Some races can be frustating and hostile, especially in dailys
But there are plenty of real racers still in the game, and everytime you encounter those and have a great experience it might just make up for the bad experiences you had.

I'll be back in.manu on Saturday. Hopefully it will be better than the one make race where everyone tries to overdrive to get an advantage.
A growing part of my GTS fix is satisfied in lobbies,where you can trust your fellow racers and because of that can race harder and closer.

RS and RM only. I'm guessing the alt accounts will come out and a sleeper WRX will be choice.

Other than that, maybe the 650S, 458 and Slophy have a shot.

I'm right there. Set a 1:58.049 after 6 laps. Decided to follow P3, after following P10. Losing time at the downhill left, at middle of the lap.

Don't think I can keep up such a pace with the DS4. 18laps will be:

I really didn't anticipate this race being an SR sucker... but somehow it was. I guess the standing start, the high contact rate with multiple tire strategies mixing things up, and all being in similar cars, making overtaking hard conspired to make it so. But it was surprising and a bummer.

I ended up at 82, from my usual 99, due to 3 SR down and a couple of 0.5 sec penalties that I really am not sure I understand (not track limits). But it not only dinged my SR (no big deal other than posterity and the nuisance of having to 'restore' it before the next FIA race, which is always a risk) but it compromised my race because I was stuck behind some other clowns on my softs stint, and didn't want to risk further damage. Totally ruined my race.

Oh, and looking at the race on the 'other' site... seeing that I was the only one who got a significant SR down for the race... insanely unfair. I initiated contact not once, and my race was ruined my clowns at the start who barged through La Source, then was crowded off the track by one of the same guys, but no one else had more than -5 SR for the event. The guy who finished 11th was causing havoc all race and punted one or two others, I think, in front of me, as well as what he did to me. Completely unfair the way the system is working.

This entire race was just trying to race clean and avoid the chaos to try and get a place or two. Instead I ended up with 6.5s of total penalties and finished the race 29 SR down. The system as it stands right now is the worst I've ever seen.

Anyone who's raced with me knows I'm a clean and respectful driver. My kudosprime record shows that. The fact that such a horrific amount of penalties could be dished out is atrocious.

What a disastrous night, slot 1 #2 on the door and feeling confident enough with both track and car. Had qualy messed up by a crazy person on au rouge and the night carried on in that vain. Started P14 but made up some places after the expected T1 madness. Had a regular (not GTP) push me out wide on lap 2 and that was that, head well and truly gone and while playing catch up kissed a number of asses over the remaining 10 laps, that knocked my SR down to 63. No matter how slight the contact, that down SR arrow kept popping up tormenting my regular cleanliness.

After that I jumped into daily race A to try and claw back enough to put me in a decent lobby for slot 2. 63 SR clean race bonus to 68SR. B to A. Better than a boot in the balls so off to slot 2. WHY OH WHY OH WHY....How could I have been so stupid. I'll post the video tomorrow....

I was in with @afc5150 and @Rexracer702 for the first slot last night and only managed one good flying lap (16.7). Fortunately, it put me on the pole. After a bit of a rough first lap on cold tires, P2 (don’t think he is in here, but it’s always a clean race with him) and I were within a half second of each other for the first 4 laps. We both pitted. My plan initially had been a 3 stop, but since he stayed so close I got nervous. I put on mediums just in case. I figured I could run the second soft stint later if I needed/wanted to.

Sure enough, he was 3 stopping. He put on softs, and I did the best I could to cleanly hold him up for the out lap. I let him by at the end of it, and just wanted to run clean laps so he didn't pull away too much. Fortunately, we were up by quite a bit over P3 by this point. At his next pit stop, he was up about 4 seconds. I stayed out for an additional lap on the mediums and figured I could maintain the gaps necessary to finish first. Switched to hards, and he was 3 seconds ahead of me on his mediums. He pulled away to about 6.5 seconds before his last lap stop. I came out 1.5 seconds ahead and that was that.

The chat after was pretty salty. It sounded like things weren't great in the pack, and we finished almost 20 seconds up so I think there were probably a decent amount of shenanigans.

The early slots seem to be less points than the later slots with the way participation falls. I wish I didn't have to wake up at 515 for work. I think I could've snagged a few more points in the next slot, but if I finish a race up at 10, I won't be able to fall asleep until like midnight. Oh well.

