The Cayman Gr. 4 and I haven't seemed to be getting along much, so I'm not looking forward to Brands Hatch, also because that's a track where the slightest of errors will mean a trip to the Shadow Realm, but the pit strategy part of it seems enticing...

Gonna practice for the Nations race tomorrow, even though I've driven Autopolis maybe 3 times for Circuit Experience and as qualifying for a Daily Race, not sure if I'll do it or not since I don't have experience with the track.

No no no, if we don’t race, what will happen to all of the poor Memes?

Anyone remember the unused Route X files found where it seemed like there were sections of the track with full-360 tunnels you could drive upside-down on and basically have fun with physics? I've always wanted that to be in GT because I wish realistic games would let us go crazy with physics, now imagine the memes if this was added to GT Sport and added to the Championship.

Qualifying was so close although I started 18th...

Charging to the front @ Blue Moon Bay Infield

(sry no sound, mess up the recording and i run out save on GT Sport couldn't grab the replay -_-)

If you shift the Corvette GR3 car earlier you’ll be a bit faster. The torque curve drops off rapidly after the revs clear the gear number on the graph. After that you are just revving the engine without much acceleration. Try some practice laps shifting earlier against your own ghost And see where the sweet spot is for you. For most it’s just before, above or just after the gear number. This also adds some fuel mileage.

25 mins of the R32 on Autopolis and it's gonna be a no from me dawg. I could not, for the life of me, get that thing to rotate in a predictable manner, which meant I was either understeering into the dirt or sliding before the tires grabbed and made things worse. Who'd-a-thunk that slapping racing tires on a car with a ton of power and un-tuned street suspension would lead to bad vehicle dynamics? Good luck to all of y'all who participate! I'll be practicing for Manufacturers and hoping I'll actually be decent in the Cayman; the last good race I had with it was back at St. Croix.

Wow! Haven't been teased that much since Lisa N got a bit handsy after a middle school dance.

I still find it strange that it's faster to shift this car before it even hits peak power according to the power curve.

I was shifting according to the Optimal Upshift chart https://gt-engine.com/cars/gr3/gr3_upshift.html ..well for the the most part except for the last corner were i was focusing on not crashing into the wall haha

Ran a few laps with the Skyline around Autopolis country and see how crazy it would be. It is going to be like GT1 or GT2 where you spent all your cash to upgrade the engine and nothing on the brakes! Like trying to drive the 900HP GTO around Grand Valley while saving tires.:nervous:

Utter carnage. Going to be wild. I almost dont want to qualify for the turn 1 situation.
I'm waiting for the 1 minute countdown now. Whatever side you do qualy on, make sure you're inside at T1. I mean two tyres in the grass inside. I think one tap if you're anywhere else in that corner, is game over. We'll see.

Edit: What in thee....?

What a DR spread. Could be crazy. @CapraKiwi will be a bit grumpy and nervous with the field spread as well. Runaway can be pretty fast too. If you guys clear the field it could be a showdown.

That's it.

I ran 5 laps. My times were in the 1:55 range for all laps but my last. I tried using more brake in the turns to see if that would help with tyre wear.

Edit: I typed next time, they should add the E30. ;)

I slowed too much for the car ahead at T1. It took the inside and I want going to the outside. The car behind had a clear run on the outside of us both.
I got the spot back corners later. And moved up to 4th. At the U-turn, I went too far outside on the marbles. Lost two spots. Pit on Lap 3.
Ran on the RH until I can figure who is pitting first. Tyres were going off for the car ahead of me(time dropped from 9-10 seconds to 7.2 by Lap 7). It pits. I go another lap while the leaders begin to pit.

I switch back on the RM and fall behind the car on RM(it has to pit for RH). I use my early stop to bang out laps. And to my surprise, I finish with FL. One ahead pits. I leapfrog it. The other car ahead has to stop. Lap 10, I go off at T1. Lap 11, the car ahead pits. Comes out 4.7 seconds ahead. The exact time I was behind it before I went off! I would have been ahead on the last lap.

Anyway, fronts are toast and I just run to the finish.

Just got loaded into my lobby. Door 16 with some extremely fast drivers in front. Even worse since I still have Le Mans inflated DR.
Oh boy:scared:
Edit: I had the speed to be midfield, but wrecked on all qualifying laps. Quit 2 after being totally done but still managed to get 1 garbage one done for a DFL start. Dont know how I ran off after braking even earlier than normal. Usual after changing from practice to lobby.

Oh wow. Just wow. Qualifying DFL was just about the highlight of my race.:guilty:
Started on Hards amd was keeping close enough. End of lap 1 heaps of people pit, I go il to p13. Just decided to run 3 laps H and 2x 6M.

