One criticism i have on fia: having so much points to offer on only one race is not a good idea. It basically tells that the rest of the championship doesnt matter (9 rounds) and the better suited cars on that last track will be the luckiest.

Im a big defensor of 24SS races, but giving almost as much points youve earned in the whole championship prior to this round is not fair. Give it a bit more points than the other 24SS races, like a 1.5x. By this it doesn't make the rest of the tournament worthless.

I agree with this. The high multiplier giving rise to huge amounts of points almost equal to the points gained so far just seems absurd.

To add to this someone suggested having a base point system for lobbys based on DR, which I think would be a good counter to those at low A+ (for example) tanking their DR to gain more points in lower A only lobbys. That is effectively smurfing.

Had a successful night overall for the America's region Top 24. Finally got my long awaited Top 24 win in Nations which I was absolutely not expecting. Took a note from @Aderrrm (GTP_Aderrrm) and went for the Audi R18 '16 to switch it up and be a little different. Ended up making it work to end up 2nd overall in the Americas!

Manufacturer was decent with a 6th place finish for 6th overall in Americas Manufacturer and 1st for Mercedes. Had an odd 5 second penalty in the first corner that limited a better finish. I'm still not sure how I managed to get the penalty, but it looks like an algorithm issue where FT_NicoR bumped me in the left hander, and then he went off just enough in the right hander for track limits...being that I was the last person he touched, it hit me with the penalty. Oh well!

Really looking forward to National and World finals where it all counts! You can catch the stream below from my point of view.

Much agreed. I had a successful Top 24 Nations where I took the win which pushed me into 2nd overall which was great for me, but I don’t necessarily believe the best people throughout the season in all regions finished where they should’ve. Especially if they had poor luck or a bad result in the last race.

I would love to see them run consistent points for every race, just like they do in the real world. One off Superstar races would be fantastic and definitely have their place. Maybe throw in some prize money or something. But I think weighting one huge race for the results does sway the end results somewhat unfairly. We have to keep in mind that this is really just a test season or test year so it will be interesting to see how things progress for the next full official season.

The problem with people getting more points in a 2nd split (and hence some people trying to tank) is mostly because of the 75K cap. The ability of the top split is far higher than the 2nd split but due to the DR Limit, the points aren't as high as they should be, so 10th in an incredibly tough split gets way fewer points than a split with a 50-55K DR estimate.

Also 0 points for 20th is also an issue

Well, after a very unlucky season. Having 2 DC on round 8 and missing one 24 races, i started this race on 6th with 1,3k points of diference with Lester who start 3rd. I had all the odds against me.
I did the best comeback possible, struggling with the tires at last laps of every stint. I gave everything, and pushed myself beyond thanks to all the guys who participated at that race. Thank you all.
Just 1 spot of difference would have changed the history. But races are races. Even if we are just in game.
Congratulations to Turismo-Lester for representing Dodge, @ORMA_Snow for winning manufacturers championship, and race. He had the best pace at the end.

Well I finally finished a FIA season with enough rounds to actually get an accurate points total.

Nations last night went alright. I like the days when they have the Top24 because it means that none of those guys will be in my lobby where they don't belong!

Qualified 13th (I think) and finished 11th for 1077 points. Over 1000 is typically what I'm shooting for and enough to make me happy, so can't complain. Pretty clean race, had some back and forth with a few guys but overall pretty uneventful and spent a lot of the race alone.

Manufacturer's Cup went decent too I guess. As usual for Interlagos (or most FIA races actually) I got pushed around quite a bit during Lap 1. There were a few divebombs here and there, not necessarily "dirty" driving, but lots of people pushing through positions when I didn't expect them to. I seem to get taken advantage of often during these races and need to come up with a better strategy for more aggressively defending my line and the inside, without being a douche myself. It just seems like over-aggressiveness seems to be rewarded at times, for those who've learned how to game it. Anyway, qualified 9th with a rather weak qualy time of 1:33.5, should have been around .1 or .2 for me. After the first lap I was squeezed down to around 15th but eventually worked my way back up to finish in 10th for 986 points. Not terrible, but I feel like I had the potential to finish in the top 7 had I not made mistakes and not been divebombed and ushered around by contact and incidents. But, stuff happens, it's cool.

