Nations Cup race was quite a joke.
On the grid at P6, after some qualifying nicks due to "mobile chicanes".

Race was pretty smooth, a decent start made me leapfrog up to P4. Followed by a carnage at turn 1, dropping me down the order to last place at P17. Change of strategy: toned down my aggressive driving to nurse the tyres for a decent pit stop that put me up in several places again. Meanwhile, the backmarkers were all ballerinas spinning all over the track and bringing out the yellows, that gave me more confidence and hot pursuit to manage my pacing.
Did a splendid recovery drive to finish P8, while the ass player from Japan that took me out of the corner finished P5. I mean, I should mark him for the future races huh? Unfortunately I ain't as pathetic as that guy, I'd rather keep my respect and sportmanship.

Perhaps my conclusion, some Japanese players are really idiots that ruin the sport with absolute no respect. Even if I had a little tap from behind, I'd usually power down for a few seconds to give another gap to go.

P.S. The penalty line was a bit of a joke because while overtaking the slow ones the ghosts suddenly appeared and I end up with damage on the front.

Lastly, congratulations to @05XR8 for the win. I was watching the live stream from another Aussie player while at work earlier in the day.

Time to save the replay videos and review my race pace and tyre management as a debrief.

Thanks for that. The real surprise was qualifying. With the players I recognised in that race, I thought I'd be down in 10th or so. First run I think I was 4th or 5th with a bit of traffic.

Pitted and just waited to see how far I was going to fall. Track was clear. Decided to run one more.

Each sector, I wasn't getting a purple or even the blue and green boxes. When I crossed the line, I hear that "sound" and I shoot to the top... by 0.495. No way!

Right now I‘m going ballistic!🤬

I joined the manufacturers cup on Monza G4. In qualifying two Huracans (an italian and a spanish driver) cut the track and thus collected numerous penalties. Now instead of making room, knowing their current lap would not count and their next lap would be destroyed by the penalty, they raced, blocked and one of them even bumped me off the track at Ascari, shortly before serving his penalty. This went on with other drivers leaving me with one „fast“ lap of 2:05 which got me 19th on the grid.

I started with mediums, changed starting lap 8 to softs and finally finished 9th. The Huracans finished 1st and 2nd! They should‘ve been DQ‘d for deliberately destroying other peoples chances of Qualifying! (I wasn‘t the only driver being affected by their stupidity)

I saved the replay (I hope Qualifying is included) and I will call those punks out everywhere!🤬

Oh god im angry.
Manufacturer race. I start 6th, everything goes well, im having a good fair fight with a french guy called lezardsomething, then i drop him, he pits, and then i pit next lap. He is just in front of me when i exit.
Again, good fair fight, I manage to pass him, and 3 laps before the end, i make a small mistake, and he passes me back. Then i catch up with him and a german is catching up with me. The german passes me and then i pass him and he messes up his turn leaving a 1,5s gap between us so i feel safer and start attacking more to pass this fellow fench guy.
Last lap. Im 1s behind the french guy so im hoping to get the 6th spot. Or 7th if i cant pass him.
Somehow, i completely mess up the braking point of the second chicane, and i think "oh crap i can say goodbye to the 6th and probably 7th"...
I managed to mess up the two next turns, and to spin in the wall, damaging my car...
Finished 11th super angry of doing such a stupid mistake and mad at myself for losing my focus after a single mistake like it was the first time ever i was racing online.

The only positive point is that i had good time racing against this frenchy and mostly good time racing against the german.


And yeah the penalties are weird, i have cut a curb with the whole car, got no penalty, and also just barely touched one and got 1s. Weird.

During the Manufacturers Cup in Monza, I messed up my Qualifying lap, giving me a 17th position to start. I manage to catch up a few places in the first few laps, everything is fine, just that little bumpyness you sometimes have, nothing critical.

In the beginning of the 7th lap I had a fight with 2 other drivers while going into turn 1. Knowing that going into that corner 3-wide isn't really a good idea, I backed up and both cars in front of me collided. Both of them were OFF the chicane, so I tried to pass them, somehow getting locked between both of them and one of them pushing me off the circuit, leaving me spinning and losing 8 positions.