Proceed to drive solidly on hards and just slide and wreck everywhere on the mediums. Finish p17 as 1 person quits, then get bumped to p16 due to a tire penalty. Lobby was so overpowered I was 18 seconds behind the car in front, after they wrecked on the last lap.

And the points were still high enough to count for me:lol:

Good luck out there. That car is lethal.

That car certainly was tough to drive. Wasn't sure if it was driving me or I was driving it for most of the race.

Qualified a solid 4th and managed to avoid the standard Turn 1 Lap 1 Dive bomber. Coped a .5 second penalty for track limits after being bumped off track on the inside of turn 3. But managed to open up the gap enough that it didn't matter.

Pitted on lap 6 from 3rd to ditch the Mediums rejoining in 5th, out dragged 4th place on the run up to Turn 3, and then forced an error from the driver in 3rd two laps later, and ran solidly albeit slowly on the Hards to the finish for the final podium place. Crossed 8 seconds ahead of 4th by simply trying to remain as smooth as possible.

Again did well in practise beforehand and underperformed in qually.

Made up a couple of spots in the first couple of laps but then I’m not sure what happened with my braking five laps in!!
Kind of felt like my pedals shifted the goalposts but perhaps I was just tired and wasn’t putting in enough force from that point - struggled to work out what was happening until I noticed I was only getting the braking meter about 2/3s up when I thought I was braking with full force.

Kind of looking forward to this GT-R race at Autopolis. It's fun keeping that turbocharger spinning and full of pressure before you are done braking each turn.

Technical explanation of the turbocharger in the GT-R... you have to keep it stoked.

... if you do, and you hold that throttle pedal down before the apex:

Managed at top-50 FP time so far... probably means not as many people in this race as usual, but it's only 1.6% off the top time, which, in a production car on grippy tires is pretty good compared to my usual gap. Hoping for a successful Nations event later today.

Same happened to me a couple of rounds ago... blew out the G29 pedal and made sure I was pressing it harder for the next couple of races, it seemed ok. I wonder if it was a calibration issue, and resolved itself in later races. It's a bummer but helps to know in hindsight what was feeling weird, and that it wasn't your imagination.

What a DR spread.

You get matched by SR first, then by DR. Most high splits are with SR 90-99. SDD was in the split for people with SR of under 90, that is why there is a huge range.

After this latest update I've seen otherwise clean drivers get their SR tanked from crashes that were not their fault, and have to recover it in dailies. Which is also very risky, but you don't have a choice if you want to enter FIA races in a reasonable split.

Any promise in the Skyline race for a no-stop? I haven't simulated a complete distance...

Wait, so what's going on with the R32 @ Autopolis? Are we still driving it with (roughly) its base power/weight? If we're going to be able to max it out, I'm not actually sure if I'd wanna enter tonight...

It needs to be modded up to N600 I think. Tricked out.

Qualifying went poorly with me failing to set a properly representative lap time so I ended up starting on 18th, not about 5th or 6th which I could have done even without the slipstream.

I started on the Hard tyre and was in 15th by the end of the lap when I pitted for medium tyres. I rejoined in last place and moved my way up the order to 14th. I pitted again on lap 8 for another set of medium tyres for the end of the race and rejoined in 16th.

I made up a few positions on that last stint with people pitting ahead and was in 12th in the last lap. The last lap and at T6 the Italian behind me gave me a nudge if the track leaving me with dirty tyres and dropping 2 places to finish 14th.

Could have been a top 10 if the race went smoother. Also thanks to @Mistah_MCA because if not for his video I would have been completely lost. Also I really need to to better in qualifying, i'm normally better in the race but my qualifying form recently has been appalling.

16:20

Qualifying went ok, nothing great just not bad and ended up starting 12th.

Lap 1 was interesting as the first few corners went smoothly until T6 when the car ahead cut across into me not realising I'm there and goes of the track, then at T11 a car behind out braked themselves and instead of turning away as to not hit anyone go bowling and I get sent from 11th to 19th, great.

I slowly caught up to the back of the pack by lap 2 and up to 12th by lap 7 when I pitted for fresh mediums. I caught up to a pack ahead by lap 9 and managed to get a pass done into 18 and get another as a car ahead pits and successfully defend my place leaving me in 11th. Lap 11 and am now in 10th thanks to others pitting and was slowly being caught by the car ls behind until I again pitted on lap 14 dropping me to 15th. I just held of the car behind on cold tyres who as it turned out from experience earlier wasn't afraid of contact. The car ahead in 13th slowed in the last sector allowing me to catch up and eventually just pip them over the line for 13th.

I'd say this race would have been fun given N300 cars and sports tyres but the added power really meant that mistakes were common and people desperately trying to defend afterwards. Don't think I'll bother with the Sciroccos as I don't like the FF cars (I may well yet though), Brands hatch however looks like good fun and will hopefully reward me with an overdue good result.
