Strategy for Autopolis GR3 anybody ?
So far i've tested Racing hard no stop , not so bad at a regular safe pace , Around 1,5 second per lap slower but an easier way to stay away from troubles & lost of time ... penalties , accident .... Need to test in a full room tonight.

I did two races last night but used the same strategy each time, one-stop on mediums. I think pit lane is very short, 10-11 seconds, so it’s worth stopping in my opinion but of course it depends how your car handles medium tires. If you drive an FR car and want to try a no-stopper, maybe experiment with hards in front and mediums in back.

Autopolis is such a pain in the Supra GR3, it oversteers like mad and the first and last sector along with that opposite banked hairpin makes the track feel like a thorn in the side. I should have maybe took the FT1 instead.

Does the crossbow or F50 require a manual shifter and/or using the clutch+paddle shifter to get optimal acceleration? Or can you simple using the paddles like you would any dual clutch car?

1 stop seems to be the fastest way to go.

Dirty air is a big concern. Qualifying well will be crucial.

If you are stuck behind slower traffic, the undercut is an option. Pit window is lap 5 or 6.

You will need to make the judgment call in the race.

Can you run the whole race on mediums?

Are you using custom lobbies to test this out?

The tirewear is indicated at 13x. Tokyo was 14x and I ran the whole thing on mediums. Probably should be doable in Autopolis as well, allthough there are a few more corners which could impact the tires a bit more.
  • Autopolis 4.7 km / x13
  • Tokyo 5.2 km / x14

Really on the fence if I should go H or M in this race.....:irked:

You guys plan to refuel? Any advice on fuel mapping?

My preference is to not distract myself with the fuel map. I find short-shifting to be very effective, especially when you're behind someone.

Also check your car's power curve in the setup page. Some cars reach peak HP way before the rev limiter. Knowing when to shift at max power also saves fuel.

Will definitely check it out. Fuel is something I didn't use in the first race and between mediums and soft, I went with the mediums. Will see where the powerband of my trusty Citroën takes me and adapt to that.

For the tires I made sure I braked in a straight line and not to hard, kept a nice middle ground but I am breaking my head a bit over Autopolis. The corners are plenty but not all of them are hard on the tires. Think I take the gamble, otherwise there is always another run possible during that evening.

Reports from Saturday
Did first slot of Nations. Went with the GTR as the no stop was easier in that car. I qualified mid pack and got done over by some impatient people on a 1 stop. Though I can see why they were frustrated cos I held them up quite a bit

Was in the last slot for the manufacturers. Qualifying was ok enough, but I was really poor in the race, too many penalties and I ended up torpedoing someone at T1 ruining their race.

No, only on hard . But i did another test this morning , 1 stop on medium is a lot better , like @TRC_Stagger told me.
The only thing i've changed that allow me to save better my tires is to low all the volumes as low as possible.
engine sound -5
transmission sound -5
opponent engine sound -5
Tires sound +5
This setting let you alone with the unique precious feedback you can use to drive as soft and fast as possible. Very effective really at least for me. I think i've saved around 15% more rubber this way during the first 6 laps before the pit.

What car have you been running if I may ask? I'll keep the one stop on my mind and start with the mediums anyway.

You can use the paddles. Except using the shifter is perhaps 0.5 or more quicker per lap? I don't know the exact amount.

Mercedes GT3 '16 1 stop medium 6 laps / medium 5 laps .
In my case 6 laps between 1:46 high and 1:48 high for the last , eating 50% of the front left tire that have the higher waste.

@doblocruiser I agree with most here that one-stop mediums is faster for Wednesday's MFG race at Autopolis. Hard tires lose too much time in all those twisty parts of the track, and the pit stop is only about 14s. I use the Mazda, so it's pretty good on tires, but I think most cars can handle a one-stop on mediums. I raced against an A+ driver who was using the Aston Martin on mediums and he had no issues beating me, lap times in-race were in the mid 1:45's and low 1:46's for both of us on fresh tires. As far as fuel goes, I didn't have to save fuel at all in the Mazda, but I think the guy in the Aston Martin did have to save very little. Also to answer your previous question, yes I have been visiting practice lobbies for this race. Just make sure the settings are correct before joining, or create one yourself to be sure. Good luck this week.

Praiano runs an AMG, and you are in a Citroën. The AMG has the tyre life that is up there with some of the better wearing cars like the FT-1. Your Citroën, however, could wear its tyres as bad as a McLaren 650S GT3 would be in this game. But, if your inputs are as smooth as possible, you could manage your Meds until the pitstops come in and switch to another set of Meds.

I run a Porsche 911 RSR, which is really good on its tyres, which is fine for me considering my driving style on a DS4, being a tyre scrubbing driver I am.

