@SmellMyCheese that Serious is a known hot head who likes to take crazy passes. Had a few run ins with them last year. Unfortunately they happily destroy races claiming revenge, admit it, and PD does nothing. Steer clear if you can.
Hmmm, I could see he had a couple more penalties up ahead during the race which I can only assume from hitting other people too. One to keep an eye on in future races!

Tough race tonight for anyone not in FF cars. I was 2 seconds off pole in Atenza in top split and started 19th. There was a guy who was normally a lot slower than me, comfortably finished in the top 10, just because he drove a TT. Nik Makozi didn't even turn up due to how futile this race is

Strategy wise, 3 stops are preferred for FFs. FR and MR cars mostly 2 stopped. One guy with an Alfa did a 1 stop, and he almost made it work but he spun on the last lap. From last season we also had a similar race here with Gr.4 cars, and I tried 1 stopping with my Subaru there - needless to say it didn't go well  This time I decided to just send it and do a 3 stopper. Normally you'd start with Mediums first at the back but the Slowtenza really needed to slipstream to keep up, so I went 5S/5S/5S/3M. In hindsight, I should've done the Medium stint as the second or third one. Wasted too much time battling in the pack and finished 14th (3 people quit so effectively it's 17th). Oh well, I just treat it as a learning/experimental race. At least Fuji next *should* suit the RXV.

It's a shame tho because participation rates seemed to have tanked again after the first 2 races. Top split Nations I can still be thereabouts, but top split Manu is just so...demoralising

@05XR8 did you reset your savegame again? You love Lexus way too much dude :p Shame as the battle for Mazda's top 5 drivers are shaping up to be quite interesting...

I thought I'd be in a lower split than normal since my SR was at 84 after Spa midweek. Didn't seem like it, the grid was a bunch of low-end DR A drivers I recognise and I think three Bs. I qualified 14th, 2.4 seconds off the Audis up front.

I went 6S/6M/6S. Lost about 3 seconds on lap 4 coming out of the big right hander at the end of sector two where I just drifted off and drifted wide. After my second stop I was in 14th with a train in front of me. Two of them pitted next lap, I was in 12th following a Scirocco and an Aston. Made it past the Scirocco on lap 15, only for another Scirocco who had pitted later than me to come back through. (I was fighting him because I didn't realise - whoops)

Lap 16 I went past a Porsche to take 11th. I got a lot of joy all race out of turn... 6, the right hander before the long left with a crest on the entry. Braking earlier there and setting yourself up better for the exit did me a lot of good. Ahead of me the Scirocco caught and passed the Aston at the end of lap 17. I stuck in and went for it out of turn 6, somehow carried more speed through the left hander, and held the place. Kept it as wide as possible to the end of the lap to finish 10th. I'm absolutely thrilled by that tbh, I expected nothing and got a great race and a decent result.

Big shout out too to @Famine who accepted the friend request I sent him about four months ago while I was in the middle of a corner.

Delighted with the result and possibly my highest points so far! :)

Qualified 4th and was sitting on pole for nearly the whole qualifying window until about 20 seconds to go! Closest I’ve been to pole in years

Had made it up to 2nd by the end of lap 1 but couldn’t keep the McLaren behind me (which looks like a strong car here), so settled into 3rd. Pretty much stayed like the that for the rest of the race. Broke away from the pack behind and was on my own for ages. Went with 6S/6M/6S.

BONUS: during qualifying I was behind a Porsche for my first flying lap. No problem I figure, he'll be faster than me and drive away, no need for a big gap. I catch him, bump him during turn 7, he gets a penalty and then rams me off the next corner. I get called a FULL-IDIOT in the chat after. He had some words for a Spaniard post-race too as he finished 18th. As far as I can tell it was a clumsy bit of concertina-ing that caused this, with the Spaniard being the last man in (and getting a bigger penalty for it). Seems they had a coming together on the next lap too, but it looks like a racing incident to me. Oh there was another one next lap. I'm not watching the rest of the replay, what started out as mocking is just getting depressing.

