Wish me luck. Americas Race 1 is in 30 min and I can't get my practice lap any faster than 1:34.3. Ugh.

good luck! Brake just before 100m for hairpin to get in tight and able to go early on throttle. Brake at 100m before following chicane and trail brake smoothly whil turning in close to curb (don’t hit it) and then quickly start turn-in for the left, just outside curb. With a correct line you can go very early on throttle and get good momentum. Try to find a rhythm for the first section. Watch top vids.

Go get a low 1.33 and you will start in top 10 for Dr C.

Indeed, but most specifically it's actually the mean. "Average" could be median (the value closest to the middle value) or mode (most common single value) - or in fact quite a few other statistical operators - but it's the mean, which is the total DR divided by the number of participants.

Also, when did all the A+ drivers start representing Mazda? I've been driving Mazdas before it was cool. Glory hunters.
Why didn't you use the word mean instead of combined, then? I was only trying to avoid misconceptions, not to split hairs over statistics terminology (and give me a break - almost every school-boy knows what "average" means. Especially in the context of a list of numbers.) Allow me to cite The Oxford dictionary's first definition of average: "the result you get by adding two or more amounts together and dividing the total by the number of amounts."

Hyundai continues to surprise me! Finished 5th at Suzuka and now 4th here! It’s not the fastest car but nice and stable.

I did qualify 3rd so lost a place but still delighted with the result!

I've just finished my dragon trail garden race with the renault RS1.
I really love this car. It's perfect and gives a great driving sensation . Very performant on tracks like suzuka or any fast track where grip is needed , but only if you drive on the fast line staying on tarmac.
Today , big kerbs and messy lines just allow me to to maintain a good medium race pace .
Any agressive kind of driving was sanctionned by a huge rear tyres waste. Even with BB at -5.
I think most of the MR had this problem today from what i've seen. Even with top drivers.

Fuel burning is such BS. Guess a 5 minute time limit isn't going to stop it.
2nd qt lap sucked too :p

nice race though. Can’t believe the lap times even with mistakes you are faster than my best times and I can’t really figure out where I lose time. Suppose everywhere. My best race lap is 1.32.6
You are very clean through the half circle with those many linked corners.

Ludicrous racing, ludicrous moves being made, ludicrous penalties. An utter disaster in every sense of the word. I hope @vvise or someone who knows how to use YouTube uploads the replay of our race. FIA racing at its absolute worst. I shared it on my GTS profile.

But I had a smile on my face and loved every second of it.

Well, got my practice time down to 1:33.8. Qualified 5th. Then got punted T2. Work my way back to 5th, get banged around a bit by a Corvette that caught up with me. Which leads to getting caught up by a very pushy pair of red cars. Long story short, I finish 8th with 18 pts. Not happy. May try this again.

Summary for those that weren't watching my stream:

Decided to use the same strategy as Suzuka qualifying that got me pole position, waited for everyone to go out and get a nice gap, take care of my tires for a lap, and then punch it. Unfortunately the fuel burners would have a say in that. 👎 I caught up to them in the last corner so my straightaway speed was compromised to start my flier. Then coming into turn 3 a fuel burner that had been ghosted suddenly was not and I slammed into him. I don't mind if you are fuel burning but stay ghosted. If you ruin my laps because of your shenanigans I will not be pleased. So, got an OK lap in after that and would start P13.

Long story short, through other people's mistakes and just having better tire life (pitting at the end of Lap 7 helped at the very end) plus a few people trying to no-stop, I crossed the line P3 by +.060 to P2. Had I stayed behind him when he swerved right coming onto the straight and got a small sniff of the draft I may have just got him at the line. Either way I am happy with 252 points and will see everyone on Wednesday. ;)

I don't like that quad apex set of turns very much but I will say that it flows better in reverse.

First Gardens II under the belt!

Started 14th... great first turn, on the inside gained two positions.... then I supposedly hit someone. Got 2secs penalty, then a Corvette braked too early before the hairpin and I ended up punting him.. another 1sec and later another penalty for 4s... altogether put me back in 18th.... made it to 12th, pitted and cane back in 14th... eventually making my way to 9th at the finish line...

