Some interesting "Things" from my manufacturers race that's for sure....

1) Some people were invisible to me but became visible during the session (Ruzzwald) - time stamped;

2) The weird penalty bug still exists

3) My Audi pitcrew won the DHL award. I'm hiring them out for £1,000,000 pounds an hour (Check my position going in and when I come out - time stamped again);

O and the full race for those that were watching when a piece of hardware in my network decided it didn't want to work anymore...

I had a rollercoaster of a Manu race for the 1st 9 laps but the real attraction waiting for me was.. a physics glitch? It was the same line I had been taking on this corner probably 100 times prior. Was it my fault somehow? This has completely thrown me for a loop.:confused::confused:

Go to 16:25 if the embedded time stamp doesn't work:

that sucks man, tough break. Looks like you just got a little too deep into that curb while on the throttle hard + tire wear....I was wondering what happened to you because I expected to see you closing the gap between us then looked up and you were gone. I hope to catch you on the track again soon bud

Did you have a lot of lock on?

The same steering as laps 2, 5, 6, 7 and the final lap, all of which were less severe lock than laps 1 and 8. It's so weird.

It's always fun racing with you, cheers.

I made one of my biggest mistakes to date in this race. It was at the 5:40 mark. I race using the cones as markers, but someone in the previous lap took them out and I lost my braking point. I wish I could take that one back.

Bit of strange night tonight

Did the Manufacturers first and either I am slow at Catalunya, or the Peugeot VGT is garbage out of slow corners. I think it was a bit of both, so qualified way back in 17th. This meant I started perfectly on the chicane, and the guy behind got a good run into the last corner at the start and tried to go up the inside. He nudged me a bit wide, and onto the astroturf and I spun into the wall on the inside. By the time I got turned around I was 35 secs off the lead and 15 secs of the 18th place guy so had a quiet race from then on. Managed to pick up a couple of places but a bit boring.

Hey, I was in the same room!! Sorry to see what happened to you. That looked painful. Had an awful one, myself. And I was really looking forward to my very first Gran Turismo home race (I live 20 minutes away from the real track). I drove my a** off to get a good qualifying and then on the very first lap, I got spun around at the braking point after the back straight. I managed to recover somewhat, but my motivation was sapped. Chose not to do the F1 at Interlagos, just because I feel people do not really control the car well and more often than not, you end up finding yourself in some "funny" situation.

Let's hope for better luck next time. One thing that does bother me is that I'm getting punted more often than not, which is a concern considering I'm A/S and I'm racing on ~1600 points rooms 95% of the time. And when you give it your all, qualify within the top 10 and some random guy pushes you out day in day out, it gets a bit frustrating.

Such a waste that N class Nations races always end up being a one (or two, like tomorrow) make race rather than getting to see all of the different cars on track together. I’d like to see them implement either a shuffle system where everyone randomly gets assigned a car from a list of 20-24 of the closer matched road cars, or do like they do at the finals, except instead of the fastest qualifier let the person with the most points choose their car first from the list, then go down until everyone’s made their choice. Sure you wouldn’t have custom liveries but it’d make the racing more interesting than a bunch of 911s or X-bows driving around in a line.

Guys???
May I (we) know... which is the car reaching best qualifying times today on Nations Cup race??? Please????

Pretty sure it goes
  1. Ford GT40 Mark 1 '66
  2. KTM X-Bow
  3. Toyota S-FR
Apart from those 3 I doubt you will see anything. Closest I got was with the older 911. GT40 seems to be fast and easy to drive, so it is the one to try (but costs $2.8 million). Even tried the Suzuki Swift, but it just didn't have the top speed :(

Thanks... and the S-FR is the special one: Racing Concept...aint it??? I kinda like that one!!

Has anyone here tested the tire strategy for Manufacturer's today?

I know the options are Soft and Medium, and I did a few practice laps on softs last night. Was able to get a 1:55.6 after a few tries, which isn't bad.

My guess is that a one-stop on Mediums will be perfect, with tire wear at 10X, but has anyone tried softs for 4-5 laps to see if that's possible? I'm in the Lexus so tire-wear isn't the best, but I don't want to be caught off guard and blown away by other people using softs.

Kie25 (Porsche) is no stopping it on softs(according to what he said last night). I think softs and with a pit stop was slightly faster but dropped him in traffic, so was safer to do a no stop. For me I will be doing a 1 stop with softs, and I am in the pug (super high tyre wear). I will be scary fast for the 1st laps and then try and hang on - which seemed possible in the 1 race I did last night.

