Duping Cars in GT5

got it, have to wait till tomorrow though, reached a limit, thank you!

I don't see the harm in duping cars.

However what a lot of people are doing are these things:

a) Duping cars to brag ownership
b) Duping cars to trade, with someone
If you're duping, your cars no longer have any value to you therefore it's completely unfair to abuse the position your in (having chosen collect illegitimately) to take ownership of others cars via trades.

Also to the people who're saying 'it's only as bad as grinding indy 24/7', I feel sorry for these people as they've completely lost there way. If you are only playing to increase your CR, or increase your ownership of cars, you are playing Gran Turismo for the wrong reasons.

In the end though. Whilst as I've said I don't oppose people doing this so long as they pretty much keep to themselves (as in, not ruin the car collecting experience for others). GT5 is a career game, if you're duping all the cars I have to wonder for what reason? For me it takes more than a day to take in the subtle quirks and generally get a really good experience out of each car I buy, so why would I need 1000? I can certainly earn my next car faster than I become a little bored of my current.

I feel if you can't do that then you really don't appreciate the driving experience GT5 has to offer, which is a real shame.

Right here we go. I've nearly got 20 mil. Can I get a car send it to my other account and reload my 20 mil.

God I feel diiirrty.

I'm using it it to transfer over cars from my main account to my GTP one since we can't use saves with other accounts

Guilty as charged:

I have an old save with 20 Mil, can not resist to buy some cars now and then, so my current is at 19 Mil and a bit.

1) Back up current state (put it safe (on several discs / sticks))
2) Install old 20 Mil
3) Buy car
4) Send to not GTP account
5) Install 1) again
6) Send from not GTP account

Be clear this way you still need about 3 years to get all the cars, we should have GT6 by then???

Question is: will PD do something about it? I'm not even sure they want to do something about it despite, maybe, fixing it in a future patch.

Well, yeah, if that's the only way you're going about getting cars. Seasonal Events and general racing means you'll probably acquire a fair amount of cars throughout your playthrough, and those Seasonals will pay for a lot of cars not needed for the events too.

I'm sitting at 18.2 million credits in my main save, as I went on a bit of a buying and tuning spree to ironically enough avoiding wasting earnings (I was at 19.6 before the latest batch of Seasonals). My secondary's at 11.7, and Level 29, so it's basically my rare-UCD-find save at this point...

Where does that come from exactly? My cars are plenty valueable - in the virtual sense, or I wouldn't dupe for them and back up my saves in the first place.

Well, yeah, if that's the only way you're going about getting cars.

Even if I decieded to never earn credits on my main save, I could get to 1000 cars in under half a year.

The minimum time, using duping alone, is 70 days to get 1031 cars.

how do you get the 1000 car trophy without duping?
grind for 6 months ...btw..i have to do that to get to level 40!!(joke)

I was wondering what the logic behind this one was.

I just did 1031 cars / 365 is about 3, from there 3 years. 1 account duping.

This ignores that you need a level (lv 24 at max it seems), the money and the car in the Used Car Dealership for some.

Exorcet seems to claim to get 15 cars a day.
With 16 accounts, seasonal events, etc... you can do a lot.
But why would it stop at 15?

I really hope they fix that exploit. I like to play games how they are ment to be played and not exploit the system. But i am afraid i will be tempted to dupe later on so it would be best if PD patch it :)

I'm assuimg that most people will use only one PS3. With multiple PS3's, the time goes down to

1031/(15 + 16x)

x being the number of PS3's owned beyond the original. They get 16 cars/day if you assume that the only accounts on them are duping accounts.

I don't know if you'll agree, but if you're tempted to dupe, the solution isn't to remove duping. The solution is for you to start duping since you obviously want to do it. There is no purity or reward for not duping. It's just a choice.

Duplicate? Cheating? I bought the game, for my money .... when I want to have in the garage all my favorite cars, approx .. 200. so I'll have it!. i do not play online ........
Just do it, dupe.... :dopey:
PD ruined a good game ...Prize Car in Game? sh.ts...
XP Idea? sh.ts...
unforgettable fail- standard cars...

Here's the reason I'm going to start duping.

I have 958 cars, every one earned, none at all duplicated. For a month solid all I've done is grind Indy for credits to buy cars. Now, when you're at 800 cars and less it can be fun grinding Indy 5 times then going to the UCD and picking up 10 or so cheap cars you don't have, still have cash left over then repeat the process, knowing fine well you'll be getting a few cars per 5 race grinding session and your balance increases as well.

Once you get around the 800 car mark, it gets a little more difficult as suddenly you find that the cars you need are getting more and more expensive as there's less cars in the 40k or less bracket you need. So your 5 race grind becomes 10. A UCD JGTC car will wipe out 3/4 of your winnings instantly. It's still quite fun though.

Now you find yourself at 940 cars, there's a few strays under 1m to pick up and they never seem to be in the UCD, maybe one shows up every 4 or 5, 5 race grinding sessions. You realise 1 car takes an hour grinding to earn (If it's around the 1m to 1.5m mark), I Le Mans car takes 4 to 5 hours each and a Ford MK.IV or a Ferrari P330 will take 2 to 3 days (maybe more) depending on the time you have each day to play. Then you realise that the collective value of every car you need for your collection must be somewhere around or over the 150m mark. That's around 150 hours of grinding the same boring oval course for less than 100 cars, most of which will rarely be used.

