So, after getting my first 2 wins ever last week and several top 5s at Tsukuba my rating was up within 500 pts of C. Then I did Manu race in Tokyo with Mitsubishi, big mistake, lost over 1000 pts. After some bad other races back down to less than 1000 pts. The only way I'm going to get to C is to ignore races I have no real shot in. I think Mitsu at Le Sarthe is one of those races. Not enough speed. Anyone agree/disagree, got tips for me in building my rating up?

I'm in a similar position (but without the 2 wins - congrats!). I've spent a few brief moments in DR C, but keep dropping back to DR D through bad performances on my part plus disconnections. I think I have a different outlook though. While I'd like to get to C and stay there, it's not necessarily my goal. I enjoy the FIA races so I enter all of them even if it's not a great car/track combo for me. I figure that any experience I get now is helpful in the long run.

I also enter the daily races that look like fun for me. My goals are to stay on the track, drive clean, and get the most of the car that I can each race. I figure the DR rating will work itself out over time and I'll eventually get to higher levels as long as I continue to improve. The improvement is moving slowly but steadily for me right now :)

Circuit de la Sarthe was my favourite track to race on back when I played PCARS, but oh wow the track limit penalties are infuriating on GTS! Qualified 14th after two 0.5 second penalties in my one lap. In the race, I made sure to keep it clean and avoid penalties at all costs. The strategy paid dividend, and one by one I passed drivers who veered too wide on the hard braking corners. I was sitting in 8th on the final lap, before two more drivers came out of the pit just behind me. I had racked up a whopping two seconds of track limit penalties which gave them back 6th place, but had a nice battle with them and managed to reclaim the 6th position. Driving for Porsche, it may be unlikely I'll do better than that. Happy, but kind of annoyed because I actually have loads of time for a few more rounds tonight!

I'm also noticing drivers are a lot more clean the past few while, but maybe that's just because I'm steadily moving up my DR.

Yeah, it's not like I care too much about rating. I'd just like to get to C once, to say that I did. Then if I dipped down again, so be it. I can't be scared to race because of losing, otherwise I'll never get any better. I have been grinding for over 400 races and no days off since who knows, so I think taking off until Saturday to get my mind sorted is a good idea.

Final attempt at the night. Qualified 2nd with a 58.5, beaten by an NWS driver in an AMG who did a 55. He has a DR of 41k, and 36 wins from 78 races. Clearly an alien levelling up an account. He was a complete dick all race, he tried to bait me into the pit at the end of the opening lap. The next lap he went in for new tyres anyway. Maybe he got bored.

I ended up finishing 3rd after catching up to the last no-stopper. I tried to pass him through the Ford chicanes but he forced me to the outside and didn't give me much room, and I got a track limits penalty after we made contact. I don't know how I was supposed to have avoided that, but I didn't mind that so much since I went for it and we were both fair. 177 points in the end up, and I doubt I'm going to do much better.

The charge through the field on mediums was much more perilous this time. Big hand to the French guy in a GT-R who knew I was on better tyres than he was and was trying to go side by side on the straight. And through Indianapolis. I got stuck in a sandwich there on one lap but made it out, thankfully.

At last! PP and win 113pts:) back to sr S. It It was hard work. Made a mistake at 2nd corner so Gtr pass me before straight, which was good, I used his slipstream for a lap, then 911 and other car which I dont remember catch us and pass. My only hope was theyre on Mediums. On 5th lap Gtr made a mistake and go to beach holidays. Two leaders drove away about 6s, but on lap 6 they pitted:D From this moment I knew just to not make mistake, and I didnt:) what a day... Hamilton was right: never give up;)

57.0 in practice with the AMG... I'm not quick so I'll consider that a half decent time for B/S?
Going to try the no-stopper on the hards, should be nice enough to drive. Hopefully I can pull a half decent result this round

Comepletely botched my qualifying in my only slot I have time for, starting 18th out of 19. Eventually made the no stop work and finished 12th, given my qualifying quite pleased:D

So many people fighting for position though on the straights midrace, lost the tow a couple of times their, a little overly cautious.

I don’t know if this chart is still relevant since the DR cap increase, but it was helpful before anyways. :)

Wow, that is some serious psychological warfare right there !
Did I understand it that you did Quali on Hard tires and then did the race on Hard from start to finish ?
Yep. I did a 4:00.xxx. only the pole AMG did a 3:59.xxx.