My race was a miserable affair. I couldn't ever really get to grips with the car and was probably .5 to .75s a lap off where I needed to be for the level I race at. I qualify 18th and have very low expectations.

End up last after the first turn but opted for mediums so knew everyone around me would pit at the end of the lap (they did) and I move up to 11th and some clean air. Decide to just roll with a 1 stop and see what happened. Penalties are flying all over the place so thought it could work.

Lap 2 I pick up my first of 2 penalties. This one was one of those silly "nobody was disadvantaged" penalties so was irritating, but watching the replay it was completely avoidable on my part so it is what it is.



After that my strategy is going fine until I pick up another penalty. This time a car has gone very (very) wide after Stavelot. As they rejoin I judge that their dirty tyres will make them understeer so blip my throttle and throw it up the inside. I make the pass with 2 wheels in the dirt but contact free. I've lost a bit of speed and the car behind runs into me (twice) giving me a penalty. They then got one for contact with me again in the chicane.



After that I'm thrown into the back of pack battle. Last lap I get shoved off the track at the top of the hill and finish 18th. The biggest surprise was that I lost SR. It was only 1 point but was still a big surprise. Only 2 people got through the race penalty free and it didn't seem like a dirty race whatsoever.

Not my combo but was still unhappy with the outcome. Didn't feel like racing again so left it as it was.

Nice win @roamingbard13 ! My race was destroyed on lap 2 at the bus stop by a salty Canadian who didn't appreciate being passed when he made a mistake at Stavelot. After failing to pit maneuver me at Blanchimont, a no brake punt into the Bus Stop put me dead last. At least I recovered to finish P11, where I started. He quit before I even got back on track. Looking at his KP, he's like a yo-yo, with frequent resets that allow him to farm wins.

We'll see. I have yet to do a practice race, I'm just going by my experience of the TT shredding through tires and the race being mostly on RS. The pace always seems good in this car but you always seem to have to take an extra pit for tires or risk driving on ice at the end of stints.

So, slot 2. Not much to talk about - other than the fact that I forgot to change tires after qualy and started from P14 on softs. Oh, yeah. I also came to the realization that I hate RMs.

With my newfound realization regarding RM tires, I went on to slot 3. I got a decently slow lobby after losing some DR to a P16 and P14 finish. Still didn't manage to qualify well with a P10 but I decided to see if a 3 stopper could push me through the pack.

It worked. I ran 3M/1H/4S/4S and went around a lot of people after I started my soft stints. Seriously, the time I gained from an extra soft stint and fewer laps on the mediums made up for the extra pit. The timing of the pits also gave me a good amount of clean air to run through. Still not a huge fan of this combo but I'll take the P5 and enjoy the rest of the evening.

You had a good night! I ran in slot one and I typically will go "one and done". If i do poorly in slot one(which I did) and I also do poorly in slot 2, then i'm extra salty. Couldnt pull together a qualy lap without penalties to save my life, and for the first time in FIA I started dead last. A BUNCH of foolishness in turn one and the driver that was in P7, ended up either 8 or 9 seconds behind me, and he finished last. I finished 15th. I gotta hand it to the players that this happens to who finish the race without rage quitting. That's sportsmanship.

I have won in the TT in an earlier Alsace FIA race. Qualified well, pitted a lap earlier than the others, got clean air therefore no close fighting so I could save tyre wear. Only did one stop instead of two like most of the others, and although I was being hunted down by a Jag, still crossed the line first.

FF cars will do well here. I tested the Peugeot and my best lap just now was 1.58.5..
Usually i was about 4 seconds slower then the top ten when driving the Megane Trophy, now only 2.
think I will have to do a two stopper though and I can do just over twelve laps on 1 tank..... so strategy something like 6S/6M/6S

Dang. I'm .3 up on P6, until we get to Seaside hairpin. I lose time there and up the ess Hill, before heading to The Four Brothers.

Into the final corner, I again lose time inbetween, as P6 taps the brakes to straighten the car, for a better exit. I'm killing that player from T1-Seaside hairpin. Could be up in P5.

I'm kind of wondering how the Mitsubishi will do at Alsace. As slow as it felt at Monza, I think it could be a dark horse here on a race that has more depth than straight-line speed. The fuel efficiency is so good that I can go full race distance without refuelling if I upshift at 75% RPM or thereabouts and do a little coasting in the downhill sections. Worst case scenario is spending too much and having to put a tiny bit of fuel in, but that's far better than what I suspect many other manufacturers will need to do. Definitely doing a 2-stop though, I've tried 10M/8S and the tyres were absolutely dead.