Overall I'm excited to have finished in the top 10 for Mitsubishi and the top 200 in both MFG and Nations. Also pretty stoked to have reached A+ during the season, which is something I did not think I would ever be able to do when I started playing this game last December. Crossing over 50k DR has definitely hindered my ability to gain FIA points, but oh well, the system is what it is. Still not bad for a 36 year-old guy with a busy job who hadn't touched any video game whatsoever for about 15 years.

I told myself and my girlfriend a few weeks ago that I'd take some time off from the game after the end of the final 2018 season, and here we are. So I won't be racing for the next month or so, if I can stay away. I've got plenty of things to do at work and at home that I've neglected since becoming obsessed with this game, lol. Time to catch up on real life, but I'll keep perusing this forum until my return from semi-retirement. It's been a pleasure meeting and racing with you all.

Here's my fun times in Nations. I could've used the other Pug and fuel saved like crazy but I went with the ugly one... and still fuel saved. That was partly as a test on working the fuel mixture during a race. The problem I kept having was the G29's dial doesnt' work with even the slightest of wheel turns.

And then my not so fun times in Manufacturer's. Simply not a Jag track and an awful Q made it worse. I did what I could but it simply wasn't enough. Mediocre car that should not be picked unless the final T24 race is at Toyko East or St Croix B.

Good job! The only exciting thing about yesterday's race was our group of Mitsubishi top 10's battle. Again, bad luck struck me yesterday and the most bizarre accident that ever happened to me ruined my qualifying. Was about to do what could probably be my best ever qualy lap, down to -600-something on the last sector, when a Porsche appeared out of nowhere - don't even remember because it was like a nightmare scene - but I think his car came from the pit lane to the track and stopped right in front of my car when I was about to cross the finishing line. Hit him at almost 250km/h and had engine failure etc. As for the race, you're right. Sportsmanship was neglected for the whole first lap and the only way to survive at this level competition is to be more aggressive too. I think it's stupid to have to defend the inside on every corner because of divebombs, but it seems like it's the only thing to do. Too difficult to push the car to the limit when you have to save tires and fuel and still be extremely careful about track limits.

BTW, I'm another old guy who started this hobby with GTS. Reached A+ before the FIA season but ended in A after yesterday's race, lol. Also going on semi-retirement soon for the same reasons.

Man that sucks! I remember you saying something about it in the chat. I really wish we had more time to qualify in most of these races, especially tracks with times of 2 minutes or longer.

It really was pretty cool that so many fast Mitsubishi guys were in that lobby. I remember thinking it was awesome that we were all pretty close together right at the end! I had a pretty good battle with The_ice_ man7 and ended up finishing before him on penalties, but he still beat me in total FIA points because both of us crossed off a weaker score yesterday and I guess the final total put him just ahead of me.

Congrats to you as well, it's been a good season. Get some rest and I'll see you again when we both come out of retirement. I'm kind of hoping I'll be back in A/S for the next season I enter so I can have some more competitive races with guys on my level. I feel like I'm only A+ on certain car/track combos and it's not a good representation of my overall skill, so often during these FIA races I feel overwhelmed by that and the increased level of aggression.

Actually did both races last night. Nations didn't go so well. Poor quali lap and went off 3 times in the race, P15.

Meanwhile manufacturers had one of my most enjoyable races for a while, so gg to the matchmaking on this one. Messed up T4 on both my quali laps and started P9. Had a good start off the line and gained a couple of positions. By the end of the stint I was P5, came in on lap 7 to try an undercut and managed to get past 2 drivers. I was just about keeping up with the front two but the lack of straightline speed didn't help. At the start of lap 14 I got a good run on 2nd place but touched the grass slightly on the outside and lost a position. That potentially cost me the win as I had less penalties than the 2 in front and the 1 behind and the driver that was winning lost their brakes at T4 on the last lap for some reason which must've been gutting. So in the end it was P3, a really fun race with battles throughout, but also a slight case of what might have been.

I could've used the other Pug and fuel saved like crazy but I went with the ugly one... and still fuel saved.

FYI, the other Pug did 5 laps flat-out, with fuel to spare. It also allows shifting very early (peak power starts around 3000 RPM IIRC, just make sure it doesn't drop below that), saving lots more fuel with little if any drop in pace. @Tidgney and others no-stopped over 8 laps in the EMEA T24 SS race in it.