Got 115 pts .. maybe I will try again.

It simply wasn't necessary to go into any further detail to convey the answer to the question - FIA points are higher or lower depending on the DR of everyone in the race.

But hey, we have anyway now.

(and give me a break - almost every school-boy knows what "average" means. Especially in the context of a list of numbers.)
Yep, we did mean, median, and mode in second-year maths (so... age 12-13). That was 30 years ago, so it's probably covered at a younger age now.
Allow me to cite The Oxford dictionary's first definition of average
That's the Cambridge Dictionary.

So, now we've thoroughly covered the relationship between DR scores and FIA points (unless we want to make further note of the fact it's slightly less than 0.5% of the mean lobby DR score?)... moving on.

We’ve covered it until the page flips over and someone else is too lazy to look back at all the other times the question’s been asked

Today was not perfect even though I got good results.
I got hit a few times by 1 driver taking me out twice & yep I got the penalty.
Thank for the only penalties i got in the race.
I watch the replay and saw everyone that you pushed off track .

I was in a race 2nd place & for most off the lap P1 was a ghost car?
Is that the new cheat?
Car didn't go off so I can't see why the car would be a ghost unless the car was texting someone for over a lap?

I did manage to have 1 clean race started from 17th after a car messed up my Q but got all the way to the end without one penalty .. this time I just let the slower car stay Infront at the end I didn't want to loose the clean race record 2 in a row ended 3rd
I know many will disagree but I feel that penalties for pushing someone off in Q should be carried over to the race & you can only clear it on your second /third lap..

Edit:
Anyone wants to do practice tonight 8pm GMT night for the two FIA races?

Ok thanks won't mention people again. My bad.

Race was alright, didn’t really expect to do much better. Qualified P6 after leaving to big of a gap to the guy ahead to start the flying lap, so I didn’t get enough of a draft going. Then I gained a spot in T1 when the car ahead slowed down way to much, he ended up getting his spot back a few laps later though. Then a guy coming up through the pack managed to get by me when I made a mistake thru the never ending corner. Then on the end of lap ten he goes off the outside exiting the final corner and comes right back onto the racing line, I tried to go around the outside because he looked to be headed inside as he re entered but nope, he of course stays right on the line and I smoke him(52:31 in the video), damaging my front end. He didn’t even give the place back either. I don’t think think I’ll be trying this one again.

I'll probably mention it when I get my replay up, but if your game is stuck on the screen just before the grid sequence, don't leave, it probably means someone has disconnected, but about 30s later the grid sequence should start. Luckily I stayed on but we lost about 4 people in our race thanks to that

Not really been practising for these races so I have been a bit off the pace. Qualified in 8th after a solid effort, but I knew I was not really hooking up much of the lap. Race went ok. I was very slow on the 1st lap and this caused a bit of bottle up behind me, but after a lap or so I managed to get the hang of it and cruised up behind 3 guys battling for 5th. They all tangled coming out of the 2nd corner and that gave me 5th.

I pitted on lap 6, but didn't really have a good in or out lap and that dropped me back to 8th. I managed to fight back up to 6th, but the guy in 5th wasn't stopping and I was just a little too far behind to chase him down. Strangely he decided to stop before the line on the last lap, so I got given 5th. Not sure why, but that was enough for me. Maybe could have done a no-stop strategy, but wasn't going to give up the points I got.

I did try Nations on Saturday but I didn't practice so was a little off the pace. No real way to fight from the back in a N200 race as it tends to get physical. Less said the better.

Didn’t do Nations yesterday. In fact, I’m not bothering with Nations anymore unless it’s a combination I like. Manufactures is more of my thing. That being said, I’m really looking forward to the Porsche 911 spec race at Laguna Seca.

