Another gaming elitist who puts rules before fun. You're so 2002.

Another lazy generation person who grew up with the Internet and cell phones. What's work like?

Next lazy youth to post please, lol.... Don't worry, it's expected nowadays with video games and online forums. So 2002? geez, I've been gaming since the late 70s and own 10 consoles dating from back then to now.

Just to add to this a bit. The game has been out for not even 5 weeks and people are having a heart attack about not having every car and every event. Well they have already shown with the Bonus races there are feasible ways to level up without grinding. The game is just getting started, and yet everyone wants to be finished with it today like its the latest platformer.

Point taken

As has been shown theres more in store for us with this game, yes the endurance events are ridiculous, but no one is twisting your arm to sit there for these 9 - 24 hour races when you can easily just wait for the next round of bonus events and clear way more XP and credits. And then get all the cars you like. In the mean time try some races you've done already or other things and enjoy your game, get your $60 worth!. Or, instead of sitting inside all weekend, play half the time, set the bobs off on a race, and then go outside and exercise or something!

I do this, when I can, haven't tried an endurance race yet, and would probably start falling asleep anyway. Don't know how many 40 year olds are competing in endurance racing anymore, lol..

I do go back to previously won "grind races" and do them again with cars more suited to the competition, don't mind coming in a place or two from first, either. Fact of the matter is, kids come in first in my life, then I excersize, gotta play ice hockey several nights a week. then GT5, when I can make time for it. To each his own, but I would have never gotten the 20 million credit cars I was looking to fun around in arcade mode with without glitching them, and am not going to put a video game ahead of the kids or career, that just won't happen.

Not necessary. I have collected all the cars I need for any event legit. I'm on level 27 b-spec and 26 a-spec. I paid for the FGT legit which was 4.8mil. Only races I haven't done is the FGT race in a-spec and all the endurance races except the first 2hr one. Once I've done all the endurance in a-spec and b-spec, the only thing left to do is collect cars. Which I'm not going to buy every single car. But I'll definitely dup the expensive ones.

Whatever works for you, I have no problem with it but I've never done it and don't plan too.

And I have no issue with that, very commendable! We all get our enjoyment out of it, and thats what counts :-)

There's nothing wrong with it. The credit/XP system is so obnoxious in this game that any level of casual gamer will never have access to some of the rarest cars. Not to mention that if you already don't have that kind of time, who knows how long you'll be waiting for something to come up in the used lot.

I think the structuring of this game is just fine for the most hardcore players. It's designed (albeit unintelligently) around longevity. However higher credit limits and ridiculously long endurance races only take longer, they don't add near the level of true longevity to the game that many more tracks and events would. This wasn't well thought out, IMO.

With the availability of the seasonal events that offer a TON of credits and XP the system isn't obnoxious at all. So what if the casual gamer can't access EVERY car. A lot of casual gamers can't access every level or feature of God of War or Call Of Duty but you don't expect the developers to change the game so that its possible. Online races give credits and XP now too, if you're interested in playing the WHOLE game you can jump into those. I guarantee if you spent less than half of the 24 hours required to do Lemans just playing online not even winning every race you would clear way more XP and credits.

You don't have to do the endurance races to get to the higher levels, there are and will be plenty of bonus events coming down the pipe. They aren't easy but they aren't a quagmire either. Heck they hand you enough "assists" (SRF, TCS, and so on) to get you pretty far should you be a casual gamer. The longetivity is there and it is true, you need to be patient and enjoy the ride instead of trying to get 1000 cars in less than 5 weeks the game has been out. It is a simulator, just like real life it takes some time and practice to get into the fastest thing out there. They didn't just hand Schumacher a superlicense and an F1 car and say have at it pal. There needs to be something out there worth the effort of competing and putting the time in as well.

There comes a point where the developers have to stop dumbing down the game to please everyone. Otherwise it stops being a game.

I honestly think some people take this game way too seriously by condemning those who use exploits like this. Even worse is assuming everyone that uses it has no skill or no talent or some other madness when thats not even the case for everyone. Some people simply don't have the time to do all the grinding so this (Along with the Online Dealership to some extent) helps them get the cars they actually need for certain races. For others, the game's XP grinding system is broken and hardly worth doing and it doesn't help that the increase in credits is only temporary. I used the exploits and have no shame in it. I'm not a trader and don't plan on trading to get the cars I want so by using these exploits, I get the cars I actually need without taking someone else's car or vice versa. My use of the Birthday Exploit was solely for certain Championships as well as getting certain Group C cars I simply refused to wait for to show up at the used car lot. At the moment, the Duplication (I refuse to say "duping") is what I'm using in the event someone wants a car from me while also backing up GT5, something I've done with my other game saves in the event my PS3 goes kaput. Let me make it clear that I worked for 118 of my cars, including both my Peugeot 908s (one of them brought in just the 2nd week of playing the game), My Audi R10, my Citreon GT Race car and my Ferrari F10 and right now I'm working for the Jaguar XJ13, the Ferrari F2007, the Alfa Romeo Giulia TZ2 and eventually, the X1 (in case the challenges are too hard for me). Infact, out of the 127 cars I have now, only eight were gained by the exploits with half of them necessary for championships. As some have said, there is no right way or wrong way to play the game and since they brought it with there $59,99 (at least thats how much I payed), let them play it the way they choose.

