Well didn’t manage to qualify. Did the race and a 2-stop to test, luckily not a black screen for the race. I think my time in that race with the Mazda can only be summed up like this:

35nksf.jpg

That goes for the strategy and the car. I thought if I can just push the hell out of it with the 2-stop (3S-5M-3S) I thought I could at least gain something. Well that fifth lap on the M was something else, going in reverse would’ve probably been faster considering the state of the rears compared to the fronts.

In the last race of the manufacturers yesterday......at the pit stop.......after running softs on the first stint.....I accidentally put softs on for the second stint. Rip

Apart from that it was a fun race.

Oh one thing.....what is wrong with people who dive up the inside of you on a quali hotlap when it’s obvious everyone is following the car in front with slipstream? Idiots

Sorry to hear that. It seems like tyres are a huge problem for the 4WD cars round Spa.

Had two good races tonight. Although I dropped one place in each race they were good fun.
Qualified P6 in 1st & P5 in 2nd.
I had the wrong tyre strategy on both, used hards for 2 laps in 1st race as I hadn't read the rules & thought best play it safe, then read an earlier post from Cerebal303* who had done the same
2nd race, stayed out too long on mediums.
Going 4S 3M 4S for last one. Hopefully everyone is as clean a racer as in the previous ones 👍

First FIA race in ages. Qualified down in 13th. Would have been on pole but I was judged to have just gone over the line by millimetres and picked up a penalty with 2 corners to go so had to do next lap on worn tires :(

Started on mediums and run 6 laps and then did 5 on softs. Happy with overall result but could have been better if I had got that pole!!

So... Manufacturers Cup - Ferrari 458

I worked from home today, so I was able to make first slot again. Had a mediocre quali, started in p9. First stint, 7 laps on medium while fuel saving then last 4 pushing hard on softs. Strategy paid off, managed to finish in P6 for 95 points. Not bad, but could be better - as I was alone at home, my girlfriend being at the gym, told myself to have another go.

Slot 2 - good quali, started in P4 - but made a shame of a first lap and got myself in 8th at its end. Then kept my position, pited at the end of 6th lap and managed to get 1 place back and finished 7th for 92 points. Thought I could do better, still alone then slot 3.

Slot 3 - Stronger lobby, objective was a p7 to get 97 points. Messed up quali, started 10, pited at end of lap 6, and pushed on softs, managed to get to 8th with a real shot of 7th in the last lap. Fought to hard, missed my brake went a bit too wide in the hairpin(don't know the names of the corners) - finished P10 - 80 points. Completely disappointed - decided a last try.

Slot 4 - Strongest lobby by far, I was door number 19. Decent quali, started in P7. There was some bug at the start, which started the pack as it should be, close together. First stint, fuel saving stayed mostly p5-p6, then people started to pit and I got as far as P2. Then end of lap 6 pited for the softs and fuel, got out in P8. Managed to get past the Lexus in P7 fast than had a very nice battle with an SLS and a Porsche up until the end. Top 6 was in 4 second range - managed to get up to 4th but got a 1s penalty for going too wide in 2 turns and served it in the last lap. I followed closely the Merc and the Porsche and although I closed the distance did not manage to get past. Finished in P6, but got a gift for the guy in P3 which did not use mediums. Final result - P5 and 105 points. Decided to call it a night

Interesting fact, in 4 races I was the only Ferrari. Even Citroen had 3 drivers.

1st race tonight I managed to get 5th in qualifying after finding a good driver to follow for the whole lap. Unfortunately the race didn't go as well, as when I tried to let a guy past at the end of the Kemmel straight, the guy behind him decided to go for it as well, knocking me off the track and causing himself to spin. I got a 4 second penalty and then just slowly drifted back through the field as my tyres melted.

2nd go, didn't quite get as good a qualifier so started 8th, but this time my path of non-interference worked. I just spent the whole race letting faster cars through and trying to stay out of trouble, which ended putting me in 6th on the last lap - desperately trying to hold onto the guys ahead with my used up mediums (5M pit 6M). The 2 guys ahead started to fight, which dropped us all back into the clutches of the guy behind and we basically had 4 cars going for the corner on the last chicane.

Amazingly I managed to come out relatively unscathed, and because of the weird penalty system randomly giving out penalties (If anyone can work out why he got a 4 second penalty then I will be impressed), I ended up 4th with 259 points :)

Manufacturers @ Spa
Good grief, these first rounds have been absolute hell for qualifying. After getting stuck behind a slow Irish driver in the Nations yesterday, this time I got stuck behind an extremely slow Toyota who was damn insistent that I was not coming past even though I had closed a huge gap on him. In my desperation to get past I earned myself a penalty that had to be served on the second lap, and thus qualifying was an absolute waste of time. I was absolutely raging.

I started P20, with the Toyota in P17. I was already planning on a 6M-5S 1-stop so I guess it was time to put the long game to the test.

The first couple of laps were torture. So much contact, and a collision up front at Les Combes on lap 1 spun an Aston Martin out, sending him from P3 to the back and making it all the more intense as he was desperate to get back up there.

