Only living 15 min drive away from Brands Hatch it feels like a home race for me which i can't miss! No doubt filled with disappointment at the end of the night

VW is quick round here but tires die so quickly.

I guess get your One Make liveries ready

Nations tonight, think i will be using the 911 with a no stop... im only judging this on previous experiences. I dont think i can handle 8 laps of the R8.. but i will take a look when i get home. 6pm will be my warm up, going by form i will probably drop it some where (probably spoon). Lets try and change that habbit :sly:

After loging normally and entering the first players selection panel of the Nation event today , i was disconnected from the network just before the next step.
I have a good wired optic fiber connection with decents upload and download speeds. However , the network test option is showing a weak performance for "PARAMETER 1" PING 190 MS.
Somebody knows the reason of such a high ping ? Normally it was a lot lower ! Is there something that can be done to correct this like router settings ?

I really wish I had more time to practice for Nations tonight. I will only have one shot in the final slot, and I ran one practice race last night in the Beetle. I probably should have chosen a different car, which I still might, but either way I don't expect great results in the top split lobby with so little practice. My only potential saving grace will be that I like Suzuka and tend to do fairly well there. The last time we had a Gr.3 Nations race there I went from 11th to 2nd in the Beetle for over 1900pts in the 2nd split lobby. If only that car had a little more straight line speed I'd be more comfortable in it. I saw that a GTR won one of the Asia top splits, but I'm worried about tires in that beast. Oh well, I'll decide at the last minute most likely and just see how things go. Good luck to everyone who hasn't raced yet.

I'm going to do it in a Nissan and my practicing earlier went quite well. I think it's an underrated car for Suzuka, given how much of the circuit is flat out.

The main piece of advice I can give you is to ensure every device you own in your home needs to be assigned a "static" IP address. This will help to ensure there are no conflicts between devices whether they are wired or wireless. Additionally, especially on FIA race days, reboot your router.

Keith.

thanks. I will have a little bit of time to run a few laps before entering the race tonight, so I might give that a shot. I just worry about being eaten alive in the S's, but you're right, it's surprisingly a power track. The only reason I was going with Beetle was the 14x tire wear, but on hards it's really not that bad until the last lap or so.

Using the Toyota today I got myself a rare front row (thought I had pole but got beaten by a Finnish driver) then took the lead twice when the drivers ahead made a mistake. I also made a mistake and went down to 4th where I stayed.

I assumed since you'll be in the top two splits you use a wheel and are much better than I am, so I took that into consideration :P

Reboot your router.
Thanks a lot , it seems it work.

Sometimes, even with a completely gaming optimised set-up (wired everything, static IPs, console IP in DMZ, ISP that plays ball), the router just... needs a kick. Particularly, but not exclusively, if it's had a long, uninterrupted spell of uptime. I do try to power-cycle mine before FIA events, or our Tuesday night shenanigans, just in case.

Yep. Crushing disappointment as predicted! Started 12th, finished 16th. DR took a battering.

My ratings have taken a dive so I was in a lower lobby than usual for Nations. 1100 points for a win. I qualified 2nd in the GT-R, in front of another Nissan and behind an R8. The R8 drove off the track at the first corner (finished 15th) and I led the race until the hairpin on lap 8. A guy in a Jag had caught up and his connection dropped from 3 bars to 1 as he was in my slipstream. Looking at the radar was like those air force pilots that say they've seen UFOs. Darting about all over the place. The inevitable happens and he punts me off at the hairpin. No penalty for him, his connection goes straight back to 3 bars and I finish 3rd. Fabulous.

Ed - After watching the replay, he was lagging all over the place for the whole race. By lap 8 he'd caught up to me and was inside me several times through the esses. I was bracing myself for something there as it was happening but we survived. While I no longer believe he was cheating, there is no way on this earth I would be able to take a win from someone like that and not die of shame from trying to immediately apologise to them for it afterwards.

Moral of the story: Make sure you have decent ****ing internet.

2 attempts at Nations so far. Obstructed in qualifying both times, and punted off the track in both races, losing around 20 secs in each case. I guess I'm going again at 10pm.

Yessssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss, 3rd time lucky in Nations. Had a clear track for my fast qualifying lap, and put in my best QT of the day, for 2nd on the grid. The R8 ahead of me increasingly struggled for grip, and eventually ran wide at Spoon, allowing me past. From that point on, it was fairly plain sailing, as 2nd place was outside of the slipstream range, and I suspect they were battling a bit behind me. My 5th Nations Cup win, first as an A driver, and 1416 points, a new Nations Cup PB. Of course, my DR is now 1200 higher than it was at the start of the day, so the next race will be even tougher!

Well, it's been another interesting evening for me. Began with the 19:00 Manufacturers, as the sole Mustang in a lobby shared with @Lost Sheltie. Qualified 7th on softs with a time of 1:28.887, only three-tenths off pole. The Mustang felt good around Brands Hatch in practice, and I was fairly optimistic that a careful and cautious run would mitigate the more severe wear that soft compounds tend to give.

Began the race by following and trying to get a run on an orange Lexus, who ran wide on the exit of Graham Hill Bend. The Lexus forces me to the inside on the approach to Surtees, and we make contact as I try to back out and let him take his line. He slides, flashes his hazard lights at me, and I lose 7th to a particularly fast, but ragged Hyundai. Despite this setback, I marched on, retaking 7th and catching up to the Lexus once again. It dawned on me at some point that another decent points haul was potentially in the bag. Eventually, I get a run on the Lexus coming down Brabham Straight, only for him to shut the door on me and force me to move to the outside. The yellow flags come out, the pole-sitting Evo has binned it at Paddock Hill Bend, and we both move up another place. Not much else changes until Lap 6, where I accidentally upshift under braking for Surtees and slide off into the grass. A fast-charging Cayman breezes past me, but thankfully I manage to get back on the tarmac and keep going. Over the next few laps, I keep a steady beat as others falter. The fourth-placed Alfa loses control after hugging the kerb at Westfield; the Cayman nudges the Lexus at Druids; the Lexus shoves the Cayman off on the kink before Pilgrim's Drop and earns himself a 1-second penalty. Soon, I found myself up in 5th, but had to contend with managing a badly-worn front-left to the very end. Both the Lexus and Evo caught up with me just before I took the checkered flag, but couldn't take away my second-best score of the season - 1,581 points.

For Nations, I settled for the AMG GT3, and had earlier managed to get a 16:26 run in a test lobby. Qualifying went fairly okay, with my initial lap of 2:02.51 being good enough for provisional 6th. Having done a 2:01.819 in practice, I felt I had the pace to go one better for my second lap. But, despite gaining one tenth in the penultimate sector, I couldn't quite string it together and so started 13th, right behind the only other AMG on the grid.

Starting the race just before the Casio Triangle wasn't going to be advantageous, and the AMG felt very slippery in the opening moments. Even so, the first lap brought me hope - the 10th-placed Porsche lost control coming out of the Triangle, and one of the GT-Rs served a penalty on the run to 130R. To save my tyres, I decided to take a steady approach to the race, making sure not to drive too aggressively while following the other Mercedes as closely as possible. Thankfully, the AMG has a lot of traction and straight-line speed at its disposal, which proved useful as we gained more places on a twitchy Audi, then a Porsche struggling for grip on the penultimate visit to the Triangle. I gained a good run and passed the Porsche into turn 1, securing 9th place as he slid wide onto the run-off. Just before the line, I got another run on a NAPA-liveried Renault from the Triangle, missing out on 8th by just five-hundredths of a second. Still, another solid haul of 1,175 points (formerly 1,176).

And after those performances, my DR rating has officially crossed the 48K mark!

Disappointing result for Nations last night, or rather a disappointing lack of a result. Had run the race almost until the end, placing an unremarkable 10th from qualifying last, when the car stopped responding to acceleration and came to a halt in the S-Curves. The game then automatically disconnected due to no response, with the car reving and changing gear, but not moving. No matter, I was hardly going to gain enough points to increase my rank, given how fierce the competition had been, but it still would have been nice to cross the line having put in all the effort to gain nearly 10 places.

Manufacturers was a much more positive experience; qualified around 8th and finished about 5th, bagging my second highest load of points for the season. I went with mediums for the McLaren, sacrificing pace for consistent performance, and it paid off. I gained several places towards the end of the race, as the softer tires of other drivers gave up under braking. I gained two places along the home straight (credit to the other drivers in that last pic), and more importantly, I crossed the line!

Nations went well tonight. Qualified in a decent 5th place in my VW Bug and then had a couple of people chuck themselves off the road on the 1st lap. I harassed the guy in 2nd for a few laps, until the rears on his Audi started to die and he binned it going into the Degners (I did tap him going into the 1st corner as well, but I eased off to make sure I didn't make a position as I hate it when people do that to me). By then I was nearly 6 secs behind the leader, so I set off after them but was unable to catch, ending up about 1.5 secs back.