When it gets to that situation the game is no longer fun, it becomes a long and tedious bore fest. I think in my own personal opinion that after grinding and earning 950 cars over the course of a month and god knows how many hours, I should have done enough by now to sample every car in the game, however because of the ridiculous difference between prize money and car prices and the fact you don't get prize cars to sell anymore it's apparently not. That's why I'm going to start duping one car per day.

The only reason I am considering duping is because I recently got the 2,000 k's/100 races gift ticket.

Went and redeemed it and got the Jay Leno Tank car, which I won a race later anyway. So I have 2 tanks cars, it then says I can't sell either of them, so I'm stuck with them, whilst a friend got the Bentley Speed 8 with his.

Now I don't expect to get the speed 8, but I think its crap that you get a gift ticket for a car that can be won in other ways. There are that many cars, why couldn't the gift tickets only cover cars which can't be won through winning races/challenges?

So I am going to dup the speed 8 currently in the online collectors showroom. Might not be the right thing to do, but stuffed if I can save that many more credits just because the system gives me repeat cars....

If I like to get a nice car, or at least one I don't have yet, from my several car tickets I have to create a new psn account. Is there something I have to consider doing a new account? Country or something? I heard somewhere about different demos on other networks... I have a Swiss account, any suggestions?

some of you have very odd ideas about what constitutes 'cheating'

as it is, gift duping and birthday duping are short cuts. nothing more, nothing less. they, in and of themselves don't make you a better driver, player, or person than anyone (same goes for garages in the game). the only way you can 'brag' is by putting up better times than someone in the SAME vehicle or in a race subject to the same restrictions. outside of that 'bragging' as well as complaining about 'cheaters' (the ones that dupe or bday dupe (of which i have yet to do either for other reasons entirely)) is both ridiculous and frankly very very funny to the rest of us watching this endless ping pong match between the 2 groups.

duping cant make you drive better or faster.

if others actions (that in this case VERY indirectly affect others at all) bother you this much then you will absolutely hate 'real life' it's full of direct actions by others that you won't like even more. (hello tax man).

cheating in a video game is when one player is doing something that not only gives them a 'unfair' advantage but also depreciates the overall experience for everyone else they come into contact with.

I fail to see how 'dupers' cause this effect.

lastly, it's just a game.

I could not have said it better my friend. It seems the real problem is those that feel the need to somehow boost their small ego by "bragging" to others about something ANYONE with loads of time can do in a VIDEO GAME. Sorry to hurt anyone's feelings, but NO ONE cares how much time you spent GRINDING. NO ONE.

You want to impress someone? Do well in school, get a great job, be a good husband/wife, be a good father/mother and then people will be impressed.

I agree with the one dude that is being picked on by the grammer Nazi. Oops I almost forgot to capitalize my I and put a period. I think that you should actually earn the X1 and earn your money and such. Thats what you were suppose to do until some guy found out you can dupe cars. But at the same time, I realize that nobody wants to earn money and fast cars and such when you can just dupe all of them. But all in all i dont care what others do.

I think if you send a car that should save on some online deal like how the game knows you have sent a car today and can't send another it would just auto delete or take the car away if you give it away and replace it with an older save.....I had my game save go corrupt almost a week ago and I have been grinding the Ferrari Seasonal event and have almost all my cars back - the more rare ones and losing my tuning set ups which I am really mad about losing.

In GT1 through GT4 all you had to do is copy your game to a second memory card to buy all the cars over from it and no one cared so why start now?

I use my USB stick so I can gift cars without affecting my own garage.

True to my custom member title I set up a car gifting service whose object is to serve the GT5 commubity by supplying cars that you can only get once or cars that people's UCD won't give them :).

So... ANY cars can be duped with the "give as gift" method?
Cars over $999,999.99 cant be sent to friends but all lvl cards can

I can see why someone who played their game honestly would be irked with someone who did it the lazy way. But I had always looked at it as you get back exactly what you put in. I'll tell you this... it sucks to grind, but when you finally get it what you want it is always 100 times more fulfilling than just duping off. BUT then again, those that dupe did buy the game just like everyone else did and they're entitled to play however they want just like I am. Its a very clever loophole that still hasn't been 100% addressed, so to the victor goes the spoils! I'm more interested in whether or not they can drive that dupe.

I'd like to see some form of online auction replace the OCD just simply because auctions is where a lot of IRL collectors get their jollies. I really just want a place where I can browse through cars like how I would if I were looking IRL and not continually grind through the UCD.

I think an online auction would do wonders for the online community. Something that's always fresh and new and always interesting. It would encourage people to always sign in as well. Gotta say, I'd always be looking in the auctions to see whats going on.

And there should be some kind of governing entity to ensure that players get exactly what they're trading for because leaving it up to some 13 year old across the world in giving me my Supra RZ is pretty dodgy and there isn't much recourse. God, I shouldn't have to be bothered by this BS but the problem is there and its a nagging one thats always present behind every trade. Not that it KILLS my entire night or anything, but it's kind of a pain when it happens. Makes trading more trouble than its worth and ultimately is negative for the community.

Apologies for bumping this thread, I just got GT5 and couldn't believe people were getting upset over being able to do things that could be done in every previous version of Gran Turismo. Not a big fan of having having million dollar race cars in the first place and wish there were more traditional style races in GT5.

I finally broke down and duped myself a fleet of 6 FT-86 II concepts from the one that I received for getting extra paint packs. Took me almost 2 weeks(got caught up racing and skipped a few nights). I just love the look of the car and wanted more than one color, but all my other 334 cars I earned outright. Feel kinda bad about it as duping was like a faux pas in GT5 etiquette to me. :( :)
