So is the 'S' thing of any use?
Or is it badge to say I am better than you? I wonder if it will be a target to some people?

It means you get to wear your underpants on the outside.

If you get to the finals you get some special issue Puma underpants on the outside. Wouldn't like going commando. Must chafe a bit in the summer.

Aside from the ingame DR S, that is just "over" your current DR and the participation in the World Tour: nothing.

What happens if you're not wearing any under... ok I've lowered the tone :lol:

Well, I think they'll check IP or even MAC adresses to see if several accounts come from the same place / system, also they might check similar looking names and then check IP. Then, if there's a match, check the infos provided and if it's different, ask for a proof (such as a copy of ID card or passport). Although for a case like this, the three brothers are known by PoDi (and for sure on GT5 they weren't living under the same roof but that doesn't voids your point).

I think the end result of multiple accounts users will mostly be a matter of who will enforce the regulations (PoDi, Sony, FIA). I can see PoDi being a bit more relaxed about it than the laters.

If I'm really honest I don't see anyone enforcing it except where it's reported by another player, then I can see bans and disqualifications coming in. But it would look really odd to appear at the Nissan competition in Spain for example on 1 account and appear at the World finals from another.

Guessing It would chafe a bit. Also did a Neil Buchannan and did this mock up earlier.

I also got nominated for S class, even though I'm barely an A rank thanks to me choosing Honda and having a reasonable season. Don't think I deserve it though so I'll see whether I'll sign up for it

Confirmation of a few things as people were confused;

  1. 3.1.1 Season 1 and Season 2: in Seasons 1 and 2 Entrants may race to improve their driver rating which will enable them to gain additional points for participating in races during the Competition. Points accumulated in Seasons 1 and 2 shall be used to improve each Entrants driver rating only and shall not contribute to an Entrant’s final Online Series score. (So only the final season counts for those that were confused).

And for the most confusing new T&C of them all...

  1. 3.6 During Season 3, on each race date, prior to starting each race, Entrants shall be required to confirm whether they would like to participate in the Manufacturer Series race or the Nations Cup race. The points they earn in that race shall contribute to their total points for the applicable championship as appropriate. Entrants may select one championship for each race they participate in, but may participate in both championships on each race day.
I nearly had a shock when I first read the start of that... Seems a bit weird but it's just what we do now except with an accept button I presume.

6.1 Subject to clauses 6.2 and 6.3 below, Entrants shall be eligible to register as a star player if they either:
  1. 6.1.1 are in the top 200 season point rankings of their respective season; or
  2. 6.1.2 are in the top 10 season point rankings in their Entrant Country; or
  3. 6.1.3 are in the top 10 season point rankings for their respective manufacturer (Manufacturer Series only).
6.1.3 is a bit odd? Not sure how that works.

  1. 7.5 For each Top 24 Superstars Race, the 24 most highly ranked Star Players who have registered for the applicable race shall be selected to participate. This ranking may be based on each Entrant’s driver rating or the total number of points acquired in the applicable season. The way in which Star Players are ranked for the purposes of Top 24 Superstars Race selection shall be defined prior to the start of each Top 24 Superstar Race.

So different through the season and will be notified.

Registered for the SS thingy for a laugh and proceeded to do one race just to see what its all about. Name was still PSN name, not the display name I chose - this is what I was curious about. The only difference seems to be that your DR is S now. A few other players had SS ranks with no way to tell whether they were A+/A/B etc.

I have a question regarding the Official FIA championships. I have missed the first season and i'm thinking of participating in the second season. I have read the rules a few times but it isn't clear for me so maybe someone can help me.
Because i have missed season 1, i'm not able to participate in the "top 24 superstars" races in season 2, right? If this is true, i have not a real chance anymore to compete with the top because the superstars races earn you double the points, right?

You can't race in the top 24 superstars however most people still can't race in it even if they are S as there are only 24 spots and potentially 450 drivers from the rules I read above. However if you aren't S now this is your last chance (This season) to try make one of these to get S for season 3 where it really will matter!

Maybe display name with show up on the driver name car sticker and / or in FIA races. If it's none of this, then it has literally no use.

For in-game name, they ideally want you to use your real name, hence why the example in the textbox (in the UK at least) was "John Smith"

I just found a driver with a DR of 3,000 that got S . Without sounding elitist it feels like it's been handed out like Candy.. There's no way in my mind a driver with a DR of 3,000 should be getting S, kind of makes a mockery of it, especially as thousands of drivers above DR of 3,000 will not get it!

I'm pretty sure the name should be your real name, and will only be used in live events. If you watch the Nürburgring live races all the players had their names, not their PSN IDs.

Yep it's stupid. They'll have signed for a rubbish manufacturer or come from a country with very few drivers so it's almost an automatic S for them. I can't believe they have not made it so that you have to be a A/A+ level driver first to be eligible for S.

I was just about to ask how that is even possible? I used to be good, but only race online once, maybe twice a week for two races max at a time, and it's taken me since February to just get to the A class, and I haven't lost any DR points yet.

Thanks for the explanation, that could be the only logical possibility of how that happened.

If you are 800th overall in manuf. cup, but lets say 10th amongst VW drivers: you get an S rank.

Ye I've been looking into that, the lowest ranked person in manufacturer with an S currently is ranked 2,117, but not everyone is home from work or has switched on the play station so who knows how far that could go down. I got bored at rank 3,000 so stopped haha!

I hope that's not the 2nd place driver in the USA for PUG

@ivann here you go

Remember on both screens the front of the other car shows meaning we're exactly perfect alongside. The angle doesn't look good just before the apex (had to get properly alongside) but I am on the brakes in order to turn in sharper at the apex/just after. Second clip you can see what I think the opponent should have done (not that much room needed though) and then him trying to push me off.

One thing I found of interest is watching a broadcast of Moto GP during the lead up to the broadcast the station ran a clip about e-sports and the emergence and growing popularity of the concept.

They showed and talked about a competition being held for the first time at an actual sports venue, showed the competitors and talked about how in the future e-sports will probably grow to be huge for competitors and fans alike.

Granted the spot was about a FIFA soccer competition but just mainstream e-sports getting tv promotion does bode well for its future across all forms and types of competition.

Yeah, it's definitely strange to see very low DR people getting star status. To be honest I thought for a while you'd need to meet the conditions in both championships to get it. So yeah, one single race in season 1 would have been enough for me to qualify for it

Now question is to see if matchmaking still uses the DR value or if DR S overrides it and gives you priority on top splits. If that's the later, we're going to see weird stuff for season 2 :D

As long as they met the prerequisites, they deserve it. It's not their fault if people in their country didn't enter or because other people didn't choose a certain manufacturer.

It is only temporary and correct me if I'm wrong, but it doesn't change the matching for races. Therefore will not change any final outcomes and could even be a bit embarrassing for them.
