It seems we have to pick our manufacturer for 2019 if we want to do the off season. I was hoping to try a few different ones out as I’ve got limited experience in fia.

I doubt it. In the previous test seasons it was on a season-by-season basis. They would probably also warn us if it were long-term.

It does warn you, when you choose a manufacturer it says you cannot change for the duration of ‘ID 2019’, what ID2019 means I don’t know but I’m guessing the year 2019?

I hence withdraw my hypothesis.

ID_2019 is Off-season exhibition - Season 1

I hope your right, but of all the tags they could have given they picked ID 2019? But they haven’t announced this off season yet so hopefully they will clarify it.

There's no way you'll be stuck with your off-season pick into the second official FIA season.

I’d like to hope so I’m only guessing given the name they have chosen

What does URL have with Championship name?
2018 Series - Final Season URL is 1070.
You just said "ID_2019" is Exhibition 1. I thought you might have got that from the ID in the URL for the exhibition championship, but it is 1183. I want to know where you have got the information "ID_2019" is exhibition 1.

Yeah I just couldn't get any good results in that gr4 at all. I found out after round 1 I was short shifting it by accident and losing loads of straight line but even after that it was still at best a mid-pack car. It gains all its performance from how early you can floor it mid-corner and if your angle is slightly off or you do it a tiny bit late you can lose tenths over a lap. Tokyo was actually gr3 but I think it's literally the only track where the gr3 is bad and they gave us it!

Yeah I hoped I'd have good enough gr3 races to not really care too much about the gr4 but only having one competitive car was always going to make it harder if any of those gr3 races went wrong. I actually found Lago maggiore to be the worst, it was more than a second off the pace and I finished 22nd in the T24 I think... Yep the nerf also didn't help on the straights :(.
Yes, worst nightmare was Maggiore this season and not Tokyo (got disconnected and zero points at Tokyo though). My mind was erasing that race from my memory to avoid trauma I guess.

So, after the end of the official FIA competition, I have mixed feelings about this. My IRL schedule got overloaded pretty much at the worst time possible, that with the fact I'm not tied to an e-sport team, I had to chose to focus more on one series from the get go. Since France is ultra competitive and I've never driven much Gr.1 cars, I chose to focus on Manufacturers. Sadly, the final season schedule was pretty much the worst thing for Mazda, and I busted what should have been my best or second best round on a stupid penalty in qualy, and had to miss another race which could have potentially been much more points than I thought possible. With the change in penalties, races going even more towards fuel saving trains and a decline in driving standards from some drivers, this was a frustrating run. Especially when your office chair breaks with 2 weeks to go and you have to use a garden chair  And with a bed starting to fall apart, I pretty much had to change half of my furnitures during the final season  And now that it's finished I've just received a brand new rig :D:banghead:

But even though I didn't met my goals and feel like I could have done much better, I'm still happy with some great races and solid results in both pre seasons and final season, bringing in some podiums from strong splits. And most of all, I'm glad I put the effort into it since it allowed me to race and battle with great drivers I would have probably never crossed paths with otherwise, and even though I did stupid things in a few races, I'm proud I've been called a clean and fair racer by some of the most respected guys out there (special thanks to @Tidgney and @kie25 for the kind words on their videos and shootout to @Cuber Tom who had the best showcase of sportsmanship in the final season following a contact and everyone who provided clean battles and good practice lobbies). Now I want to keep racing those guys, no matter what, if anything, is at stakes.

It's a shame this competition was spoiled by so many issues, when it had so much potential and a bunch of people really putting a lot of work into it. I hope if the game survives another year with enough of a player base to do another round of this in 2019, that the involved parties will manage their ressources better and take feedback into account. I'd have a lot of ideas to suggest but that will be for another day. For now, I just want to enjoy racing with friends again and more chilled events. Anyway, congrats to everybody who's going to the regional and world finals, please bring your highest racing standards there and provide a great show so our passion gets more popular

Was a pleasure racing you mate :)! Hopefully we race more in the future :D!

Had a successful night overall for the America's region Top 24. Finally got my long awaited Top 24 win in Nations which I was absolutely not expecting. Took a note from @Aderrrm (GTP_Aderrrm) and went for the Audi R18 '16 to switch it up and be a little different. Ended up making it work to end up 2nd overall in the Americas!

Manufacturer was decent with a 6th place finish for 6th overall in Americas Manufacturer and 1st for Mercedes. Had an odd 5 second penalty in the first corner that limited a better finish. I'm still not sure how I managed to get the penalty, but it looks like an algorithm issue where FT_NicoR bumped me in the left hander, and then he went off just enough in the right hander for track limits...being that I was the last person he touched, it hit me with the penalty. Oh well!

Really looking forward to National and World finals where it all counts! You can catch the stream below from my point of view.