Manufacturers has always been my best championship, I was top 5 in every season from test season 20 onwards apart from 23 (when I was ill). Unfortunately when it counted I've somehow managed to be 51st . Several races the Mitsubishi just had no chance and in all but one of the crucial races something went completely wrong, either qualifying bad or jump start or something else. Was hoping to at least move up to around 35th in yesterdays race but got disconnected :banghead:. Congrats to jadams who pulled out some great results and nailed the last top 24 to finish 3rd. Between me and him Mitsubishi has finished 3rd every season from the preseason onwards lol!

Nations was much better but it was filled with good results rather than great results and as we know to get into the T24s you need to whack out great results from the start. Ended up 25th there which is pretty good considering I was in none of the top 24s but alas it was not enough. Kept trying to the end in the hope I could get 4th for first reserve but unsurprisingly a bad quali let @mclarenLB get that (congrats).

Anyway despite now missing out on 4 live events I have managed to find the positives...

1) I did actually good in the nations for once, which suggests I am getting better at car picks and driving non-gr3/gr4 cars.
2) I beat the manufacturer winner :D
nicepic.png

Incidentally that also shows just how much goes into this and how many different factors there are than just pace (e.g. disconnects)!

So, after the end of the official FIA competition, I have mixed feelings about this. My IRL schedule got overloaded pretty much at the worst time possible, that with the fact I'm not tied to an e-sport team, I had to chose to focus more on one series from the get go. Since France is ultra competitive and I've never driven much Gr.1 cars, I chose to focus on Manufacturers. Sadly, the final season schedule was pretty much the worst thing for Mazda, and I busted what should have been my best or second best round on a stupid penalty in qualy, and had to miss another race which could have potentially been much more points than I thought possible. With the change in penalties, races going even more towards fuel saving trains and a decline in driving standards from some drivers, this was a frustrating run. Especially when your office chair breaks with 2 weeks to go and you have to use a garden chair  And with a bed starting to fall apart, I pretty much had to change half of my furnitures during the final season  And now that it's finished I've just received a brand new rig :D:banghead:

But even though I didn't met my goals and feel like I could have done much better, I'm still happy with some great races and solid results in both pre seasons and final season, bringing in some podiums from strong splits. And most of all, I'm glad I put the effort into it since it allowed me to race and battle with great drivers I would have probably never crossed paths with otherwise, and even though I did stupid things in a few races, I'm proud I've been called a clean and fair racer by some of the most respected guys out there (special thanks to @Tidgney and @kie25 for the kind words on their videos and shootout to @Cuber Tom who had the best showcase of sportsmanship in the final season following a contact and everyone who provided clean battles and good practice lobbies). Now I want to keep racing those guys, no matter what, if anything, is at stakes.

It's a shame this competition was spoiled by so many issues, when it had so much potential and a bunch of people really putting a lot of work into it. I hope if the game survives another year with enough of a player base to do another round of this in 2019, that the involved parties will manage their ressources better and take feedback into account. I'd have a lot of ideas to suggest but that will be for another day. For now, I just want to enjoy racing with friends again and more chilled events. Anyway, congrats to everybody who's going to the regional and world finals, please bring your highest racing standards there and provide a great show so our passion gets more popular

By the time I realized the other Pug was becoming popular, I tried to use it myself. Quickly found out it would take too long to learn driving it fast around Le Mans.

That and using the ugly Pug was my way of protesting against this fuel saving business. It's simply not fun at all.

Pretty sure you'll get an invite mate, since Makozi and Brocky 05 are A+ drivers not S it should go down to 12th place. Thats the way i see it anyway.

The rules state for Asia/Oceania that up to 10 of the best drivers from each country can be chosen to go to the live events, in this case the regional finals. Because of this Nik (depending on when he turns 18) and Brocky should be allowed to go, since it doesn't specify that the player has to have DR S, and thus drivers that have DR A+ are placed on equal terms of eligibility. The only criteria that eligible drivers need to pass is being 18 or older by the time of the event.

However, some people might not be able to attend the for personal reasons, so you can always have a second chance if your the highest ranked among the reserve drivers. ;)

Hope this helps clear everything up.

