Except your ability to earn cars is limited to how many hours you or your bobs can be told to drive around a track in circles for hours and hours and hours on end, wow that is really "earning" cars.

In real life i would you know have to have a good education, get a good job work at that job save up some money blah blah blah buy a car. Course you might get lucky and have filthy rich parents, but the few people i know that took that route spent much of their teens and 20s wrecking cars to the point their parents would not buy them nice cars anymore....

And if we talking about our ability to buy cars based on your level, well then. That is such an accomplishment, really kudos to you all that loads and loads of free time to play a video game, you really earned it.

Saying i earned the ability to buy cars is near laughable. And that duping and dupers ruined that accomplishment. Show me that you are able to buy the level 40 x1 cars and i will not be in awe of anything but your sheer insanity to let your ps3 run for 24 hours a day for a month straight and never actually play the game, or even worse if you are a-spec level 40, then your just flipping insane.

Beyond that it is not hard to get to level 25, even you mid teens can be had in a relatively short time, and only the last hurdle from 29 to 30 can be a bit bumpy but now we got seasonal events and the like that give bundles of xp in a relatively short time, well i guess kaz and pd woke up and realized that grindy xp games are just plain bad and lazy game design.

GT was always grindy, but cr grinding you have a set goal and you can see that goal. You knew exactly what that goal was, how long you could invest of making that goal today, if it was an hour, or two hours, so be it. But now when we reach past level 31 32 or so the grind curve falls off a mountain. That is pretty much it. Indy 500 not bad most people can manage an indy 500 every now and again, at about 2-2.5 hours. You might even be able to do a 4 hour race.

But then we get past the decent races, and get to the taskuba 9 hour....there is no way that any sane person would want to drive that dinky little track for 9 bleeping hours. 9 hours!!! the roadster challenge was bad enough, i mean those were fairly slow cars and a hour race was about 200 laps............after 45 minutes or so i did not even looking at the track i just was in a trance gear up, gear down, 1 2 3 brake hard, right turn, accelerate to 5th......about 1.5 hours in i was so angry at the AI and the race in the general sense of the word, i played smash up derby, i mean i had a 15 20 lap lead or something why not....

And do not get me started on the 24 hour races with no save feature.....

So how many of you earned your ability to buy cars physically driving and how many of you earned your cars by letting your bobs do the work you know while you thumped your chests and post how much you earned the right on the internet.

Anyone got a spare x1 lol.

Never knew that.
I've tried the birthday glitch a few times.
Grew very boring and chore like after a while.

Actually I was told it worked but I just tried it then and it didn't :guilty:

I started a new account with todays birthday (1997), had to also put in an adults psn details, loaded up a new GT save game and the only cars I got were the cromeline jag and my stealth F1? I couldn't use any of the online things, It did have something pop up on the screen about 'the chat something being disabled'. That message hasn't shown up when I've created pre-1992 accounts so maybe its some sort of parental control thing to stop the kiddie fiddlers from chatting with kids?

Ha, I did the Tskuba 9hr twice + the nurburgring 24hr in GT4 :)

EDIT: I've almost done GT5's 4hr Tskuba race twice too. Got three and a half hours into it last week before the power went off, did it again the next day. I think i'm starting to know Tskuba's curves better than my girlfriends :)

Can't you just turn off parental control for the whole PS3?

Possibly. I'm too tired to mess with it now (it's 1130pm here) I'm going to give it a shot tomorrow though.

I'm too lazy to try any of that duplicating so I just buy the cars for real...
with credits I got from B-spec Bob :D

There I said it.

I love gifting. I even gift my friend on his 69th birthday.

👍👍👍 Sanest post evah!

On another note, seeing that PD does not allow to save tuning configurations, saving-sending-resending is the only sane way of having a competitive (tuned) car, and a fun, realistic (untuned) car at the same time.

I personally don't see anything wrong with duplicating. I think it makes it more fun because you get a better collection of cars in your garage instead of playing hours and hours just to buy one or two race cars. To buy a Ferrari f2007 you have to grind for about 8hrs in the Indy. Another 8hrs to get the f10. That's a lot of playing. If you are on unemployment than you have the time to do it legit. Otherwise it'll take you forever to have your dream garage.

The only thing I would see as cheating is if someone is actually cheating online. But if you are both using the same car, it's all about the driver. Doesn't matter if he got that car duplicating while you grinded hours for it.

I haven't personally traded with anybody online. I did make a fake psn account last night. What I did was save my game to a usb. I had 13.5million credits. Then I bought a f2007 and gifted to my fake psn account. I restored my game to have 13.5mil again with no f2007. Then just gifted back the f2007 to my main account. Is that cheating? I just bought a car without loosing all that money. It's a car I can't even use on any events. I just got it to play against my buddy on 2player mode.

To me, it's like going straight to prestige level 15 in COD Black OPs and having all the weapons without putting in the time. You're only cheating yourself out of an experience and appreciation for the cars, and if you don't care about that, then keep on trucking... others doing it doesn't bother me.

