Meh. Actually somehow qualified p6 in a field I thought would smash me. Got a BS track limit penalty on that second left handed right off the start while leaving room to avoid contact with a lambo who wanted it. Dropped to p8 so not too bad. Turn 1 next lap the guy behind slides and just taps my rear as he catches it. I spin, down to p12.:grumpy:

Not too bad after that, lapping ok but guy in a jag catches me and gets past when I get a shade wide and cant accelerate. He then proceeds to defend like a 🤬 for 2 laps until his speed pulls away. The classic swerve 30M before the braking zone back onto the line directly in front of me. I tap him a few times with that, scared of a penalty the whole time.

Last lap a whole pack on front get into it. I manage to skip through while they serve penalties, except for 🤬 who serves wide so all 3 cars block the track. Guess who unghosts as I try to get past and this gets a speed boost and stays ahead. :banghead:

Finished p11, no points, no real hit to SR so ok. He couldn't understand why I was grumpy. Dont know what was going on in his head anyway, we have raced clean in the past and he is out of my reach (after tonight) in the standings for jag.

Oh well. I drove waaaaay better than expected and for the most part had some nice clean racing.

Good luck out there and have some fun racing.:gtpflag:

Hold on tight for turn 1.:scared::D

EDIT: @05XR8 my race was mostly clean. Even the 2 🤬 parts would be an accident and just rough defending.

I'm entering with a, "You want the corner that bad? Go for it." mentality. We'll see if there's a nice replay to watch by the end of it.

Edit: Get hit in my driver's door at the final chicane. 1 second for me. Player apologises post race. 20th to 17th.

This was a chance for mandatory pit window. No tyre change, just a stop and go.

I ran it in the Aston. CRB and mostly just lapping. Front pair were faster than me, everyone else was slower. Started P5, one span off in front of me, I passed one about L6 as his tyres or driver focus went off quicker than mine, rest of the race was pretty much 1s+ gap in front and behind. Finish P3.

I was doing 2:10s behind 19th. When I passed it the first time, I immediately did a 2:08. Then, I get hit in the door Lap 6. Put on the afterburners and passed it and a friendly in a worn GT-R. Serve my penalty Lap 7. Pass them both again(the GT-R went off before the back straight though).

Chased after another two cars ahead and set a 2:08 flat Lap 8. SLS finishes hundredths ahead of me.

Looking forward to today’s combo. Gr.4 at the GP track is a great combo.

I couldn’t run Nations yesterday due to staying on the loading screen for free practice, before and during entry. It was even happening on Monday. Guess PD didn’t want my Focus on track.

Round 29 Nations.

I was insane enough to do this race. It was a tough crowd as I qualified P14. Off the grid to T1 of course it was a mess for most. I managed to survive and got to 11th. As the race went on and hits happened not by me but a few to me, I was fighting for top 10.

And it went to hell. Lap 7, one dude got hit out which I had absolutely nothing to do with. When he recovered, I was behind him and before a turn I tap him light, nothing to throw off his car. Keep in mind that its the only time I had any contact with him.

As the lap when on at the turn before the end of S2, the car that got hit out launched at a car that had nothing to do with the crash and took him out. I went past the murder. As lap 8 started and I was going into T1. The car that murder the other car did the exact thing to me! My entire car was damaged so race over pretty much. I finished P18 because two people quit. It was a disgusting behavior. I don’t know if I smacked his girl or what. Here’s the video. I will post other stuff some other time.

Might have to call it quits on the last two Manufacturers Series rounds. Lost power yesterday and idk when it’ll be back up; I think I even saw a utility pole snapped in half like a matchstick. I’m making this post using cell service, if you were wondering how I could post without WiFi. Still hoping I’m in the top 10 for Hyundai drivers by the time the FIAGTCs end. Heck, even top 15 wouldn’t be bad, considering there are at least 60 others.

You could try running the game off your phone... I've done it all season long just using 100gb hotspot

Well, due to lack of participation, I got dumped into top split for every single race I did last night in Nation's. Also because of the lack of participation, the DR spread was massive (I was only at 47.8k and still had a mid-pack car number in top split), so the points weren't worth much (less than 250 points for every round, and less than 230 for the final round). These points were barely any better than what I would normally see in a 3rd- or 4th-split race that I usually wind up in. This meant I had to finish where I would normally finish in order to improve my points total, which is in or near the Top 5, but almost half of the drivers that made up each race were Top 16 regulars that I had no real chance of beating.

Slot 3:
Started 16th, finished 13th. Race was expectedly chaotic on the opening lap, but nothing really noteworthy happened.

Slot 4:
Started 15th, finished 10th. Same deal.

