So......did the manufactures race. Had a guy side bump me twice exiting turn 2...got a 3 second penalty. Lifted off the gas...didn't decrease...now im at a 5 second penalty. Hit the brakes to serve, dropped to 14th only to get rear ended by the last place guy as I unghosted....no penalty so Im like. OK long race but you started 4th you can battle back. Entered the fast left and just barely clipped the outside edge of the track and it spun me around like I hit an oil slick. Stopped and let the couple cars go by before getting back on...car wont move and it starts counting down me getting DQ'd for too much of a time penalty.............

So I try the Nations cup, since im now locked out of the last Manufacture time slot. Get in start to exit the pits for practice....power goes out.........Oh and I work 2nd shift the next 3 days....

:banghead::(

Is it any different than the test seasons (I gave up on) Any reason to try it again instead of stick with the daily C?

Nations Cup : 7th/1500 points
Manufacturer Series with Hyundai : 5th/1462 points

I didn't want to take risks in that first FIA day. I'm pretty happy with those results.

How're you scoring that many points? I think I got P4 or P5 on the Manufacturers Series, also with Hyundai, but I obtained 263 points. I also qualified 5th, too, and even if I got P1, I think it said the score I would get was somewhere over 900pts - certainly not over 1000, IIRC.

EDIT: Maybe you qualified under P5 for the maker's series, and finishing with P5 is what got you more points? Whereas for me, I finished with the same position I qualified for. (On another note, I noticed all the Renaults were towards the back. Man, it just does NOT seem like a good time to be signed with Renault if it's a Gr.3 race atm. Hopefully they'll fix the Gr.3 car while nerfing both Gr.4 cars insofar that the latter are on more equal footing with other Gr.4 cars, and not rendered as the worst option.)

The higher the SoF (a lobby with a higher average DR), the more points you will garner. A full A+ lobby can go anywhere from 2500-3040 points if you win

And just how I am I meant to win against the Brazilians that are often over ten seconds ahead of me, thus improving my DR? Idk if I've even been on pole yet - but then again, I've only finished 25 races, not counting the races I had in the beta. And I'm certainly not the type to disconnect unless the lag is absolutely unbearable.

Only got to the Manufacturers race last night, decided on Lexus, and was the only one in my race for that Brand. Qualified 4th, punted first corner by some muppet and down to last, fought back to 5th... great to see some difference in fuel use on the Gr.3 cars, makes the pit stops interesting.

gid gud
Practice practice practice. As you climb up the ranks, mid-B to high-B will be hard for you, and get ready for it. You'll be matched with A+ drivers, some of whom are regular Top 10ners. If you see this phase of ranking up as hell, then you're damn right. But if you also see this phase as an opportunity to learn, and to steal the racecraft of the best, then you're more than a worthy person to get the coveted A+ ranking :)

Is there anyone who stuck at loading screen like me? (Happened to me multiple times both in 1.19 and 1.21)

I'm stuck at loading of the fia races in sport mode 🤬

It's so frustrating.
It's happened to me quite a lot. I think it's a traffic issue with all the people confirming entries, some people just get put on the backburner for 6 minutes or so.

Anyway I posted this in a new FIA race discussion thread, but I figure it's probably better here in the old one...

I had a nice, clean race at Suzuka, but a mistake with the pit strategy cost me the win. After my pit stop halfway through, I was in the lead by 5 seconds and kept fuel on mix 3 until lap 8, when I noticed I had 4.0 Laps of fuel. I misinterpreted that as having enough fuel for the end of the race (thought process was 12-8=4) and went to Mix 1, when in reality I was 1 lap short. I realized I made a mistake on Lap 10 and immediately went to Mix 6. I still managed to finish the race, but I finished 2nd, 4 seconds behind the leader. I really feel like I could've won if I stayed on Mix 3. Frustrating, but it could've been much worse if I didn't notice my mistake when I did. Still a very good result considering I hardly ever do well at Suzuka. Scored about 1700 points for Honda.

Thought I had fired up Star Wars when the Nations intro movie started...

And can anyone explain to me what that nations trophy is supposed to be?

