I would have "settled" for ports of these cars in Forza 5.

This x100. We are now in an age where increases in poly count are irrelevant. Once you get to the level of Forza 4's higher quality models and GT5/6's premiums, the difference is all lighting and texturing. That is what will separate last gen from next gen, and I think developers understand that now.

For GT7 I want to see the same premiums we have now, only with a much improved lighting and rendering engine. The game will look worlds better and PD will still be able to port over cars and tracks. Certain models would have to be touched up in areas I'm sure, but if anything is thrown away I'd be surprised and disappointed.

Just a quick question/observation about the "using the PS3´s power to the max".
I have the old 40gb model and in October 2013 i "finaly" got the YLOD. I had the PS3 fixed and so far, it´s working BUT it seems to have a bit of trouble with some games, while others are just fine. I am talking about the fan which after playing 15min of GTA 5 or The Last Of Us goes just wild and very loud. You would think, that the same happens with GT6 as it is also pushing PS3 to it´s limits, but surprisingly, that is not the case as even after several hours of playing, it stays nice and quiet.
Can anybody comment on this situation?

They praise GT6 in this article, but I think the opposite.

1. WHERE is almighty tesselation PD so proudly was talking about?! We still have car LOD models and distant parts of the track popping in. There is no tesselation in GT6!!

2. Rain effect is definitely worse than in GT5. They said, in GT6 it's higher resolution, bla bla bla, but overall, in GT5 this effect is superior to what we have in GT5, in case of photorealism. The only part which should be fixed in GT5 is side window.

3. Lighting - dynamic lights don't work on cars! They work on environment, but opponents cars are lit always in the same way! No matter which you're using, trafic lights or high beam... + in replays only one car have lights that dynamically lights the environment... vs 4 or 5 cars in GT5!!

5. Framerate, solid 60fps in GT5 vs very unstable framerate in GT6...

6. Resolution? Higher in GT6 but they sacrificed "few" things for that. Better stick to GT5 resolution and keep few extra graphical features.

7. Smoke, definitely better in GT6!

Overall, I think they made few not necessary but controversial decisions with GT6. Too bad they didn't keep up with lighting system and rain effect to GT5 standards in GT6.

Sounds like you are hearing the effects of the BluRay player: either its the spinning disc, which doesn't need to spin as much or as fast with GT6 since the HDD is relied upon or the BluRay components being used are increasing the system's heat and triggering the cooling fan more.