Thank you guys for the responses so far. Seen the times you are mentioning, I am a couple of seconds behind which explains my less fading of the tires. I think with mediums I run about 1.48/49 if I remember correctly. I also won't be in the same playingfield as you guys. I am a few nudges down

The mistake I make is seeing the same use of tirewear for the Gr4 and Gr3 version which obviously isn't the case. However I don't notice at all that of a violent drop as @RZQSPEED mentions  Could mean 2 things: he is wrong or I am rubbish...probably the latter :odd::lol:

Well in case anyone had noticed my absence, sorry about that, big changes happening in real life at the moment which has meant less
time for video games.

I decided not to participate in the season for this year even though my first test season was a pretty good result for me in Manufacturers
Cup though not so good in nations, I don't really have the time available to commit to two races each Wednesday and Saturday plus the
change of times mean it's not really suitable times for me to race with my real life job etc.

Good luck to you all this year, I might still do the odd race from time to time.

Concerning N300 Garden Nation event , i've decided to go on xbow this time.
I'm a bit faster there than with F50 and above everything , the car is a lot more fun and alive . If i remember well for the last N300 events , it was on a harder compound , sport hard tires i think. This car on sport soft is really amazing , just the right amount of grip to be fun without turning the drive so much technical and with driving inputs that did not forgive.

Same! I’m not a fan of n class racing but something about this combo is fun! The X-bow is just loose enough to be fun, F50 is easier through the chicane but feels heavy. Running high 45s to low 46s in race pace so hopefully quick enough. Usually skip these races but if I can get on in time I’m going enter this one.

Did a 1:45.982 in the Atenza. 10th has done a 1:44.607. Think I can find 0.7 in T1 and the left hand hairpin, at the middle of the circuit.

Edit: Found 0.6 seconds. If I can enter T1 with better confidence(I'm braking too early one lap and misjudging my turn in on another lap), I can shave a couple tenths.

I did a 1:44.444 in an RSR on the Sunday before this round in a Free Practice session, almost there to topple a Rem Beetle off the Top 10 back then...

I can hardly break into the 1:45.9 range at Autopolis on wheel, I don't know what I am doing wrong other than the Supra just cant put the power down.

this is a great idea 💡

Was going to skip the Manus in the MAzdas, but I dig Autopolis. I'll go in it to have fun and watch the replay.

The Gr.3 Mazda feels so good at Autopolis, and tire wear is pretty friendly there compared to many other FR cars. I've had quite a bit of success in practice lobbies with it. Still over 1s off pace from the aliens, but I think it has the pace for a podium finish in a 2000-point lobby. I doubt I'll get it there, but top 5-7 and I'll be happy.

Also, I forgot to give you a shoutout the other day, I snagged your Gr.4 Atenza livery and used it in the Tokyo South race. If you scroll back a page or two you can see @O_Maverick_O 's video of us battling when I was using it. Really sweet livery man, nice work.

Cool! It's getting updated with a few more decals, due to the members in the svg thread.

So I've had my qualifying absolutely botched because I went into the Car Settings menu and came out with a black screen, even when driving.
How this still isn't fixed since the demo, I have no idea. RIDICULOUS.

EDIT: Not gonna lie, I had some fun with this one despite starting at the back of the grid due to the black screen glitch + unable to complete qualifying lap.
Made up 7-8 positions during the course of the race. It was a majority grid of F50's + a couple of X-BOW R's to boot, but my M4 seemed to be very much up for the job.
Will do this race again and compete for more points, since I can do so much better with a proper quali lap.

I like doing a race run during qualy. It's a "free" 10 minutes. See how long RMs last.

Edit: after 6 laps, fronts were half worn. Started with a 1:50. Fastest was a 49.1 and last .3 seconds each lap with a steady 49.8 on m5th and 6th lap. Rears we're about a 1/4 worn.

Car still felt consistent with no fuel problems. Started with high 15laps and finished with 11.3laps left. Normal shifting.

Edit2: Not bad

Was happy with the whole race. Some slight bumping and close racing. After my pit stop, I passed a WRX and then a Mustang. Ran the rest of the race alone with a 6 second gap to 6th and 4 second gap 8th by lap 10.

Edit3: Supra was great. Thought I'd be left for dead. The F50s I raced, didn't gain and didn't pull away from me. I'm convinced its short wheelbase is the key. SO tight on the turns with a bit of controlled flick. A couple oversteer moments, due to a couple F50s beating on an X-Bow and S-FR. I'll go so far as to say tyre wear made the Supra neutral.

Finished right behind the 14th placed F50. Good stuff.