Anyway, here's the guy's stats: https://www.kudosprime.com/gts/stats.php?profile=1319327

I'll let you be the judge of why someone capable of 70k DR is jobbing about behind me.

Manufacturer Series Round 4
That was a tough one, and maybe my optimism about the Mitsubishi was misplaced. Just another case of FF domination, and I didn't think they were going to be quite that strong. Still, a very enjoyable hard-fought race. One and done.

I qualified in P12 with a 2:01.012. I think I now know why my qualifying times never come close to free practice even though the fuel consumption is turned off - it's still in the car! I thought them turning that off for qualifying meant it was effectively free practice but with tyre wear.

I started on Mediums in a sea of Lamborghinis, and was fighting with the Lambo behind for the entire first stint. Success though, because I held him off whilst he was on Softs!

I spent the last stint trying to hold off a BMW. The delta was going back and forth until I made a couple of mistakes that allowed him to close right up, making for a very intense race. Getting around some of the turns whilst pushing that hard was so difficult as my fronts were getting absolutely shredded, but I managed to stay ahead for P8 and 121 points.

No more driving today, I think I'm going to go play some Civilization 6 to relax. :D Have a good one everyone.

Well, think i got the most ******** penalty ever!!!!🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

door 3, qualified 4th, behind two Audis and a Ferrari. Bit dissapointed as I only did two laps and made small mistakes in both....

The 4 of us pulled away after the start and quickly got a solid lead over the rest, A
fter a few laps the Ferrari in the lead, the two TT's and me behind in 4t, all close to eachother.
I stayed close to the top 3 and concentrated on steady laps, tyre and fuel management. And with succes as tyres stayed in fine condition in all stints and I was about 3 liters more economical with fuel then in practice. First pitstop after six laps and switch to Mediums. Think i could have easily managed a lap more on the softs though......

By lap 10 I was leading the race as the others had pitted for a second time and in lap 12 I switch from mediums to softs. I come out just in front of the Ferrari but only for 1 corner as my tyres are still cold and he goes past me. I stay behind him with ease though and the TT's are just behind. leading is an Aston but it still has to pit. The Ferrari overtakes hime and i follow. I am on the outside of the Aston in corner keeping welll clear of him and suddenly a 1 second penalty for a collision????

I was not even close!!!! after serving the penalty the TT's go past me and have to settle for 4th place.
Really enjoyed the battle with the Ferrari and the TT's as they were fast but raced as gentlemen and think they were just a bit better then me in the end:bowdown:.

But that penalty!!!!:banghead:

below a screenshot showing the exact moment i was closest to him during the entire overtake. Not even close to touching him and never got any closer then this. In the replay i could clearly see there was no contact whatsoever!!! So why do I get a penalty?

happy with the points and the race though, but what could have been.....

My guess is lag.

What you see on your screen is your console's projection of where the other cars will be - until it gets information from the server saying otherwise. Basically, your local machine predicts future positions based on the previous input trajectory data. If somebody does something unexpected in the space of a tenth of second or two and latency is high, what you see isn't actually where the other player was on the track.

It's quite possible that given the real input data contact was made, the server saw it and assessed a penalty. The other car's actual position never made it to your console to be displayed properly to you.

Fair to say I went into this Manufacturers race with no expectations what so ever except to be in the bottom half of the field in my Ferrari

Entered first slot alongside @Hasnain282 , @T_revisio and @ivann who has swapped his Beamer for an Audi and ended his Gr.4 boycott!

Qualifying wasn't as quick as I'd hoped and I started 17th, if I'd reproduced the searing pace I'd shown in warm ups then I would have been at the dizzy heights of 13th!

