Well not the return to racing I would have liked, nothing much has changed!

Just done the first Manufacturers slot along with @ASH32 , and after regularly clocking mid 3:17s in clean air in practice lobbies, I'm on a decent lap going through the long right hander near the end, eyes drift to the times coming in (schoolboy error) and I drive off the track to the left! 3:18.1, only good enough for 16th. So as per, I throw all the theory out the window and start on hards.

They weren't as bad as I expected, a few twitches here and there but not the usual blocks of ice that I've become accustomed to, it wasn't too difficult to keep in touch with the group ahead and it wasn't too difficult to keep a GT-R behind. So I thought I'd stay out and no stop, see what happens rather than follow the recently discovered Mr Senna, who in the Toyota 86 put on mediums at the end of the first lap.

I'd been running 16th mainly but regular penalties for the group ahead always kept me in touch or up to 15th for a little while. The fighting really played into the Toyota's hands though as he caught our group, I let him go hoping he'd cause havoc! And although he muscled to the front of the group he never got away. The GT-R that had been behind me finally got past on L6 as I entered the left-right kink with the car unbalanced - I didn't fight too hard, I knew his heart was going to sink at the end of L7 when I didn't pit! One guy pitted at the end of L6 promoting me a place, then a lap later comes the real unfolding of events with everyone else pitting.

I start L8 in 11th, comfortably ahead of 12th and with three cars, including the Toyota in striking distance. The Toyota picks up a 1s penalty, which he's going to serve over the bridge and I thought to myself, "it's been pretty clean with him for once, you watch that penalty drop him right by me..." and it did. I overtook on the bridge but with a Porsche dead ahead of me had to be careful in the braking zone so I fully expected the lunge up the inside that I got. Maybe I should have moved to the inside but at 140mph+ with 200m to the corner and three cars in close proximity on the last lap it would have been a dangerous move!

A twitch through the final left hander ended any chance of improvement and I came home 11th for 156 points.

A couple of things though, the no stopper is ok if you're near the back, the race pace in the pack was about 2s slower than I could do on mediums in clean air, but I would have done better pitting at the end of L1 and would have undoubtedly finished well inside the top 10 (in my opinion). Starting on mediums from that position (16th) would have wasted them, you would spend all the time fighting to get past people while still running nearly 2s a lap slower than is possible. And... SORT OUT MY BLOODY QUALIFYING! Should have started around 10th with a clean lap

I want another go, but I probably won't get one!

Edit: I've just seen they go as late as 2320... I might get another shot - but I'll have had a few!!:cheers:

First Manu slot in the gr4 Mustang. Got held up in qualifying so started p8. Hand a good start and at lap 2 I was slipstreaming a GT-R as p5-4. The BMW in p3 got a track penalty after the bridge so we past him before the final corner, I was now p4. Then the BMW apparently got so anxious that he tried to pass in the corner, I made room for him and he puts me in the wall, while he spun into the pit. I return as p7, he comes out as p8 on hards and later overtakes me for p4. So finished p5.

Edit: I can't decide if the collision change in last update is the best thing since sliced bread or fire. It an unbelievable fantastic great thing for sure!

I knew it was a waste of time trying to drive at St.Croix A, since I've never raced there or even driven there I don't think and so I was predictably very slow, just don't get the track and the Gr.4 Aston does not help things, it feels very slow and rubbish.

If anyone knows a way to get that thing to go let me know, at least then I'd know how to drive quickly, even if I still can't do it.

:gtpflag:

Hullo. That'll be me! Was a hoot and it would've went a bit better had I not picked up 4 seconds worth of penalties trying to avoid the gaggle of cars ahead of me as they tried to head through the first chicane 3 wide.
I've got the replay saved and will pop it up when I'm on later. PSN is the same as here.

I did wonder why on earth you picked that car for this round, just struck me as an odd choice

My Nations Cup race went a lot better than I expected, considering that I was running the S-FR. I qualified 4th, with only 1 X-BOW and 2 Porsches ahead of me.

ydjdKJI.jpg

The race starts, and both X-BOWs behind me try overtaking me into Turn 1. One runs wide, allowing me to cut back. The other takes a tighter line through the hairpin and gets a slower exit as a result, allowing me to pull away.

A few laps later, I make a mistake at the chicane following the high-speed right turn, allowing the latter X-BOW to begin closing the distance to me. Eventually, this yellow X-BOW catches up to me. I held him off for a few laps, but he eventually overtook me by outbraking me into the 2nd hairpin.

Meanwhile, one of the Porsches that started ahead of me began struggling halfway into the race. The yellow X-BOW catches up to and begins fighting with the Porsche while I spectate. The fighting allows me to catch up to them, with the X-BOW winning and pulling away from the floundering Porsche.

I then tried to attack the Porsche with a lunge into the chicane between the 1st and 2nd hairpins, but I am forced to back off when he blocks the apex. One lap later, this happens:

I honestly thought I was going to get a penalty, but fortunately the AI steward ruled in my favour.