Think you might be best doing 1 stop with softs tbh. You should be able to handle the tyre wear ok.

Wow a no-stop on softs would be impressive! I guess I'm just so used to the 14X tire wear that I figured softs wouldn't be wise. I also considered the idea of 4 laps on softs and 6 on mediums, but sometimes in the past the difference in tire wear between softs and mediums isn't dramatic enough to warrant using mediums. Recent Nations race, F1 at Interlagos comes to mind, where 2-stopping on Supersofts was faster than any version of a one-stop. I'm curious to see what the EU and Asian streamers do in their races. Hopefully I can catch some before it's time for the Americas slots.

Thanks for the feedback.

A good Nations run continues as I go from 7th to 4th at Fuji in the X-Bow. A bit more consistency and I could have made the podium, I only managed to get under 1:57 twice on lap 7 and 9.

Check out the video he posted on this. You can no stop on softs IF you are on pole or close to it. If you are in the middle of the pack, the risk isn't worth it.

Keith.

Ed - er I don't know how this post happened, I'll put my Manufacturers result in it later.

Yeah I ran 2 sets of Softs in my Manufacturers race and managed to get 2nd (started 4th), but I was really struggling at the end. Guy behind me in the Aston did the same and he looked fine, and same goes for the guy ahead in the Mitsubishi (15:56 finishing time, I was 11 secs back). I got quite lucky with guys picking up penalties just in front of me which allowed a couple of easy passes on the back straight.

For quali I just pootled around the out lap with TC5 and then booted it once I got to Parabolica. Basically get 2 sets of laps doing that in the 10 mins.

In the Nations race I chose the GT40, as it is quick, easy to drive and kind on its tyres. Managed to qualify 8th, so was reasonably happy. Unfortunately one guy on the grid was bugged, so everyone stacked up behind him and I eventually came out of it in 17th. Took me the rest of the race to work my way back up to 9th, so not a complete disaster, but did feel kinda sorry for the S-FR's my car ate on the straight. S-FR came 3rd and an X-Bow came 4th, so both are competitive if you don't want to race the GT40.

I think a no stop on softs will be pretty slow, a no stop on mediums maybe. Majority of cars destroy softs after 3-4 laps, with lap four not being great.

Cayman might be able to do it but you lose a lot of time in my experience at Monza from no front end grip. But the pit time is quite long so who knows.

I’m glad I watched your video because I was thinking this was a 10-lap race but now that I know it’s 8, the tire strategy everyone is recommending makes more sense. Pretty sure I can make a one-stop work on softs but a no-stopper would be pushing the limits for me in the Lexus. I doubt I’ll get pole, since I’ll be in a top lobby, but you never know. Thanks mate, and nice job in the race.

I only did a brief practice yesterday with the Lexus but it felt awful on mediums after Lap 5.

I'm not opposed to tire strategy but the races are too short as they stand. I don't even want to think of how bad it is for Gr4 FF cars.

I had a practice race earlier in the Nissan, for a car that I had to 3-stop at Brands Hatch the last time it did very well. I think it helps that Monza doesn't have many aggressive 90 degree corners though.

Gt sport needs to watch the replay on FIA because their was a lot of dirty racing going on, an it messed my driver rating up on the N300 FIA. If you would look t the replay I would really appreciate it.

I did a no stop on Mediums in today's Manufacturers race at Monza. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to do any testing beforehand so I went with this.

Ultimately it didn't allow me to attack in the race and I was defenceless in the final couple of laps. Still, I managed to keep out of trouble and pick up some points.

Monza is the worst track for the grid glitch to happen on. In addition to the usual spasming car, I had another one stuck a bit further up the track. Both were right in the middle of Parabolica, right in the racing line. So I got held up at the start and then went off on the first lap trying to avoid them since I didn’t expect them to be there. Took me out of a top 10 which is the best I could hope for in the 86 at Monza

Hopefully this maintenance tonight fixes that problem.

What a mess at Monza... Qualified 10th, finally started 15th because of the stupid bug and I was invisible to everyone until I decided to stop at lap 2 to ''fix'' that. Otherwise I was getting slammed out of corners by everyone and getting penalties because they didn't see me... I hope this night's update will fix that.

A great race followed by a terrible one.

Started 3rd in the X-Bow at Fuji. Not sure what happened with the polesitter but he started off really slow. Got past and then it became a duel with Niko (not that Nico). I was able to just stay within slipstream range and once I got into a rhythm, I started pulling him in. It ended up being a constant battle at T1 which he defended quite well but I finally got the lead. Then it was his turn to apply pressure and looked like it was going to be a tense final lap. Sadly, Niko outbroke himself and that was enough to win. What a hard clean battle.