My best in free practice is a 1:58.9 so I think I've got the track down pretty well (first time racing here!), but when doing race condition practice I'm not really seeing any noticeable difference between my lap times when upshifting at 75% or when approaching the limiter. When starting on Mediums, my lap times in laps 2-6 are in the 2:03-2:04 range whilst loaded down with fuel.

Quite looking forward to this. Will be holding my breath for the pit stops to see how much fuel everyone else has.

EDIT: Following some full length race testing, do not attempt to go full length distance in the Mitsubishi without refuelling. The lap times don't look that much worse but it adds up!

That’s the exact strategy I shall be doing In the Pug after a couple of practice races. Tried a one stop and I gave up before the end the tires were so bad haha!

I don't think that's horribly slow for you current DR, although it probably will be a FF-fest.

True. I saw that when I looked up your K-stats. I'm sure you're used to running away from a low-B lobby but if you're just looking for a fun race, your time should be competitive. If it's any indicator, I'm recovering from a bit of a beatdown myself and am currently just above 12k. (I feel like my more "natural" DR level is around 15k.) My current lap time is in the mid 59s in the TT.

In case it helps at all, I found my Alsace lap times significantly decreased once I stopped trying to carry speed into the turns. Braking later and harder, rotating the car at slow speed and then taking very late apexes gave me much better runs through the flat-out sections that follow them.

I was doing 2:00-2:01 in free practice until I started doing that, and then I started rapidly chopping it down to 1:59s and eventually a 1:58.9 once I got used to it.

I don't know how well that'll translate from the Mitsubishi to the McLaren, but if you're not currently doing that maybe it's worth a try?

I know from last time at Alsace in the Gr4 cars it was important for the FR cars to take those 90degree turns as sharp as possible. Spend as little time turning and as much time on the gas as you can, no feathering the throttle in there. I was close to keeping with the FF cars in my lobby at the time with that as the time gained by the later brake and faster turn helped limit the damage down the straights. Also trying to figure out how to get those long sweepers. FR should be able to make ground there and hopefully stay around long enough to take advantage of the tire wear.

That chicane is a pain though. Lots of trouble when one person doesnt brake there, punts 3 people, they all get penalties and damage while the punter drives away for their best finish all season.

Personally I really like Alsace, so probably going to have a terrible race there, but going to go full out for it anyway.

That might be what I'm missing in my laps, since I'm stuck just over the 2 minute mark too.

It's a bit counterintuitive because the corners all look like sweeping, trail-brake oriented corners on entry.

1RM, 2 stops on the RS, a spin and finished where I started. The spin cost me the position of the Atenza, but I'm fine with my performance. Thought it'd be worse.

Didn’t enjoy that race at all. Knew the Evo isn’t the fastest but was confident I’d get a decent result.

Qualified 12th and started on Mediums. Got punted off by the ‘ysoserious’ car behind me trying a ridiculous move at the hairpin. Luckily didn’t lose too many positions but then on the next lap, as I was passing a GTR after he made a mistake, he decided he didn’t like losing the place so just side swiped me off the track That was my fuel saving out the window as i tried to catch back up. Picked up a 2 second penalty for tapping someone who had clipped the wall going through the final esses too. Disappointing. Ran 5M/6S/7S. No FFs in the race.

Well that was sort of blah for me. I qualified p13, over a second slower than my practice lap when I was working on short shifting for fuel so was ready to move up. Especially since I had 2known Karens behind. 2 people run off lap 1 so all moving well, until I manage to brake away early for the right hairpin before the run up the hill. Was still way too late. Booted a guy and got a sec. Waiting for them dropped us back, then with my penalty I was down to p18.

Drove back up a bit, but seemed to spend time stuck behind people as I couldn't get the run on the right places. Everyone knew how to defend so there was no real way around. Managed to get up to p14 at the end and it was ok, but I was definitely faster on race pace than that. Oh well. It was better than last time when I got punted so I guess it's a better whatever.

Good luck to you all, the FFs are quite fast there but not invincible. 👍

@SmellMyCheese that Serious is a known hot head who likes to take crazy passes. Had a few run ins with them last year. Unfortunately they happily destroy races claiming revenge, admit it, and PD does nothing. Steer clear if you can.
