I'm using Race A as practice for FIA Manu this week. With 16x tyre wear my Ferrari understeers worse than these FFs late in the stint   Props to PD for finally making car category groupings instead of just a one make or simple Gr.4 race.

Race C is interesting too. RB Jr needs a bit more rear downforce though, tail is a bit sketchy on high speed turns. Already some people are using CSA on the leaderboards :grumpy:

Put on the Ugly-urple BTCC Mazda/Xedos livery for a BTCC track.

Jumped in and started qualifying the red bull junior. Seen the top time was a mid 59 and thought ok i should be in the 2.02's pretty quickly.

Well that car is a tricky beast, couldn't actually complete a lap initially and when I did its was a 2.05 lol. Very oversteery on corner entry. Anyways entered the race with a q time in the 02's and then false started. Finished 5th eventually and by end of race I was getting to grips with the cars nuances.

Car needs to be driven very smoothly with minimal inputs, let the downforce do the work on the fast corners and keep it in high gears for stability. If you feel the rear going the tiniest bit of opposite correction will sort it. Very easy to over correct and spin off.

Q time is 2.00.2 at the mo but easily a hot a mid 59 in me

...only unpainted car too

Heathen!

Why does everyone hate FF? It’s just a different driving style, but they’re all fun. :)

FF is my bread and butter.

Also, its a good test of skill. You have to get your lines right and hit the apexes. You can't just rely on a boot full of power to oversteer you through if you're not quite there.

(That's my theory anyway. I can't say I'm particularly proficient at either!)

Aww, no 4C. It's nice there's a selection in Race A but I've come to the conclusion that I'm nowhere near as good in other Gr.4s.

Anyway, the RCZ will do since I'm not so big on the TT. I've never really used the Megane and Scirocco is the Scirocco. I did 4 - 5 laps and I'm down to 1:53.8 with some room for improvement.

Also, yay, I guessed correct for Race C's car. Finally, Suzuka is back at last. I was starting to get worried.

I'm taking the random number generator strategy this week for race B. First car up for clean race bonus is the Beetle. Shuffle mode!
Suzuka in the red bull Junior doesn't sound very exciting and I have little love for Autopolis.

First race clean race bonus in the Beetle. Only 2 positions gained though, the race was very clean after Monza, only 2 red ratings. I'm going to do at least 2 races per car to get a decent feel, 5 laps is not really enough.

Second race, better adjusted to the car

Best lap of 1:25.175, not a real contender in this race.

RNG came up with the Z4 for the next race.

First attempt spoiled by a bump from behind. I got to 9th in lap 3 but had a little bit too much kerb on corner exit at Surtees. The Z4 doesn't like that, I spun but kept it on the road. There was enough gap to safely get back up to speed or so I thought. I stayed on the right edge yet traffic was coming 2 wide and 2 long. One car gambled and made it through me, the next gambled as well yet with a speed difference of 40kph or less, collision. I went off but got the SR Down. Dropped to 13th, finished 11th.

2nd attempt, less kerb
HSwd.jpg

Best lap of 1:25.698, slower than the Beetle yet I never had any clear space to push the car.

That's all my time for now, got to run. Great track as always.

Thanks for heads up re: Scirocco. With this being my third go on this course, it's a different beast everytime. Fun.

Edit to explain...2 weeks ago with super formula etc

To also include..I feel like my grandmother in this thing

Everyone's gone to bed so I am going to grab a few laps in the Audi R8 at Brands. I love that track, its a shame I tend to crash ... there's a rhythm there that I have not found in other tracks. I can't race though, 'coz we had some wine tonight. It amazes me how one glass removes all my precision and then of course I crash ... just one small glass of wine ...

I also love this track. That uphill left (T5?) Is tricky. Haven't got the timing down yet

So here is another suggestion:

Have fines allocated to each crash.

I don't know, it's not a bad idea although farming credits isn't too difficult (not sure of exact optimal methods but I've been hearing it isn't) so I think most aren't going to care too much. If you've also been playing a long time, it gets to a point where you've most of the cars you want so you're just stacking up credits and not using them.

