Funny....the Nissan Skyline is the most popular car according to the vote, but it's one of my least favourite japanese cars....all the other big japanese manufacturers go past in my books.....Honda, Toyota, Mitsubishi, Mazda, Subaru. NSX is my number one

Skyline, any model. 32,33,34 all great cars. I like the Nismo tuners the best myself, particularly the R32 S-tune, great looking black car. This car is unstoppable with mods and especially the VCD, turn that puppy down to 10% and you just about have a rear wheel drive on it. Nuff said

Okay... Here's a suggestion... Buy a cheaper, more powerful, similar weight Supra. DON'T add VCD and you just about have a rear wheel drive on it... Nuff said...

i thinks its kinda weird that so many people love the gtr... i am not saying its not a great car... but the concept behind the vr4 is the same... it can handle as much hp... has the same technology in general... and in my opinion looks much better...

guess people overlook what they can have and always want what they cant... the best japanese car built by major manufacturers has to be the supra for its performance at its price... then the vr4... things like the z cars ( which are in my opinion better than a skyline)...then the nsx and gtr just cause they are grossly expensinve and not dazling in looks... but that doesnt make them worse cars... just not the best Japanese car

I'm not gonna argue with you on the looks thing because thats a matter of opinon....

here is where I differ with your statement.....

1. the concept behind the VR4 may be the same but you have to remember that the skyline was made first...

2. the VR4 cannot handle as much HP as the skyline on a stock motor....The GTR can easily handle up to 500 Hp on stock internals over 500 and the con-rods need to be replaced,It can also take up to about slightly under 900 HP on the stock block....(at 900 the stock block develops a crack in between the #3 and #4 cylinders after a couple of minutes however a nismo N1 black can take way more than 900) not to mention that I have never seen 7 second VR4s or 1360 HP street legal VR4s but I have seen skylines that meet that criteria....

3. the technology may be loosly similar but the skyline rules that department too...the VR4 may have 4 wheel steering and AWD but the skyline had Super-Hicas and the ATESSA-ETS PRO system...something the VR4 does not....the skyline monitors each wheel 100 times a second and detects wheelspin and if necessary can transfer up to 50% of the skylines power to any of the wheels...The skyline also starts out in RWD and only engages the front wheels under extreme acceleration or slippery situations....

4 the skyline is also detuned from the factory....some of these things include a brass plug with a small hole preventing full turbo use...removing the plug gives you an extra 28 HP...you don't even have to buy anything....the air and feul maps are made to lower horsepower too....the injectors only run at about 80%

don't get me wrong the VR4 is an awsome car..my friend owns one so I know what It can do but you cant really compare it to the VR4...

 see above....where I talk about the VR4 and skyline.....

lol defend skylines i hardly think that car needs defending... well the tech that you discussed like the atessa- ets and so on... might handicap the car in some peoples minds... its a trction control system... which is greatly needed in skyline and of course in the vr4 as well in a diff form... skylines might kill in technology and allowing anyone to handle a high power car... but i doubt they can give as much thrill as a car that does not need such tech or aws to handle well... i am not trying to say a gtr i am just trying to point out that the gtr is no where near the best car out there and i found it interesting that many of the people out there ( as shown in the poll) think they outclass the other top of hte line sports cars...

i am not saying i would not wanna own one lol...

just saying that it is ( and the vr4 as well) slightly heavier, slightly over technologized, than the other cars on the list... which can be considered good things... i just think lighter cars ( without becoming too light ofcourse) are more fun to drive and way more manuverable... oh well wish this poll had more cars to choose from.. like z's and stuff...

how will it be a handicap?

and you can turn it off......

