GR3 very to drive i agree. Maybe focus more on GR4 races, as it is a very good car.

@Zorz - Do you think putting TC to 1 would help? Have you tried?
Yeah, tried all the different TC settings. They helped to reduce some problems but ended up creating others. Just not a car that I'm skilled enough to drive yet I guess.

How's everyone feeling about the next round? I'm a bit nervous about Brands Hatch, but quite looking forward to Fuji.

I like going time attack mode at Brands Hatch, but racing there is always quite nerve-wracking with how narrow it is. :scared: I don't think I've ever raced it in Group 3 before (or at least not for a very long time!!).

I'm off work this week so I put a load of practice into Fuji yesterday since it's a track I'm not particularly familiar with. Already made lots of progress on bringing my lap times down considerably, so I'm feeling quite confident. Managed a 1:41.9 in race conditions with no slipstream after pitting for my second set of softs. From the public lobbies I was in, I'm hoping that will be extremely competitive at the ~25k DR range.

What strategies are people going for? I'm thinking 6M-4H-6S at Brands Hatch and 4M-5S-5S at Fuji. I tried 1-stopping Fuji but the tyres were so worn at the end of each stint it made the technical sections horrendously slow; especially at the end of the soft stint.

At Brands Hatch in the Nations race you are probably going to want to use the softer tyres first, so S>M>H or M>S>H, and just try and make the softer tyres last for as long as possible. Trying to overtake at Brands Hatch is very difficult, so just try to keep circulating and not make any mistakes. Probably something like 7 laps on mediums, 7 laps on softs, and then a couple on hards. The races on this track are normally decided by mistakes, so don't make any and you will be fine :)

For Fuji I think you will probably just need to try and save tyres (and maybe a smidge of fuel) and do a 1 stop. Depends on the car, but in the race I tried yesterday I was able to do 7 laps on mediums to begin with and then just try and hold the slipstream. I then swapped onto another sets of mediums, but a lot of people were able to go onto softs. Just try to be gentle into the braking zones (end of the 2 straights) and try to be easy on the long right hander (I was basically coasting around there).

So I started my first FIA Manufacturer championship. I am B/S rated driver (15-16k points) and usually fare pretty good in the races managing a top 7 finish most of the time. After the Sydney event I picked BMW since I like the brand and I've seen it was competitive having won the race. To my huge disappointed I found out how slow am I with the M4 Gr.4. At Spa my fasted free practice time was 2.30.5 after a lot of laps. Just to compare I tried a lap in the Megane Trophy and on my first lap I managed a 2.26.5 without any special care.

Now, I'm sure I can improve my driving style to better fit the Beamer, but 4 seconds seem way too much to find. Did I just pick the wrong manufacturer?

Loop up Nico Rubilar in YT and look into his races. Shift the M4 at 80%, don’t rev it out. I’m around your DR level and do around 2:28 in Spa, so I can’t really give a lot of tips beyond that ;)

I just started doing FIA races at the end of last year. I am in D lobbies so I'm not very good, but in the Nations race at Red Bull I got 12th and got 24 points. I guess because there were a few A drivers in the race the points were higher? Then I raced again in all D lobby and got 15th, and only 2 points. I didn't know that would erase the better score, I just thought they took the top one. It isn't very clear. Anyway that sucked but since I'll never be better I'll just take the first race next time! I follow Super GT and Kie on Youtube but I'd like to find some people who have more full tutorial stuff. Anyway go team Lexus.
PSN Jessd76
Tidgney has tutorials for every aspect and they're really in depth. He streams on Twitch now but he has a YouTube channel and I think that's where his tutorials are.

I do agree with you @Ashthebash / I see a lot of rage regarding Quali drama. I believe this is part of the game in a sense of if you wish to get slip stream of the player ahead of you (which is a huge advantage), you are exposed also to driver's mistake or penalty.

For me, it's a bit of a gamble, so I prefer to burn fuel and be on my own to avoid drama. I might be slower vs. Tow (or both Fuel burning + Tow) but with one flying lap (most of the time), it's not worth to take the risk (at least for me),
Another thing with me, I tend to only have the time for one shot at these FIAs so ruining a qualy lap chasing a few tenths makes the whole race situation pretty much unsavable. I'd much rather qualify solid like on Wednesday - even though it wasn't a stellar lap - than find myself down near the back simply because of traffic. Then if you find yourself behind a few who did have a tow (like I'm sure I did), you have better relative pace anyway. If someone needs a tow to qualify a couple of tenths ahead of me then they're going to do well to keep me behind in the race :D

That's great advice and agreed, Fuji is a one stop for sure (apart from probably the FF and 4WD peeps). Pit loss seems around 10 seconds so you'd need a drastic drop off in lap time to consider a two stopper.

I've only done one 14 lap run but it wasn't so bad. I did lose it on the last lap when on softs but I was pushing to catch someone so my own fault really.

Should be a good race with a real variety of manufacturers being competitive. I assumed it would be an FR track but I've seen really quick laps by people in NSX's, 4C's and 86's too.

