Came home mid evening exhausted and jumped straight into BMB Manufacturers race not expecting much, had to adjust TCS a little to prevent the Ferrari rotating too much as I worried about tyres, and this race hammered them more than most. Qualified 13th, released break slightly too early and got a tiny false start penalty, but it was less than most others so by the first corner I was 6th. After a few laps, it became clear there was 1-6 in a leading group, and the rest were fighting in a big pack a good 5-10 seconds back from that.
Nothing too eventful happened until 3 drivers in front all spun at the blind left after the first turn. I came round the corner to see sideways ghosted cars and the gift of 3rd position. Pushed a bit hard on 2nd place guy on bad tyres and crawled round the outside of the 2 hairpins giving him a chance to create a space so I couldn't slipstream and I backed off telling myself "It's not about being in front of him, it's about finishing well, you're 3rd, don't throw it away".
So, stayed 3rd but my pitstop put me back a bit (the power on the straight comes from somewhere) and after everyone had come in I was still 5th or 6th. I gained a position or two as people spun, and passed the penalty laden guy in front for 3rd place at the line.
Best points score yet, and an SR gain back up to S rank now
Edit:
I did a warm up at Interlagos, went off at the final turn after giving the throttle a little squirt mid corner and took 20 seconds to hit the track again, learnt from that but also...if someone hits me there it's race over, and likely in a few other places too. A 10 second penalty still puts them ahead so incentive for dirty racers. Group 1 for this race also has widely different braking ability due to car choice, and I didn't want to risk it.
