They basically did use the test seasons because that is the most likely way the selected achieved and maintained the highest DR.

Yes there was no way you'd get 75k without running a load of these top quality races, there just isn't the depth of quality drivers at other times, except maybe an odd occasion.

Also thinking about it they definitely do need to ditch the nation limit when the top 24 is brought back, for e-sport purposes more than anything, well if they do plan to showcase/stream them in any way. Watching 24 top quality drivers battle it out is way better than watching half the filed get totally smashed as will happen if the limit remains.

A lot of the 75k-ers have either played GT for years or hammered the game since Christmas, doing 95% of the FIA events.

There are just as many guys who do a handful of races a week sitting at 75k as those who do almost every race. Looked at the number of races the top guys have done and there's zero correlation between races done and DR, some of them haven't even done an FIA race in weeks.

Also when the Nations Cup goes global don't be surprised if it's only one per country. The priority is for as many countries to be represented as possible so in theory you have someone to support as a viewer. Yes it leads to a weaker race as some countries could easily qualify 2-3 at least, but the best player will still win.

I doubt the nations cup will go global with timezone differences. It'll probably stay regional if you want participation. Cool idea though, I would love to see drivers from many countries around the world in one sanctioned online race.

Speaking of which, does anyone know how the top 24 Nations Cup matchmaking works? (seems not to matter too much now)

The new FIA page in game explicitly states a 'Regional Final' and a 'Global Final', so it does appear we are sticking to 2 per country for now.

I’d like to imagine this pre-season will somehow be involved with seeding something or other for the real thing, so I’ll be attempting to run the whole thing for the first time since about Test Season 6. I’ve mostly just been doing one or two Nations Cup races a week since then, since I mostly only enjoy racing road cars and the one-make stuff and avoid Gr 3 like the plague under most circumstances

Generally my goal is always top 10 in Canada and for Mazda (only use Mazda because it’s what I drive in real life, don’t care about what’s META). I accomplished that every time I raced most of the races in the early test seasons.

Agree that it would make more sense to put Nations and Mans on different nights, they’d get a bigger pool of players that way.....maybe for the real thing...

I feel like this is going to be another test season in the rough format the official seasons are going to run.

Would be nice if they’ve got other plans, but I don’t think this is far off. Given the Nürburgring event is marking the start of the official season I would like to think there will be a full announcement then.

Probably won't be able to race until June. A small chance I could race at end of May.
Did some hot laps at the weekend, found half a second after adjusting to my new brake pedal, matching the top of the leaderboards.
So yeah, I'm pretty excited now!

How popular is Chevy? I thought it would be a robust choice given the tracks, I picked it and didn't think about picking a less common car.

So besides Alfa it's the least competitive manufacturer?

I should've stayed as a "Singaporean":banghead::banghead::banghead::ouch::ouch::ouch:

You don't get to choose guys  For the Nurburgring 24H event they checked our ID for actual nationality.

I hope they don't find out you're underage.

So if only four races count you can just enter all the gr. 4 races in a dominant car.
If by dominant car you mean same car from certain manufacturer, which is not always dominant on certain tracks.

Essentially yes, but there is a mix of tracks so not sure any one car would be that dominant. Wouldn’t make much difference the fast drivers are dominant in all cars!

I decided to go with Hyundai for the preseason. Figured it would be one of the lesser used cars and @Tidgney's BOP test enticed me to give it a go.

Long term, Jaguar and Mercedes has been my favorite so far but I get the impression there will be a major BOP adjustment based on preseason results.

Hang on, what do you mean by "underage"? What is the youngest an entree can be for that Top 30 Euro Cup?

(obviously) Mercedes is my favourite too. Jaguar is in a pretty decent place right now, the Japanese (I think there's a guy called Akagi_ ...something) used it back a few weeks ago and won the Manufacturer's Series for the Asia/Oceania region.

However, Mercedes-Benz is not in a decent or even "acceptable" place for the time being. The Gr.4 SLS is much too overweight (and yet PD add even more on top), the gears make you wonder if you'll ever reach sixth, and it has a hard time managing tyre wear. The Gr.3 SLS is an unknown for me, although I know it's (one of) the heaviest Gr.3 cars on the grid (1350kg!), but its' power is ok. Finally the Gr.3 GT GT3 got a power nerf for no reason (couldn't keep up with Mustang then, definitely can't keep up with it now) and it is also a tad heavy (~1325 kg, description says it has 1300, so maybe ~1312 is a good compromise). Gears also put it out of sync for a few tracks and the downforce doesn't seem to suit the car sometimes.

Despite Lewis Hamilton being "The Maestro" in GT SPORT and driving for Mercedes, I'm getting the feeling that PD still doesn't particularly like the Three Pointed Star, with almost all Japanese brands getting solid buffs that make them extremely hard to beat (NSX Gr.4 - Good gears, ok weight, ok power, godly M4-like fuel management & Nissan GT3 - Great power, great weight, Amazing durability).

I too was hoping for a BoP change. And I mean a proper one. Maybe we'll get it tomorrow after the weekly maintenance.

I was getting rather good results with the Gr4 SLS before but figured it need a small power bump. The change to make it worse defied common sense. I want to say the Gr3 cars have an edge in fuel but it's been a while since I've driven them.