Much agreed. I had a successful Top 24 Nations where I took the win which pushed me into 2nd overall which was great for me, but I don’t necessarily believe the best people throughout the season in all regions finished where they should’ve. Especially if they had poor luck or a bad result in the last race.

I would love to see them run consistent points for every race, just like they do in the real world. One off Superstar races would be fantastic and definitely have their place. Maybe throw in some prize money or something. But I think weighting one huge race for the results does sway the end results somewhat unfairly. We have to keep in mind that this is really just a test season or test year so it will be interesting to see how things progress for the next full official season.

Hey bud, I was watching Nico's stream of MFG at Interlagos and saw him pass your ghosted car on the way out of pit lane. What's up with that? Is that normal, and why did it happen? I've seen it happen plenty of times during warm-ups or qualifying, but the cars usually only overlap right when entering, not all the way down pit lane when they are about to enter the track in an actual race. Is there some kind of explanation or did you just get kinda screwed there?

Pretty sure you'll get an invite mate, since Makozi and Brocky 05 are A+ drivers not S it should go down to 12th place. Thats the way i see it anyway.

And, it seems not everyone who took up DR S is eligible...

Care to enlighten me ? Not eligable bacause of what actually ?

From this thread alone I'm gathering that age and their actual location of residence are an issue for a handful of players.

Just saying the player has more of a chance than they think they do.

K32
The rules state for Asia/Oceania that up to 10 of the best drivers from each country can be chosen to go to the live events, in this case the regional finals. Because of this Nik (depending on when he turns 18) and Brocky should be allowed to go, since it doesn't specify that the player has to have DR S, and thus drivers that have DR A+ are placed on equal terms of eligibility. The only criteria that eligible drivers need to pass is being 18 or older by the time of the event.

However, some people might not be able to attend the for personal reasons, so you can always have a second chance if your the highest ranked among the reserve drivers. ;)

Hope this helps clear everything up.

I don't want to go too much in depth with this but I thought "reserve" drivers didn't take into account the country limit, which in the Asian region would be entirely Japanese
I'm also aware of the allegedly "ineligible" people
Of course I am hoping they make an exception but keeping a lid on expectations for now

Congrats gentlemen, one step closer to the final prize. You deserve the recognition and what a battle so far, good luck the rest of the way.

IF I got everything right, this is the list of the finalists here in the Americas:

Manufacturers:
IOF_Racing17, Turismo-lester, FT_5zigen, GumballCGT, FT_NicoR, FT_Solid, FT_DieGodlike, FT_LLOYDZELITE, Z28, Thiago_Bica, FT_Ant, ORMA_Aspicito, Deafsun96, BLKJ_Evolution, JIM_FacuDudu, hendrix323

Nations:
TRL_doodle, FT_Mcqueen91, CRT-Didico15, NZNZNZNZNZNZNZNZ, T-GT_CristianoSa, DodgeLamb, OutlawQuadrant, Windfire1010, FT_hellZfirEJP, imEbrahimX7, Wardez, roadbeef, RacingKing89674, TRC_Stagger, Ax4xGearHead, maxking39, beatin_the_odds, PureCry, PunishedGTDriver, Gui_Josa, JGOERTZ5, RORY_TRUE, Sharkart, FT_BernalV, Project__D1, FT_6SPEED, RevvitUpman, ORMA_EstebanV_CR, TurbopanzerGT, praiano63.

As Sharkart already said, I don't know if CRT-Didico15 and Didico15 are the same player, and if it's, if he will be DQed. If he gets DQed, sambygtr gets the last place.
Strange to see a guy that got 158th place (4913 pts) in the Manufacturers Series qualified to the World Finals.
The rules says that confirmation emails will be sent on Sep 15th.

I'm not quite sure about how they'll fill the blanks left by the guys that qualified for both but decided to go to the Manufacturer's... It all seems kinda obscure to me.

Hello, Ott2-gt here. I'm posting on GT Planet for the first time since... let's just call it the 'incident'... because I felt like writing about my final season, for whomever may be interested in reading.

I had the potential to qualify for the final Top 24 race of the season, but woe followed me at almost every turn. Rounds 3 and 8 were particularly frustrating; the former ruined by a blue screen (schnick had the same problem), the latter by other drivers in both qualifying and the race. It meant that I needed a dream final round to guarantee regionals... but I knew it was possible, as Group 1 and Le Mans is one of my strongest combinations.

Top split in the first timeslot proved to be the best case scenario for me, as the aliens were absent but 1st place was still worth 2,209 points. I managed to qualify second despite my lap feeling rather ordinary (3:24.8), and crucially, the pole-sitter (3:24.0) was using the Tomahawk. So when the race started, the L750R's hybrid kicked in and by turn 1, I was ahead. And from there I just kept on increasing the lead, able to attack with more confidence than I had done in qualifying, whereas the pole-sitter was unable to replicate their pace and fell to third.

