Not sure if it was just me or the whole room, but I got booted from Nations waiting for qualifier to start. Hopefully Manufacturers goes better.

it will probably be ok, but you won't be able to qualify. Just wait it out. Once the introduction music and all that jazz starts to play, it should be ok.

I had one of those last week, black screen, internet went to one red bar but I waited, started 20th with no qualy.

Should be fine just don't leave the pit to qualify. Restart PS4 after race that seemed to get rid of the issue when I had it. I think clicking car settings before doing something else caused the glitch for me.

Race worked ok. That said starting without quali from 20th is not optimal. Took the no stop strategy to just hang in there and wait for someone to mess up. Was able to salvage 17th place..

Btw it was nice to drive last two laps with right front tire at 0%..

Tried to do an FIA Manufacturer race just now...

I was on the low-end of A drivers due to some rocky daily races last week. As a result I was in a race with only 4 A drivers and 16 B drivers.

My PS4 crashed in the middle of qualifying. Result: lost just under 3000 DR, and I'm officially a B driver again.

Nissan isn't ideal for today's MFG but I got a best case scenario, was the top driver in the 2nd or maybe 3rd lobby back. Qualified 4th, was up to 2nd for a bit and finished 3rd. 1650pts.

For some reason my internet was pretty bad tonight so the stream is pixelated. Way off my usual 1080p60 not sure why.

Where to begin... I decided to do the FIA Manu race because I got out of class earlier than expected. Qualifying went well until I bottled the final corner, taking away any hope of jumping 5 spots, so I started P18. Race was going great as I was passing people up front making bad errors and getting ahead of cars via undercut. Then this happened and I don't have any words. Apparently this isn't the first time this has happened according to @Winnie847.


Seriously though, what the hell's the point of doing these races when the penalty system is still broken? This was in a mostly A+ lobby.

Where to begin... I decided to do the FIA Manu race because I got out of class earlier than expected. Sorry that happened to you bud. We were battling pretty hard, and him and I have a history from a previous race at Bathurst where he punted me, got a penalty, then blamed me for braking early. Later that lap he brake checked me down the hill and purposefully gave me a penalty by driving off track. A friend showed me a replay from the same night where he did the exact same thing to him in the exact same spot. It seems like he races enraged at his own mistakes and judgment calls then takes it out on others.

Early in tonight’s race he had a very dirty battle with another guy. That guy ended up wrecking him, who then crashed into me as I was passing so I got the 5s penalty and went from 4th or 5th to 15th. It wasn’t really his fault but he was engaging in a dirty back and forth initiated by the other guy so it didn’t surprise me when they wrecked each other. I’m sure he was pretty pissed after that. I think he was trying to outbrake me there in your clip and totally blew it, can’t remember for sure what happened. Nice racing with you nonetheless, just wish we both would have had a better result.

I really wanted to make the Xbow work for Nations, and in a CSA server it was possible, but I needed a massive draft lap in qualy, which I didnt get in first slot. Started 11th, was gaining positions until I got a 5s pen for a slight contact which ended my race. Since the Xbow was miles faster thru the esses, I bumped slightly a lot of cars a lot of times there, my SR went to 72! I went down to SR A after one race, so automatically was out of Manufacturers Slot 1 as well. Recovered my SR and was able to do Nations again (video below). Qualy didnt work, only started in 8th, but this time, got a much cleaner race and better result.




Did manu twice. The first slot was just to get my SR back to 99, which I did. Second one is the video below. Okish qualy lap that put me in 3rd in the grid. The race went well, but when I overtook the Lexus, it was all about defending.

Mixed results from Wednesday's races:





Nations: Pretty good race. Qualified well and finished well. Wished to have finished better, but someone had a slightly better strategy so no undercut for me. Was fun flying through the chicane in the BMW.

Manufacterers: Just not great. Throw in massive tire wear at a Track I already have bad luck at and I never had a chance.

Long story short, I may be the only one the world that actually likes the Pug VGT. It's almost like someone made the car for my driving style. Got qualifying spot-on and finished 6th in a top split lobby at a combo which I have always been terrible at. Compared to my old Jag, I am far more competitive which is a surprise to say.