Here's my slightly tentative drive whilst I was actually quite tired to the EMEA Mercedes seat:

Was a great clean race mate, at the end i thought it was no point trying to overtake you again because of the penalty you and rick had, so just managed to stay as close as possible (anyway i think i couldn't came back for another try without risking too much) and i focused myself more on only not getting penalties to overtake you both on the line and that worked, so happy with that 4th place :D thank you again for the race @force ewerby

So here is the last TOP 24 race (Manufacturer Series) from my point of view.

EVERYTHING went wrong.

First of all, 4 drivers got disconnected before enter the lobby, which is a shame. About them, maatu, who could win the Ferrari seat while he was leading, and... Atho who could win the Honda seat.

So before the race, I secured my place for the World Final. I wasn't that happy, because win without battling for it, it's not a win you can be proud of. Well, at least I can say I was leading before the last race.

The championship went well until that race, I won 4 races (1 top 24), 6 podiums, lead the field during almost the entire season, and went down to 14th place overall because of 1 bad race. Damn. That points system sucks.

But this achievement is still insane, 6 mounths ago I was nowhere, never made eSports races before, and now I'm here ; I'm still proud of me and I think the best is yet to come.

Going to the World Tour and to the World Final... It's something I could only dream of. And now I'm part of it. Crazy.

Well, about the race, the last stint is very interesting to watch, I made maybe 6 overtakes in 2-3 laps. Enjoy !

So, see you next time on track ! ;)

Some very harsh penalties on Lap 1 there. Just realised the reason you and everyone else couldn't get rid of the penalties at the end was because I brought the yellows out for my meme spin across the line . Probably just saved @TRL LIGHTNING after his late spin and got @Cuber Tom the vital extra points for Aston without even noticing (you're welcome guys ;))

Was holding my breath during Nico's stream of the T24 Nation's race. I'm A+ and was holding 13th in the region and 5th in the US before this final race. After the race, I'm now 9th in the US! So I think I'm good to go to regional finals as an A+!!!! Super excited!

@RoadBeef and I had our own little A+ championship and it's been a pleasure racing against such a talent, I believe he's also made it by securing 10th in the US, we did it bro!

You killed in today's race at Le Mans. That Peugeot really rocketed away on the straight! Should've went with that one, but I was definitely comfortable holding 2nd. Although the guys behind kept me honest. Really great season, terrific effort from everyone!!!
So, um... Last night was the first time in years that I kept myself awake with excitement. Normally my cat sleeps at my feet at night but last night she chose my fiance's side of the bed because I was fidgeting around for hours. I want to believe. I hope I receive an email on the 15th.

@Wardez - dude, high ****ing five. We had a few super races and if this is all true (still in mild disbelief) then facing you head to head in person will be a real treat. One of those times where I'd be happy losing because of how much I'd potentially learn from the experience.

Until then how about a race report. Skipped the Manu race as I had a prior engagement to attend. But spent the earlier hours of yesterday practicing for Nations. Applied about 90 minutes into making a nifty R18 livery only to ditch that car and go with the 908 instead.

Put it on pole with a good target time but no fewer than three R18s pounced past me at the start with superior 4WD acceleration.

@Wardez leading the field into Dunlop

Focused on a good exit from Tetre Rouge and managed to get a double-draft heading towards the first chicane. 218mph!!

Braking from 350kph+, I believe we all avoided contact here. @Sharkart_Kun in the mix too -edit: and @BLKJ Evolution

Miffed my braking into Indianapolis and Wardez closed the gap, pulling near alongside heading towards Porsche. Thump thump goes the heart!

6 month ago I was probably better then now, because my "driving skill" (barely daring to call it that way) is following an unpredictable curve (like a heart attack or so)

I was in your Lobby and I am watching the replay right now. I considered asking if you had a heart attack since your car was just driving the rounds apparently with no Driver. Sometimes it was really scary as you Always expect a car to unghost in the worst Moment. What happened?

I know I am one of those Audi's on the left side, but I am not sure which one! That was a great nations race last night, and I am pretty proud of that 3rd place finish behind you and @Wardez considering I only practiced for about 20 - 30 minutes right beforehand. I was apparently fuel saving far too much the entire race and finished with nearly half a lap of fuel remaining.