Loving these races where you have to use each compound. Really adds a bit of strategy to it all.

As in I was coming 2nd in a practice with the guy in front just breaking slipstream. We both started on softs. With medium runners behind us as soon as we pitted we’d come out in traffic. For sure.

So I tried something different. Refuelled at the first stop and went mediums. I was running a lap on hards previously during mid race with low fuel.

Anyway it was just a lot of fun seeing different strategies play out. I still came 2nd but the dude had to overtake me on track to get the win.

TRL_LIGHTNING just won the last race at Spa with the Megane Trophy, despite losing over 0.5 sec on the front AND backstraights (even with slipstream) I'm convinced that he could turn up to the upcoming N300 race in a truck and still win it

On that note, I'm pleasantly surprised by the Citroen Gr.4 car. One of the most neutral handling Gr.4, very good on tyres and 7 gears so it fuel saves like a champ. Only drawback is lack of top end, but it's not a brick like the Evo/WRX/86/Megane/Alfa in its class so you can stick with the slipstream of faster cars. I don't know how the Gr.3 car is, but I'm surprised they haven't been a regular World Tour participant so far. Instead of Pug train maybe the aliens could form a Citroen alliance this year

FRs for the win. Those RSRs and RS01s were all over the place. Rear ends were going this way and that way.

RC F is solid as a rock. Awesome speed on all compounds. Did 7RM/5H/4RS. Fuel was 3.9 laps at first pit stop. I fill to 8 laps. Second stop, I topped up to 4.3 laps. Ran qualy laps til the end. Had a group of four MR cars going so slow. One player in one of the RSRs nearly had me off. It wound up going off and ghosted as I passed thru.

I'm happy with this one. Finally, the "META" qualy car doesn't win. Oh and not one Audi R8. 👍

I think I spoke too soon. I just did a @pantherjag style test of running a 1 stopper and then a 2 stopper against the AI. 1 stopper was 7M/7S and the 2 stopper was 4M/5S/5S. The finishing times were EXACTLY THE SAME

A 2 stopper will put you in traffic but you can push the tyres a lot more. I'm sure anyone who's better at conserving tyres than I am will find a 1 stopper quicker, but good to know there's a different strategy that could work. Not sure what to do now....

I did a 1 stop and 2 stop test also in the Jag. I was 6 seconds quicker doing the 2 stop! Was all set for a 1 stop strategy!

I’m planning to go 7M/7M tomorrow I think.

Definitely not the tidiest race I've ever been in

B/S lobbies.

First race, there is an PR1 account with a Renault and promptly won by 30ish seconds. I started 3rd, drop to 8th after punted on T2. Finished 3rd

Second race, Started 5th with medium . In 4th after carnage as a car in front of me spun after T2. was 3 second behind leader when I follow the car in front and spun out. Finished 2nd losing by 5 seconds, would have won if not for that brain fade

7M/1H/8S seems a good strategy if starting near the front with Atenza and have clear track after the pits.

I'm assuming something mid-engine is the car of choice for Nations today? Is there anything worth recommending, or are all of the cars on the leaderboard good choices?

GTPlanet FAQ
Why does GTPlanet have unusual rules?

GTPlanet’s Acceptable Use Policy applies across all areas of the website and is somewhat unusual on the Internet due to its request for “decent grammar” and the prohibition of “txtspk”.

Such rules are often met with confusion and contempt by some new users. However, GTPlanet is not just another disposable “video game forum” – it is a community and a home for thousands of like-minded people which has thrived for more than a decade. These rules have always been in place, and remind everyone to put a little more thought into what they’re contributing to the community. In turn, this creates a more pleasant and attractive place for everyone.

The only bit that's ever worried me in the AUP is "you will not knowingly post false information" because I'm pretty sure I've made several posts on this forum that imply I have any idea what I'm doing in life.

The PS4 text entry system allows for capital letters, all sorts of punctuation, and even has a text autocomplete function with a real dictionary - so there's little reason to skip capital letters, punctuation, and use words like "gon".

We do not delete accounts. This is also in the FAQ.

You definitely want something stable with good cornering as top speed is irrelevant at brands hatch. 911, RC-F, RS01 and the R8 are all solid cars here

Still debating which car to use for Nations tonight. Did a few runs in different cars last night. Got my best time in the Mustang, but had most fun in the M6, so will prob use M6 in the 1st race I enter then see from there.
Just another 1 1/2 hours till I finish work, so hopefully I'll get to read a race report or two before I jump in.
Good luck to all those going for the 1st slot 👍

Guy in a practice lobby made the very brave decision of trying to use the GT-R, couldn't think of a worse circuit for it tbh

Can confirm as a Nissan driver in Manu that Brands Hatch might be the worst track possible for both cars.

Interesting penalty distribution this afternoon:

Started 16th. Somehow spun coming out of the last corner after the auto-start, went down to 20th. Drove the whole race like Mr. Magoo, completely oblivious to and isolated from the carnage unfolding around me. Quite happy, considering I was #19.
