Duping Cars in GT5

Okay, I know how some people are going to react to this, but can someone please explain to me how you can dup cars? My understanding is that when you gift a car, it leaves your garage and goes to someone else's, although I've never even done it, so how do you end up with two of those cars?

-backup a copy of your save game from the xmb to a usb stick
-send a car to a friend or another psn account you've set up
-copy your original save game from the usb to the xmb (so your save game is back to how it was before you gifted the car)
-gift the car back to your main account (or get your friend to gift it back if that's how you've done it)

please guys take care duping cars, I did it on my second gamesave (not my master account) and after duping the lexus LFA, then sending it back to myself from a dummie profile, I have had issues with veiwing cars in my garage on the default views for the cars list. eg the cars disapear, I can still select them and see the car name, but the little animation of the car is gone!!!!...wierd...glitched out... so if you don't want a corrupted save file don't dup cars.... FYI

I duped the Nissan Skyline Falken Race Car today. None of that happened to me. It's totally safe to dupe cars if you do it right.

Its not like gt5 is an mmo. If somebody wants to have a bunch of cars in their garage for when they play it wont affect how you play.

This happened to me once without duping any cars. I've actually only ever duped one car and that was a 22b, yesterday.
As someone already said, you can refresh the thumbnail.

There will always be people who take the easy road. Others like to work and earn it.

Problem is not the cheaters and exploiters (dupers) the blame is on developers who did not think or have time to figure out a way to reward people who work for their ****.

You hit lvl 30 work your ass off on x1 and then log online and see a lvl 21 driving it (not really driving it more like exploring the grassland and wall length) because he did not spend hours trying to hit his bronze or even gold.

This dupe makes trading lose all value. I dont think anyone would give away their x1 so easy. Now they are dime a dozen.

So unless they release a patch and wipe out all dupes (maybe they got same code so a dupe code gets a wipe) or all the bragging rights are out the window.

Ya the whole RL excuses and no time to play...well thats your problem grind b spec or play on weekends. This is not a marathon play the game and enjoy it.

Dono expected better from dev team really, the dupe thing came to mind right off the bat when i read the save back up.

oh well grind lvl 40 that might mean something and get pink x1 that might mean something.

Too bad your way to enjoy the game might piss off his way to enjoy the game.

Should be something similar like in diablo 2 open bnet for all the cheaters and closed bnet for legit players.

Secondly, unless you've gone out and purchased everyone's game (which isn't the case), you're in no position, let alone of any authority, to tell and/or suggest how anyone should play their game. You don't like that someone has obtained an X1 before you without being at the "proper" level? Tough 🤬. Im new to this whole duping thing, I know I could search around a bit but.... Here it comes. . . you ready . . . wait for it. . . hows it work ? Ta Da!!! There I said it. In the OP he says "give as gift", I have a second account i created a year ago but never used. Do I sign in XMB that account, load GT5 to that account (40 minute load time, maybe I dont have to do that part ?), add my normal account as friend, go to normal account, gift car to new one, then ??? I know game save is used, at least thats what i've read but Ive never used that or backed up any game data. So im really quite green to this. If you give me some help try an stick to the words, lingo or language used in the XMB, please.

This is the funniest thead on here so far. It seems to me that most of the people against are just show off show ponies that want to come on line and brag about having a certain car. As far as I'm concerned the game has its on built in cheat system, what do you think B-Spec is? At the moment I can earn 1000000cr in under 2hrs with my B-spec slave and FGT on the Dream car championship while I'm having dinner or watching TV. AWSOME. When I get to 13000000cr I will by one of those stupid F1 cars you cant even race anywhere {why because I just want one} and dupe it so I havent wasted all my CR and time then I can buy the rest of the cars I want with my hard earnt B-Spec cash lol. And yes I play A-spec to level 25 and have no interest in the enduro events or even leveling up anymore. The rest is just cream, time trails, new online challenges and the Red Bull X1 challange.

