Anyway, thanks guys for the replies. I watched Nik's stream today and it seems that the Mazda Atenza is the car to beat. The first two drivers in his lobby were using it and they just ran away with it when it came down to pitstops (somehow the Mazda is able to save a lot of fuel, but I haven't been able to see how). If you can get around its' touchy turbo, there's no reason anyone shouldn't use it.
Manu or Nations?

My Mazda is always able to save a lot of fuel, 'cos I'm crap and slow... but yes, if you do even a hint of short-shifting it can have some dramatic effects - even 250rpm less is noticeable.

I use the Mazda always anyway, because I'm a Mazda fangirl. I have just had a rather good Nations Cup race in it which resulted in me doubling my points so far (I got an alleged 1009, although that's likely to change, for a 2nd place finish) because I've only done three races and this was my first at mid-B.

It could have been better, but a numbnuts in an RCZ piled into me and the Ferrari I was "racing with" at the hairpin on lap 7, putting us from 2nd and 3rd to 6th and 7th. Luckily I caught 2nd-5th pretty quickly and they pitted as a bunch on lap 8. The tyres seemed to be going off on lap 6, but as I'd been fuel saving by allowing the Ferrari to stay ahead of me (so I could short shift and not lean on the tyres), I got another lap in completely clear air in 1st before pitting, for about 35 litres of fuel and new tyres. The short stop had me out in 4th, the new tyres meant I cut through 3rd and 2nd within two laps, and the Ferrari I'd been racing with earlier couldn't keep up on the final lap due to his tyres being 7 laps old and over the fast life and mine being 6 laps old and not there yet.

Yay. The winner was driving a Lancer, was DRS (I assume because he's top 20 in Bahrain) and only won by 10s - about the amount of time I lost being punted on lap 7. Which is annoying but I'll take it.

I chose the Lexus for the nations tonight. Got a decent lap in qualifying that put me in 4th (think it was a 1:31.3) and then did my tactic of pootling the 1st sector and then driving the rest of the lap for the whole race. Just made sure to put the sausage kerbs smack down the middle on each lap and never pushed at all (think a 1:32 was my fastest lap in the race while most around me were at 1:31.5). Safety first got me a 3rd though so quite happy, even if the race was dull. God I hate that 1st sector. 2 guys who finished ahead of me were in Porsche's so maybe that is a good car for the track?

Manufacturers was decided at first corner when I dropped from 9th to 14th. I couldn't really overtake anyone in my Scirocco so just watched other peoples bumpers and tried to stay out of trouble. Had one mistake through the Schumacher esses that dropped me back to 15th but managed to get back up to 10th but was a bit of a 'meh' race by me, pretty average driving.

Not my proudest night. Manufacturer went good qualified 2nd but I slightly pushed the leader in first corner making him loose one spot, rest of the race was pretty boring in front.

Nation was a nightmare really, qualified 8th, 2nd corner the guy in front of me nearly stopped on track, stepped on brake, guy behind tap me onto the guy in front, 10 sec penalty. Recovered but now I'm 9th then 7th because of accident, then come lap 3, in the 3rd corner a guy spin right in front of me, I avoid him, another guy in front spin as well which I manage to avoid but apparently I overtook someone under yellow and my penalty is growing by itself which I only pick after corner 7th, by that time I have 25sec penalty so I go slowly off line, end up 19th. From then on it was an entertaining race, climbing up to 8th.

At least there is something we can rely on.

It is... yes!!! Disconnectioooon!!!

This time just at Nations in Dragon Trail Gardens.

I can't imagine the frustration of you live event candidates by this, when even I'm so disapponted now.
Time for to do the @OutlawQuadrnt again:
GREAT JOB PD, GREAT JOOOB!!!! 👍

Something really weird happend. After I got disconnected from Nations (No blu screen, I saw all the names then the message network disconnected popped up) I thought I was last automaticly.

So I started training for Manufacturers. Just before I started the race, I checked Kudos in expectation to have lost 1,5k DR from Nations disconnection. But I obviously lost nothing. Confused, but in good mood I started manufacturers and pole and victory! 1505 pts! With my porsche cayman btw.

After then I checked if I can enter Nations, and I could! But thete were only 4 min to train left. It was the last spot. I qualified 12th and ended 13th after a 10 sec penalty and spooned also. But at least I could race.