Not necessary. I have collected all the cars I need for any event legit. I'm on level 27 b-spec and 26 a-spec. I paid for the FGT legit which was 4.8mil. Only races I haven't done is the FGT race in a-spec and all the endurance races except the first 2hr one. Once I've done all the endurance in a-spec and b-spec, the only thing left to do is collect cars. Which I'm not going to buy every single car. But I'll definitely dup the expensive ones.

Another lost person who gets it. Yet doesn't want to see it or say it. Putting the time in is something this guy doesn't want to do. Wow, there's a shocker. So he sarcastically comes up with a reply that says, yes I'm part of the lazy generation. Earning by playing the game the way it was intended doesn't seem to suite you I see. So you see things different. Just like the lazy generation. Like I said, we see these lazy types on here all day long. Thanks to your types, the exploits go on and on and on and on. Congrats on your laziness and need to go outside the lines on the way the game was meant to be played. Of course you will see/justify however you see fit...... still won't make you a high level player unless you put the time in aye? The time invested is part of the game. Invest the time, you are rewarded a certin car for it.....

Again, the game became meaningless when everyone is driving the flagship car or any high level car at any level of a player. Also credits are now meaningless since you can get any car for free from any car lot.....

edit: btw it's not the players faults here at all. We all know when given the chance. People are going to cheat. It's just human nature for some in life. So it all goes back to the dev's fixing their issues. So this conversion is not a hate on against those who feel the need to cheat the system. If it wasn't possible in the first place. Then none of these talks would ever take place.

Listen, kid. If I had the time to be at home, playing a game non-stop for days on end, I would do it. But I haven't. I have a work, a house, friends, a girlfriend, and I live in Europe. We like to go out in here you know?. See the light of the sun. I know some people (especially in Japan, what a coincidence) like to spend their lives playing videogames all day and night. It's not my case.

This game is built around grinding, the fact that 24h events even exist in the game, proves my point. There's no fun, and it is NOTHING realistic in playing for 24 hours straight. You are MAD if you do that. So stop justifiying madness and grow up a bit.

I've been playing Forza for months on end. You can get all the cars you want there (save for maybe 10 or less wich are mega-expensive) without spending your entire life grinding races, and without cheating. It's just a better balanced game in terms of getting the cars you want, because it has the means to get the money, and it has no absurdly long races.

If GT5 does not fare that well in that respect, it's just because of design decisions. And, if people need to cheat to play the game the way they want, its just because they have been forced to it, because of that same design decisions.

Hold on, how do you duplicate cars, exactly?

Don't really have enough spare time to waste on grinding credits so this would definitely help.

I've bday gifted and duped all the 20 million credit cars, that is probably where I will stop, I can grind enough credits to get the others. For my own, personal arcade use, I don't see a problem, I bought the game, I need to be able to play it without ignoring the kids and the rest of my life for 10 years. I have done this for my own, personal use, not to trade to others or try to get credits, but to collect the cars and enjoy them.

Many of us are older, we have jobs, some of us have families. and even the word "grind" eludes to work, not fun and should not be in a game meant for fun and relaxation. I do enjoy a challenge, no problems there, but running the same races over and over 100s of times a day just gets monotonous.

Hi everyone, long time lurker, first time poster here.

I don't have a strong opinion on what other people do as I feel everyone should be able to do whatever they want as long as it doesn't effect my own game-play experience.

But personally, I remember from my younger gaming days(I'm 25 now), I used to do things in videogames that would be considered cheating by trivializing the acquisition of rewards without playing as the developer intended...and I noticed a trend where I would get really bored of those games pretty quickly because I kindof robbed the satisfaction from my experience.

This is why I chose here to not dupe or whatever in GT5(I don't even know how), I like the feeling of being able to buy a new car in the game that I worked for...even if it is just virtual. Granted though I am new to the series and racing games in general(if that matters).

My mentality could easily be countered with the "why don't you go outside and do stuff IRL cause you have so much free time" mentality, but I am in graduate school, I have great friends, a wonderful girlfriend(who likes to watch me play occasionally), and I work really hard in my life...so sometimes I ENJOY sitting in front of my TV like a drooling monkey grinding INDY for a couple hours here and there and not having to think about anything.

I do, however, think it is a little excessive on PDs part to give the game 24 hour races with no ability to save...I would likely need to pause my console and go away while I did things...so it would probably be on for 4-5 days which is too much IMHO.

I will not duplicate cars, however I will backup some cars that I trade just in case PD decides to eat my cars up again

Same here. Doing it for the same reason.

Same here. Doing it for the same reason.

Sometimes, I wonder if Polyphony underestimated the number of older, family oriented folks that would be picking up and playing this game, just seems like the game is centered around kids or teenagers on winter break or summer vacation, who have the time, focus, and energy to stay on a game from noon to 1 am.

And please, don't tell me that you have to run all the endurance races by yourself, in real life, most endurance race series require multiple drivers and regular driver changes to keep drivers fresh. Even the 3 hour races.

