Did Nations twice. First time I messed up in both qualy and race. Second try was better, bad qualy lap still put me on pole and from there, trying to bring home the win.

Manufacturer exhibition season 2 global results are here

https://www.gran-turismo.com/au/gtsport/news/00_1269115.html
The points are all wrong. Certain manufacturers are being awarded more points from a region than others despite their driver being lower in the standings. And the points don't even match up with the table presented in the 2019 series overview. I would not treat these results as final by any means.

That's because they calculated the ranking by every single round of that season. Not by looking at the finishing ranking...

Well my spreadsheet needs some adjusting, gonna have to re-interpret how they calculated this one.

First attempt at nations was a disaster. Was top rated driver in lobby, qualified 6 which was ok. Qualifying never been a strength plus messed up timing for last run...doh.

Strat was hard tyres but I'd practised hard and knew I could lap in the 2.02s the whole race if I treated the first few laps extremely gently which ment I'd be very strong 2nd half of race versus other no stoppers.

So I knew I'd be under pressure first lap or so but the mental move the Spaniard behind tried to make into degner 1 is prob the worst iv ever had put on me!!! I ended up so far in the gravel I couldn't get out and my anger clearly wasnt helping at this point. By time I was out via a couple 360s in the sand I was 45 secs down on leader....race proper ruined.

2nd try I redeemed myself. Rated 12th in lobby and took 3rd after qualifying 7th. Went same no stop strat but on mediums this time. Got bit of luck in that an incident behind gave me a cushion of 3-4 secs on lap 1 so I could proper nurse the tyres early in race.

As race worn on I picked of 2 drivers with overtakes, 1 being a bit hairy into turn 1 on last lap when I was just taking a look but not going to pass but they broke very early so it became a bit of a dive. Kudos to the German driver who seen it and gave me space. 2 other spots gained to mistakes and 1 more lap I'd have had 2nd....leader was gone.

Checking the replay I had twice as much tyres as any other no stopper particularly on the rear so its clear the benefits of looking after the tyres as I was so much quicker than any of the other no stoppers last 3 laps.

Even so, there must be a mistake. On Hyundai, for example, even if it is per round, there's no way the Central & South American representative was the highest scorer. The manufacturer alone was one of the last here.

Can someone break those numbers down? I have no idea how they achieved those results.

working on it
initial investigation looks like the 40, 36, 33, etc. scale is being applied to every single round

Next ten rounds of Nations are on the website

N300 at Tokyo Expressway
Gr.1 at Lago Maggiore
Gr.2 at Fuji
Gr.X at Catalunya (The Merc F1, I assume)
Gr.3 at Bathurst
One make at Tsukuba
One make at Blue Moon Bay
Gr.1 at Tokyo Expressway
Gr.3 at Monza
N500 at Kyoto

My apologies if these are in-game already and with actual details.

Maybe they are counting ALL points for the manufacturers drivers and adding up for each round?

Even if they're using that, still doesnt explain some numbers.

Edit: I think I found the first mistake. Apart from some other issues, the biggest one for me is that it looks like PD got the Americas mistaken. NA and LATAM are in each others place.

This mistake corrected alone would make the table make a lot more sense, but it doesnt fix everything.

The way the points system is heavily biased in favour of the smaller regions is hilarious. 9 Oceania qualifiers for Nurburgring and only 6 for EMEA and Asia

Much easier to rack up points when the depth of competition in other Manufacturers is just not there.

This table is 100% wrong tho

Latam representative for Alfa Romeo made 198 points accordingly to PD, and look what their drivers did here:

only one driver really competing and him alone made Alfa one of the last manufacturers here.

That as well as how they've separated Chevrolet between Asia and Europe for 3rd. I don't know how Asia can have more affiliated contracts than EMEA considering the playerbase difference, and Matty scored 200 more points as well. I know it's a running meme him failing to qualify for World Tours but on this occasion he really has been robbed it seems.

SteveGaming should be there as well, he made Jag 3rd and is not in the top 3 of Jag, which should be Me (2nd overall in Latam), him (3rd overall in EMEA) and AE_Kenomos (4th overall in Oceania) but somehow the NA representative made 267 points for being 9th. I dont get it.

Don't forget legacy who also did amazingly well with the jag

OK that outlier looks like they made a big mistake, maybe I shouldn't go so hard at my spreadsheet

Looks like they didn't program the tiebreaker properly, or they are just going to manually invite the correct person first

Well what can I say...

First of all I can't even match the points being given on the tables for EMEA Porsche. I'm at 257 they have them at 275 so it can't be that I've missed a result as mine is actually lower than theirs.

Before I start I've been competing in all sorts of eSports for a long time, Warcraft 3, Starcraft 2, WoW, PCars 2 and of course GT.

But seriously what on earth is this system.. I'm at the point (Even though I've qualified) where I'm pretty much done... I may still finish this year out just for giggles and enjoyment but we seem to be in some silly cycle of: More tyre wear, strange structure, even more tyre wear, make it even stranger. BoP is all over the place because of the larger tyre wear multipliers as you literally can't balance x25 tyre wear across all tracks, literally impossible.

