Finally signed for Aston again, let's do this @GumballCGT and @Aderrrm, sorry for sacrificing round 1 for recon, just had to be sure.

As for tonight, had to do 6 races, full of retries only getting satisfactory points from the weaker last time slot. All of a sudden everyone is extra serious in FIA, a few incidents, things said in chat, and a few new fast guys threatening my overall top 10 position. It gonna be a long rest of the season for me...

...But I don't see how that was a dirty move on my part. I clearly telegraphed that I was going to go up the inside, and he closed the door on me as I was entering it, squeezing me onto the curb resulting in the contact. Considering that, I think that my move was fair. Feel free to let me know what you think.
You had no overlap at the point of turn in, so the apex should have been his. What you did is common in the game, certainly, but isn't a legal overtake AFAIA by the general conventions of real world FIA racing. I haven't watched much F1 for quite a few years now, but many years ago, the convention as I understood it was that you must have your front wheels past the rear wheels of the car you're trying to overtake, by the time they turn in. Any less than that and it's your responsibility to drop back behind the other car.

Complete GT Sport FIA race noob question here, but is there any way to run a practice race against AI with everything set exactly as it will be during the real race? I just tried setting up a custom race but I could only set 10x tyre wear, whereas the real race is 17x. It would be really helpful if the game just had a simple "Practice Race" button alongside "Free Practice" etc, that let you do a race against AI that is exactly the same settings as the real race.

The best thing to do is find an FIA practice lobby and practice there with real people. Good luck!

Looked to me like you partialy used the other driver as a driving aid . On the third person view it shows your front wheels turning towards the other driver it looks like .
I only turned left a little bit as I was braking to try and set myself up better for the corner- I had no intention of using the other driver as a brake. I kept the front wheels turned right all throughout the corner.

That's a fair point. It's true that I was still well behind the Honda driver entering the braking zone, and even entering the corner I was only just on the edge of his rear bumper. In the moment, I just wanted to make the pass on him while my tires were still relatively fresh, but in retrospect I might've been able to make a smoother pass on him later on in the race when I got some overlap on him. The Aston's got the speed to get side-by-side with someone on a straight, so I'll keep that in mind for the future.

Also, no, sadly, you can't set the tires or fuel to anything higher than 10x in Custom Race. You have to either join or create a lobby that replicates the settings of the race. If I remember correctly, this wasn't an issue last year because the tire wear and fuel consumption rates were in the single digits, so that would be another reason to reduce the tire wear rates.

Nations: Q6 --> R7 (1398 pts). Strategy: 4M/5M with refuelling. Insane that I was super fast with this combo in particular. Also MiorHafiz is insane doing a no-stop in one of the 919s. I decided to not use my GTPlanet livery and instead used @BLiTZ's ECR x Gulf livery...and my original plan was to use the Alpine VGT with a livery made by @MrWaflz55!

Manufacturers: Q18 --> R13 (727 pts). Strategy: 6M&S/5S&S. This one on the other hand went downhill after setting a 1:36.6 here in the FT-1 during Free Practice. The race itself only saw me taking advantage of quitters and even shoving an insane undercutter in the Aston out of the way, albeit not enough to cause a penalty.

2 days preparing and testing for nation GR1 , nice qualification in 4th place ready to launch and DISCONNECTED FROM NETWORK just a few seconds from the start of the only unique slot i will be able to race today. Really annoying .:ouch::mad::mad::irked::indiff:👎👎🤬:banghead::banghead:

My very first FIA race went well! Qualified 4th in the Audi in a 2300pt lobby, went up to 3rd on lap 2. I pitted on lap 5 and the no stoppers got ahead. One of them managed to finish second. I was running 4th again on lap 8 until I got a 5s contact penalty. That dropped me to 9th in the next penalty zone and I put in a killer second half of the final lap to recover to 6th! I bagged 1697 points and am looking forward to the next two timeslots :D

Keep in mind you only bag the points from your last attempt for a round, even if you scored more in an earlier attempt.

