Just dropping into the topic after reading the posts about the blockers on some tracks being removed.

I presume this also means they are gone at Interlagos (Brazil) as well?

Whilst it was not the other drivers fault i had a bad incident where I got squashed into those blocks on turn 3 and
thought to myself they could be a problem in the actual race season.

Will have to keep this in mind I guess when it comes to Lake Maggiore race.
Guess those blocks were just there for testing before the Official Season began. Doubt they would be inconsistent in practice in proper season.

Good clean race. Enjoyed to watch your moves. Great run.👍
Surprised with the tyre life that allowed you to push all the race.:dopey:
That only means I'm not pushing those tires hard enough.

I continue to be confused as to why I can't match my lobby lap times with tire wear on with the actual races. I get more understeer in the latter even while in clean air.

It is strange, I have done many practice lobbies and it always turns out that I use up more fuel in the actual races themselves. It's some sort of unexplainable 'thing' that has been happening in the game since the first Test Season that had tyre/fuel consumption (perhaps even earlier, I didn't spend too much time in lobbies then and the daily races were all without degradation I think)

Been a while since I touched the FIA race, but I decided to give it a go yesterday. Ran plenty of practice stints in a lobby and I'm so glad I managed to get all the kinks in my performance out of the way early.

Ran the NSX in the Nations Cup race and managed to qualify 3rd. Followed a GTR about a second behind comfortably until lap 5 when his pace dropped hard and he eventually spun. Made me think of my GTR bandwagon joke I made a while back.
. No other drama until about two laps to go when the gentleman behind me started to pressure. Completely fair and no wild moves until he eventually made a mistake as well. I just cruised after that as the leader was a mile ahead. Perfectly happy with my 2nd-place!

Went Honda for Manufacturers Cup. Qualifying was a bit duck and dodge, but I managed to get a draft behind a guy just my pace and the two of us got 2nd and 3rd on the grid. At the start of the race a Corvette got by me and made a mistake in the chicane. I tried to slow enough to duck to the inside but I clipped his corner and got a 5-sec.
. The next 3 laps were a give-and-take of him blowing by me on the straight and me edging by in the corners. I eventually got enough gap out of the hairpin to keep him behind going into turn 1. After that I immediately ran away.
. At some point the next NSX got by him as well and was desteoying the gap I had to him. I was sure I'd lose podium since he was well into the penalty difference, but on the last lap he started coasting. Said he was low on fuel after.
. It's a shame I got tied up behind the Corvette. The whole race after I passed him I ran dead even lap times with the two fighting up front, but I was too far back already.

All in all I was very pleased with my results and hope the next two days will be similar.

:gtpflag:Just placed 3rd in the nations in an A/S lobby
8 seconds behind CRT_Daniel who is fassst.
Got almost 1300 points up to 1800 now. Room to beat that i hope in the next week, bring her up to 2400 maybe??
Pretty happy with that as im def no alien.
Puts me ranking pretty high in Vancouver CA region :gtpflag:.

Hey bud I was in that race too! It was loads of fun. I’m not very fast on that track so I started 19th but I raced a clean race and was able to finish 10th basically just by not messing up. Watching the replay now to see other’s perspectives. This was right before things started to go downhill for me yesterday, lol.

Great job catching a podium there btw

My first time driving the X2014 and it's at Monza. You ask me for a nightmare combination, well, this is one of them! I ended up having to completely change my wheel settings just to not crash the thing in practice. Then I realized that the fast time requires severe corner cuts except I keep hitting the chicanes wrong and launching the front end up in the air. Eventually, I did run a 1:49 flat and as much as I want to skip this race, I need the practice. They used that horrible thing in competition, after all.

What settings are you using? Those Red Bull things are a twitchy mess.
Any changes to brake balance?
I could see this race being a survival-fest, just make it to the end without any major errors and you will probably pick up good points.

Is the redbull junior like faster karts? I haven't driven it yet. I remember pre-season karts at brands, a lot of the top 10s were using CSA. Assuming it's still forced off for this race should make it that much more interesting.