Hi everyone, long time lurker, first time poster here.

I don't have a strong opinion on what other people do as I feel everyone should be able to do whatever they want as long as it doesn't effect my own game-play experience.

But personally, I remember from my younger gaming days(I'm 25 now), I used to do things in videogames that would be considered cheating by trivializing the acquisition of rewards without playing as the developer intended...and I noticed a trend where I would get really bored of those games pretty quickly because I kindof robbed the satisfaction from my experience.

This is why I chose here to not dupe or whatever in GT5(I don't even know how), I like the feeling of being able to buy a new car in the game that I worked for...even if it is just virtual. Granted though I am new to the series and racing games in general(if that matters).

My mentality could easily be countered with the "why don't you go outside and do stuff IRL cause you have so much free time" mentality, but I am in graduate school, I have great friends, a wonderful girlfriend(who likes to watch me play occasionally), and I work really hard in my life...so sometimes I ENJOY sitting in front of my TV like a drooling monkey grinding INDY for a couple hours here and there and not having to think about anything.

I do, however, think it is a little excessive on PDs part to give the game 24 hour races with no ability to save...I would likely need to pause my console and go away while I did things...so it would probably be on for 4-5 days which is too much IMHO.

In your younger days? You are still in them, lol. When you hit 40, you will be thinking, "ugh, I'm too old for this stuff!" lol

I'm a couple years younger than you but I've probably put as many quarters in to Space Invaders as you have. A lot of us have life commitments too. The points I was trying to make is that the expensive high end stuff is stuff to earn, just like that one day that you could finally put your 3 letter initials at the top of Space Invaders high score list.

Yes its tough to get to the race cars you want, but as I said the game was out for 5 weeks, if you played just as much over the next couple months as you normally do you'd probably get those cars, and you would have the excitement of finally earning them. Its way more fun than just getting them for nothing.

What Car has the highest resale value once you have bought it. I know you can't sell the Veyron but the highest i have seen is about 100k and is a Ferrari.

There will always be people who take the easy road. Others like to work and earn it.

Problem is not the cheaters and exploiters (dupers) the blame is on developers who did not think or have time to figure out a way to reward people who work for their ****.

You hit lvl 30 work your ass off on x1 and then log online and see a lvl 21 driving it (not really driving it more like exploring the grassland and wall length) because he did not spend hours trying to hit his bronze or even gold.

This dupe makes trading lose all value. I dont think anyone would give away their x1 so easy. Now they are dime a dozen.

So unless they release a patch and wipe out all dupes (maybe they got same code so a dupe code gets a wipe) or all the bragging rights are out the window.

Ya the whole RL excuses and no time to play...well thats your problem grind b spec or play on weekends. This is not a marathon play the game and enjoy it.

Dono expected better from dev team really, the dupe thing came to mind right off the bat when i read the save back up.

oh well grind lvl 40 that might mean something and get pink x1 that might mean something.

I don't know if it's a matter of being lazy, or a matter of priorities. With work, friends, and girlfriend, there's only a limited amount of "me" time in any given week. While I don't mind spending that 2hrs or so a day on it for now, but I don't foresee myself doing that for months just to buy/"earn" cars that I like. Rather than spending those 2hrs grinding credits/XP, I much rather to enjoying new races, or spend that time racing online with friends and coworkers.

Also, let's be honest, given you're a long time gamer, you should understand as well. There will always be games that pop up to draw your attention and time away. I put my NHL 11 back into its case and I skipped over multiplayer for COD:BO for GT5, but there will be a game that can tempt me away from the GT5 grind. So eventually, that 2hr/day game time will be splitted between games. I rather spend that 2hr game time I have now to finish the singleplayer as much as possible, buying I want (then reloading my save for credit), and just have fun in multiplayer later on.

I think you meant to say its a Marathon not a Sprint. Play the game for the long term, not sprint through it.

I just bought a Peugeot 905 '92 race car for some 4,000,000+ credits in the used lot. I gifted it to my sub account and then reloaded my gamesave. I'm now back to the 7,800,000+ cr. I had before the purchase, and I gifted the car back to myself. FTW.

I started duping because my save file got corrupted. When I start a race it freezes about 6 seconds in.

now I am gifting cars from my busted save to my new save using what is essentially the same method used to dupe.