Just had a Megane Trophy in Manufacturers who hit me eight times, including at the first corner and the final chicane (netting me a 0.8s penalty for cutting the right-hander...). He got so bad the game just ghosted him and he drove through me and the car in front. Big red S, and a tiny red connection quality bar. And penis.

got what I think is my first pole position in one of these races, in the Manufacturers - quite happy with that.

shame about everything else though. dropped to 2nd off the start because I didn't shift up in time and bogged down. then dropped to 3rd when I got overtaken at the hairpin on lap 4 or so, and down to 4th as a Lancer bumped their way through behind the other guy. got back past the Lancer, but the next lap he went up the inside at the hairpin and ran me off the track on the outside, span and hit the wall on the right, lost a load of places.

recovered a few by pitting on lap 5 and then putting some good laps in whilst in clear air, before putting a wheel in the dirt while braking for T1 and going about fifty miles deep into the gravel and lost all the places I'd gained, plus a couple more. finished 15th in the end. ergh.

for the Nations, barely done any races round the track and didn't feel super confident, but thought I might be OK. qualified 8th, fine, will take that. race was terrible though, had no pace and when I was near anyone, they usually just hit me from behind a few times til they got through, chicane seemed really bad for it although at least I got a couple of nice boosts down the straight as a result. got ran out wide by someone in the final turn, which span me round and lost me a load of places, think I finished 15th again. double ergh.

also, I saw someone with a gtplanet logo on their bonnet in the Nations race, can't remember the name but was Dutch. was never anywhere near them in the actual race though!

Came 9th in the latest nations cup race. Would've been 6th or 7th but I had to make a second pit stop at the second to last lap.

Boring race, too many tight corners, terrible settings. Couldn't have the traction control lower than 2 or else i'd spin on every corner. It's just not fair. But I feel I have to keep entering these things or I will be bullied for my low score.

They've all been disastrous. God dammit PD, SUPER SOFT tyres please. I can't corner without spinning.
All you ever talk about is how the game's really unfair to you. How about trying to improve yourself first before blaming the game

No one's gonna bully you for low points, either. I don't know where you got that

If PD will alow RSS I'll just laugh when I pass people because their tires are shot after 3 laps

My tires are already shot after 3 laps

Well, the manufacturers race today for me went good. Started 2nd and got the lead after the first set of corners and never looked back. Even after i pitted at the end of lap 7, i still held on to the lead. Ultimatly, won by around 15 seconds. As for lemans in the gr3 huracan, i am not hoping for much but i am hoping that i can finish off the season strong.

I struggled, too in the WRX. Qualified 8th in an all A/S lobby. 5th after turn one and hoping for more. Down to 8th when I pitted and got passed by two on the last lap. Dang Subaru just wouldn't turn anymore. Should have changed the bias from - 2 to +2...

Haven’t done that race yet. Can’t imagine driving that or any car with -2 bias. +5 everything and that’s still not enough. 4WD Gr.4 cars need about +20.

On fresh tires front bias makes it a rocket out of the corners but yeah, after a couple laps it needs rear bias.

I’ve never noticed. I just drive every car at +5 and hope for the best. I do way too much trail braking to use a front bias

I was able to hold my pace for 5 laps, but I have to play with brake bias

I wonder if we had RSS that race

Yeah, for Nations, 4 or 5 laps was about my limit in the Lexus before I fell off. I was the fastest car in my race on fresh tires but was probably 8th or 9th fastest when they wore so it was interesting

I'm having that wonderfull feeling when the game DCs you after three days of practice and make you lose 3000 DR, relegating you back to A.

Was he German? Think I may have been in that race :D

Raced the Nations.....qualified a second off my best at 1:31.6. Started 4th or 5th in the Atenza. By lap two I was in second. Pretty boring race after that, finishing second. The leader was very quick and slowly checked out all race. Sigh. Good points nonetheless.

Good race tonight at Nations cup , i've jumped in 5th for a moment but loose 2 places on a mistake in the nasty chicane.
I would like to know your opinion about this defensive move. I don't want to blame the other racer , we had a very good long battle together and it was very fun. Just to know if this defense is ok or a bit too much. I thought the rule say you can defend yourself with one move. Is it true ? or some others categories allow more than this ?? The video is just 40 seconds.

Nations started off okay with a good qualifying lap. However, those sausage curbs made running any one good lap impossible. I ended up losing positions because of fuel and I couldn't get them back. Gardens is certainly not one of my favorite track.

For Manufacturer's, there is one thing I want to say above all else.

Stop holding up people during qualifying, please!

With the room times, I could've at least started 3rd with no problems at all. However, I got held up big time on both my flyers and I had to basically wreck a guy ahead of me just to get a lap in. I started 14th and it took everything in me not to run people over. I somehow got 7th but it should've been a podium. It's been a long time since I've been this upset and frankly, I'm fed up with people either deliberately getting in the way or have zero situational awareness at all. I can understand if it happens once or twice by accident but it's happening every other race now and that's unaccceptable. 👎

I wouldn't be bragging about that one. It's never ok to just wreck a guy!

Keith.

The first move was okay, but when he moved again that not right.

It was the last thing I wanted to do. In fact, I caught up to him on my first flyer and I decided to back well off so they could finish. Second flyer and I somehow end up catching the same driver who must have been on worn tires by then. Didn't move over at all and I had someone right behind me that ran into the same problem on the prior lap. I had to go hard into a corner so both of us could squeeze through and at least put up a time.

I want to be that driver that is considerate of everyone else but even I have my limits. Tonight got to where I had to say something publicly because this is something that has happened to me and to other drivers too many times already.