During qualy, I was behind a Supra. Stayed out of its draft as much as I could to keep a gap. A Genesis was behind somewhat in my draft, but I could pull away.

When we started our lap, the Supra was started to slip. After the second chicane, it messed up and I closed in. Supra gave me room and I pulled away.
An R8 had lost the rear end. I caught it's draft and feathered the throttle, because now the Porsche curves are coming. Was able to keep my distance and pace, to set a good time.

I always qualify on the slow tyre, to get used to the grip. Besides, if I can set a really close time, to those on the faster tyre, I know my true race pace. I'll only be quicker and more confident on the fast tyre.;)

Another thing, having looked at the last lap. Again, the tyre warmth was a huge factor. The AMG was loose in the rear from cold tyres nearly all lap until the final couple corners. My tyres were nice and "scrubbed", if you will.

Do you know how much time do you lose while pitting?

12s I think,
My logic is I’m not overly confident with the Ferrari on hards but I love this track so want to race.
Pit lap 1, you can guarantee there will be chaos and penalties and I’ll then be 1-3s a lap faster and have more confidence in the Ferrari to push on.
I know 6med 1 hard is only just slower so thinking my way be faster in a real race situation.

He’s got me by 1.2(Jag) and 1.9(Alfa) too!
Well you're 4 seconds quicker than me in B/S so I think you'll be fine
Lol I really seem to like Lemans then...
Finished my first split, Qualified 5th (Door 16), bit of a bad one since I had a .5 from the out lap and a .5 through the first chicane (which I'm sure I didn't cut)
2.4 off leader, 2nd was 1.2 off so I should've came at least 2nd (with no slipstream)
Race started, 5th place gets placed halfway through the final corner so I was 1.5 away from P4 and 1.8 away from P6 before we reached Dunlop
Took advantage of some errors and found myself up in P2, but I was too inconsistent through Tetre Rouge's exit and got myself around 5 pens there. Lap 6 came and the top 3 cars pitted (was P4 after the Merc in P2 spun on the final corner), was 12 away from the lead. Came out 1.5 away but again another penalty through Tetre Rouge meant that I had to settle for P2 for 137 pts and +1.4k DR (29.9k now). Thinking of doing another one.

Finally got a result on the board after 6 rounds! 2 disconnects and 3 missed rounds! Found it quite a draining race. Ready for bed now!!

Qualified 7th and had already lost the tow By the time I got to the straights. Ended up pairing with another Porsche for the race, 4 seconds behind leading pack and with the breakaway pack finally starting to make mistakes later on, managed to get into the tow of a couple of cars to catch and pass. Race was won by a 4C!

Didn't go into this with much expectations as it's not one of my strong tracks. Luckily I managed to get a slipstream but then proceeded to get a penalty at Terte Rouge. Somehow still ended up qualifying mid pack.
The race was just about staying in the slipstream but messed up Mulsanne on lap 1 and lost it but got it back when a car on mediums came charging through. After that was just trying to stay out of trouble and the last lap was just one big pack of cars. Ended up gaining a load of positions at Arnage thanks to this (see clip) and ended up higher than I was expecting.

Highlights

Quali didn't go well today. Got a nice gap to the guy in front but then he binned it going into Tetre Rouge and then ended up hitting me. Managed to keep going but with no slipstream all I was really doing was towing the guys behind. Then another guy spun in front of me at Mulsanne and for some reason decided it was a good idea to race me. 11th :(

Race went better though. Slowly picked my way up through the field, mostly as other people picked up penalties but had a couple of overtakes, and ended up going into the last lap in 2nd and only about a second behind the leader (I think the guys at the front had a few issues as I should never have been close). I did try a few little feints but I just couldn't make anything clear cut and there was no way I was punting someone off on the last lap. Finished 0.1 behind the winner and only a couple of tenths ahead of the guy behind, so call that race a success :)

Was nice to be in a good car for a change, even if the Jag is a pig through the porsche curves. Pretty sure that will be the last good race for the Jag.