Obviously, I put myself at a major disadvantage since I figured not many would even touch the Pug. Well, it's not fatal since it's exhibition and I suspect a few stragglers are waiting until the offcial season. That said, what is with Oceania? Are you telling me absolutely no one drove the Pug? I mean, I can't even comprehend that!

Manufacturers
After much internal debate decided to move away from Ford and sign with Mercedes. From the limited testing I did the Merc's feel similar to the Mustangs, just with better cornering ability. No idea how fuel consumption or tyre wear compare though.

Anyway, DR has been dropping recently so ended up in a weaker lobby (around 1000 points for the win) and was still seeded 18th! For probably the first time ever managed to hook up a decent qualifying lap and started P2
The race was pretty uneventful with the just the mixed strategies making for interesting moments. Only a handful of us went for the 3/4 split with most people going for 4/3 and one random doing a 5/2
The only incident of the race was just after coming out of the pits I get a run on someone who hadn't pitted coming out of turn 1. I edge ahead going into the esses at which point the ONLY other Merc in the race decides to turn in on me as if I wasn't there. We both just about keep control but I'm like 'c'mon man we're on the same team'. Maybe he was pissed because he realised he'd picked the older not as fast AMG.
Anyway, it finally happened. I picked up an FIA podium place FINALLY

Nations
Had no plans to enter this and as such had no idea about car or strategy. I literally looked at the practice time leaderboard, watched one lap, picked the M4 and entered the race! Had to work out a strategy during my qualifying laps and from the snippets I'd seen on here.
I was seeded 5th for this one but qualified 18th. Went for a no-stop strategy so spent a great deal of time messing with the fuel map and drafting as much as possible. It was a messy race around me but I managed to keep my nose clean. I've no idea if stopping for fuel would have been quicker (it may have been) but I managed to finish 9th, helped by two people running out of fuel before the finish line.
Quite a fun race really considering the lack of preparation. Someone even apologised to me in the chat but I couldn't for the life of me work out why!

Kind of Disappointed with both of my results. Nations Cup no stopper worked, but lost a lot of time in the final laps. I would've been faster during the race, if I would've taken the KTM. Constantly at the same pace as everyone else but with fuel mapping 4 - 6. Started 2nd, finished 2nd because the BMW wasn't very happy with the fuel.

Manufacturer was okay, started 2nd in the Subaru and finished 4th, whereas my Subaru Teammate finished 17th.

I think with the way Manu is set up and its points system it'll be harder for us second-tier drivers (fast, but non-alien guys like you and me) to really accomplish anything compared to last year. And now only 12 manufacturers are eligible instead of 16.

I have a realistic shot of #1 for Ferrari in CSA region but if I'm only getting 1000-1500 points per race I'm not contributing enough to put Ferrari in the top 12 worldwide.

So I've stopped worrying about how to find a backdoor entry into these live events. My goal is #1 for Ferrari and if I pull it off that will be a huge personal accomplishment in its own right. Any other perks would just be icing on the cake.

I thought top 10 would be a pretty do-able goal for me with VW based on the exibition seasons, but then I had a look at the standings today and there are some good names in there. Not to mention our reigning champion @KONTRAone has yet to make his appearance, unless by some miracle he switched his loyalties

As for my race, I won!

I honestly probably haven't won an FIA race in like a year. Every time I'd get pole it get so nervous I'd bottle T1, I managed to control my nerves this time though. The guy who got P2 started the race on hards, I figured as much when i stated to pull seconds ahead of him every half lap and i confirmed on the replay after. So I figured he was going for the no stop. But when I jump in the pits after lap 4 he comes in behind me along with the rest of the field bar one guy.

I came out ahead of that one guy so 2nd stint I was gone and it was race over. My big fear was that I'd come out of the pits behind some no stoppers and wind up getting punted by one of them cause you know, B lobbies. After I saw the train go into the pits after me my heartrate probably decreased back to normal resting levels and it was smooth sailing till the end of the race.

My first race after losing my S rating and it's a win, I swear that S rating was cursed, lost about 8000 DR with it.

Only did the manufacturers race. Signed for Toyota again.