Slot 5:

Started 8th, in my best opportunity to finally finish well enough to score some meaningful points, then got fired into the wall at Turn 2, Lap 1, with engine damage to top it off. Finished 15th...

I was honestly expecting to be in contention for wins based on my practice pace and previous history with Gr. B cars.

One-and-done for me because I got placed in an extremely high split, 250 pts for the win, which meant I knew I wouldn't get any useful points nor would the next race be in a more evenly-seeded split. And unfortunately, two of my favorite people were in my race: everyone's favorite A-level hothead, driving a red and black Focus, and the angry Canadian whose DR/SR plots look like someone trying to draw a line during a magnitude 10 earthquake, driving a pink RCZ with some rather tasteless decals applied to it. As for the rest of the field though, only around half of the cars are RCZs, surprisingly, with some Focuses (Focii?), STis, and Evos included.

Qualifying went as well as it could, I think. I qualified 15th, and being far back, I decided to start on Hards and go for the one-stop.

Coming into T1, I braked early and was cautious. Since I started on the outside of the track, I got passed on the inside by a few people, but only lost a net of 2 places due to some chaos. Coming into T4 (the second 180 degree turn), I get a mild punt from the rear. I knew it wasn't deliberate since I've raced with the person who hit me many times in the past and I knew it was an accident. I get back on track second-to-last, as someone else also spun. Coming into T8 (the third 180 degree corner before the back-straight), a major ramming incident occurred involving the hothead in the Focus which sees several people off track and several people with penalties. I inherit 17th as someone serves a penalty, and I come up to the back of a forming train ahead.

Coming into T8 on Lap 2, a the hothead in the Focus rams someone off at T5, and the victim has no choice but to rejoin at a bad angle due to how they were punted off, and collects the angry Canadian, who spins out. I was too focused on watching that ahead to realize the person ahead slowed down to avoid the incident, and so I, braking at my regular braking point, take evasive action and luckily only tap the person ahead, but I spin myself out into the gravel. putting me back down into last place.

I play catchup on Lap 3 and gain a place as someone serves a penalty, but coming into T4 on Lap 5 I fall back to last because I have to slow down for an incident: the Escudo-painted RCZ ahead brakes too late and shoves a Lancer, meaning I lose a position to the angry Canadian. The Lancer then goes for a deliberate ram on the Escudo RCZ into T8. The Lancer recovers and the angry Canadian puts a wheel on the grass and oversteers into the Lancer, who in this case was just driving in straight line. But, the angry Canadian then slams the side of the Lancer, but the Lancer had enough speed and pulls ahead and then pits, putting me back up into 15th, as someone ahead also rage quits.

Not much happens as I maintain the gap to 12th ahead until Lap 11, where the Focus hothead comes out of the pits. I try to defend on my worn Hards but get on the throttle too early coming out of T4, compromising my entry into T5, which lets them pass. Not that I minded since I just wanted to avoid them as much as possible.

The hothead in the Focus then brakes late and punts the angry Canadian that was ahead of me, putting me side-by-side with the angry Canadian. I try to move up the inside on T8 and they slide into me, giving them a 1s penalty. I was bracing myself for some form of retaliation, but they pit, and I stay 13th until I pit at the end of Lap 14, which I decide to do after making a big error.

I come out in 17th, right behind the angry Canadian as before. I go for a move on the inside of the rammer Lancer into T8 at the end of Lap 16 and get the pass done as they serve a penalty and then pit again. I spend the next 7 laps in 14th, getting close to, but not enough, to pass the angry Canadian, until they pit at the end of Lap 23.

I then cruise on home to finish in 13th. Somehow, I miraculously didn't get a penalty, but boy oh boy did this race bring down the red mist on some people who were already quick to anger. I finished in 13th in a lobby at least 2 splits higher than where I should be, so while the points are meaningless to my total, I'll still take it.

I was in this race as well and yeah there were some hot heads. At the start (I'm the Blue and White Focus in top 10) I had a good start and when it was clear immediately covered the inside. This one guy in the RCZ was adamant to pass me, even if it meant going on the grass into T1 (which he did), and that sparked a ton of chaos into T1. He got 4 seconds worth of penalties though so he was gone.

