His life, like mine was by Gods will. I hate to speak for other people but when I thank God for my life I don't always necessarily mean being born, but everything which has happened within it so far.
Just something to keep in mind.

Or the millions of abuse victims who's abuse is carried out by pedo faith warriors... It matters not what religion; there are countless abuse victims from all religious faiths and it is not stopping... I am sure god has something to say about that. No? He doesn't? Why?

Ohhhh that's right, I am totally forgetting the convenient permanent "get out of hell free" card that you guys get....

You have free will and can do unspeakable things to kids (and adults) and then say sorry to the invisible man in the clouds and have everlasting peace in heaven whilst your victims suffer years of torment and probably go on to offend themselves.

We don't have to. What's more important is that we're assured the opportunity to weed out what's wrong.

If religion does not change, it's probably being ignorant.

If religion does change, it's guilty of being like science in your eyes. And it has changed many times by the way.

What about God existing makes your life different than what it would be if he did not exist? Do you need someone to tell you not to kill yourself in the morning? I doubt that the answer is yes, so I can't see why having God giving meaning matters.

You are a prime example of why I questioned my atheist beliefs. I couldn't go through life continuously thinking I was better then anyone religious.

Atheism doesn't say that though. It may imply that religions are illogical, but it does not say that an atheist is the best kind of person. You could very easily be a complete atheist and not look down on the religious.

If you can't admit there's even the possibility you could be wrong, there's no hope for you. Your understanding of the universe will forever be limited to what you currently think, and anything that contradicts that view will be tossed out as a challenge to your faith.

Guess what. I know you could be wrong. There is absolutely no doubt that what you believe has the possibility of being wrong, whether you like it or not. The Romans knew Zeus and Athena and all of those gods existed. Muslims know their god exists. All the religions of the world can't be right, so most of the people who have existed throughout time have been wrong even though they knew they were right.

And if you don't think you can be one of those people, you're absolutely wrong. It's the most arrogant viewpoint a person can have, to think their beliefs are more real than anyone else's on the planet, and I don't see how you can continue any discussion on the subject until you admit you could be wrong.

All the quotes they made I agree with. I no it only says this so go to there post to read them lol. However science is changing all the time. The world was flat, now it's round, who knows maybe tomorrow it will come out that is is flat but just circular. That's the point of life to never really know and just go with it. Religion is the same thing it's a bunch of stuff that they say is right, but could be wrong. There is no real answers. You can't just say there's no god because there's not enough evidence. You have no evidence of who made earth or people or anything really. Science has a bunch of theories as to what may have happened, but know one has any actual proof either way. God is just another scientific theory in a way. Saying its impossible for it to be true makes you just as ignorant who say god is absolute 100% truth.

What's that supposed to mean? If you read my opinion at all you would have clearly seen I accept both god as being possible and also not possible. Since you know how the world and everything was started, something which science has know true idea of may I add, I along with everyone here would love to know the secrets. You will have single handedly stopped this thread and the arguments for ever about this topic.

Mainly, a theory is not what you think it is, it's supported by tons of evidence. Gravity, for example, is a theory, and I'm pretty sure you accept that as true.

Also, religion is not a valid theory because it's not based on evidence and observations of the world, but on the writings of an old book. May I ask what your beliefs are, if any?

And I'm not sure if I misunderstood you, but I never it was impossible for god to exist, but that claiming to know God exists is an arrogant viewpoint.

I read the last few pages and that's why I said what I said. There is a old book that tells a lot of real stuff that happens to this day, it is a little strange that someone would write that. Its only made up by observations and evidence from the people back than. Plus it was made up of multiple authors giving it a bit more credibility. Seems like a plausible theory to me. Nothing can prove it wrong nor right since we don't really no the truth. Gravity is a theory and people accept it because there's no other explanations. How the earth and life started has many different views which is why is discussed more. I also said claiming to say god is the only answer is arrogant because there are so many other theories, but choose to follow whatever you want. If you know me you definitely will not say I'm a religious person at all. I don't go to church, I don't follow any Christian traditions, I don't really like the whole man in the sky telling me what I can and can not do thing. That said I'm also not a religion hater. The majority of religions are all based around a all powerful being that gives certain life rules in which to live. I find it slightly strange that years ago all these people around the world are all writing about the same thing, but interpreted the information slightly different. I am not saying its 100% wrong that it's impossible for there to be a god although pretty unlikely personally, but there's still a small chance it could be true. The gravity thing what goes up must come down is not explained at all that is just what happened and there is no explanations on why that happens it just does so we go with it. Research any religion you want and for sure it will have a main god or sometimes many gods that all are all knowing that we must respect and give us basic rules to follow to make our lives better. I forget the exact names of the books but there is the Jewish one which is basically the same as Christianity, the Hindu one again the same basic principles and many more that at the basics are all the same. Being passed down is what has happened now, but why would these people write such things years and years ago in the first place? The thoughts and views of people back than is what made up the writings of the bible and these books not once did god or Jesus right them they are all made by normal people and the fact that they physically exist is plausible proof something pretty important must of happened to cause them to write it all down. The accient Myians had many views and pictures of things dictating things that happened and will happen and suddenly disappeared. There calendar for example goes from thousands of years ago and just stops at 2012. Don't you find that slightly strange? Why would they stop at such a weird time, why not year 2000 or some other date? There had to of been something crazy that happened years ago to influence all these people around the world to write and draw about all these things it just doesn't make sense any other way. As for god being the logical answer for this I have no idea, but it's too strange to just rule out a possibility. I really wanna know who created god and who created the univers not just earth and people. If this god is so great and can do all this stuff than who made him? As I said in previous comments he couldn't of just popped out of thin air because he wasn't around to make it.

Unless you can prove with 100% certainty on how life on earth was created you can not rule anything out as a possibility. Also this thread is called do you believe in god, not do you follow the roman catholic/bible views on god. God can be interpreted in many ways as all the religions in the world point out.

Dude... You cannot put up a thread called "do you believe in god" and then expect everyone to stay exactly on topic, it is religion man; it will take on a life of it's own and become a religious debate encompassing most faiths and including all types of people defending their belief, as they are wont to do.

Point is mate there is no way such a thread will stay on the exact topic of "do you believe in god", it will stay on religion no doubt but it could go anywhere from there...

I am not hating on you mate but I will say this:

Structure your posts. You put everything in one huge paragraph which is not the way to do it.

Check your spelling, It only takes a minute and it makes a huge difference. If you do not have a spell checker on browser then copy your post into word, check spelling then put it back in here... then read it again, always triple check your posts.

When posting try and articulate what you are trying to say a bit better. The way you write is like someone getting right up in your face and unleashing a constrant stream of words which is not a good thing; simply punctuate a bit more and the difference will be huge.

Think and re read before you post, no doubt you will see something that needs a change so make sure you check a few times.

Again, we are not hating you; pay more attention to your posts and you will see a difference in how people react to you :)