I could care less about having my initials in any game, or anyone remembering who I am. Family first. You may play the game however you wish. Hats off to ya. :-)

Lots of elitist thinking in here, times are changing and people only have so much time to commit to any one game. So what if they are "cheating" themselves, it's their game and they choose to play it how they feel. Some people have 9 hours to sit and play one monotonous race, others do not, which is why I loved GT4 idea of having B Spec to switch with you during pit stops, why did they take that option out is beyond me. I find that getting a lot of credits is a bit out of hand, you basically have to grind way too much to pay for one use cars, seriously that's really bad choices on PD's part. Hopefully they amend this by either upping the amount of credits per win in reasonable championships, GT3 and 4 had the repeat prize wins to help you grind at a good pace, GT5's is completely broken and makes it ludicrous, coupled with rumors of a 20 million limit on credits you can actually earn, too many road blocks in your way.

More power to you if you can stomach constant redoing the races, I like to enjoy driving multiple cars online. I don't like having to grind especially when it isn't as rewarding as it used to be. Enjoy your game how you want to, don't belittle any one else way of playing the game.

You've missed the point. The reward for a high score in Space Invaders, the satisfaction you did it and your initials on screen. GT5, the satisfaction you did it and the hottest car.

Thats the point of the game. But whatever as long as you enjoy it, just get your 60 bucks worth.

Too bad your way to enjoy the game might piss off his way to enjoy the game.

Should be something similar like in diablo 2 open bnet for all the cheaters and closed bnet for legit players.

PS. almost 40 ya here comes my pink x1 no dupe gona get you there. and yes i have a day job. go b spec! and guess what was never broke always had credits always had plenty to go around and buy what i need when i need it. Maybe dupers play this game wrong and fail bad so cant blame them they need all the help they can get.

hope they dont delet all your legit cars and dupes with the next patch and remove gift feature or worse bind cars to proper level or account...you might actualy have to start playing then.....that would suck right?

Indeed.

I'm noticing the same problem users itching for fights in this thread as they have in other similar ones in the past. If you don't agree with someone's method of playing the game, that's fine; it's NOT acceptable to start hurling insults their way because of it. This is a video game.

This thread is on thin ice.

so uhm, can you only dupe 1 car per day?

Deleted the savefile, car's still there after reloading but it won't let me send it again.

I've just managed to send 2 F40's from the same account back to back...it wouldn't let me at first, then I did a few practice mode laps at Grand Valley Speedway, got into photomode to take screens of the Maziora Andromedall colorway and I was able to send the 2nd car right after that...not sure what happened seeing as I traded the first one well past midnight...

Gonna try again in a few mins!

EDIT: can't seem to be able to send more cars atm...dunno what triggered it earlier.

I don't understand people having a problem with the way other people play.

I know I had a lot of fun trying to get the X1 with a DS3, felt really good beating all the challenges, as well as driving a range of different cars leading up to that. I've experienced the game in a way that other people won't and that's not my loss.

At the same time, other players got to drive their favourite cars without having to grind through an Indy oval race many times. They saved a lot of time, so they gain in the way that makes them happiest.

It's not about being serious or being lazy, it's about enjoying the game the way that suits you best.

In the end, everybody wins.
No problems.

man.. haters gonna hate... I don't see how duping a car whether for trade or as a backup kills the game.

having an X2010 doesn't mean i've "won" the game. the GT series was never about completing the game IMO.

Not going to dupe anything nor cheat in any way even though I'm a married dad with very limited playtime. I'll get everything eventually. It might take 6 months, a year or even more. But that's exactly what I expected from GT5: to be a game I'll be playing for a long, long time and not just for a month or two like it's the case with most games. I know what it's like to not have unlimited playtime. I just don't see why that means I'd have to revert to all sorts of cheating. It took me well over 2 months to beat me favorite game of all time: Mass Effect 2 while it's possible to do it in a week if you have nothing better to do. But... why the hurry? I got engrossed in it for way longer which is great. Likewise I'm engrossed in GT5 and will be for a very long time. As new other games come out I'll play them and I'll still alternate it with doing races in GT5. Perfect. For me anyway.

I'll get my X1 when I get it and I'll feel the pride of having actually earned it.

Exactly. I totally agree with this.

A lot of people are just seeing this as a game, when it's also a realistic driving simulator. Even after I eventually complete all the events, I still see myself doing time trials with different cars and tracks with untuned and tuned versions of cars. And with 1000+ cars, PLUS the course maker, that's infinite gameplay right there. I'm not even mentioning the other features the game has.

I just want to get around this stupid grinding nonsense and get to the cars I want to enjoy driving, so no, I am not spoiling the game for myself by duping and using other exploits.

People get so righteous when it comes to posting on the internet. Driving around in circles for 20 hours for a car I can’t touch is closer to work than fun so I can live with copying a few cars just to be able to drive or trade them in a GAME. I think just about everyone already had the cars they needed to complete the game by the time the patch came out anyway.

Cana getta AMEN!? Thank the gods of PD for the seasonal events! We can finally get some decent money and xp "fair and square". :)

Yeah yeah yeah whatever makes you enjoy the game more but the fact remains you cheated, and I bet anything you still pretend that you did not when you go online and show off your rides.

People like you SO miss the point. See your type everyday on here. The whole point to having cars and "earning" them is to talk about it on "here". .

Uh, what? To me, the whole point of owning the cars is to, you know.....DRIVE them.