Thankfully, the strategy paid off and once I managed to get a break on the fighting I was able to push forward. Between some overtakes, collisions between other drivers and free positions due to penalties being served I managed to get all the way up to P6 for 101 points.

Seeing the winner's end race time was very frustrating as I knew from practice that I could have beaten it by 10 seconds, but I didn't go again. I'll take the points and fight another day rather than risking it. Its only the second time I have ever scored 100+ points from a race and though I could earn more I think I would prefer to bank them.

Wow. That was one of the worst races by me but also subtle dirty by the others. Just stupid.
Longer text will follow in edit.

Qualifying went ok-ish, in the Toyota 86 I was dependent on having slipstream to be competitive. After some messing around before the start of the laps (looked very similar to F1 in Monta last year) I had slipstream but unfortunately it was the only other 86 in the lobby. He had slipstream as well so not too bad, although I had to overtake him in my lap. P12.

Race start was unusual, almost binned it in turn 8 which caused the cars behind to catch up and I got a 0.5 second penalty. A stupid idiot had pushed me wide so I fell down to P15.
Then I lost another position, there was slight contact and I got an undeserved 2 second penalty, and I fell back to P18.
Then I got lucky due to people rage quitting and I got up to P13.
In the last lap I could've had P12, but a stupid Spaniard pushed me wide twice. So still P13.

For Spa, I managed to qualify 4th in the trusty Lexus. Started on the mediums and did a 5 lap stint. Switched to the hards, refueled and had a relatively uneventful drive to 5th place. I'll call that a night with 135 points to open the season.

Pretty clean race other than a couple guys on fresher tires barging their way by, but not too bad.

A/S lobby. 5 PM North American slot.

Last slot of Manu in EMEA and No practice, qualified p8 in softs but got pushed on lap 2 so had to put lap 3, tires where medium but the spin killed then.
Gassed up and chose hards, pressed on from 18 after pitting up to 8, then a final pitstop on lap 8, chose mediums and took of as 18 again.
Because of one player in a BMW who wouldn't let me pass on fresh tires it took me a while to get goin but ended up as p14, door number 16. 27 points.
There where 3 Mustang's in the race, it would appear that Ford rose in popularity.

My 3rd attempt of the evening didn't quite go to plan, of course
Held up in qualifying, even though I sat in the pits till the 1 min mark, qualified 6th, which starts you mid corner.
Race went well, came out L8 on softs, unfortunately left pits with 3 battling racers coming down the straight so couldn't take advantage of fresh tyres for quite a while.
Penultimate lap up to P5 with plans to to pass a GT-R with no apparent grip, but, unforced error sees me lose a place. Same result as previous races, one position down from start.
It was good clean racing & best of all I didn't disconnect 👍

Race 2 as an A+ driver: got murdered again, this time in the Manufacturer's Cup. Started the race as the only Corvette in the room, in 2nd(?) split. Qualified 16th, finished 15th and within shot of 14th. Got 104 points.

Contrast this with Spa last season in the Nations series, also Gr. 4 and 11 laps, and I started 2nd and finished 3rd there with 154 points against Mid-A level drivers.

The good news is that if I keep this up, I'll easily fall back to DR A before the next "real" season starts without even trying...

Lots of fun racing last night but ultimately missed out on a 250pt score due to some nasty driving from others.

Highlight of the night goes to the final slot that turned into absolute madness. Timestamped for fun:

Glad I managed to qualify away from all the shenanigans for once.

I started P7 in my SLS and decided to go with a 5M/3S/3S strategy. I had an Two SLS’s and two 86’s ahead and figured I could keep pace on the mediums.
After my L5 pit to softs and full tank, I came out 14. Between picking people off and pitters, by L9 I’m in 3rd. I pit again and come out 12th. My new softs had me chasing people down and I pass my last driver on the last lap just before the long final stretch. I almost catch 6th but ended where I started, in P7 with 81 points.

Great race overall...I didn’t see any stupidity..

The first race of the evening didn’t go so well in the big boy room. Everyone got bunched up in qualifying and shot themselves in the foot, including myself. Started P19 on Mediums and pitted on lap 6 for softs, finished P15 after 3 people quit.

Race 2 went much better. This time I made sure that I was nowhere near another car in Q, ran a 27.7 and ended up starting P6. I went with the same strategy in this race with one exception, I was trying to be easier on the tires, I absolutely killed both sets in the first race by trying to push too hard. It definitely helped, I had enough tire left at the end to push a bit on the last lap to pass another Jag driver who was clearly struggling with his tires by that point. I’m gonna take my points and run. :)

You and I were in the same race! (Race 2 for you) Too bad I didn't see you the entire race . I was in the black Corvette almost anchoring the field.

Awesome! I’m sorry that I didn’t realize it at the time though or I’d have said Hello. :) It’s always nice to share the track with fellow GTP members, maybe next time we’ll get to do a few laps together.

Thanks, but I doubt I'll ever be fast enough to keep up with you, except at Blue Moon Bay!:lol:
