So BB 2 for the Cayman at Suzuka made such a difference from 0 or even 1. Started P2 with 2:11.1xx qual and 0.8s off from P1 (also in the Cayman). Finished P2 and 0.1s off from P1 who did L13/14 on RH for some reason. Final time was 31:29. Ran absolutely lights out minus a 0.5s cut penalty. Was getting low 212s on the mediums in the race which I was pleasantly surprised with. Think I did 8-5-1 ... basically pitted for the mediums when P1 decided to. Had a cooshy 20s lead over P3 at that point.

More importantly, SR jump from 55 to 88.

I didn't have high expectations coming into today's Manu as no matter how much I practice, I'm not very fast at Suzuka.

I qualy P9 and run a 1H/5M/8S strategy. I'm pleasantly surprised to see that I'm the only driver to pit after L1 and it proved to be a good decision. I slowly work my way up the grid, trying to be patient and not forcing anything. By L11 I'm in P8 and come up on a trio jostling for P5. I stay close behind them but stay out of the fray. One of them gets bumped into the sand at Degner Curve and one of the other drivers gets a 2 sec penalty for it. I move up to P6 when he serves his penalty and get up tight to P5. I have better pace and looks like better tires for the final lap. I follow him tight in the esses hoping to pressure him into a mistake. Then the penalty system raises it's ugly head.

I barely tap his bumper coming out of the esses. Literally barely touch him. I get a 2 sec penalty. I tried to edit the replay to show you all but apparently trying to ffwd causes the game to crash now.

I lose two positions due to the penalty and cross the line in P7. And then a bunch of tire penalties got handed out. A bunch. I move up to P5 and the guy I'm sure I would've passed if it wasn't for the 2 sec bumper kiss get P3.

Oh, well. I'm done for now. I have no desire to go kart racing right now and doubt I'll finish much higher if I ran this one again.

Only had time to do 1 nations race and 1 manufacturer race tonight.

The nations race went well, qualified 3rd and i finished 2nd.

The manufacturer race was the complete opposite, it was pure aids. My quali lap was ruined by some guy who was sitting on the racing line while doing his outlap, so i started towards the back of the grid. I got a good start and made up a couple of places on the opening lap and then i was stuck behind some french guy who had a bad internet connection and he was swerving across the track blocking me at every opportunity, which caused both of us to spin out 2 laps later.

Well my one and only race today because of work was an absolute disaster.

Qualified 15 because somebody blocked me between Degner 1 and 2.

Game made me start on softs even though I selected mediums before the race. Game decided to reset my brake bias so I went off at turn 1 twice. Got punted into a spin at the chicane because some idiot went full send from WAY too far back. And finally kept messing up spoon and basically drifted it.

Finished 16th and there was no way I was waiting until 11:40pm to do a race.

I do NOT like how they've organised these races because of a stupid road car championship. I mean, Nations AND Manufacturers on the same day? What are they thinking?

Edit - Oh yeah, and I was getting some incredibly annoying lag that was preventing me from properly racing anybody.

If your game crashes when you try to fast forward a replay, it means the replay save is corrupted or incomplete. If the replay screenshot doesn't display the run time, it didn't save the complete replay file, and won't allow you to fast forward.

Only bothered with the manufacturers round as I don't like driving the karts at all they're far to twitchy. First go was a disaster with an ok qualifying putting me mid pack in the huracán and just spend the race making a couple of stupid mistakes and made poor use of my tyres and finished near the back somewhere. Second attempt I had an awful qualifying starting P16. So I therefore started in the hard tyre and pitted at the end of lap 1 for mediums. After a good stint in clean air I pitted again at the end of lap 7 for some tyres and to top up in fuel. I then made good progress and time up the field with others strategies playing out jumping me up the pack and in 7th with one lap to go. Last lap was spent defending but a little bit of contact at the last corner (the offending culprit didn't overtake which was very sporting) dropped me to 8th which was a decent result given the car and qualifying result moving up 8 positions in total!

Red bull ring should be a much stronger track with the group 3 car so yay!

Suzuka is always a track of conservation. It is a very one line track, mostly, at speed. I don't think that you will find many people who didn't have an off track moment or went anywhere near their best practice race time!

GTS is a total waste of time. Can’t understand why I bothered to give it a second chance. Back to Iracing it is, and the kids can happily continue to ram each other in Kaz’s ****** excuse for an esport Racing sim.

I think that if you are basing your assumption on the FIA races on Gtsport, then you are incorrect. The FIA races are an amateur competition. The only way to avoid lower rated drivers is to limit the DR rating (which can be and is done in lobbies) or charge lots (like IRacing does).
I see both practices as awful but fair and probably the only practical way to deal with this. :(

Decided to change it up this season and switched from Toyota to BMW. Probably a risky move given that Toyota just gave me my best season so far, but with the new tweaks from 1.57 the BMW's felt really good during testing.

And of course you need to have a solid set of liveries to go with the manufacturer change. Taking inspiration from this designer's mockup I created a pair of opposites for these cars. Really happy with how they turned out.

