Don't be too nice, this is racing.

On that front - in the qualifications, having set my best lap in the first lap, I ran throughout the whole quali without pitting - just to add traffic. Some bloke caught up on me - gave him lots of space, just not the racing line, he overtok and made fastest lap at the same time... This is when you know you don't have a shot :D

Strange things have happened during manufacturer , a guy with a megane trophy start 11th on medium tires driving with pad did all the race at a good pace no pit. He did 11 laps wasting only half of is front left and all the rest was 70% to 80% and he win the race. I really don't understand , could it be a bug ??
Everybody on medium tonight was 1 stop from what i've seen so far on some others channels too.

Can you remember what sort of lap times he was doing??

I ask because in a practise lobby set to FIA settings I started last of 6 and with all due respect to the other drivers in the race I knew from spectating practise I was a good bit quicker than any of them.

As such I just followed them at start, cruising around 3-3.5 seconds of pace i knew i could do until they all pitted. When they did i had mediums tyres that were hardly touched. From there i easily got the car home without stopping. Now it was the gt86 which is good on tyres anyway. I believe the alpha and megane are also good on tyres as well.

Sounds to me like the guy in the megane was in a mismatched lobby but without knowing laptimes cant say for certain.

I one stopped on mediums in the 86 won by 7 seconds in an A/S lobby, I was the only 86, made up for the beating I took at Monza :)

The Megane Trophy has amazing tyre life, best in class. Then comes the Alfa 4c and then the Toyota GT86. Porsche Cayman used to be up there with those 3, but it got tweaked in the 1.32 update (when they also improved the tyre life on the FF cars a bit).

To counter balance their tyre wear a bit they are all slow/very slow in a straight line, but I think they will increase the tyre wear on those 3 cars before the real manufacturer season begins. It's why I haven't done another test to decide who I running for this years manufacturers, I think a gr.4 tweak will happen this month.

So entered the last Nations slot last night. Went with the NSX as I'm most comfortable with it. This time in quali I set 2 times within 0.005s of each other, the last lap had a very poor first sector which probably cost me a couple of positions but was starting midpack either way. Unfortunately the race was done for me at T1 as I was got hit off. Tbf to the guy I did leave the door open, but would've been nice of him to get through cleaner. After that it was just about keeping it on track and hoping for the best, in the end I recovered a decent amount of positions and looking at the results I think that off probably only cost me one position in the grand scheme of things.

LOL @ the Megane. At least the car is slow and will be in disadvantage in other races. Are you using pad?

Left are my tires when crossing the finishing line. Right are the tires of my opponent driving the same car (SLS), having pitted on the same lap. He had TCS on and I assume he's using wheel. I had 4 "pixels of rubber" out of 32. He had 15/32, so in the end it's almost a 4x difference.

This is the top split lobby for LATAM. No major incidents for me, no spinning, driving over dirt or anything. Actually one of my least aggressive races as I was focused on conserving tires. Also had brake bias set to 4 to the rear.

BTW, couldn't they at least turn the tire multiplier off for qualifying? What's the point of simulating major tire wear when you have 1 or 2 laps to qualify only? This was especially annoying for Catalunya, which is a long and difficult track. We should be able to push the car to the limit at least for qualifying.

I drive with G29 , my tires at the finish were like this due to the intense clean battle i've had with the porsche. We've changed the lead and after pit 2d place all along the race . It was very clean , but he had more tires & grip for the 2 last laps.
I've seen another EU race with top racers , @kie25 was there , and also a Megane trophy win with the same strategy no stop .

Something that keep my attention too is that pit time on Barcelona is really sticking to the real world time.
I've checked an F1 time just to change tires , it's around 35 seconds counting 3 sc stopped .
For a GR3 in GTSport , its around 40 seconds counting 5 sc stopped .
I'm not sure that this time is also sticking to reality on Brands Hatch for example.

The out of the pit seems faster because the car is already on the out when back to driving position . But the total time is ok on the barcelona circuit.
Sure that on an 11 laps race , this is a lot of time wasted.