I think I'll call my race "almost great". Picked the Peugeot for that juicy top end and fuel economy and it worked exactly as expected - no one could get past and stay ahead. Unfortunately I forgot how to brake after the pits and that cost me at least 2nd possibly 1st. Was catching up 6-7s a lap at the end but couldn't quite make the podium and come home with mediocre points. My Nations curse continues :(

I got interested when I saw it was GR.1 on Sarthe. Checked at 10:45, there is no 11pm race. It said sign up for Kyoto. Now I know again why I haven't been doing them anymore. At the time I can commit to more than a 20 minute race it's already over :/

Awful races for me. Got up to 3rd and then started getting divebombed and my choice was either get out of the way or get hit by unguided missiles. People who divebomb on the straights at La Sarthe deserve a ban. Race fell apart after that as I got into the mid pack. And the penalties were even worse than usual. Got two seconds for brushing against another car at low speed. The race on Suzuka was even worse. I haven't played much lately and Suzuka felt like an ice rink with the Ferrari. And for my troubles I got bumped down to DR C, sigh.

Fun race. Fuel economy is massively unbalanced on this category. Unfortunately i had the worst car on this aspect, so couldnt do much about it. At least i was the first Porsche on my race :D

Great qualy for the Citroen, but my race was destroyed right in the first lap on the chicane. And i still got 12 seconds of penalty for being hit twice. Disgrace.

It's a little disappointing that the start of the FIA season was on a Wednesday on short notice. I had maybe 30 minutes of practice max for both Nations and Manufacturers. Oh, but before I go on, I didn't decide on manufacturer until I got home today. It was really hard not to pick Subaru since I own a WRX myself but the poky Gr4 car made it a deal breaker. My final pick was:

Yes, the piggish Jaguar. Why, you ask?

- I figured it wouldn't be that popular. Therefore, it would be my best chance of sneaking in because I don't have enough raw pace otherwise.
- Both group cars are RWD. The MR tire wear disqualified many of the other choices.
- Both group cars are power oriented. Based on prior experiences and current slipstream strength, I do better when I defend and attack with horsepower.
- Fuel economy is not the best but the option to use some strategy is feasible.
- The cars look rather spiffy in that livery. I might as well look good while I'm out there racing.

For Suzuka, I ended up qualifying 6th in front of a Hyundai driver. Having driven that car in the past, I knew it lacked a bit of grunt and so I was trying to do some fuel conservation until I could get a run for a pass. Once I did, I started catching up to the lead pack which surprised me. Everyone pitted at Lap 6 but I decided to run an extra lap.

I wish I had the replay (game wouldn't let me save it 👎) because after I pitted on the next lap, I somehow was this close to coming out ahead of the lead cars. Man, I'm kicking myself because I know I could've short fueled to take the top spot with fresher tires. Still, it was a surprise spot to be in. Unfortunately, the car ahead eventually held me up a bit at the hairpin and got a bad exit. I got a bit sloppy and almost went wide into Spoon. At the exit, I ended up in a 3 car sandwich! The aggression level was insane and I got shuffled back to behind the Hyundai driver again. Yet I survived that ordeal unscatched and still in the running.

As I was trying to get a way around the Hyundai driver a second time, I got hit from behind going into the hairpin, knocking the poor Hyundai driver out of the way. I was resigned to getting a 10 second bogus penalty and yet, I only got 1 second. At least now I could march ahead in clean air and try to get a good result. Well, on the final lap, I saw a Viper going slow off the hairpin. I thought for sure I was going to get ahead but I didn't have the run. Because I couldn't get around, I got held up there and exiting 130R. That allowed the other Jaguar in the race to dive in and get ahead of me. The penalty cost me a position at the line relegating me to 5th.

Basically, it was both fun and frustrating. A win was actually possible, I finished worse than I felt I should've but still got a respectable finish.

Now, the Nations Cup I was expecting far less. I knew someone was going to do a no fuel strategy but I had no time to test it out. I went with the R18 and just threw myself out there. I ended up 2nd so I was planning to do massive fuel conservation except the guy on pole disconnected. During the race, the one behind me had similar pace but they were the only one that managed to latch on and eventually pass me. We did some back and forth but my attempts to save fuel didn't work that well. The good thing is that from what I saw, only one person actually attempted a no stopper and they eventually won. However, I managed to get 2nd and got no penalties whatsoever. I should get extra points for that!

The videos will come once I can get them ready. Overall, I'd say the results were good but could've been even better which is promising. The key for the season is avoiding the super alien room at all costs and aim for consistent finishes.

Only did the Manufacturer's race (Suzuka - Gr. 3 - Viper).