Staying on topic: would anyone explain to me what's the difference between grinding 1.000.000cr by racing 10 times Indy in an X1, and duping a car worth 1.000.000cr?. Do any of you, really think that racing 10 times the same race in the same super-overpowered car, is adding something to your racing knowledge and gaming experience? Please, give me a reasonable answer about that. I can't find one. Not even remotely.

Funny enough, somewhere in the AUP (which you agreed to when you made an account on this forum) it states that you utilize proper grammer and spelling. I'm guessing you just missed that part. I also fail to see where him suggesting you work on your grammer is comparible to you insulting others over something as trivial as how they are playing a game.

I had the same experience. How ever i solved it by putting the car up online (Share with friends).. i thought it could solve the problem and it did! Hope it works for you.

Yeah, alot of people who are duping cars have already earned some of the cars we duped or bought from the UCD. However some of them are duping cars just to sell them for $ and that's fine.

Exactly.

The birthday exploit is another story, but when duping cars, you still have to get it first. And most people are probably doing that by earning the credits first to get money for the car, so I don't see where people get off saying you're not playing the game by using it.

So if I go giving cars from main guy to secondary, then delete main guy data, copy saved main guy data from USB to previous but deleted main guy, im guessing I will get same popup like before saying I have to start fresh. Seems to me if I try what im reading I will lose my main account. I asked for help in this thread once already. I need correct terminology used by the XMB, please no slang. Restore is different than copy, (and ive never seen "restore" used in the XMB), data is different than info. Talk to me like a child, I dont care, I want to do this correctly the first time.

If you get a message that reads "Load failed. This save data is from another user", it means the data created on the main account is stamped with the ID of that account, preventing you from using it on alternate accounts. If you want to duplicate, you'll want to copy the data to a portable device like the USB Flashdrive you mentioned, send the car you want to the desired account, delete you original save and copy the backup from the USB flashdrive back on the PS3.

The rules of the board are meant to be enforced. The difference being there are no "rules" involving the "right" way to play GT5.

The trading marketplace is a construct created by users here; it is not a feature in the game, gifting is. People have created their own personal set of rules for that, deeming what's "fair" and what isn't, and placing values on cars almost arbitrarily. People complain about X1's being so numerous; they would be in a few weeks anyways since anybody who sends their B-Spec Bobs around tracks enough times will earn one. For free. Without even having to drive, really.

I personally plan on duplicating my newly purchased F10 so a few friends can have it. They do the same with some of their cars. We then all have a copy of the car, and haven't all drained our accounts in-game to do it, leaving it possible to do other things. I'm at Level 32, nearly 33, in A-Spec and I've golded every single test thrown at me so far with exception to the Suzuka X2010 test. I've played plenty, and "earned" all my cars over the course of the game.

You don't like that others are trading off duplicates in the marketplace? Then don't trade with them. Problem solved.

I will be deleting original from the saved data utility, not game data utility. (i see GT5 info in both icons is why i ask)
And, I will be allowed to use the saved game I copy back to original account from USB since it was the original account to begin with. makes more sense than than trying to copy all my garage over to other account i guess.

I will be waiting for confirmation on deleting "game data" or "saved data" utility

People like you SO miss the point. See your type everyday on here. The whole point to having cars and "earning" them is to talk about it on "here". Now that no one has to "earn" anything. There goes a huge part of the game to talk about for the most part. Now it's no big deal what you have. As everyone has 10+ of them already at some low level....

If you think for one second they couldn't have come up with a better plan. Then that's pretty shallow thinking. Level lock the cars so that you can own them all by exploiting the save file if you want. But you cannot drive the car until you reach the level needed to drive it. There's goes 90% of this forum from driving the X1's we see that have them.

Again like I said in this thread. The save file update was needed. But, having it so open ended to be abused like it is was not the answer.

earning cars now meaningless.

Me earning my own cars is not meaningless to me so how does this problem affect me directly? I still earned my cars how can anyone change that on my personal PS3?