What amuses me in sims (this happens a lot in iracing too) is that people don't look ahead past the car in front of them. If there's something going on a couple of cars up the road it's going to bottleneck other cars. Rather than being smart and backing up early people just speed into the chaos and just HULK SMASH. I know it's a game but like would you do this in real life? Better yet, if you see a fire in the distance would you run towards it guns blazing or would you take caution? :boggled:

As for the penalties I had a handful of friends that had the "Next contact and you'll be disqualified" message. If you're shoving 20 (rally) cars that don't turn very well in a very tight track what do you honestly expect PD. There is going to be some sort of contact whether it's side by side or maybe a tap from someone checking up (which I got a penalty for seeing cars check up in front, I did the same but I got rear ended into others). Not sure if there will be a FIA season after this but they really need to revisit this again

I'm afraid it's gotten to the point you look at someones paint you get a penalty, if you cough and droplets fall on the other car it's a penalty

A little late but Nations was pretty fun and similar to a Wreckfest-lite race. I had low expectations, laughed off the chaos and treated it like a @Pigems lobby. I think that helped forget about the frustrating moments.

I chose what turned out to be the 'wrong' car with the Toyota 86 that I used at Brands Hatch before since 19/20 were in an RCZ. I naturally expected chaos during L1 and it didn't fail to deliver. I started P16 and got swiped off T1, once back on the track and now last place, I had a dumb moment by plowing into the back of someone before T7 and he got the penalty.

I waited for him and after the race finally settled down by around L3 - 4, I gained places by watching revenge punters, one who drove into the wrong pit entry (lol) and several sliding off corners. I didn't make one actual overtake. I went 11 laps on Ms and the rest on hards. Finished 11th.

Nations race wasn't good for me. I didn't think I was doing too badly in qualifying, but I guess I was because I ended up qualifying 18th. My thought was, "Oh well, somebody has to start 18th!". The race didn't go much better. I got as high as 12th at one point, but I finished.....18th - Oh well, somebody has to finish 18th !

I was in the mix for most of the race and got bumped around a bit, but nothing blatant. There just isn't much room on this track, and I never got comfortable with this car on this track. I've got no complaints, I was just too slow.

I decided to go over to Monza after this race and that was a lot more fun :).

It works, I use it 4-6 months out of the year, non-Covid.

Hopefully you get power soon, usually takes a bit longer for the cable to be fixed, unless it’s underground. But doubtful since power is on a pole.

I can't get internet where I'm at so this will have to do. Held off years on getting a ps4 & GT Sport because I didn't realize I could do this off my phone. Glad I finally gave it a try!

Ah, yeah, I don't know what's wrong with that person, I had them in my race at Suzuka in the Sciroccos. I went up their inside and they turned-in on me, and then in the post-race chat they started cussing at me, accusing me of punting them to pass and being dirty. Shame to see they still have no self-awareness.

Very funny.

I can also attest to using a hotspot (one of those dedicated 3G/4G hotspots, not a phone one), although this was playing GT5 online, not GT Sport. But it worked perfectly fine though, the only "bad" thing that happened was once I was in a really good lobby and having really good races, and then the hotspot's battery died.

Good to see another GTPlanet member! Too bad it was in that mess of a race. And yeah, I watched the replay and saw that incident at T1, I tend to always lose some places at the beginning of these grid start races because I back off into the first few turns and stay cautious, but it also means I don't punt anyone (instead I'm the one who gets punted by the people going in all gung-ho... :grumpy:). But yeah, the penalties are why I was especially cautious for that race since like you said, if you so much as look at someone's car it may hand you a penalty. Or it may not, because the penalty system is like a random number generator at this point.

Don’t get me started on that clown. Real shame as he can post fast times, but his ability to race is just humiliating.

@Adam Barber, what are you running for BB for the 458 Gr. 4?

This.
From what little I’ve seen of iracing I’ve no interest in emptying my wallet for it that’s for sure! People in online racing are what they are. Full spectrum.
That said I didn’t even consider this ridiculous combo. Waaaay too much car they should have chosen karts.

Either 0 or -1 usually. The 458 is ultra stable in group 4 form so doesn't really need any.

Stable, but a bit understeery. I have it at 2 to the rear. And worked pretty well in helping the car at Suzuka and the last few GR 4 races, but at the Ring, the first section is costing me some time from that understeer.

Though, still pretty solid times. I have a good feeling about today.

Interesting bout the gr4 458. I’ve been running 0 bb I tried rearward bias but it loses stopping power. I noticed I need to come all the way off the brake sooner on entry also a little squeal at first but it turns well when tires are quiet. I do induce understeer in it pretty easy because of excess trailing brakes on entry when you wind in some steering...
I was def surprised by its stability. What I wanna know is McLaren gr4 what’s the magic shift point? I’ve seen people get a lot of straight line speed in it...Anyone willing to share?

About 65-75% I think, tempted by McLaren for the next season, may stick with Ferrari though.

Definitely have to shift at only 2/3 rev bar. Otherwise it just bogs down.
