Wow, I expected +1lap with McLaren tonight..

THE worst race from previous 3 seasons (-55 SR)

We had a good really short battle

This race was catastrophic. I got hit and I got span by the same guy, and I got 10 sec of penalties for small touches. The penalty system is a joke.

Oh how I love the standing starts.

Just did my first ever FIA race, started from pole position. Well, guy in 3rd gets a better start then me, drives straight into my back after accelerating for a few seconds and I get hit with a 4 second penalty. This is why I play this game.

Because me and the guy in 2nd were pretty much head-to-head throughout the whole race I didn’t stand any chance of winning the race.

Edit: Oh man, it’s even worse than I thought. The guy jumped the start and then he lost control of the car, steering right into me. Video will be up soon.

Got into Manufacturers at the second attempt. I've just finished, and came 2nd after qualifying 1st. A few things:

- The start in the GT-R was awful, I ended up going to 7th on the top straight
- I got damaged on my right side when going through turn two, so I ran my entire first stint with my car trying to send me in the wrong direction
- Despite this I was running in 4th and a solid 3.5-4 seconds behind the leader, while 2nd and 3rd were fighting between themselves
- C/B rank, both utter disasters
- The top group pitted on lap 7. I stayed out and shouldn't have, I ended up losing about two seconds on that extra lap. I'd considered staying on hard tyres until lap 10 then going to mediums for the final three, and if I hadn't been damaged it would have worked
- Oh and yeah, tyres, I discovered this in qualifying when I came in to change. Ended up on pole by like .900, that was cool
- On my first or second lap after pitting I got a boot in the rear and more damage, so every time I went into 5th gear the car started making a really weird noise

All in all it feels like a wasted opportunity but I did well considering I had no idea damage was upped and we could change tyres. Oh and I also just discovered the guy who won the race had only done 27 races before so it's a bit galling I didn't get the chance to pressure someone so inexperienced when I was at least as fast as him. Oh well.

This it it. This is what gave me a 4 second penalty. Imagine if something like this happened in the Top 24 races. But nobody cares about the lowly peasants lol

Oh, and fair play to the guy in third. He just had an absolute cracker of a start but thought it would be better to ruin both his and my race rather than take the lead.

Oh well...

He’s launched without TC, spun the rear wheels lost traction and spun out, that looks like a complete accident, nothing malicious.

It was a yoke...

And still, why should I get a 4 second penalty for that? Why??

Simply because he hit you then went off track whilst you stayed on, thats the why. Should you get a four second penalty for that? No. Thats just how GTS computes its penalties. You did write,

but thought it would be better to ruin both his and my race

I dont think he thought much except for “oh yes what a start...oh what the ****, ****,****,****, oh ****** I forgot to switch Traction Control back on”

So everyone knows WHY the penalty system is as atrocious as it is. Then WHY is nothing about that problem? This just destroys the racing each and every day.

I still don’t get how a game with problems like this got the FIA licensing.

Was not looking forward to the manufacture’s race this evening, dreading it after @Alpha Cipher experience with the lambo.

Had fully excepted walking away with either 0-200 points, at least I thought as long as I can keep it inside of the white lines and going forwards I can probably avoid finishing last.

So qually, yea went really well, not at all, held up on my first flyer, toasted the tyres at turn 3 managed to qualify 14th, damage control begins from here I can score 400 as long as I don’t get overtaken.

And then this happened:

(Only one lap not a chore to watch I promise ;))

Super happy Lambo Driver thats where I finished 7th place 1099pts.

The bull has rampaged! :D
Congrats
It was fine, I didn't expect you to turn left a bit although I did have more room to my left a little. Then you ran a little deep. Minor stuff really, was good to race against you!
Yeah I usually move as much as I can to the outside if I see space, but had I been aware that you were closer than I thought I would've kept the same line going in

Simply because the algorithm can’t determine blame, maybe over time it will get better. But as it is, its quite possible that its right more than its wrong, excluding race B this week.

Qualified 6th, got up to 3rd at the first corner, got hit and spun around to 18th. Worked my way up through an absolute battlefield of a race track to finish up in 6th, where I started.

I can’t deal with these whirlwind of emotions!

How common has the Mr Bean livery been in the Mini race tonight?
At least two Bean-themed liveries in my race, applied to about 5 cars :D

I didn't get a very good start into this off-season. Qualified 6th in Nations, but finished only 9th, because I underestimated tire deg and understeered off track once near the end

Manufacturers' was a complete disaster (went with Mercedes btw). I caused an idiotic crash on lap 1, requiring a lengthy stop for repairs :banghead:Came in 19th, well deserved I guess - which brings me to my main point about today's settings:

I think both allowing tunes and especially enabling the heavy damage are great adjustments that should be kept throughout. The former seemed to add some good spice to the race, while the latter actually leads to penalties that deserve the name (see above). Really feeling the damage and having to go get it repaired is a much greater motivation to race cleanly than a few seconds in a red box that can easily be shaved off whenever you like.
Sure, unintentional accidents gain a lot more impact on the race result, but then again that's how it happens in real life too, isn't it?

Heavy car damage is a bad idea. No need to test it, PD! It will just make things more unfair.

Started from P3 and of course someone was going to hit me on the first corner, damaging my suspension. Not fun.

I don't think so, the actual competition is still running. It's likely just for practice, fun and (at least in the case of today's events) testing out new settings and conditions.

Well looking at the nations schedule, there are a lot of very fun looking and interesting races in store, looking forward to that! And optional tires in mftr is a nice touch to test around, overall it looks like great fun!

Well, i just did my best race on GT Sport on the manufactors race. Im so happy with the result.