I have driven many 24 hour races in GTR-2, the AI drivers aren't perfect, but at least I can put one in my car and let him go for a few hours, and get some sleep before taking over again. Is that what your B-spec driver is for?

i agree with this 100% most of the people complaining about this need to remember its just a VIDEO GAME

Lazy? i am 31 a-spec, 34 b-spec, geee guess by your sig i play the game more than you do in a-spec, i drove my 5 indy 500s with a wheel in one weekend in a minolta to get to 30 to do the vettle challenge. Going by your sig i guess you let your bots do that heavy lifting for you, and you want to call me lazy?

Just cause i point out the fact that you can get to level 24 and buy 99% of the cars in the game, so i do not want to see people saying we earned the right to anything just because you can put more time into a game than say people that have families and jobs and a social life. And say i want to be lazy? I put in my laps i did my indy 500s, i did my vettle challenge, i done my endless american championship indys for millions of cr or i let my bobs do it, and before that i was grinding like the wind and before that i was grinding the high speed ring in some series or another.

I would not call pointing out stupid game design flaws, as being lazy, gt4 had saves for endurance races, exactly how feasible is it for people to leave their ps3 on for one to two weeks solid on one stupid race cause you cannot save it? It is beyond mind boggling some of the design choices PD and kaz made with this game not the lest of which is the level system, you could have held out end game cars other ways than making a stupid xp grind, we had license tests and etc that kept types of cars locked out in earlier gt games. That system worked a hell of lot better.

My day one in gt5 i got game, bought a car like it told me i had to, did license tests, leveled up did some more license tests, then i did some special events, leveled up some more did some more special events, then after that i went and bought a 458 italia then i took that italia bought it tires and some mods, and i had not even been playing the game an hour or two and i could get a decent car and i had not even done a race. Woot for the xp system.

Old gt i would have probably had to get my c or s class license for that ferrai, race class license for any race car i wanted to buy. And they could have made a beat every race series in game, and get the X1 available for purchase. So you know you only had to do each endurance race once rather than 2 to 3 times for yourself or 4 to 5 times for your b-spec bots. Now what system would have made more sense and been better suited for a racing game?

There is no real reason in gt5 to ever level beyond 30, no real reason, only reason to get to 30 is to get to the vettle challenge, other than that if you could give a spit less about the x1 you could sit quite happily at level 24 and buy and drive all the other cars in the game but that one. And lets face it the 2 cars you can buy at 24 are not even that useful.

X1 the flagship car of the game? LOL really? flagship of the game for me is the fact it is the first gt with ferraris and mclarens in it. Beyond that the only thing about the X1 that is flagship for me is the fact it is idiot proof for my b-spec guys, you know how many times i have driven the x1 outside the vettle challenges? 1 time, to see what it would lap like at indy did it in like the wind so i was not in it long. So that is how flagship the "flagship" car of the game is for me.

And i would like to point out the vettle issue x1 was never going to be worth much of anything period. Considering everyone that bought the game at all would either have one at 35 b-sec, or of they could earn their 1 to 3 at level 30 then they would have 4 of the things including 2 vettle cars. SO most everyone would lest have 2 vettle x1s in the end, making the car less than worthless.

Beyond that any other drop in car value, or prestige wow cry me a river there are 1000 cars in the game and the X1 is the most non sensical unrealistic car of them all not particularly real to drive, not that fun, all it has going for it is silly speed and the fact you can do things in it would get you killed in a normal MR car.

There's nothing wrong with it. The credit/XP system is so obnoxious in this game that any level of casual gamer will never have access to some of the rarest cars. Not to mention that if you already don't have that kind of time, who knows how long you'll be waiting for something to come up in the used lot.

I think the structuring of this game is just fine for the most hardcore players. It's designed (albeit unintelligently) around longevity. However higher credit limits and ridiculously long endurance races only take longer, they don't add near the level of true longevity to the game that many more tracks and events would. This wasn't well thought out, IMO.

i agree with this 100% most of the people complaining about this need to remember its just a VIDEO GAME

Just to add to this a bit. The game has been out for not even 5 weeks and people are having a heart attack about not having every car and every event. Well they have already shown with the Bonus races there are feasible ways to level up without grinding. The game is just getting started, and yet everyone wants to be finished with it today like its the latest platformer.

As has been shown theres more in store for us with this game, yes the endurance events are ridiculous, but no one is twisting your arm to sit there for these 9 - 24 hour races when you can easily just wait for the next round of bonus events and clear way more XP and credits. And then get all the cars you like. In the mean time try some races you've done already or other things and enjoy your game, get your $60 worth!. Or, instead of sitting inside all weekend, play half the time, set the bobs off on a race, and then go outside and exercise or something!

To each his own with the X1, I know a lot of folks are chomping at the bit to get this car, the kids would love it. Personally, though, I am with you. I don't really need it. The physics are probably close to reality of what it would be if actually built. It would probably also kill the driver. The G forces in that car would have to be insane.

Too bad Polyphony didn't model spinal and neck injuries, along with blackouts and redouts lol.

Your first mistake was saying kid. Because chances are I'm much older then you. Unless you too were born in the 60's. All the rest of your post wasn't even worth reading just based on how you started it...... yawn.