The only error I made all race was a small cut on Tetre Rouge which meant a penalty, but it proved inconsequential, especially with a battle behind on the last lap (the pole-sitter doing a naughty to regain P2). I won the race and was supposed to leapfrog Brocky05 in the standings... so of course the points glitch happens, gives me 2,117 instead, and makes me nervously wait until the morning for schnickoman's score. Unfortunately, point algorithms screwed schnick too; a top split race worth only split two points, because the game unfairly lowers the points table when less than 20 players make the warm-up.

Nonetheless, I think schnick does go to regionals, because the official rules state that reserve selections still have to adhere to the country cap. And I don't think Nik_Makozi is going, not because of age, but because he appears to be residing in Macedonia. The most telling evidence is the constant 1-2 bar connection quality and his in-game clock being 8 hours early.

Hey, guys!
Please tell me about the tyres rule for new season. I noticed for Manufacturer race 2 set, hard and medium. So, we have to use them both during the Red Bull race on Wendsday? What is the rule here?
Also, I noticed the heavy damage for the Red Bull race and I practised a little, made a mistake and got multiple dameges in front of the car. I went to the pit and the mechanics didn't repaired them all, they fixed the Aero, but car remained with suspension damage, so I had to go to the pitstop again. Had no control there, so I did something wrong, or that's the new thing in FIA races about that ?
Thank you and sorry if it was discussed before, didn't found anything about it !

Its not mandatory to switch components, it just gives you 2 options.

I also ran one race at A1 ring, and pit crew repaired 3 things in 1 pit stop so Im not sure if it was a bug in your case. Maybe you pressed X early.

Anyway, cannot set tyre wear to x13 in custom race, how are we suposed to practice?
And it will be nascar chaos with the heavy damage :scared:

It says you can't in the rules in portuguese, I just read the rules in english and it does say you can race both! They're all over the place with changing rules... This puts me in a weird situation :indiff: Thanks for the heads up!

Edit: Maybe the brazilian players can't go to both events? It is sure plausible as it would be more expensive to pay our flights...

Dude, I saw your comment post race but that player who ended up getting pushed off the track was being far too aggressive defensively all race. What happened was almost inevitable.

I didn't know what had happened at the time but the problem between these two started earlier down the straight when the outcome was almost reversed going through the first mulsane chicane. I did enjoy passing this player though especially after they'd tried to push me off in the first lap. If only I'd remembered to flash my lights.

At the start they'd ran wide out of the first chicane, I was going up the inside as they were much slower and only them swerving all the way across the track at the last second stopped me. I had no choice but to hit them, either that or go off track, lucky neither of our races were ruined. They then proceeded to go super defensive down the straight and first chicane.

I made the decision then that this was one of those players that will either try to take me out but actually take both of us out trying to keep their position and sat back.

Sometimes it pays off, even if it was just one position, to let the crazies go for it. Sometimes you get lucky and they take out multiple players.

Oh and that one lap quali was a crapshoot! So many players, myself included, carried penalties across the line. Not that my lap was anything to write home about.

To be fair, when I checked the replay earlier, I skipped straight to the final incident between those two and the Tomahawk driver wasn't exactly free from guilt themselves. Makes a very late move to the inside during the braking zone of Indianapolis. I will have to look at the replay again to see everything that led up to it and whether or not the final move was provoked by earlier events.

Slight correction/addition - they were going far too defensive on the straight leading into the 2nd mulsanne chicane first lap. Going down the straight they moved across onto me. Not a big deal but they were definitely cruising for a bruising in that race.

SONY/PD must have a hardtime on who to invitr when under age / non residents made to the final cut.

Ok, thanks!
About pressing X, the only option with X button was "do not repair", which I didn't do, but the mechanics reppaired my front spoiler, but not the suspension damage, so I had to pit again. I will check again !
About practise, you can copy the settings and create a lobby for it, I do that all the time!

How do I register for Dr.S ? I saw some drivers already are Dr.S after the final Season, so I was curious how they registered. I know I have to be Top10 in Manufacturers or Top200 overall for example and should get a notification ingame, but I still didn’t get any.

Looking at the next manufacturers, I went with BMW (Winner of the Americas Manufacturer Series Final Season). Then, Kawakana stayed with Lexus. And then, Akagi went for Volkswagen (winner of the EMEA Manufacturer Series Final Season), but with the Beetle instead of the GTI VGT like what Derek uses to his victory and end the Nissan-TRL supremacy in EMEA. And finally, @Tidgney said that Lamborghini is his manufacturer after an up-and-down tenure with Peugeot.

Let's hope that Derek stays with VW to assist Akagi on power tracks... And will NicoR switch from BMW to something else?