Went into the race with a plan to run 2M/8S/8S, filling up on my first stop and not refuelling again. And basically I drove my 18 laps without much going on! Jumped a couple when they pitted, passed an NSX that was heavily fuel saving on the final lap and came home 12th, over half a minute off the triumphant Trevisio. It was an uneventful race and I'm glad it's done!

Alsace was pretty dirty, sideswiped off the track twice and one time into the wall and I got the 1.5s barrier penalty which put me out of contention for a podium spot having started 4th.

I had some close respectful side-by-side racing between. My pit strategy was 5S/6S/7M but I'm thinking a 3-stop was probably quicker given RCZ tyre wear is kind of meh. Finished 8th/146p.

I'm contemplating on whether I'd go again, I felt I could had done better but I may stick with my result, these races can be a dice roll with the people you're racing with.

Well, I have offcourse experienced lag before... But thanks so much for explaining the theory behind this, I understand it much better now!

I think that you might be right about it, it is the best possible explanation. Both cars were driving pretty smooth in the replay though....

In the end i guess you just have to accept getting the penalty. I thought about it and came to the conclusion that i have done two races and in both ******** penalties costed me positions. On the other hand i have enjoyed both races so much as was mever a victim of idiotic behaviour, divebombing etc and that might just be because of the very strict penalty system.
In the end i rather loose a position whie racing gentlemen then win a position racing idiots.💡

Thanks again for explaining to me!!!!

Not my favourite race in the world, I have to say.

Couldn't get a decent qualification lap in so I was starting 10th (door number 17), 1.5 seconds off my free practice time. There was a massive gap from pole to P2 as well, P1 managed a 1.59.99x and P2 was a 2.01.xxx. Not sure if he had been reset or something considering how fast he was relative to the rest of us.

Race got off to a terrible start with P9 suffering insane amounts of lag, he had 1 red bar for the whole race and during the auto-drive at race start he lagged to a stop in the second half of the chicane which halted all of us behind him because the game tried to hold us all at a 35 meter gap behind him. So P8 and up were well past the finish line when the game gave me control of the car. Awesome, right?

He was lagging so bad the entire time that it screwed me up for the first lap, ending up with me spinning while climbing over the final hill before the downhill into the chicane so I dropped back a bunch of places. Clawed my way back up to a 10th place after that (ended up at 15th or 16th, can't remember) when I was shunted into the wall on the penalty zone straight when four of us were in a pack racing flat out. The first car ghosted, so the second car braked for some reason, and the third car reacted by jerking to the left and into me as the fourth car turning me into a pinball. Easily another 10 seconds lost, and no hope of a top-10 finish. I'm just happy I didn't get a penalty for it, so at least I got a CRB :P

I'm not bothering with the rest of the slots today, even if I could improve my results I'm not in love with this track and it's not great for a muscly FR car in the FF frenzy. And I'm sitting out Fuji next week as well because I can't stand it and I don't think racing on it will be any fun.

I've done way too many practice races the last couple days trying to find the optimal strategy in the TT and I'm still somewhat torn between 6S/6S/6M and 6S/6S/5S/1M. In a custom race with lots of clean air, they were pretty close to the same overall time for me. I'm guessing with traffic that might change, though.

Right now, I'm thinking if I can start from the front and jump away from the pack, I'll 3 stop with the long soft stints. But if I'm battling with someone I'm not convinced the extra stop will be helpful, especially if you can manage the tire wear.

Qualifying was a total disaster, as I bungled my first two flying laps and set a disappointing 2:02 for 15th on my last attempt when my best lap in free practice was a mid 2:00. I started on Mediums to get them out of the way.

Strategy: 6M-6S-6S

The race was mainly comprised of me getting stuck behind traffic, only gaining places when others made mistakes. There was a yellow Lexus in particular that managed to exit the pits ahead of me twice despite my attemps at a undercut, and eventually pulled away both times, to my frustration.