They were apparently good luck charms as well since I went one-and-done with my best points result to date by finishing 2nd at Suzuka tonight. For the first half of the race I held onto a 0.7s gap to the Mustang in P1 while we pulled well away from the pack. The M4 is still thirstier than I was prepared for though so I ended up having to take on 2 laps of fuel at our first stop which screwed my hopes of fighting for 1st over the rest of the race. P2 is good enough for now.

The outright victory still eludes me. Maybe this season...

I had a mixed race at Suzuka, jumped in not knowing what car to choose, no practice and having tanked my dr at monza by 10k back down to middle A. So I went with Ferrari because I thought, I’m just going to race this season for fun and the sound of both Ferrari’s is intoxicating.
Anyway 3 minutes warm up and oh wow what have the done the the gr4 Ferrari I was all over the shop, ah well let’s see how this goes.
Found space in qually did 2 flying laps neither great, qualified p14, a little disappointing but not surprising with no practice. Race started me on the chicane but I survived ok and kept the slip, sat behind a group of 5 who were messing about and I was easily faster, was tempted to ditch the meds and 2 stint on softs to see if I could jump them but never did. A Renault caught me up on softs but couldn’t get passed and I was in no intention of letting him buy knowing I was being held up myself. As expected lap 4 it kicked off and I found myself in p9 with the Renault around a second behind. Pitted lap 6 for softs in p11 I think and came out in front of a Porsche who decided to just rear end me and drive off.
Back down to p14 and behind the group again spent a few laps playing catch up but picked up 2 corner cuts at the chicane which slowed me down massively. Through pit stops, mistakes and some crazy ramming by 2 guys taking each other out. I found myself back up to p9 and my final stop dropped me back to p11 with p7 in site.
The game was very laggy tonight not seen it like that before.
Overall happy with Ferrari, not sure I prefer the gr4 to how it used to be but my general pace was good enough for top 5 had I actually practiced. See you at red bull ring

I just finished the manufacturer race...with a 1 minute penalty and no answer why. I ran out of fuel, stopped once for mediums and started on hards. If it was the fuel, I can deal with that. Can someone let me know how I screwed this one up?

nope. All tire compounds are required. Since you didn’t run softs, it’s a 60 second penalty.

@Hasnain282 has the race schedule, including mandatory tire requirements, in his signature. It’s the most useful signature here!

Why isn't that on the front of the entry! How the 🤬 is someone who doesn't do this constantly going to know you have to use all compounds! And why are there no mandatory stops if this is the case!

This was another monumental waste of time. Go 🤬 figure.

It is listed in the race information, and also listed in the room lobby before you race. It's up to you to read the information available.

Common complaint, but it’s right on the race entry page. It even blinks. Most of these races will have mandatory requirements, so it’s worth a look when you enter.

how many others took the pen?

So after doing the last round with Hyundai, I struggled to decide whether I’d hold with Hyundai, go back to Jag, or sign with VW since the Scirocco was given some help.

After some reflection, I remembered I score best in Gr 4 cars, and I just click with the gr 4 F-Type.

I had a really terrible time at Suzuka last round, so I put some time in practicing.

It paid off with me taking the pole by .042 with a slow-ish lap for me. The top 3 races together for the first 4-5 laps. I traded spots back to second a couple times, but was able to get past on the straights each time. Once the pit stops started, I took the clear lead. I went 8 laps on the softs (the only one, I think) and had a 8 second gap after my pit stop.

Clear sailing from there. I pit on the last lap for hards, and came out with a 4 second lead. I took it nice and easy and....

I beat my personal best point haul by 20 points. I hope this season is as good to me as the last season was!

It seems no one but me in the D lobbies heard about the new 60 second tire penalty. Using Mitsubishi cause I loved the Lancer Evos back in GT 2 days. I started 7th and was up to 4th before I screwed up and finished 9th. But after the penalties were applied I got bumped up to 3rd! I don't know if I should celebrate it as my first real FIA podium finish, but I'm gonna anyway, haha.

It doesn't blink. Tire wear for qualifying, race, and race fuel blink.
And what the 🤬 does that mean if you have never seen it? I know what it means NOW, but without any foreknowledge that is useless. When I looked at it initially, because while I am stupid I'm not brain dead, my first thought wasn't "Use these all once" it was "Why is this here? They already restricted selections, this is redundant."

Maybe this started with S2 or one of the exhibition series, but my last FIA race was the end of S1.

Again, it is also listed in the bottom right of the room lobby for the race itself.
Except it wasn't on mine. I looked for anything not normally there before qualifying, I was debating changing tires and looking over the screen between qualifying and the race. Nothing out of the norm seen. I look for this so that THIS doesn't happen.

@BKGlover It's no biggy. There's still many more races to come and only the best 3 will be counted in the end  Just keep it in mind for next time and move on 👍
Maybe, maybe not. Being last-split sub-trash on a good day doesn't help, and stupid screwball gimmicks don't help the motivation to get involved.

There's one more race tonight, I will not be beaten by the system, that's what the other 19 drivers are for.
