I modded my own tracks without the blue smoke.

You can run this game flawlessly on a (then) high end Core 2 setup. That's what I'm doing, and I can run everything on High or Ultra if I choose to, but until the patch is released...I'll leave everything on high.

I really think that Codemasters need to tone down the rain a little, about 80% of all the screen-shots or video's I have seen have been pouring of rain.
I must admit they did a great job on the rain, it looks beautiful, but It just doesn't rain that much in Formula 1.

So far out of the Ten race weekend I have played, Nine of them have had rain in their at least once in a weekend, and about 4 of those have had rain twice.

Even if that were true (which it isn't) so what? It's a game, who cares how hard it's raining....

I'd advise you to check the 1997 Belgian GP, or, if you want something that's more up to date...go back to last Saturday at Suzuka; it was pouring. Only difference between that and the game is the game doesn't delay Qualifying or the Race because of the weather (or, at least not that I know of).

This pic above ^^ (PNG link) is DX9 but with small mod. You don't need a super computer. A dual core system with a ATI 4870 GPU will run it easy at high framerates. Thats like 2 years old now and system total is worth about 300 quid or $400. 4870 can be bought new for £90/$110. You could build a more modern DX11 based system with an Athlon quad and a GTX460 for £550-600 or $600. This is building it yourself. Most pay this much for a crappy PC just for browsing the web.

AMD are bringing out some new cards very soon, so maybe the 5850 would be knocked down in price.

Below are PS3 pics. Obviously not as great as PC, but I chose to get it for PS3 simply because my TV is set up to run with my consoles, while my 23' monitor is for my computer.

The problem with PS3 games I find that 720p is the highest form of resolution when it's a cross platform game. Not sure why this is.

Really? Are you using the photorealistic mod? If not, what mod(s) are you using?

I'm using a 4870, and well, perhaps I should turn everything back up to Ultra.

I used the ENB mod and my own xml file. It looks great with that track and car with heavy rain but the same settings don't look good at Suzuka. I'm just experimenting.

These PC mods are annoying, I was very happy with my new purchase on the ps3 until I came into this thread and saw how much better the graphics look with this mod. I don't suppose anybody has found a way to fiddle with the settings to make it look better on the ps3?

Not unless you're in possession of a development kit.

Nice thread you've got going here. Here are some screens, grabbed at 1080p using sparse grid supersampling to get rid of those nasty deferred lighting jaggies. I made some custom 'cinematic' cameras to keep things interesting.