Halfway between karts and Gr.1, with an added helping of twitchiness. They’re fun on wide tracks where you don’t have to use the curbs...Monza being the opposite of that.

I’m just regarding it as a throwaway race like Le Mans and Tokyo, just going to drive around at 80% and pick up places when other people crash.

Will the fuel be enough to run a one-stop without doing any saving? In the Nations Cup.

Wasn't a problem with some cars, the GT-R and Vette at least.

Same thing happened to me on Nations Cup Race : On my quali lap i was 0.3 seconds faster than pole position after 2 sectors but at the chicane SURPRISE ! 3 cars ahead of me on the racing line :( impossible to overtake them with their barrage

Hey, at least I tried to get out of your way...

I did that but it didn't keep my time and put me at the back of the field.

Did you get penalties by any chance? Only laps with no outstanding penalties when crossing the line count for the grid order.

No penalties, but that's good to know. Thanks.

Keith.

I've never driven the X2014 or done a single lap at Monza... I have some practice to do.

My best tip I can give you for that car at Monza is to brake early for the first chicane (it comes up quicker than you'd imagine) and be careful of
penalties going through the chicane at T2 it is very easy to pick up a penalty by being too close to the edge of the track and also make sure to
avoid the curbs! :)

I set my feedback torque all the way to 10. Basically, I firmed up my wheel to keep my inputs to the minimum. So far, I've left the brake balance alone. The twitchiness can be kept in relative check if you avoid coasting and always apply some throttle.

Even with all that, it took me about an hour just to string together laps without crashing. I feel I can manage every corner now except the second chicane.

With tuning allowed we would not have to drive and crash this car with such a horrible PD stock tune . I hate it this way , it's a very good car with some basics tweaks .

What do we think the strategy will be for the next FIA Nations Cup race? When looking at the race settings it is 13 laps at Monza with 5x fuel and 30x tires. Do you think a 2 stop might be fastest because of tire wear? Pit on lap 5 for fuel and tires, then pit on lap 10 for just tires and go to the end? Thoughts?

Agreed. These races are going to be an absolute cluster 🤬. T1 will be chaos. It brakes really well compared to GR3 and GR4 which I'm guessing most players are more used to so theres not going to be a huge margin between a clean, fast corner and pinball.

It is also fast and twitchy. Not sure I could get around a fast-ish lap without FFB when I really don't want to feel that feedback to be fast. Its quite a fine balance and I'm expecting carnage.

Even with the issues I'm expecting I'm still going to find the time to do it. It'll be fun even if I get t-boned through t1.

yikes that hard? hmmmmmmmmmm sounds like bad news for me
A lot of that time was before I figured out how to manage the throttle to keep the car stable. Once that clicked, it wasn't as bad. I'll have to drive it with tire wear to see what it does over the long run.

All depends on how much you burn out the rear left, but absolutely not 2 stops

With each lap you run it get harder and harder to keep the rear end in line. The car is a rear tire destroyer.

The X2014 is just another car that PD didn't set well at all. This is really stupid in my opinion to spend so much time modeling the car and it seems 1 minute or no time at all to set the balance of the car. This is really stupid.
The only problem of this car is the stock aerodynamic balance . The stock value is half front & half rear but the rear need much more.
Half front & Max rear downforce resolve the problem and the car is a wonder to drive....... But it's not possible to fix this mess for the race so you will have to deal with it or not.... This is STUPID. If PD want the same stock car for all the racers at least they must offer good cars or the peple will stay tired of this , just like me.

I did a mock race run and the rear tires did indeed wear faster. Compared to that awful Huracan I drove at Monza, though, I can live with the X2014.

The Redbull junior is an absolute mess. It felt a lot better on GT6.

It's incredibly unpredictable. A bit like the go karting.
So I'm not the only one who dislikes the performance of the X2014 Junior!

I must be the only person who likes the car haha! Just drive it like the GT5/6 go-kart and it drives perfectly :). I just hate the 2nd chicane cut, I've never cut there before due to the sausage being so high, but I have to and it's the cause of most of my failed laps.