So, started 17th, finished 15th.

During the Nations Cup, I qualified a solid 5th, although I could've been faster if I'd chosen the soft compound for my final two laps.
The start seems to go very well for the first 5 people, until we meet the first turn. Somebody apparently either misjudged the braking zone completely or had the intention to go at full speed into someone else, him, hitting my rear, me causing a massive pile-up (literally nobody in the front escaped the crash), and having engine damage and rear spoiler damage.
Only a few turns later, somebody hits me again in the rear.
In just one minute I'd fallen from 5th to 18th.

Then I was stuck behind 2 guys which were fighting for almost half of the race, somehow catching up to the mid-field after passing them and finishing overall 10th.

Might've been my worst day in the FIA Cup so far. I'm gonna go deeper into the replays tomorrow and look for personal mistakes.

First race: SF19 on Autopolis
The whole qualifying lap is busted due to a bug exiting the pits, only 3 cars complete a lap in 10 minutes.
The race is basically ruined, I get 12th.

So I say "welp, the SF19 is bugged, let's move to Manufacturer Series then"

Second Race: Gr.4 on Monza
I get punted off track on both my hotlaps, and start 16th.
The game BUGS AGAIN, and the last 4 positions in the grid don't even roll during rolling start.
Somehow I manage to finish 10th thanks to a good tyre strategy. Shove it Kaz.

Third Race: Monza Again
This time I manage to pull off a 4th place in qualifying.
I get punted to hell at turn one despite going out of the racing line, straight to MF LAST place.
I again climb to 6th position because I can (same tyre strategy), the guy in front of me is about to slow down for his 3 secs penalty.
He ghosts in front of me THE GAME DECIDED I AM A GHOST WHISPERER AND HIT HIM ANYWAY (he still had about a second of penalty to shed so the game had plenty of time to understand he was a ghost), slammed back again to 12th. I obviously get the penalty for that. Ohhh boy.
Finished 10th again.

The only thing I gained from this evening were 15 SR taken away and a renewed hate for PD.

This is a well coded game, they say, either that, or you can be more subtle when rigging a race.

First attempt at Nations: Started 10th, up to 2nd after turn 1, an assortment of bottles and an awful 2-stop strategy later, I finish 17th. When I came out after my second stop I was behind a train of 11/12/13 and I overcorrected trying to go past one of them in the final corner, binned it. Finished 17th.

Tried again in the Honda rather than the Toyota. Started 13th, finished 9th. I've been playing this too much today though, I was really struggling in the second stint.

Manufacturers: The Nissan is great at a power circuit like this, and I didn't have the same problems with track limits that others did. Qualified relatively poorly (8th?) and made it up to 4th during my first stint, helped a lot by some people driving off the road in front of me. Avoided penalties, mostly, and began to bottle it from 3rd over the final laps. Another GT-R caught up and was side by side with me in the 2nd Lesmo on the last lap. The slightest touch and I went off from the outside. He somehow got 4 seconds. Felt bad for him, but got my highest Manufacturers score this season.

All-in, I could have done much worse. And don't 2-stop in the Super Formula race.

So apparently the Gr.3 race at Interlagos never actually uploaded, so here's that:


And here's today's race at Monza. After starting on pole but trying to be too smart in the first slot and ending up getting into a load of trouble, I'm glad I could get a result with this combo at the second attempt. Good, thoughtful driving going on at the front. This was my first race on Ethernet, after the notable lag issues I was having in my previous two races. It's nice not having to be concerned about lag-bumping other people off in close-quarters racing:

Drove from 17th (and got pushed off turn 1 so actually I started basically last) to 7th for 1100 points in my Super Formula race, probably the most miraculous FIA race I’ve ever done. I was one of the slowest people out there all race, high 1:28s is pretty much my limit, but there was a lot of carnage. So my advice is just be the tortoise out there, one stop on softs and just stay on track and the race will come to you.

That car is trash, the antithesis of everything I enjoy about racing online.

Just had an very very clean race at Monza it was really enjoyable. Although I’m terrible at quali and really does start me on the back foot.

I really don’t get why I’m in the 56s and 57s in a lobby constantly no problem but in the race I was pushing 58s, I know you lose a bit from battling but it’s like i mentally bottle it come race time.