For Manufactures, I got a 1:31.049 in the practice time trial, so I felt pretty good about today's race. And that was confirmed when I got pole position in qualifying. When the race started, I got rammed a little going into turn 1, but fortunately it wasn't major, and I kept the lead. A Mercedes AMG did pass me briefly on the sharp hairpin turn, but on lap 2, it went too wide on turn 1 and I was back in first. I pitted on lap 6 and came out in 3rd, with the two drivers ahead of me (including the Mercedes) pitting on the next lap. After that, I stayed in front for the rest of the race. That same Mercedes AMG was behind me most of the time by about a second or less, so I really had to focus. The pressure was taken off of me however, when it spun out on the s-curves leading up to the hairpin on the final lap, so I won by several seconds.

I only do FIA in Sport Mode, so it feels so rewarding getting a win in these races. My main goal right now is to get into A-rank DR (just need roughly 2,000 more points), so hopefully I can keep getting good results and make it there during this season. :)

I wonder if there's network issues. I got disconnected from the game server while waiting to go from the lobby to the track grid. Grr.

I’ll be giving the next time slot a go. I haven’t had much practice time, so I’ll be happy if I can qualify and finish in the middle third tonight.

Great time today in the Garden
Did two passes that Im really proud of and they are chronicled in the race edit below.
I had 13 on the door and I managed to bag a 10th place with a compromised hot lap that should have given me perhaps 8th.
So I was happy with that, but in a race anything can happen. :gtpflag:
@Master Weasel was in this race and won it.

Well, look at the race will ya ?

Took another shot at the Gardens... this time started 5th and finished 2nd!

Relatively uneventful race... lapped the 10th place and finished 14secs ahead of 3rd place.

With all that scored 50 points as opposed to117 for finishing 9th the first race... so it is the point system :(

The first race gave me a bit of practice and the second was far better , still with the same style needed by the renault , strong pace , never overdrive the car , never pass over a kerb.
Great pleasure tonight and some good points.

After being a moron in qualifying (like so dumb...I need to find a lobby to practice this type of qualifying), I started DFL.

I finished P9 after no stopping on medium tires. The last couple laps were slow, but i had a pack of morons who were slowing me down in front of me, and had a correct hunch that they would not catch me after they pitted.

the no stop might be a good strategy for someone like me who is realistically not racing for a Top 5 position no matter what.

My DR descent might be over...gained some back this race.

Well I was an idiot and decided to redo my first race after having another "decent" finish that could've been better in the Manu Series. I qualified 9th and finished 6th in the first slot, but could've had possibly 4th if not for some stupid mistakes that I was very lucky to even recover from.

I decided to hop in the 3rd split and qualified 16th before briefly hopping into the top 10 before spinning myself multiple times and rage-quitting out of 16th with 1 lap to go. I'd completely lost the rhythm at that track (possibly due to running laps at Le Mans for the next Nations race). Now I have two more chances to get at least close to the 136 points I originally would've had tonight... :banghead:

I'm going to hate myself for at least the next month if I can't salvage anything tonight.

Update: just ran the 4th slot. Started 3rd, finished 2nd after the pole-sitter messed up. Kept it clean and kept in touch with the leader for most of the race, in the end finishing 3 seconds behind, with a couple of Porsches rapidly catching me. I definitely wasn't 2nd fastest in this race (probably could've had 5th on pace), but I got my rhythm back and ended up with 170 pts. I'm done for the night!

I'm happy to say I finally got a decent result in the FIAs. @R1600Turbo said something about waiting for people to clear out before leaving the pits in qualifying. Then I finally looked at @Tidgney 's video about qualifying where he explained that as long as you cross the start/finish before time expires, you can finish your qualifying lap. So, I finally got a clean qualifying. Granted, I still kinda sucked - about 1 sec off my practice time - but luckily it was a slower group this time and I qualified sixth. (I actually had the provisional pole for a bit which was blowing my mind.) I'm not going to go through all the details but it was surprisingly a mostly clean race. I hung back from people battling or getting crazy, picked my spots and finished 4th! Yay, me! I'm finally done with simracing for the day.