2nd race, exactly the same outcome. Door 16, Q5, P2 in the end. My quali was 2 seconds faster than last split, but this lobby was predominantly A/S, me being the highest B driver in DR, so I expected the racing to be much closer.
Race immediately started with a mistake. I was overzealous on the throttle coming out of the final corner, and I lost P5 to an SLS, car in P7 being a McLaren F1 which predictably cruised by us down Mulsanne and was in P1 by 6 seconds come Lap 6.
SLS made a mistake after I overtook it, putting me back up to P6, and I overtook another car to get up to P5. This time there was a slipstream train (about 1 sec between each car) up to P2, with 2 GTR's leading the group, a Supra behind, and me in the end. First GTR made a mistake and dropped to P4, so I had a better SS run to catch up to the Supra. Supra loses out to the GTR in the first Mulsanne chicane, but almost parks on the apex so I couldn't get past. SR down, no penalty luckily.
Supra in the end made a mistake, and so did the other GTR, so I was within 1 second of the Nissan in P2. McLaren pitted, opening the final lap with a classic 1v1 battle for P1, with the Supra being 4 seconds behind.
GTR makes a mistake into T1, 1 sec penalty, I get past through the penalty zone, am .4 ahead into Mulsanne Corner's braking zone. Run down to Arnage, GTR just flew past me, nothing I could do and was very cautious not to cause an accident into Arnage so I braked a bit early. GTR made a mistake on the final corner, putting me .2 behind across the finish... probably my closest finish margin that wasn't a win. 145 pts, +3k DR so I'm finally in A/S!

Well, that first race was a bit messy. I was Door #2, courtesy of losing almost 2000 DR yesterday grinding my SR back up to 99 from the Nations race. For qualy I waited a bit to let some of the field go by for a draft, but that was a mistake. On the outlap (the OUTLAP, not the flying lap) everyone in front slowed down and I almost went into the back of two cars. This kept occurring until I finally found a stable space entering the hotlap. Except I started catching up to some of the people in front, no big deal, I'll bump draft them. Except they start binning it, so now I'm in clean air. Well, still on course to qualify with no penalties, right? Wrong. Some people blow it in the final chicane, and one guy decides to drive back onto the middle of the track... right where I was about to come flying through, landing me a 1 second penalty right at the finish. So, while my crappy qualifying time would've netted me 10th, I ended up 15th due to having no qualifying time. Next race, definitely just going out first, draft or not, my clean lap times were 3 seconds faster than my qualifying times being blocked by people.

Race time, immediately gain two spots as some people screw up the chicane. There's a huge group up ahead up to around 7th place that I stay on the tail of until I run wide in Arnage and get a 0.5s penalty. Whatever, I'll catch back up to them. Well, the Monkey's Paw curled because I did catch up to them on the Porsche curves and 3 people ran wide... but one person decided to drive back onto the middle of the track and bam, another 1 second penalty. After serving the penalty I was in 13th. An AMG GT3 passed me so I wanted to work with him to build a gap to the people behind and catch the people in front, which worked pretty well, until I bump-drafted him close to the first chicane and he ran wide. I thought he would be able to comepnsate for the extra speed but I guess I was wrong. Either way though, I ended up in clean air and built a 10 second gap to him by race's end. I crossed the line in 9th, only 2 seconds away from 8th who pitted on lap 6, but then got 8th place as someone ahead got a 1 minute penalty for I'm assuming not using Hard tires. I got 121 points in the end, but i know I can do better.

Let's see how this next race goes, I didn't gain back all the SR I lost still, I'm at SR 91...

After a long podium drought, brought my M6 to a 3rd place!

Qualified 2nd, #13 on the door, non stop on hards, and I had to fight for my position for every second of the race. Got passed by an Jaguar and almost regained the second spot through the Porsche Curves!

Happy with it. Getting my ball and heading home :D

Just had the most bizarre race in my FIA career.

Quali was a mess. People were fighting for position on the OUT LAP. I had to look at my username a couple of times because I thought I was on my backup account with how dirty things were. Ended up in traffic, got punted, and qualified 18th out of 19.

Then this happened:

The only annoying thing was the person that punted me was now in first.

The race was mostly uneventful. Passed the Peugeot with ease. I caught up to the person who punted me on the last lap. I REALLY wanted to return the favor but backed out of it at the last second. In the end, really can't complain with how this turned out

3 slots, 2 disconnect, 1 freeze (?) at the "loading track" part... Not really sure if i should blame the servers or there's something wrong with my internet.
I wasn't expecting anything good with the lexus at la sarthe anyway, really annoying though.

At least i got a 4th place yesterday at rbr lol

Edit: i have these problems mostly in the manu race, for some reason
