Umm, no, I'm talking about what places could be next after contracts for Austin and Weehawken expire. Then maybe one day in the future, California could alternate with Austin or Weehawken depending on the geography climate.

If what they are predicting happens and Weehawken and/or Austin is successful, knowing F1, they won't be looking to another venue for another decade at the very least. If it fails, then it makes California less likely. The earliest that California could realistically see an F1 race (if at all) would be 2018-2019.

I'd actually be willing to bet that if the Grand Prix at Austin and NJ are successful, another may be added onto the calendar. I know three may seem excessive, but if F1 can be successful in the US, it's not unrealistic.

The key question is IF. Anticipating a Grand Prix to be added to any other location other than the ones presently expected to host a race in being a bit too wishful.

I would recommend San Diego, San Jose (home of Silicon Valley), or Sacramento.

This is turning into a "let's name every geographic location in the universe" thread. A map, a reason, a favorite or historic race track, a failed race meeting attempt...something along those lines.

It's a crap track really, not complex enough. Too short too...

Just thought it would be a great race, as Formula 1 cars would be almost as wide as the track.

You'll probably need more than just a half-decent skyline like Los Angeles to have a nice GP on a Street Circuit. That's why the USGP in Phoenix only lasted about 2-3 years. Sure, it's nice with the city backdrop, but the high temperature and the racing wasn't the best either, forcing a new home to be found for the USGP.

@joetrucksv8 when i figured out i was so stoked that they were having the race here. The layout is amazing to. I hope this track becomes like monaco and stays forever.

Lol No! Phoenix has no backdrop, all the buildings are old, it's hot, and every time I go down there, there's bums, and it's ghetto. Not to mention that the asphalt was old when they raced there, so bad now, and the tracks were horrible because of the street grid patterns. They also built the Civic center over the chicane in 1991! Lol

How about I say F1 invade the Chicago area on the reconfigured and rebuilt Autobahn Club circuit that meets F1's (aka FIA Grade 1) standards? Or how about the Tampa Bay area with having own purpose-built F1 circuit there?

Hahaha, I was going off of what you said when you explained how Phoenix is just how LA would be...

I wouldn't know, Houston is hot enough so I have no plans on going to Phoenix.

The Autobahn Country Club is located in Joliet, IL, just 50 miles south from Chicago. Now, if F1 were to invade the Chicago area, the track would have to be redesigned and reconfigured in order to meet F1's (aka FIA Grade 1) standards. What would the redesign/reconfiguration for ACC look like? It has to have long, fast straightways by definition for modern day F1 racing.

No, the Grade-1 regulations mostly require certain safety features and pit facilities. The circuit would probably need to be resurfaced and widened, the pits and the paddock would need to be rebuilt, and run-off would need to be added, but the circuit probably wouldn't need to be reconfigured.