Seeded 13th and took provisional pole but messed up low fuel run and started 5th. Shame as pole was def on.

First stint was pretty busy with lots of battling between the top 7 and a couple of offs amongst us(not me) pitted lap 3 from 4th and came out right behind 3rd however we came out surrounded by cars yet to stop.

Unfortunately a Ferrari lost it in the Esses and off course I was the one he collected, it only cost me 2.5 seconds and 1 position, plus front end damage but it would to prove quite costly in the end.

Anyway come the last lap I'm back to 4th courtesy of the leader binning it and on the tail of 2nd/3rd and the leader is only 2.8 seconds up road.

I'm catching fast but a lexus behind is catching us all even quicker, I yield hoping they can cause probs for 2nd and 3rd that I can capitalize on but all 4 cars cross line nose to tail and after an eventful race of close and fair fighting I finish where I started.

The lexus drove a great race. Started 12th on hards, did 4 laps then 3 on meds and was 1 corner short of taking 2nd.

I think without the Ferrari incident I could have won but i was relatively happy with 1450 points i got so never entered next race

I’ve just recently felt enough confidence and skill to take on the FIA races. I’ve enjoyed the format and have steadily improved lately. I just had time to take on Nations last night where I qualified 10th and finished 8th which was a decent result for this middling driver. The Greddy Fugu was a good enough car but I see I’m going to have to spend a little more time researching different car options.

I love the qualifying format with its new challenges of track position and tire wear! Very immersive and immediate.

I know this is old hat for a lot of you but this is still fresh and new for me.

I got pole with my banker lap even though I messed up the low fuel lap. At first I couldn't believe it. Then I watched some streams and in every single one of them there was a Toyota on P1 or P2. Its unbelievable how OP that car is at this track.

Decided to give the Porsche a go in the Nations, qualifying wasn't great, 2s off the pace and starting near the back. Start was even worse and I was last by the end of the first lap. Went with the no stop, but I'm not best in keeping pace when I had to save fuel to this extent. Gained positions mainly through others misfortune.


In the manufacturers, I managed a lap that was more than a second quicker than I was doing in the lobbies and that put me relatively high up the grid. Got lucky that the driver behind started on hards, creating a train and allowing us front guys to pull away. I wasn't quick enough with the drivers in front so nothing much happened other than some overtakes on my out lap. In the end, a decent result given my pace in the race.

You're right. I hadn't though of cannibalization within manufacturers, where you have half of them full of aliens and the other half with non-aliens. Either way, me being a mid-A driver I'm sure my points total would put me as the #5 Ferrari driver (assuming I even manage to top the CSA region), which would be the second reserve driver. That's the exact same situation I was in last year when I finished 3rd for Subaru in the old unified Americas region.

To be honest, after watching you and the other top drivers duke it out in the live streams with top-notch racing it's probably better that I am never invited to a live event. I am a consistent one to two seconds off the alien times and I would probably just pull the team down. I would be out of my league. Regardless, I will try my hardest and enjoy myself while doing it. I really enjoy the FIA championships. It's the kind of online racing I have been dreaming about ever since getting hooked racing online with Superstars V8 on the PS3. I even won a copy of GT5 from Milestone for winning their rudimentary "eSports" competition. After that I thought I was good but now there are so many people playing and the bar is set so high that I have been put in my place .

I will, however, keep up my hopes for a Masters Invitational for 40+ year old players. That would be really cool and it would be interesting to put my skills to the test with others who started gaming around the time the Atari 2600 came out.

Boy, gaming sure has come a long way since Pole Position!

I put in an hour of Nations practice tonight. Problem is, I still haven't been in an FIA race, so I don't know how I stack up. Assuming I'm in 3rd-4th (?) split (53853 DR), is a 1:38.125 good pace? It's just under 1.5s slower than the current #1.

OMG thank you so much, I've been trying to analyse all the info on my own spreadsheets but this will be a great addition. I'm now 50-50 between Aston and Chevy and still can't decide. Still open to others though if I find a dark horse. Would've considered to join you in Peugeot but no one else picked it here so no Manu points for round 1. I am really surprised no one in Oceania went the PUG, not even for a laugh.