My qualify was decent, when I managed to get 6th (1.30.7). I lost some tenths in my lap but I was satisfied with the lap.

On the race, I had a very good start and jumped to 4th. Then, I holded my inside line to avoid wrecks at turn 1. That did pay off with a clean T1, getting out of the mess behind. At T2 I got very lucky because P5 was punted and he almost hit me as result of that punt. After that i captalized on a mistake from P3 on T3 and nothing much else happened on the race. I went for the one stop strategy and did work well for me. But i saw the no stop thing working as well so I dont know what was the best strategy.

Anyways, Im really happy with my result. Let see if I can keep it up for the next rounds.

So I tested @praiano63 's tune for the nations race! (however I changed the car height, the front all the way up, as it seemed that the top times were being set that way, and also made the forth gear a little higher, as I didn't want to go to fifth gear before the second to last turn) This is how it went:

In qualy I set the third fastest time, I felt like I had the pace to get the pole had I nailed a lap. The car was feeling quite nice! (Y)

On the standing start I jumped the second place, the gear ratio for the start was just perfect!

However, the problem came as the race went on, my left front tire just busted, I went from 2nd to sixth by the last two laps... Now I'm not sure wether it was my driving or because of something in the tune. The racing was great, I was happy that I could perform well like that with little practice! :)

I'll probably upload the full race video later tonight!

Don’t think that tune was meant for longevity since I had the same problem, drove super conservatively yet my left front absolutely died around lap 9 and I lost 3 positions in the last few laps

@05XR8 - I was driving a Lexus which I figured might be a tad better than the Hyundai.
* I usually play with a DS4 too, but with the way the tire model is, I've had to run the G29 and didn't expect to be close to the front.

Oh, I get you.

Well, see what happens next race at Kyoto. I'll be using Mustangs all the way through.

I've qualified 2d after facu dudu , i stay second all the race , did the best lap 1:15.22x but couldn't pass him without taking some risk of contact , so i've stayed 2d and finish 1.5 second after him.
My front left tire was at the half , (i don't know about Facu dudu but i will check it if i find a replay)and i haven't had problem with it, i was laping mid 1:15 till lap 8 and 1:16 low to mid till the end.
Perhaps there was a special way to drive it, it was setted to let the car nail the apex alone accel pedal off, the car were coming very well , and full gas when almost inline.
I was very attentive to tire squeal during all the race.

Manufacturer was very fun to race, i've found the porsche still very good to drive as ever , but the top speed was very bad, I had to contain a lot of cars during the straight with defensive driving lines most of the time.

How do you know it's an exhibition FIA season?

When I win both Nations and Manufacturers in the same day.

I spent only 30 minutes practicing with the Mini. Thanks to @praiano63 for the tune because I was being a complete newb trying to come up with my own. I did tweak the gearing some to help in certain corners. Started 2nd but got a great launch to grab the lead. Some good battling later, I lost it and it looked like that would be it. However, I can only guess that tire wear kicked in and the advantage began swinging back to me. More battling and then I snatched the lead for good. Not bad for not much practice.

Manufacturers was my debut with the Lexus. Quite a strong lobby even by regular FIA season standings and again, not much practice. Really thought I would struggle.

P1. Seriously, where was this in races that mattered more? :boggled:

Anyways, there was a Ford GT with mediums a few spots back and so I didn't even get to lead in T1. Since I was committed to a no stop, I barely put up a fight with the Mercedes and Aston Martin to preserve the rubber. The Ford pitted quickly and then the other two started battling. A lot. They even did so after they both pitted. Obviously, this played straight into my hands and I tiptoed to victory by about 3 seconds. Couldn't have asked for a better debut.

Finally, GT Sport has done something with high tire wear races where it plays into one of my strengths. Therefore, they'll ditch it for the next real season.

Nations cup: Blue screened when on pole.

Manufacturers cup: Disconnected before entering the race, so got a second chance. Got my first hot lap destroyed by again people with 0 awareness leaving out of the pits, so only had one shot and took the safe route and managed an average lap. Was doing 29.0 on mediums in qualy pace constantly in practice. Race was good, i knew i had no chance to win, with the 13x multiplier someone would certainly try to no stop and that's what happened. I mightve reached first place if people behind me had a little bit of patience and brain and instead of trying to overtake in every single corner, pushed each other and made a move later in the race. This made me lose tons of time, then when he finally gets the job done, he then outbrakes himself, hits me almost off track, i lose traction and lose another position. The Ford Gt guy just don't know how to fight. Everytime i was alongside him or a bit further, he would outbrake himself and hit me wide. Karma made him lose the rear and i got the position and finished 3rd, probably the best I could do with this enormous tyre wear multipler.

That race included you, @OutlawQuadrnt, @praiano63, @SMinded31, and finally SPR_volteyTatsu from Japan using his US account by looking at the grid...

I'm not sure why you're crying. I would've been laughing my ass off.

How you can think this dude made anything other than a mistake is a mystery. Going on this form if that dude had got past they'd have just taken out half the field at one of the first two corners.

The 4s is just a pity and could've been worse. Its easy to bleed that off over 13 laps. You shouldn't have got it though.

I said it WAS A YOKE. God damn it, of course he didn’t ram me on purpose. Should we tag any comments we make with a sarcasm banner? Ugh

And by the time I thought about burning it off before Turn 2 the race was almost over.

Still funny that I am the one who’s crying but the YouTubers get support from all sides when the penalty system ****s them lmao

Edit: btw, what kind of mentality is that? “I should be happy I only lost one arm, could’ve lost both.” With this somebody should ever complain about anything