I pulled away from the Porsche and cruised to a satisfying 4th place.

As for the Porsche, things went from bad to worse. His pace continued to deteriorate until he pitted at the end of lap 12 for fuel and tyres. The stop drops him to 8th, with the Porsche exiting just ahead of the 9th place Subaru. He fends off the Subaru and keeps his 8th place.

As for the yellow X-BOW, he finished 2nd, after managing to catch up to and beat the other Porsche to the line.

All in all, a really fun and entertaining race!

Compared to the F-150 I qualified 2 seconds faster in the AMG GT S which put me in 13th on the grid. I must say, the understeer in this one is really annoying! 👎

EZ2HUiAXQAM546y.jpg

The mid-field pack was close for quite a long time with a couple of players who either lacked awareness or were downright dirty. A German guy in a Subaru especially caught my eye as I saw him get involved in numerous incidents where he seemed to be unaware of his surroundings. In lap 1 he ran me wide on the long right hander towards the esses whereupon I fell back to 16th. I made my way back to 14th in the next lap and just aimed to keep up with the pack while staying out of any shenanigans for the next couple of laps. In lap 6 when the pack finally began to thin out I was in 12th and following a Spaniard in the S-FR. He was faster and I made a couple of tiny mistakes, so he eventually got away.

After that I was on my own with said German Subaru hunting me down. He put in a number of decent laps and by lap 9 had almost closed the gap, but then - apparently - had a number of mishaps as well upon which the gap grew to more than 2 seconds. Since I as well had managed to improve my speed by this point it stayed like that. By the end of lap 10 the gap had grown to about 3 seconds. As I drove onto the main straight I looked back and saw him get his left rear tyre on the grass beyond the curb, upon which he completely lost control and crashed. Although I felt kinda bad for him I was also quite relieved

After that I was alone with big gaps both in front and behind. I had already settled for 12th as I suddenly spotted a yellow flag as I came up to the big chicance on the penultimate lap. A Porsche was recovering from a crash as I exited the chicane. I had enough speed to go past but he was determined to hold his ground. In the final corner I noticed that he was struggling to keep his rear under control. He clearly had tyrewear issues. As the final lap started he began to pull away again. However, as we went through the downwards left towards the big chicane his back stepped out again. Once to the right, which he caught by countersteering but then the 911s infamous pendulum effect claimed yet another victim as his left rear tyre got onto the dirt. Needless to say that saving that was impossible. I finished in 11th and improved myself by 2 positions 👍

Next up is the 2020 Supra. With its heavy oversteering tendency it should be the diametral opposite to the AMG GT :)

Went again in Manu. Started 8th, finished 8th. Should've been fighting for the win, but for divebombers (my favourite was a Porsche launching it at the chicane after the bridge) and my car randomly ****ing understeering after the long back straight into the fast left/right kink. I honestly don't know whether I'm angrier at myself or the game.

Second Manu try went suprisingly good. Q7 finished 2nd for 110pts. All race was very clean and respectful, one guy even drove off the line after mistake, to not slow me down. Thats sportsmanship! Also got very close hard and clean battle with two german players. Guy who won from the pole was some kind of alien, his QT was better for about 3s from 2nd.... He finished with 16s ahead of me... Probably could do 2 pitstops and win anyway.

I almost put in a 1:47 before the lobby loaded but couldn't reproduce that line in qualifying. So I qualified 18th.

The race itself was awful. The Spaniard behind me sent it up the inside at T1 and gave me a 1 second penalty. That ruined the mood right from the start. The Supra is really nice to drive but you need to be knowing what you're doing. It loves to step out and you need to be ready for it when it does. If it catches you off guard, it's over. The best thing about it is the slight drift when coming out of a corner. If you can handle it you can get on the power much earlier and use the slide to align your car. I'm not that good at it and therefore lost a lot of time at the corner exits. Did a lot of tiny mistakes (and one or two not so tiny ones) and finished 14th while watching the three in front of me fight it out.

Gonna use the F50 in the last one

@RX8 Racer Your screenshots are looking much better. How do you keep the sharpness when inserting them into your posts? Mine look just fine until I upload them

Unlucky @Hasnain282 you should have had a great result there until some bone headed driver cost you. Must suck big time that. :ouch:

Back to my badness, I tried the Merc on my main account, can go about a second quicker in it than the Aston, I still suck at this track, :ouch:

Second try at Manu, done for the night. Qualified as p7, got in a scuff/accident with another driver coming out to the back straight and to avoid putting him in the wall I put my self there.
Back in the saddle as p17, starting the haul back towards the front.
Man did I ever see some dirty drivers along the way. Fortunately coming from behind I saw what players to avoid. Made it to p4 before the pit on last lap, lost two spots to a Porsche and a Ferrari that started on hards.
So p6 and 48 points, highest of my season so far (4th race), and +2k Dr.

I have to say, the Nations race was really fun. Everyone in my room were good drivers so even though I got held up quite a bit in the beginning due to qualifying poorly and getting stuck in the pack, it was really fun racing, we were going into corners 3 wide and all coming out ok.