I do a race simulation during qualifying to gauge how much wear the softer tyre suffers. Figure I can go about 3 laps further on the harder compound.

Have to say that I'm quite happy with my Nations result. I'm still figuring out my T-GT and this combo was definitely anything but friendly. Ran my fastest qualifying the whole weekend and while my pace was not where I wanted it, I didn't bin it as I had feared. I think using lower gears for better rotation hurt my fuel economy as others were able to rev it more than I was able to. That and I was using a lot of front brake bias for better stability.

I was initally quite optimistic that I could score great points and maybe even a rare win with Barcelona. Then came the sobering realization that no stopping was the better strat and the Subie is one of the worst cars (other than the Lancer) to even attempt it. I one stopped the first two races and I kept losing positions to those I was clearly faster than and I was not happy at all about it. I finally did a test just to see how much it would've required to attempt and I realized that even at snail speed, the advantage was there. Thin margins, though, but I decided to risk it. The sheer lengths I have to go to score any points with the Slowbaru.

From the same idiot that brought you "Throwing Away 5th Overall in 2018 Nations By Using the R92CP At Le Sarthe", we have "Lamb in a Lambo".

I was having a terrible time practicing this race, never getting to grips with the 911 (mostly because I hate the way it handles). That and I'm also pretty awful at Brands Hatch. So I did the smart thing, I thought to myself "the Huracan is a terrible car for race pace so why not take it for a couple laps" and, to my surprise, I actually had pace in it. I actually could have started pole in this race, but I got dirty air in my last qualifying lap which left me with eighth place and only forward to go from there. Pretty much everyone in front of me dropped back by sheer luck rather than me driving well, but I'm happy to have put a car that isn't the 911, let alone a Huracan, in the top 5.

Also lol my tire wear is awful.

My only highlight in Nations was seeing the French guy [who very intentionally punted me off deep into the sand early in the race ] crashing into a wall on the very next corner. Second best part was when I caught up with him 2 laps later and he spinned off again, not to be seen again.

Blocking – The leading driver is allowed to run a defensive line. However, blocking
occurs when a leading driver actively adjusts his or her driving line based on the
actions and/or positioning of a pursuing driver. For example, veering left to prevent a
pursuing driver from passing on the left while running on a straight.

Do you guys block ? Is it allowed in FIA ? Just curious

I agree that technically anything you don't get a penalty for is allowed. However I feel that the one move rule should be used by everyone (in a perfect world). I do my best to follow these guidelines while racing.

Overtaking
O-1: To obtain right of road position in a corner, the overtaker's car must have substantial overlap of the car that is being overtaken, before they reach the corner's turn-in point. Should the overtaking car not have enough overlap, the leading car may resume its racing line without fear of contact.

O-2: The car on the outside has the right to outside room all the way through the corner – right up to the exit point. That car should not be squeezed against the outside towards the exit point.

O-3: The car on the inside has the right to inside room all the way through the corner - right up to the exit point. That car should not be squeezed against the inside towards the apex area. The ahead driver can still battle for the position of course but must do so while maintaining side room for the behind driver. The practice of going up the inside of an ahead car after that car has already turned in, and where there was no established substantial overlap before the turn-in point, is sometimes referred to as barge passing, (i.e. you barge your way past). Understand that barge passing is a high risk manoeuvre for both you and others. You have no rights what-so-ever as a barge passer.

O-4: Where an ahead driver has clearly made a sufficient error to warrant a passing move, a behind driver may attack their position, with due caution and care, regardless of whether there was any pre-existing overlap. E.g. - If the ahead driver brakes too late and drifts out wide of the apex and then has to reduce speed etc. This would be a valid passing opportunity regardless of whether there was pre-existing overlap. However, there is still substantial responsibility on the overtaking driver to take all necessary care to avoid contact. Small errors by the ahead driver may not be sufficient to justify an attacking passing move however. Just because the ahead driver gets a bit out of shape at times does not give you an automatic right to pass uncontested by them or a right to room. You still have to judge if their error provides sufficient opportunity for a safe pass to take place.