Fines? I don't know, one race @ Tokyo Expressway would put us in so much debt we'd be sentenced to grinding BMB for a lifetime. :P

I'm always skeptical when it comes to forms of punishment in this game because the penalty system still can't detect who's at fault. We'd have people constantly complaining about receiving fines for getting punted, for example. At least we wouldn't know if the other person got off without a fine like with SR, so for all we know, they could have gotten a fine 10x bigger.

I love Brands.

I raced @Sven Jurgens in one race. I slipped up a few and fell to last. I was starting to catch back up to people as they made errors. I almost caught back up until someone went too far off track on the straight to the line. He didn’t watch his re entry and wiped me out completely. I lost focus after that.

The next race I started 4th and finished 3rd.

Thanks for the comment ... having lots of "mullah' ...$$$ ... this would still make having alternative accounts a bit more difficult.

I reckon there is a percentage of permanent hitters. They are fast, and they are expert at pushing cars out of the way. Not getting a penalty as well quite often. They'll do anything to win / pass cars it seems to me.

A simple way too would be to delete their car. Imagine loosing your car after every race. I hope the game allows you to transfer a saved paint job onto a new car ...

But if they see they have lost a heap of money - well that is not so rewarding. As well as their podium - they might see that they had incurred a big fine, and their car was taken away. Instead of watching their podium and then immediately quitting because they did not want to say "Sorry" - which is often fake IMO - they have to sit there for a longer than normal time, and look at the announcement that they'd been fined by the Stewards and that they had lost their car ...

Imagine if when players get re-set - and part of that process was you lost all your money and all your cars. Would those guys drive more carefully?

I'm off to bed. Did maybe 15 laps, lots of crashes too, I'm still not stable on the track, down to 01:23.122, but that won't be a decent time by the end of the week I reckon. I'd like to try the Mazda and my old Porsche too ... getting a bit sick of the high pitched sound of the Audi / Lambo dentist drill engine. Hope to have some races sometime tomorrow.

I've tried 3 Brands races from the back. I've tried 3 cars, so far. M3, RCZ, and Citroen. It's tough not to run into the back of people who are driving without TCS, but should be. I've been using TCS 2, and have perfect grip when accelerating out of corners, but keep running into the back of people who spin their tires and don't get going.

I saw @dlshearon there. He was doing pretty well, then had a crash for some reason.

Agreed. WRX with TCS at 2 and BB at +2 is like it's on rails.

Hello and welcome to Reel Action. In tonight's instalment, we revisit the basics. If you want to catch the big ones, it's important to Match the Hatch :D! I did a few laps of Suzuka, and decided I'd give brands a go instead, since at the time it was before midnight and I try to save Race Cs for after midnight to get my daily gift 👍. Brands turned into a midnightish start anyways . I entered the race and had just enough time to string two very sloppy laps together with several re-tries thrown in after going off. Went in with the M3 and wasn't entirely comfy. A few more laps would have helped but anyway... my dodgy laps had me starting P8/16 on a grid of my peers... which made a nice change after the madness that is Monza .

I was expecting starting mid field was going to be messy... very messy, but I was surprised . The race starts and I'm in a holding pattern behind P7 for several laps. I stuck to him like, as I have described before, a turd hanging from a goldfish's arse. The 🤬 kept stealing my line! Ok, *technically* he was in front of me, and *technically* there was no overlap, so *technically* it was *his* line.....but stone the crows! Anyone in front of me *must* be cheating!

Race goes on, someone up ahead comes off and everyone in the conga line that was this race moved up one. After much backing off and holding position trying not to make contact, he went off all by his self :dopey:. I spent the rest of the race just desperately trying to stay on the track in a race I was ill prepared for. Apparently I wasn't the only one unprepared :scared:. I finished:

I finished with a buzz, that I didn't wanna kill with what was sure to be a horrendous fail at Suzuka, so I decided to quit while I was ahead .

SR went up to 99 and DR went up about 900. Another day above DR 1 :D.

I noticed a lot of people using TCS in Brands. When I tried it, it made me a bit slower and too much slide for some reason.

Broken concentration, my biggest problem. That was a fun race.