SKbwd0d.jpg

The majority of the race was unremarkable, only for everything to kick off in the final sector:

A Toyota (Vortex_Oki10Sai) had the inside line through the banked right, with an Aston (kaz-sagitario) on the outside. As they exit the bank on the left side of the track and enter the left kink onto the short straight, the Toyota cuts across the Aston, only to spin himself off and hand the Aston a 3 second penalty.

Smelling blood in the water, the Porsche ahead (icg51379) and I rapidly close the distance to the Aston. With the Aston well within range, I expected to take a nice 10th with CRB.

The Porsche had other ideas, deciding to divebomb the Aston (who still had that +3s penalty) into the final chicane, only to crash into the inside barrier.

cbza4pb.jpg

I was beginning to turn in when the Porsche crashed, leaving me with no chance to react to the stricken Porsche running wide. We collide, and I take an unfair 1 second penalty for his mistake, locking me into 10th.

I can respect someone wanting to beat other drivers on the road, but I was not amused with the Porsche's completely pointless divebomb, making my displeasure abundantly clear in the post-race chat. He offered a mere "I'm sorry" in response. I begrudgingly accepted his apology, not happy about the Porsche getting away with his mistake.

I'm also noticing a trend in my results for the past couple of weeks:

Nations Gr.2 RBR: 10th
Manufacturers Tsukuba: 10th
Nations Viper Spa: 10th
Manufacturers Alsace: 10th

I'm not complaining about consistently finishing inside the top 10, but I would like to get better results next week.

Manufacturer’s Race Round 4:

First race in the D/S lobby. My Toyota 86 and I qualified 16th on RM which was a mistake. I should have qualified and started on RS, would have had better results.

No orange arrows, penalties, and plenty of green ones during the race, my strategy was 5M/5S/5S/3S, worked out good. Overall I really enjoyed racing this course with the Toyota today.

Racing craft for a few was questionable, I was stuck behind a Spaniard for a few laps. Every time I got close to him the side-to-side swerving began but eventually got past when he missed his braking point on T4 and saw some green grass and a wall.

Points tally for the race: Lost 0 DR points and gained 2 points for Toyota. SR started the night at 86 and ended at 99.

I enjoyed the online racing today, I hoped you all did too.

Enjoy your racing!

Just did the 8pm slot. Door number 12, I started 11th after a poor qualifying session. I started on the mediums and made a steady start, and by lap 3 I’m up to 8th thanks to a couple of penalties. 9th overtook me and we had a good battle for a few laps before I spun due to putting a rear wheel on the grass on the exit near the end of lap 4. Fortunately I ended up facing the right way and I ‘only’ lost about 5-6 seconds.

I pit at the end of lap 5 as my mediums were shredded after the spin. I changed for softs and had a splash of fuel. I came out in 15th and by the time of my next stop at the end of lap 12 I had made it up to 4th. I changed for another set of softs and another tiny splash of fuel and came back out in 6th. On to lap 14 and I’d chased down 5th and they kindly spun out to give me the position. By lap 16 I’d caught up with 4th who started on pole. We had a good battle with the car behind also joining in. They eventually spun on lap 17 and I held off a fight from the Jaguar behind to finish 4th. A pretty good result all in, another 1000 DR points and a very clean and enjoyable race.

Hmm, that sucks. Watched my replay and found if I didn't spin, I would have finished 5th. Maybe 4th. I was ahead of the 86. It was short shifting and I caught the grass on the right, heading up the hill towards the completion of the lap. Killed my tyres with a tankslapper into a spin. So I did another lap and pitted.

The 86 caught the Atenza(running 4th) with 10 minutes to go. I would have been past it at that point. The Aston had just come out the pits in fresh rubber. Would have been a nice buffer with the Aston having to pass both those cars. Oh well. That's why we play.

Edit: hold on, might have been 3rd. The Lambo ran out of fuel at the final turn and lost two spots.

Edit2: I'm just now realising Nations are only the RC F and M4. What the what?