By contrast the Manufacturers didn't go so well. Qualified 0.4 secs off pole in the 1st attempt, which gave me 9th. Had a weird incident going into Surtees where I was hit quite hard and the game just switched off my brakes so I slammed into the barrier damaging my engine and dropping me to dead last. Only managed to make up 1 position from there. 2nd attempt my quali didn't go so well so started 14th, made up a few places, and then when my front tyres died, I lost them again, ending up in the same position I started. Not great, but I had fun with attempting to keep people behind me, so that was enough for the night :)

Nations - Very straight-forward sprint race, nobody stopped. Engaged sheep mode, chose the R8, started 9th, finished 6th.
Manufacturers - Botched quali, started 16th. At that point I went "oh whatever" and no-stopped with the SLS. Last 1.5 laps were a severe pain, but I did get up to 11th so it wasn't that bad of a choice.

Elated.

First manufacturers race didn't go well, screwed up my second hotlap. Qualified 8th, finished 12.

Second try: was in a much higher ranked lobby which looked daunting. Stole a slipstream and took pole. Somehow held on to it all race and took my first FIA win. I'm very sweaty now.

Put the 458 11th on the grid at Brands in a tight second-split Manu lobby in CSA region. Got up to sixth on lap one with everyone battling and going into the grass. Fifth was mine after the guy ahead understeed off the track but I had to do some hard defending the last three laps. Very clean battle. He got by me on the last lap after a small nudge which awarded him a harsh five second penalty so I got the position back. He even let me pass immediately afterwards even though he had the penalty. That ended up costing him sixth, too. I feel bad for him. The love tap during our battle didn't jeapordize either of our races.

Pace was good. With a better qualy I could have been on the podium. But with Brands being Brands and me having a couple 700-ish point races from practically ignoring stage one, I'll take the 1,116 points.

Did all three slots for Nations.
First race was a disaster. FInished 15th.
Second race went a bit better. 6th and 1350 points. But I knew I had the pace to aim higher so went for the final slot.
Had my brother call an uber 10 minutes before the race ended so I could get to work on time.
Having that taken care of I went for the final race.

I did a 01.270 which was the time I was getting during practice but could achieve on the first 2 races. Good enough to get 3rd in a 1950 points lobby. Great.
Race starts, 2ND goes wide at t1. Now 3rd and 4th are fighting each other which allowed me to work on my own race. Eventually 4th gets past the guy ahead and catches up to me, his lack of patience cost him dearly, he pushed me off track at Spoon and got a 5 sec penalty, should've waited, he was clearly faster than me. Once he served the penalty the race was pretty much over. 1st was Kaiser so no way in hell I'd catch him and I had a teammate behind me so I knew he wasn't going to make any moves unless I made a serious mistake.
Brought the Mercedes home and with it 1854 points, my best result by far. Didn't have time to celebrate since I had my uber waiting outside lol.

Really happy, Suzuka is my strongest track so it's good to be able to seize the moment. Specially since the disappointing Fuji round in which I felt really good but couldn't get a great result.

Edit: also, this was my first FIA race using manual transmission. I'm moving up in the world :D

I´m a recent Gt sport player and enjoying every race i´m only in C/S rank and most of my choices in terms of cars and brand contract are not the best but i´m getting better.

In nations my last race was just awesome i had bad luck in qualifications got stucked with slower drivers and in my flying lap the guy with best time pushed me out of the track in last sector so i started 10th place, eventually he ended up in 10th place on the race was a good lesson for him and was fun cause he ended where i started :D, whent all up to finish in 2nd place and was closing the gap to get 1st.., one more lap and i could get it but i lost to many time overtaking that qualification was just a mess, i was gaining 2 sec each lap for shure the leader burned his tyres, was a very exciting race indeed.

In manufacturer "dominated" 2 races, got pole position on qualification in all 3 races got 1st place in first race, the second i got DC, 3rd race i leaded all race but in last 2 laps i made a big mistake and burned my left tyres lost the lead but finished in 2nd and had a big fight to defend my position finish in 2nd.

With a injured hand and playing on gamepad its hard to be consistent but im getting tons of fun,,,, its an intense experience.
Thinking on getting a wheel the game deservs it.

sry my bad english cheers all.

My DR dropped enough from bad top split results to get me into 2nd split :) Got pole with a 1:28.4 and won the race. Final lap a Toyota caught up to me due to tire wear but I managed to defend it even though he got ahead momentarily. Ran 29s most of the race with a few 30s at the end, so the pace was really good.

2013pts :)

Highlight of the night was when i set a google home reminder to get my laundry out of the dryer on stream and ended up setting alarms in at least 2 other peoples homes.