Edit: I am the Audi closest to the camera. I remember you rocketing past all 3 of us right before the braking zone.

I'll keep trying to stick to A+, but definitely not a bad idea to downgrade to A when competing for championship points. Mitsubishi was a weak choice for this final season, especially because of the peculiar Gr. 4 car, so it added more pressure to do well yesterday. See you around!

I had the tiniest fraction of penalty left when I crossed the line, if I'd braked like a metre earlier I think I would've taken 4th from you! But it doesn't really matter, there was only one other car in that race I had to beat.

Sadly my saved replay of this race was corrupted, so I couldn't see from who and how I got ramed and spooned therefore in lap 2. I ended in the rear end of the field. At this moment the race was already over for me, and after an another incident, the only thing of holding me back from quitting was the 20 pts SR loss what that costs. So the only option in this frustration was cruising until the nightmare was over.

Yes, it caused perhaps inconvinience to others, but overrounded vehicles do never unghost.

Anyway, thats another point why PD forces you to stay in a race when you want to quit

Comforts me a bit to see that even the best drivers had a hard time with Mitsubishi. We were cursed. So much bad luck for me too, and that Gr.4 car at Tokyo, Willow Springs and Kyoto...

Incidentally that also shows just how much goes into this and how many different factors there are than just pace (e.g. disconnects)!

Comforts me a bit to see that even the best drivers had a hard time with Mitsubishi. We were cursed. So much bad luck for me too, and that Gr.4 car at Tokyo, Willow Springs and Kyoto...

Tell me about it. I originally chose Mitsubishi because I figured there would be a lot more Gr.3 than Gr.4, and was hoping for more tracks like DT Gardens (where the Lancer shines!) if it was going to be Gr.4. Boy I was wrong. Willow springs and Tokyo were just the absolute worst for Gr.4 Mitsu. To make it even worse, my Big Willow race put me in the so-called top split with Nico and others leading the pack. I finished dead last, lol. It also didn't help that the Gr.3 got nerfed mid-season, so lost some of its power.

I'm thinking I'll probably go with one of the power Manufacturers next time. Chevy, Dodge, maybe even Lexus or Aston Martin...but then we'll probably get all the nimble tracks where the handling cars do best, lol.

It seems we have to pick our manufacturer for 2019 if we want to do the off season. I was hoping to try a few different ones out as I’ve got limited experience in fia.

Good job! You didn't stop right? I looked at a no stop with the R18 but didn't think the pace was good enough so stuck with the 1 stop. Seemed you made it work. :)

Seems like most of the handling tracks are slowly exiting PD’s rotation for the “serious races”, so I think the power cars will always have the advantage. Unless they add some new tracks. Most of the ones they’re adding are more power tracks as well.

Nations

Final race of the season, but only my 6th one for Nations. Qualified P3, passed most of the race in P2, but lost it in the last chicane by braking a little too late, which gave a big enough opening for P3 to pass me and even serve his penalty before crossing the line. Still, I was happy with the result, which improved my ranking from 185th to 161th.

Manufacturers

I was on a really bad sequence for this series, but I knew the AMG could be good on Interlagos. Any decent result could would replace the low points obtained wednesday on Yamagiwa. Qualified P14 (ugh!), but gained 5 positions before the Senna Esses. Then, most of the places I gained were from people spinning out. Didn't really attempted to pass anybody, just wanted to preserved my tires and fuel. Pitted while in P5. Then got passed by P6, but he spun out on the following lap. Stayed in P5 until the end. Got my best points for this series.

Yeah I just couldn't get any good results in that gr4 at all. I found out after round 1 I was short shifting it by accident and losing loads of straight line but even after that it was still at best a mid-pack car. It gains all its performance from how early you can floor it mid-corner and if your angle is slightly off or you do it a tiny bit late you can lose tenths over a lap. Tokyo was actually gr3 but I think it's literally the only track where the gr3 is bad and they gave us it!

Yeah I hoped I'd have good enough gr3 races to not really care too much about the gr4 but only having one competitive car was always going to make it harder if any of those gr3 races went wrong. I actually found Lago maggiore to be the worst, it was more than a second off the pace and I finished 22nd in the T24 I think... Yep the nerf also didn't help on the straights :(.