My qualifying time was rubbish, and started in 18th place. Near the end of one of the laps, someone bumps into me, and get a 1 second penalty. Stupid, but okay, I'll serve it. I eventually work myself into 13th/14th place. On the hairpin turn, someone starts to lose control, and I try to dodge them. They didn't get ghosted so I end up hitting them and get a lovely 10 second penalty. I serve it, and I'm back at square negative one (in last place). The gap between me and next position keeps on increasing, and it got so miserable that my ISP decided to end the misery by disconnecting me.

Super rough. I hope I do much better in the next race.

That was a strong room for the mftr

Yes it was. Such a shame what happened, the Citroen Gr3 usually struggles against the competition but somehow i had good pace and track position to capitalize.

My race wasn't too bad. I raced in the manufacturers cup and choose Porsche. I qualified 15th in the race and managed on the first lap to spin and come last. The mid laps were recovery and eventually made it to 11th. On the final lap I managed to drop the wheel onto the grass after the S's and dropped back to 14th. So overall not to bad and pretty clean race but made two big mistakes that cost me some points and positions.

Tried only manufacturers race in a decent lobby and got a pole put handed the lead to LorD-ProtectoR in first corner  what a messy race by me.. ended up in 4th place with just over 2000 points. Really gutted as I had the pace for a win. Got the fastest lap too.

Need to find some time for practice to get rid of those errors.

I would have liked to try lemans race aswell as I really like gr1 class but I still haven't done a single lap there. I guess Fia race is not the best place to do practice :D

2400 in Nations. Finished just behind Lightning and Atho due to penalties. Getting stuck behind a laggy car at the start cost me as I had to back off to avoid getting a penalty and made me consider switching strategy.

Also I have no idea why everyone was in such a rush to get out in quali. It was clear there was only time for 1 lap, yet everyone decided to go out right at the start

Sorry mate for the start, my connection suddenly got worsen just before the race and I couldn't do anything about it. I was also been compromised not to drop it as the light went on while exiting the chicane.

Anyhow, it was an OK race for me, I was saving fuel but realized that it wouldn't work. But I'm surprised no one used the Peugeot L750? It was quick and very kind on its tyres.

Very nice race yesterday for me at Le Mans Circuit.
Started in 18 position due to a stupid error that I've made during the qualifying, but at the end I took the 10 position.
Class B S

The Nations cup was crazy... I qualified 4th with the Nismo. Got divebombed in the first chicane on the straight, dropped to 16th...had a long stint basically alone until my first stop where I tried an undercut....finally finished 4th :)

Suzuka was good as well. Qualified 4th, finished 3rd ....but I need to get used to the GT-R again...

Quite a successful start (B, S)

I really wish the Nations and Manufacturers cups were held on separate days... It's so difficult finding them time to do both races, I pretty much have to settle for one or the other.
Yes, thats a problem. You need more than 2 h for both Races. No chance for me.

Would be nice if the races were every other day. Day 1 manufacturer, day 2 nations...

The struggle is real.

I often find it hard to put aside 20mins for a race C. +40mins x 2 on one day is going to be difficult to maintain.

Had a terrible Manufacturers race. Practiced about 20 laps, all of them between 2.02.2xx and 2.02.7xx.
Then qualification: opened some space in front and behind me, and started my routine, was doing wel until the corner just before the hairpin, in the esses I had to avoid a ghosted car, he immediately started following me and pit maneuvered me so I was doing 360s into the sandbox. Lap ruined. Next lap again a ghosted car in the esses, he steered onto the tarmac right in front of me (I had nowhere to go) and got solid in front of my nose, I did try to avoid contact resulting in, again, 360 and into the gravel. After that my tires were worn out, I did manage to get a 2.05 lap resulting in P17.
Race started and I immediately felt something was a bit off. It felt like the grip was much less then during the free practice session. The GTR on P18 started pushing immediately and eventually pushed me off track, placing me dead last.
I did manage to get back to P15 due to other people making mistakes and sightseeing in the sandboxes. I pitted after lap 9 and after changing my tires the car handled the same as during free practice again. Obviously I was not in a good flow so the fastest lap I managed to squeeze out was a 2.04.xxx.
Really disappointing race since the race pace of the leaders was around 2.02.6xx so it feels like a much better result should have been possible if only I would have been able to set a lap time similar to my practice session.

I think it's very strange that the car felt so much different during the race session compared to the practice session, but then again, maybe it was just me and I made the car feel nervous because of my own nerves, however, I never experienced this during daily races.

La Sarthe run was good. Nice to see most of the old people are still up top and running. You're still using controller I assume.. crazy person 👍