O-5: Ahead drivers have the right to choose any line down a straight. The ahead driver may make one move to block the opposing car, and one move to return to the racing line before the next corner - Unless the opposing car has overlap.

O-6: Ahead drivers have the right to take any line through a corner, unless an opposing car has overlap.

I want to block that race out of my mind.

Barcelona this Saturday in the Manufacturers race has me fuming after race two with resulting 100pts.
Same driver took me off track three (3) times. (He will be publicly shamed in a separate video) 🤬
So I was desperate to get good points in the last race of the night.
It proves to be a good race ...
See the race edit for your enjoyment (with my excellent commentary) :D

Imagine you're racing at Nordschleife and manage to tailgate opponent car until the long straight, so the leading car doesnt have the right to zig zag blocking any attempt to pass him/her, just one move and return..not a consecutive moves.

But ultimately, if GT Sport doesn't give you a penalty for it, you're allowed to do it.

We're all free to drive how we want, and if you want to stick to whatever that list of rules is then good for you. Nobody else has to.

I thought there was sportmanship advice in videos we had to watch. These included overtaking and driver etiquette.

Shouldn’t GTPlanet be promoting clean fair racing?

There’s plenty of things you should be penalized for in this game that you don’t. And visa versa.

Yep.

In our events sure. We don't have any control over what happens outside those.

That's certainly an opinion you're entitled to hold, but not one that's relevant to the reality of it. If the game (or the live event stewards) decides that your actions deserve punishment, your actions were not "allowed". If it doesn't, they were.

It doesn't really matter what you or I or a random rulebook say about it. That's the reality. We can all post videos of what we think is bad driving until the next GT game comes out, but only the game's opinion matters.

I guess that I have a very “real” view on my on track behavior that has limited my progress in the game. I’m a B driver but my S Sportsman’s rating matters more to me. I try to imagine that if I bend my or my opponent’s car it’s bad.

I personally think that, if the player base can support it, the Sportsman rating should go from 99 to say 300. Spread the range, give us an A+ SR rating. It’s too easy to keep an S.

Famine I wasn’t having a go at you, I just strive to be clean and fair and treat the game like it’s real. That’s my thing and I know it’s not the normal view of a game.

Yep, and there's nothing wrong with that - I'm similarly SR S (I think 99, but I'd have to check).

As we've seen from countless threads on driving behaviour both in GT Sport and in real-world racing, different people have different opinions on what constitutes fair driving. F1 threads - usually those in which Lewis Hamilton has been involved in an incident - often descend into people quoting subsections of the FIA Sporting Code at one another, and occasionally throwing up my favourite: "spirit of the rules".

Ultimately, even in the real world, what's fair isn't in a rulebook. That's the basis, yes, but it comes down to the stewards - and it's different in different series and at different circuits. Even track limits, as defined in the sporting code "for the avoidance of doubt" as the white lines at the edge of the circuit, are not the same from track to track or from series to series. The IndyCar race from COTA last month used ridiculous track limits compared to F1 at the same track (literally no track limits at Turn 19; find a video - it's insane), but that's what the series, track officials, race director and stewards decided. That also means that it might even be different incident by incident - you'd hope not, but it sometimes is.

In our case, the rulebook is invisible and the stewards are GT Sport's contact and penalty algorithms. We can all argue ourselves inside out about weaving, blocking, cornering rights, track limits and any other topic, but if GT Sport doesn't ping you for it, you're "legal". And I'm too old to spend my evenings arguing about virtual overlap (especially when you take latency into account), so I choose not to :D

Traveling this week so I will miss the Wednesday and Saturday races!
I will have some sort of withdrawal symptoms I’m sure ...
Looking to kill it at Bathurst in the last race !! I’m very strong there in the McLaren - watch out people
