attention :D

Newsie actually doesn't create posts in existing threads at the moment - so if we write something relating to an existing thread (and want to promote the thread that the article relates to in the forum), we have to let him create a new thread then merge them. It's something in the boss's rather colossal to-do list though :D

I’ve got the Lambo down to a 38.3 at DTG, it’s a little bit more slippery than my testing yesterday. I was also surprised to see the top time using the lower gears in a couple places, that’s not typically the case, but I knocked 4 tenths off by copying him. :)

Again, Great Lap @QC YALUM !! You’re killing it today dude!! Great Stuff!!

Off to Monza now, where I see that @Mistah_MCA has a smokin Hot Lap to chase. Great Job man!!

First tests: the Group A heroes, Lancer Evo IV and Impreza 22B STI

Warmup in the Impreza, 10 laps. The fastest was a 1.06.552, with another 5 hundredths available with my optimal. This is fairly close to my friend's 1.05.302 in the R32 that I am using for reference. Usually I can beat his times in road cars.

Evidently it's not the quickest around here. The car will punish you heavily for late braking with heaps on understeer, but it is really torquey and will leap out of the corners with the correct line. T3 (or 5 depending on your outlook on life) is a little skechy just lifting. Have to lift really early and it's easy to scrub the line through the next corner if you are early on the power.

handbraking through the hairpins - fun, but ineffective. You can tap handbrake as you turn in on any of the hairpins, and smash the power and get through easy. Why is this information useful? I dunno. Maybe you wanna 'defend' or you're a bored backmarker...

Onto the EVO, and first impressions are that it feels quicker on the straights, however a couple of laps on I did not think I'd be breaking 1.07, but a lap 7 I can only describe as just about perfect, netted. 1.06.993, slower than the STI lap which was far from optimal.

The same problems the Impreza faced were bigger here. T3 extremely easy to scrub if you are carrying speed, braking for the hairpins must be dead on, else you will understeer. The rear is looser than the STI and front biased brakes seemed to really upset the car, whereas the Impreza handled -2 just fine.

If you are wanting to go 4wd/not Nissan for this race, the Impreza seems the better pick. I did not play with the torque distribution, which the Evo doesn't have, but might come back for a heavily rear biased trial after I've tried a few more cars.

Now onto the RWD offerings...

Staying out of C. People are dumb.
Pray you don't get a McLaren or a mustang behind at the start. They will dive like assholes. Last one who tried got taken out by me the very next lap on the straight police style.
I'm done playing nice.

On the other hand, had great fun on B.
Clean racing for the most part. Mistakes can happen, but nothing like the ******** you'll see on C... they do it on purpose on that one

Let's try the MRs! MR = Racecar = Quick, right?

First up, the NSX. Not that one, the old one that people actually liked. Something Something Ayrton Senna something something make it stiffer.

Best lap: 1.07.180

How to describe this car? Fun is a good start! Driving position, as you may know, is excellent so visibility is certainly a plus. You can BLAST through the middle sector, under the Dunlop bridge, in this car. Barely even a lift off in 2nd gear. Beware of the car oversteering as you go flat out over bumps.

The essential weakness of this car seemed to be turn 1, and the penultimate turn. Had to really lean on the brakes to get into the first hairpin and it's super easy to go wide on exit. The last hairpin wants first gear and the throw back up to 2nd gear feels really, really long. Like stupid long.

Definitely fun, though clearly not the quickest for my driving style. If you are good at tight hairpins you might get along with it, but it will be a wrestling match to get the best time out of this car. Very fun though, I forgot how much fun this car is.

Plus, choose from 4 different shades of white! Only Honda, lmao...

Toyota MR2

Best lap: 1.06.62X

Ah, much more to my liking. Most of my laps were 1.07.xxx but she doesn't punish mistakes like the cars I've tested so far. I think it is quick through the same parts as the Honda (Dunlop bridge and the straights) but suffers less in the hairpins as it will happily navigate them in 2nd.

I can go way quicker with the MR-2 for sure. I love this car so I sort of closed my mind and drove with my heart, and on my fastest lap i did something through t1 that was really really quick but I didn't really pay much attention and, despite 8 laps studying the ghost and going faster through the rest of the track, I couldn't beat that lap.

Lesson learned: t1 is very, very important to a good time. Pretty much the whole track flows from that turn in, so it is very hard to make up time if you lose it through there.

i will definitely race the MR2 in here, it is super agile and the gearbox is perfect. If you feel like going MR/Not Nissan, try it out.

FR cars next!

Yup, that is one SMOKIN Hot Lap @Mistah_MCA , holy smokes that’s fast bro!! I could barely get within a second of it. Most excellent lap man!! That’s gonna be a fun one to chase this week.

Best I’ve got so far is a 47.7 in the GT-R, TCS 0, BB 0. :)
i wont qualified Monza i want to race it from the back trying different cars and strategy ;) . I don't give a 🤬 about DR now i know Quebec racers are not eligible to FIA final

Yeah. that definitely sucks that Quebec get the shaft there. Just make a second account for back starts, that way you can switch back and forth throughout the week. It’s nice to have options, plus if they ever change things you won’t have to build up your good account again. :)

No Suzuka, Fuji or Tokyo this week. Come on, PD. :grumpy:

Ssssshhhhhhhhhhhhhhuuuussssshhhh!!!! They might actually hear you!!!

Did a terrible T1 with NSX so i lost a second or so and ended up with 1:05.799.
The car really likes swinging so gotta ease up the throttle and steer with pad.

The FR boys;

Starting with the FD RX-7

Best lap: 1.05.595 (fastest yet)

Ah, she's a delight. Very quick and forgiving through the hairpins. My average laps (1.06.5ish) were faster than my hottest laps in the other cars...

She has an achilles heel, and it is the middle dunlop bridge section. Sticking your foot in it like with the other cars I've tried is just an invitation for oversteer. The car very easily becomes unbalanced as you direction, making a flat out line through the left hander almost impossible.

My main complaint with this car is the beep from the dashboard at max revs. I swear only the FC used to do this...

Toyota ZHUTUTUTUpra

best lap: 1.06.651

basically a similar experience to the RX-7, but slower. It won't try to kill you under the Dunlop bridge like the Mazda, but is slower through the corners.

Essentially, it is too large to maximise on this track, which becomes very apparent through the final corner. Very difficult to carry speed and get back on full power early.

I'd call the Supra a misser for this race. You aren't gonna be able to maneuver around much, and the tail is very mobile when getting back on the power, even at BB 0.

The rx7 feels like a contender and possible Nissan upsetter, if there is one at all in this lineup.

Next: the Nissan cheat codes, in descending order, then some racing, perhaps?