I mean don't get me wrong which ever system they pick at least 1 region was going to lose out, but logic dictates that shouldn't be the one with the largest player base (By an extremely large margin) and where if you are not in the meta car you are no way guaranteed even a top 10 spot. But the way I saw just the totalled points system for example at least that meant the regions with a larger skill split gap in the top lobby would mean the top players in that region could pick lesser manufacturers and still do well. So the perfect example is Adam in Oceania, who picked Ford, did amazingly well with it and has qualified with Ford, even with the total points system Ford qualified, and the Oceania driver goes (If they used total points).

Now even with the points system they still qualify (You could argue this was slightly fairer and certainly has a broader range of nationalities and actually allows someone to really pull a manufacturer up, e.g. Adam);

upload_2019-4-28_13-6-44.png

All I see with this current system is;
  • is that EMEA may as well not bother unless you're in the META car
  • tanking DR is going to be the norm because even split 3 will be positively good at this moment in time
  • Top 16 race is now officially THE worst race you can probably enter in EMEA manufacturer series if you're not in the META car.

Anyway that's my 2p on all this... Hopefully it changes otherwise I'm not competing next year as I'm not wasting my time (The most valuable thing anyone actually owns) with these sets of rules.

P.S. some of these screenshots may be off by a point or 2 if I've missed anything I did them the day after the end of the season and haven't checked them since, so these are for demonstration purposes.

What Polyphony is doing is beyond stupid and could be taken as an active desire to screw up their biggest and most loyal player base, and / or shows a complete lack of understanding on how you run an online competition. The simple fact they decide to use this way of qsualifying after the season is done and after telling drivers only their 3 best results mattered shows an alarming lack of professionalism. I've ran and raced amateur leagues that were miles above that. EVERYTHING Polyphony has done since last year goes against the recommandations that's been given to them, and have made things worse.

Points scored by races would basically mean that CSA and Oceania regions would non exist.

Look at the first table provided by @Tidgney. Out of 36 spots, only 3 would go for these regions. That would be a joke.

On the second system, EMEA would have 10, CSA 8, Oceania 7, NA 6 and Asia 5 spots.

Not perfect, but surely fairer. Remember that Europe and Asia have more Nations spots.

I'll add that by saying that PD should use the feedback from the top guys or give up trying and hand it over to the FIA themselves!

I'll be gunning for the top spot in Aston Martin this time around. I finished the last Manu exhibition season in 21st just behind the top Aston driver in NA so I think I've got a fair shot. That being said, the top Aston driver in C&SA narrowly beat out NA's top Aston driver in points, with EMEA & Asia doing even better, so I'll bet it's going to be a major challenge staying in the top 3 regions. It should be interesting to see how I measure up.

Spent almost the whole day yesterday testing different cars and both Vantages felt surprisinngly comfortable; I found myself setting quick and consistent lap times even with tire wear at x2. The tire life of the Vantages, while slightly better than the Supra I drove in the 2019 exhibition, was a bit worse than most other cars I tested, but based on my pace in the car, and the results that the top Aston driver was getting last season, I'm confident I can do as good of a job as I've been doing in the top splits, if not better.

I've also got some really good-looking liveries for both Vantages, courtesy of @Azabear6. Looking forward to the season as always, hope to have some more clean and fun races with you NA guys on the track.

Good luck mate.

@HellzFire Core issue is that good drivers, no matter where they are, are being screwed regardless of how you try to work out the system. Even with 10 spots EMEA drivers are still being screwed. The simple fact we have regions with such a difference in terms of playerbase is a complete nonsense. Either group them back to 3, or divide at least EMEA into several ones.

@RZQSPEED Exactly. Well, FIA doesn't organize leagues, they sanction them. But hiring an external partner to take care of that side would be a good idea. That's actually what Kunos have done for Assetto Competizione, they actually put SRO in charge of their esport competition. As for the feedback from top players, they keep doing the exact opposite. There will still be more feedback sent to them, under the form of a detailed new format they could use.

Yeah, I agree that EMEA has the biggest amount of good drivers, but you would (should) still get all of your 12 spots for manufacturers with their system. I would also prefer the regions to be put back together.

Dont underestimate CSA and Oceania tho. Last 2 nations cup winners ara CSA drivers and Oceania had one driver in the podium. Sure we have a lower player base, but when every top driver competes for real, it's also a struggle to qualify in any region.

That's what I mean, those regions still have incredible drivers who 100% deserve to qualify. But in the current system, it's either you get ultra harsh quotas and screw some top drivers, or you ease them off and some regions have people who would get wrecked in EMEA while some top EMEA guys are still left out. At this point I think the regional finals were better because at least most of the top players could get to access a live event. Ideal thing would be to do a mixed system, when you first qualify for a final regional draw, and the regionals draws then get their own qualifying season, kinda like the chase in NASCAR. This would be more complicated to run though, but I'm sure something could be figured out, either online or live (even if that means less coverage for that stage and hotels which are not 5 stars).

I nailed the system. this is Jaguar for CSA region
Screenshot_20190428-105538.png

Each round is a new ranking. In round 1, Jaguar had the highest points, so they're first and get 40 points.

Second round jag had the 4th highest score of the round, 30 points. And so on.

This also confirms that PD inverted NA and CSA in the table.
