Well I finally had a go at the Nations Cup race today. On a whim I decided to do an actual simulation run in my own private room beforehand because I had a hunch the race might be possible on a no-stopper. I discovered the car's tendency to break loose after it burned off a little fuel, so I was able to figure out a strategy to deal with it before the race. I lifted off the gas going into Turn 1 and stayed in mostly in the top 2 lanes, and that seemed to keep the oversteer at bay, while only costing me a couple tenths per lap, so I hopped into the 20:00 race.
I qualified 5th and narrowly avoided carnage at the start of the 2nd lap. I stuck to my guns and held my fuel mix at 3 except for a few moments when I turned it up to try to catch a pack in front of me (didn't work). I avoided a little more carnage, and ultimately made it home in 2nd place more than 4 seconds behind another no-stopper, running out of fuel literally 1 second before crossing the line. I enjoyed this race, just like all the oval races in GT Sport (on the rare occasions they come up...), and I even had fun overcoming the car's tendency to want to spin in turn 1, so of course I wanted to save a replay...
GT Sport saved a corrupted file AGAIN, so now the game crashes whenever I try to fast forward or rewind, and that ultimately means I didn't save the entire race. I have over 100 MB of free space, which is WAY more than enough for any replay, but for whatever reason, the game keeps corrupting my replays ONLY at the longer Blue Moon Bay races. It's done this twice now (the other time was a Gr. 3 race in which I WON FROM POLE AGAINST OTHER A/S DRIVERS, which is something I'd never done before, and haven't done sense), and has never given me this problem at any other track or race when I've had enough replay space.

...If anyone has a replay of the 20:00 race that has a player named equus_ferrum in it, sharing it would be greatly appreciated. 👍