The start with false start is interesting. Went from last to 7th to punted off into last in he first 10 seconds. A ton of people seemed to go on the last light lighting up instead of going out.

Congrats to the 🤬 who punted all of us at the start of that race, and as a result, I've had to leave it early due to it going from bad to worse here on after.
Unbelievable these people are allowed to race online!

I think I was in your 2nd and 3rd races. Both starts were absolute clusters, the replays are enlightening watching.

The last race was much better for me also, I let some guys through and let them roast their tyres and managed to rise a couple of positions. I know when I'm not fast enough to stay in front and move aside, mostly that position comes back to me through consistancy. I quallied on Softs, but ran M to M. I just couldnt get the softs to remain as drivable as the mediums.

Qualifying drives me nuts. If your lap get's blown by a penalty or a simple run off, or you're not on a flier, GET OFF THE RACING LINE!! twice in the 2nd race I was on blue sectors into the last section and people are rolling along on the apex. Why wont they watch the map and get out of the way if not on a hot lap!? Seems like common sence to me, and polite.

Here we are. 2019 FIA Season. I took an extended break after the 2018 season and started to make positive changes with my life. Some of which have actually given me work opportunities on another passion of mine; Soccer. I upgraded to a T-GT wheel and prepared myself for this season. Sim racing (was) to me is a stress reliever given I'm still a student and the pressure that brings. However, I've been thinking deeply of if this will really work out for me and if I should just focus on other things in my life currently.

On the incident:
I went for a alternate strategy of going in a lap earlier than the leader and it worked out as I was able to build a gap. The gap was slashed by the final lap and I had P2 bearing down on me who had fresher tires. The video pretty much speaks for itself. It's absolutely demoralizing to lose it that way. To be half a sector away from my first win in more than half a year and to have that happen has pretty much made me question if this is all really worth it. The thing that made it worse is the post race message from the driver:

"Sorry GearHead, but what were you thinking with that strategy?"

I was half a sector away from winning... it nearly worked out. Whatever though, it's happened and I'm left thinking "what's the point of all of this?" Sim racing has become more of a chore now and to be honest, it's no longer fun. Sure it's just probably an in the moment comment I'll live to regret it later, but I've been thinking about this for awhile and this feels like it's the tipping point for me. I don't want to give up however to let the other opportunities slip away for this seems reckless.

I don't care anymore. It's all numb to me.

No patience. That part of the lap, would have been better to follow and pass you on the outside right hander, which would have given the player the inside, leading to the hairpin.

You only keep the points for the last race you run. As soon as you enter the lobby of a new timeslot, you lose the points from the previous attempt. So if you did all 3 you’d keep the points from the 3rd one

What's good everybody? Hope you guys are all doing well on your FIA races tonight! Just got a couple of questions.

So I was able to get this Star Player agreement to pop up back when the season first started at February but my dumbass didn't even bother to sign for it since I was going to leave for the US Army. A month later, and I am now back due to being disqualified for medical reasons. So now, am I somehow able to sign up again? Or will I have to prove myself in both Nations and Manufacturers again for this season? Hella bummed out about this I swear.

Just my point of view. This car is a dream to drive. 20x tire wear that compromises the race. Today I started 2nd, was punted out in turn 2, lap 1, dropped to 15th and was able to recover to 4th place in an A lobby, with a player finishing right behind me. That fight was intense!

First, congratulations!! The game will only keep your last race points, so if you are happy with your current numbers I suggest to keep it. If not race it again until satisfied, but remember the risk. For the record, I'm currently 58th in Latin America, with all races over 1000 pts and probably will be out of Dr. S ranking today. This Championship is being very very fierce!!

Had to give the SF a run tonight. Q12 F13, so not bad. @dlshearon was in the race too. Wish I'd known you had the Magnussen livery too, I'd have switched to Grosjean.

Manu, Q16 F17. Shouldn't have 2 stopped, I was in 13th with 3 in view. No practice time hurt me there too. Stupid work.