I've driven a skyline here in the US as well as many other sports cars and I can tell you that its gives as much thrill as any other car out there....and the VR4 has AWS....I also never said the GTR was "the best car out there" but It is one of the top contenders....( I thing that we can thank 2F2F for the poll  ) now everyone and theyre mother knows what a skyline is......

the skyline was designed for the track with manuverablity in mind...why do you think it got kicked out of Group A racing? It was considered too good to compete mostly due to its outstanding manuveralbility.....

i did not say that the vr4 did not have aws...

a car designed for a track i was thinking of something lighter with the same hp... things like tvr, lotus, porsche would produce... (porsche only sometimes) i am sorry but a long.. heavy car canot ever outmatch a light and shorter one as long as the light and short one is balnced well and such and so forth...

i guess i did not choose the right word when i said handicap... the skyline needs its traction technology... as well as engine tech because it is puching out alot of hp... its a heavy car iwht aws and awd and a lot of hp which all combines to give less predictability with high revs and turbo... that car cannot be a breeze to control...

i have never driven one and wow you are very lucky to own one... what model... if its a r33.... oh ****... if its a r34 oh man....

to those who love the gtr... i am not trying to say you shouldnt...

to those who think or know its a beast... i am not trying to say that its not true...

to those who think no other car can match it... i am trying to show that that is incorrect...

and to those who think the gtr needs defending from what i have said... it doesn't

But Skyline GTR guy..don't completly leave the Vr4 so high and dry..Remember the Vr4 makes a booiked 310 or 320 HP which has been under rated...The skyline makes an under rated 280, which is due to legality issues with the japanese sports car market..However..The Vr-4 does weight 100lbs shy of 2 tons...and with about 400 bucks in modifications can be in the 12 second range....Which is probably about the same as the skyline...and both would be eaully driveable..

lets have bets to see how long it takes for some one to ban shinez this time....

lol only kidding shinez :p, welcome back....again:lol:

Maybe it's the looks....the Skyline just doesn't look much like a supercar to me, when cars like the NSX and Supra do.

It also could be the handling....I like to drive cars stock, and I don't think the Skyline handles as well when stock compared to the NSX or RX-7.

i heard finland has some good cars...

well not made there but sold there

who?? go on who did u hear it from... cough it up i want answers :p

oh wait maybe that was another scandinavian country... you know the one with gettaway in stockhom... so i guess sweden... some dude on some ftp thingee said that to my friend who told me

btw i live in us so.... most countries have better cars than me... cept maybe like.... oh i wont say anything

im not stooopid, i no u were gonna say australia:p

ill take my xr8 race car, and kick ur corvette race car any day :D

Honestly though JoniK...A FD3S Rx-7 doens't look like much of a supercar in real life either....It's just the reputation it's gotten..and PICTURES..that help it..Honestly to me..The FD3S looks quite femanine..It's still a GREAT car and i'd love to have one....but...it's body seems too small for it's style...I mean untill I saw one for myself, all I had to go by was pictures...And on pictures they looked almost as long as perhaps a Ford probe....but in real life, they're not much longer than a Civic HB

I gotta call bullshít on that one.

You're talking about the type of cars that win the World Street Nationals. For example, there's a street legal '95 Camaro that gets 6.87 sec. at 204 MPH, but that's not very much of a Camaro anymore, is it? Or the Callaway Sledgehammer, which I think is still supposed to have the highest top speed of any street car. Or there's a newer C5 Corvette with a modified 427 c.i. V8 and a twin turbo that puts out 980hp, which as of 2002 I think is supposed to be the highest hp of any street car (and it obviously wouldn't be legal in California).

There's just no way you've seen a 1360 HP street legal Skyline. Sorry. It sure as hell wouldn't be street legal in the US, and if a 1360 HP Skyline even exists, I'm sure it's so heavily modified that there's no point in calling it a Skyline anymore.

With the extent of the modifications required to get a car up to that kind of hp, it really doesn't matter what car it is. It could just as easily be done with a Mitsubishi 3000GT.

I'm just saying your argument isn't relevant. If some guy strapped a rocket onto a Ford Pinto and said it had 3000 hp, that doesn't mean the Pinto is a good car.
