Is there any particular reason why the FIA races still have to be as diverse as they are, rather than have a weekly, category specific championship race running most days? After all, the Bop seems to be okay now with Gr.2, Gr.3 and Gr4 at least. I think probably quite a significant number of drivers feel obliged to do most of the FIA races just to get points rather than choosing to do so for fun, but I could be wrong and PD ends up thinking players love these events, when they don't really.....

I do it for fun

P2 on the manu cup for McLaren :D
That's 1821 points collected. Question: How do you guys manage your fuel in FIA races? Pure shortshifting or do you fiddle with the fuel map? Fuel management seems to be one of my weak points :(

Is it the Kart race in the Nations Cup tonight? Can anybody confirm fuel/tyre settings? Not sure if they have them in Karts tbh....

Saturday.

Just watched a stream at Dragon Trail. The streamer gets a penalty for brushing past somebody who crashes into the chicane.
A bit worrying that the penalty system still has severe issues just a month before the real thing commences.
Looking forward to the commentary on the races in such circumstances.
With an 'FIA' badge, it needs to be immediately addressed, along with the blue screen issues.

There should be more people within the community to reiterate such huge problems.
Some drivers don't have the time to race again to regain DR so quickly because of no fault of their own.

PD need a kick up the backside

I am very careful with overtaking. If I’m behind someone and a bit faster but can’t overtake savely, I put fuel map to 2 and try to stay in the slipstream.

Granted, at your level it is unlikely that a driver is so much slower that you can keep up with fuel map 2.

I have seen top drivers put fuel map on 2 for slow sections of the track. For example through the esses at Suzuka.

Another thing that I have noticed is that drivers do it when they come close on long straights but not close enough to overtake. For example leading up to 130R at Suzuka or on the straights at Monza.

I personally don’t do that because it distracts me from racing too much.

Ohhh. Points taken, I'll do FM 2 on slower parts next time :) thanks!

I only adjust FM on the latter situations you gave. If I had a bombastic exit onto a straight but not enough to get overlap, I'll adjust my FM accordingly so we have around the same speed coming into a corner

I think commentary/streaming will be limited to live events which will use stewards and not the penalty system. You can't expect any penalty algorithm to be 100% aware of context so of course any instance of someone brushing another driver at that chicane wall will lead to a penalty. Only way they can hotfix that would be to turn off penalties for that particular bit of track, but that can be abused.

Of course the algorithm will not be 100% correct all of the time, but it still needs to be fixed in many areas, such as the 1 second penalty for paint trading, and a 10 second penalty for touching a driver in the middle of a braking zone because they make a mistake/wobble etc, or even brake dangerously early

Group 4 McLaren's peak shifting point for races is super weird, I'll upload a video after my Manu cup race later.

I’m braving it tonight!! Judging by the leaderboards most of the alien population have turned up so don’t fancy my chances much. Won’t be in till one of the later slots though!

Hey guys, I'm from India and so was wondering if india is even included in for the FIA championship? Is there any way I can check that? I've been doing these fia races very often so I was wondering if coming first from my country would qualify me for something? I've gotten my DR up to A+ so I would just like to know if coming first from India would mean anything.

Why shouldn't India be. They are represented in daily races right? If your Dr is high enough, then you have a chance. Bear in mind that EMEA is probably the most competetive region.

Quick question for the nations cup, in case someone is familiar - if you are first in your country would that mean something at some later point? Maybe a "bigger" race with a representative from each country or? (Sorry, if someone already asked/answered this, but wasn't able to find the correct answer)

Yes they are represented in the daily races. Any idea as to what happens after one comes first from their nation? Do they have to compete against other nations/regions?

Not a clue. Best asking one of the resident aliens who frequent this thread.

Could mean something later, not sure anyone knows as yet. The fia game page does mention regional and world finals so quite possibly, whether that will be in game or an event like Nürburgring later on not sure anyone’s knows yet?

Honestly guys, just get as many points as you can, too early to speculate on whats in the future. So far they used DR for the World Tour selection, that'll definitely change once the full FIA season is underway.

All Test Seasons are essentially null and void, they aren't using the Test Season results for any selections. Pre-Season could be different, who knows.

I almost exclusively manage my fuel through short shifting, mostly because the G29 doesn't like to change the fuel map settings while I'm turning.
There are times though where I'll manage with fuel map - but even on ovals I manage through short shifting, lifting/coasting more than I do fuel map.

So for me it's mostly a mixture.
The S's bends through Suzuka are a very good example where managing via short shift or lifting off the throttle could disrupt your balance and sap more time than running through them on fuel map 2 would.

It's all about finding what works for you.

Because I short shift a lot - I tend to choose cars that have power lower in the revs.

Good to hear that the lobbies now feature more of the quickest and cleanest drivers. Less chance of losing DR to the less experienced.