Nations: 1st slot finished somewhere in the middle. 2nd slot there were a lot of retries from top players. Everyone was squeezing each other in turn 1 a few small bumps here and there and I somehow come out of turn 1 in 4th. 3rd bins it letting me inherit that spot. @Lion-Face caught me on the last lap but I did my usual defensive driving that I find myself having to do quite often and got 2025, my biggest points in FIA ever.

Manu: 1st slot bumped MINT into the second chicane but he got 5 seconds (sorry Matt) not sure if he hit @Lion-Face first. Choked while in 4th place with small penalties cutting the chicane unintentionally ended up 6th getting 1770. Thought the Aston had more points in it so gambled on entering the second slot given there were a lot of retries in nations, boy was I wrong. First place only offered about 1730. What's worse is I met with my punter from the Nurburgring. Had the lead, choked again getting small shortcut penalties. Punter was somehow able to brake later to pass me and then proceeded to weave on the straights to prevent me drafting. To rub it in they did a spin before the finish line even though I was only 3 tenths behind. It all started when I tried to pass conzio here:

To sum up my day:

Nations 1: Running 4th coming out of the pits when someone that stayed out blocks me the entire last sector. Cost me the position and gobs of time. Ended up losing 5th as well.

Nations 2: Blocked during qualifying during my last flier. Started near the back and couldn't recover.

Nations 3: Missed starting near the front by a tenth. Got scared someone on dirty tires was going to push me wide at the hairpin and drove myself off instead. I did recover but the points didn't matter.

Manu: Yes, I threw the WRX out there to see just how laughably bad it is. No shocker that the racing gods decided that I needed to suffer even more than that.



First time I can recall that I was in danger of finishing last. Why, do you ask? Just take a look at how the WRX's speed down a straight with slipstream. This car is supposed to "compete" in Group 4 but the only thing it can fight for is worst car of the class.

Pretty tough session.

1st bash at nations, qualified 2nd but pressed wrong button at start coming out turn 1 instead of boost and spin myself(handbrake) fought from last to 7th by end but should have been a win.

1st manufacs was a disaster. Toyota 86 is woefully uncompetitive on the straights so qualified 12th and well it went downhill from their. Other cars just blew past on straights, made stupid moves. Finished 17th in end as tried no stop.

2nd nations. Qualified 6th. 7th end first lap but some good passes and pace led to 3rd by end. 1400 points banked

2nd manufacs was slightly better. Qualified 12-13th cant really remember. Decided after 2 laps of fighting I would just follow a citroen in the slipstream (motorev) for rest of race using its grunt. Plan was working nicely but I got a run out of parabolica on lap 9. Had no intention of passing but they defended and it cost me time as I avoided contact and put me in clutches of car behind.

Ended up finishing 12th.....my tractor finished 9th so 10th was possible.

Hopefully the gt86 is better around catalunya

Qualified 8th in Manu driving a Scirocco which was a surprise...Got disconnected just before the race started 🤬. Was the only chance i got to do that race and got rewarded with a drop of 1,200 DR points. Great!

Had the rare opportunity to do both Nations and Manufacturers last night. Now that the UK clocks have changed and I can enter at 10pm and 11pm this is actually a little easier for me.

Nations
Couldn't hook up qualifying, started 17th. First two laps were chaos that I managed to avoid and found myself in 12th. Go into turn 1 on the outside of P11 leaving them space but they jumped the curb spearing into me and pushing me into the gravel. Was a pretty frustrating race as I go stuck behind someone who had shredded their tyres but was defending aggressively. Finished 14th.

Manufacturers
Starting to really like the Mustang. Qualified 10th but could have gone faster and the field was closely matched. The racing was 'robust' but I was doing okay. Start of lap 4 (I think) I have a very light coming together in the first chicane that dumps a 5 second penalty on me. Adding to that someone else lost control coming out of lesmo 2 spinning me around. After I recover and the penalty is served I'm in 19th.
What followed was the only real positive of the evening as I managed to fight my way back up to 9th.

Enjoyed both the cars I raced in, the actual races not so much. These are my first FIA races using a wheel though so there's that too. I look forward to the day I actually do well in a FIA race as I'll lose my **** for sure. I may actually spray some champagne.

Terrible race for me. I seem to have a problem with tire wear on the SF.