Monza, that was all sorts of wrong. It started off great with starting 2nd in the Lexus and the Alfa ahead of me. Got the lead but the car decided to handle like junk and lost tons of spots with an aggressive but fair pass at Lesmos 2. Not exactly thrilled but I figured I could get back to the front. Then someone decided to divebomb at the second chicane. I knew they were going to hit the Porsche I was following so I slowed down to avoid the mess. Well, I ended up getting held up big time and lost yet another spot. Now approaching Lesmos 2 again, I literally could not see the braking point with three cars ahead of me so I lifted early. Then I touched the throttle like a dummy thinking I backed off too early and I sent someone into the shadow realm. At the time, I thought they had braked too early and was miffed at the 5 second penalty but it was certainly deserved in retrospect. Can't remember too much after that because I was frustrated that it was unfolding as a typical Monza race. I doubt there were many happy drivers in that lobby, tbh.

@OutlawQuadrnt you’re right there were a lot of upset people. That guy you mentioned who rammed the Porsche has no business in those lobbies. He’s quick but can’t resist a late brake opportunity to stick his nose wherever he can fit it. 3rd FIA race recently where I’ve seen him knock everyone around.

I had a feeling it would be terrible, but raced anyway. Only put in about 10 laps practice with no tire wear the night before, then got stuck in traffic on the way home from work and almost missed the last slot tonight. Had one lap to warm up, and messed up both my banker and flying laps in qualy, great start already...started 16th I think it was.

Then the glitch. Stuck car on Parabolica, creates huge gap in the field and I’m in the back pack of 3.

Pretty clean first couple laps, but once in heavy traffic not only did I make mistakes and take two short rides in the sand after Lesmo 2, but was also gifted a 5s penalty for getting hit by someone whose wheel caught the dirt and spun into me heading into T4. After the race he said I squeezed him off track but I feel like I gave him a car’s width. I think we both could’ve done better. Earlier in the race I got punted into the same guy heading into Ascari. I avoided contact with him on the inside but it made it look like I divebombed him when I didn’t, so I think there was a bit of animosity in the air which may have prompted him to go for an aggressive inside pass on the next turn to take the spot back. After watching some of the replay from various peoples perspectives I see why there were so many upset people in the chat afterward.

I held 15th place for most of the race until the very end when I made up 2 more spots and finished 13th due to some penalties and some nice slipstream. Exciting finish to a very frustrating race.

Worst race of this season by far. Stupid Monza.

I did some daily races to get my new account up to A DR thinking that would be enough to race on the top tiers but I was wrong. I have to level up more to get into them. Yesterday's races were not on the top lobbies, unfortunately, cause I wanted to test my wheel skills against the best available at the moment.

Nations I opted for the Xbow that has almost no tyre wear. Qualy was good, race consistency was really good, made one mistake in the middle of the race that cost me 3.6s but in the rest of the race kept a constant pace.

For Manufacturers I had both my hotlaps attempts blocked by traffic, still managed pole but with not a good lap for my car. Race was straight forward, not taking too much risks on the chicanes to avoid penalties.

Welp, I was in the same lobby as @Lost Sheltie for Manufacturers in the Mitsubishi. Managed a decent quali lap with some drafting and started 6th. Due to some mistakes at the front I was up to 4th, really close to 3rd and then on lap 3 in Ascari I got a "Disconnected from network":mad::mad:
I thought this was a thing of the past but apparently it isn't. Anyway, lost 1200DR because of that whilst I could've gained 1200DR in that race... :ouch:

Nations was a lot better. Decided to use the X-Bow as I actually like the car and didn't want to spend almost 3mil on the Ford. Quali was good, managed to get 3rd on the grid. In the race we had an intense 3-way battle for the lead out of which I finally was able to come up on top. Maybe tire wear on the other 2 cars (Ford and S-FR) was worse than on mine...? After that I had an almost uneventful 4 laps in the lead for the win. On the penultimate lap I made a small mistake which allowed the 2nd to creep up a bit but he couldn't make a move and after a couple of corners I was too far ahead again. Good race, I always like Fuji races :dopey:

Here's my fastest lap so far for the next Nations Cup race of 55.349 with the S-FR Racing, automatic transmission and controller which as of now is the fastest in the Americas region

Is there a way to see worldwide practice rankings for FIA races?