What a fun, and clean, race that that was! I qualified P5, but dropped a couple of places early on due to small mistakes and good driving by the people behind me. But I managed to stay in it, and almost made a double pass in the final corner for a P5 finish, but only ended up holding onto one of the positions. I’ll take a 6th place finish in top split any day of the week, one and done tonight. :)

Nations went much better, despite qualifying 3s off the pace down in 15th (with absolutely no practice) things started looking up when someone around 10th/11th disconnected right after the parade. I squeaked past a couple of SF-Rs on the opening lap, despite the Hungarian one's best efforts to dive down the inside from half a second back. I eventually edged away and ended up in no man's land in 10th, 8 seconds down on 9th by the start of the final lap, but then a British KTM began bottling it at every chance he got, sliding all over the place and eventually he spun one last time in the final corner to hand me 9th and about 100ish points.

Race 1: Qualified 4th. Much better than I expected. First lap is great. Stayed in 4th, but running down 3rd. I'd have been okay after being demoted to 12th-13th after contact with driver and the wall in the quick left right chicane. But my wheel went to into a strange, I believe because I suffered contact on all 4 corners of the car. But I don't know. It started making weird clicking noises and I had to turn it off and again, retire from a FIA race.

Holy cow! - The spring in my brake pedal just snapped while practicing for today’s race :( - did a best practice time of 3:17.6 and was pumped up for this track!

These T-GT pedals are a terrible match for the wheels.

In the “garage” trying to fix it before the race! Hopefully it’s fixable!

Good luck to all racing today!

Manufacturer's went better than expected! I think I'm also going back to doing only one or the other of the FIA races on Saturdays. I don't have time to practice for two races on the same day and I don't like the flip-flopping back and forth in my head when the races alternate. PD really needs to think of a different format for the weekend races.

Anyway, I didn't go in with high expectations as I've hardly ever done this track and like @Mistah_MCA said in his race guide, it has a weird flow. (Also, big shout out to MCA for his YT videos. He deserves major props for what he does.) My lap time slowly crept down as I practiced but still wasn't getting to where I wanted it to be. But as it turns out, my lap time wasn't the big factor in this race - consistency was. There were a lot of people faster than me that couldn't keep themselves on the track. In fact, there was one guy who I passed when he binned it, who then caught up and passed me, who I then passed again when he binned it another time.

I qualy'd P10, which I was happy with. I actually preferred being a little farther back as I could start on the hards and get them out of the way. (I'm not a fan of pitting right before the last lap.) I did a 1H/7m strat and that in itself probably gained me two places, as most of the field did 2H. For a slipstream heavy race that also had a lot of people binning it, the race was remarkably clean. A lot of close quartered racing made for an exciting time. There definitely were incidents but far less than expected. I did get divebombed by a Lambo on L1 but I saw him in time to get out of his way. I did have someone stick their nose into a corner and make contact but it seems like the physics change with the latest update actually worked as I regained control of my car quickly rather than careening off like I have in the past. There was also the bumpy and pushy Aston Martin on the final lap but he finally got around me without wrecking either of us, so it's all good I guess.

I crossed the line P7 but then a tire penalty cost someone something like 10 places. I seriously can't believe tire penalties are still being given out this late in the season. Do people still really not get it?

Back to GT Sport after a two month break and signed with Lamborghini again. In St. Croix, I started 12th and tried the 4H/4M strategy and finished 11th. My race was pretty uneventful, which is a good thing in a way. I’ll consider this a warm up and go one more time.

Not doing Nations though. N-class doesn’t interest me unless it’s a One-make.

Most cars can go 6-7 laps on the RM with the multiplier, just FYI.

16:00 EDT Nations Cup: Kyoto Driving Park - Yamagiwa II

Well there isn't much to write home about today....

I decided on the SR-F as I felt the most comfortable in it. I tested the AMG GTS, X-Bow, 911, 4C Road Car, and the SF-R. I couldn't handle the X-bow and the 4C was good but not as comfortable as the SF-R. I end up qualifying 11th with 17 on the door. Was pretty uneventful but ended up finishing 8th.

My Nations race went better than expected. Started 6th, finished 6th. Less KTMs than I expected. I finished 2nd among the SFRs.

Love this car.

I see @O604 was in my race! It was good to race with you. I love the livery!

17:20 EDT Manufactuer Series: Circuit de Sainte-Croix - A

As much as I practiced (which wasn't much honestly) I just could not get a feel for the track. I enter with 20 on the door and just about earned it. I qualified 15 and 18-20 did not post a qualifying time. As I never got comfortable on this track I was ok with just following someone. I started on hards and came in on lap 1 to switch to mediums.

There is not much to report. If they were faster, I just let them go. I end up 18th because 1 car quit and the car in 18th on lap 12 came in for tires and couldn't catch me after that.

I did not expect much this weekend but there is no substitute for track time....see you out on the track!