I'm aware, I just decided I'd do as much racing as possible because my PS+ is about to expire anyway. :)

Manu, qualified 3rd place and decided to go 1 stop Softs.
Messed up at start so lost 2 places slowly. Then got lucky and 2nd place binned on 4th lap.
Pitted end of 5th lap, managed to reach 2nd place at end of race. 1st place was a Supra with Mediums but for him it was ok since he started ahead so he could do a bit more mistakes (and he did but with the car and my tyres, i really couldn't capitalize much)

They were not kidding.... using controller is so much worse for tyres, my fronts were dead after 10th lap. At least i'll enjoy this 2nd place!

2200 race: Qualified 14th in a 2354 point lobby. I had a great start, gaining 7 positions in two laps and was 2nd by the time I stopped on lap 5. The pitstop dropped me all the way to dead last  Fortunately, I was able to pass 11 people in the second half of the race to finish 9th.

0000 race: 2301 point lobby. Q lap was going well until it was compromised by someone burning fuel on the racing line, so it was only good enough for 13th :indiff: The race itself was a carbon copy of the previous one until lap 3. I was passing people left and right and had worked my way up to 6th, when the guy behind me pulled a PIT :ouch: Probably not on purpose, but it ruined my race. Back to square one. The pitstop dropped me to 16th out of 17 and I recovered to 11th. Had I not been screwed over, I would have finished 4th :(

In hindsight, I probably picked the wrong car for the race. I was really fast in the R18, just half a second slower than the #1 time in EMEA in fact, but in the race it was underwhelming. The hybrid battery was just running out way too quickly and fuel consumption wasn't good enough. I did enjoy slicing through the pack though. I think I could have been in contention for a podium or even a win if I had practiced with the 919 or 908.

Overall it was good fun! I don't really care about the fact that I lost points by rejoining after finishing 6th, because this was my last chance to race FIA until the end of June. I figured I'd give it a try to see what the racing is like and I was not disappointed. Clean (mostly), fast and hard. :D

Also, I was 18th, 20th and 17th seed in my lobbies, so my 6th, 9th and 11th place finishes still got me a total of over 1000 DR to bring me to 54884. :)

Missing it again due to explosive rear end issues. Ive had no luck being around to take part in these, not that Britain or Toyota needs my d rank ass

That sucks! Had this same issue about a month ago, internet working fine but my connection to the game started on one bar and went south, and that was the last time slot of the day. There's always next week though 👍

Fuel mix a bit too rich is it?

Nations: tried to go with a no-stopper, didn’t work and gave that up with 3 or 4 laps to go, after a stupid spin on a fight for p2. Went to the softest tyre and leanest mix and surprisingly, clawed back to 3rd

Manu: terrible race for the Lexus, as expected. Tyre life was a nightmare and doing 5-6 laps on the hards was an ordeal to say the least.
My 2 qualy laps were interrupted by other drivers. Started 16th, finished 16th after a 6H, 5H strategy

Eventually managed to grab a 6th place in both nations and manufactures cups.

1st attempt nations. No stop in Toyota, went well till last hundred metres when ran out of fuel which cost me 3 places.

1st attempt Manu. Qualified 10th, tried starting on mediums but just got pushed and battered out the way before being spun at last corner lap 3. 2nd stint on softs I was very quick but too far behind after spin to mean much. Finished 14th I think.

2nd Nations attempt(3rd slot) went in the tomahawk for the giggles. Pulled out a stunning lap to take 4th. Race was messy because the tomahawks fast but not in same places as the hybrids. Even so some of the ridiculous overtake attempts from them in 150mph corners was just stupid. Finished 6th after a stressful 9 laps saving fuel and looking out for dive bombing hybrids.

2nd attempt manu. Good quali, 6th. Race ruined lap 2 by dive bombing brain dead idiots. Kind of recovered into top 10 only to become victim once again of said brain dead idiots.

3rd attempt manu. Poor qualifying in 12th. Actually had relatively speaking an uneventful race and finished 6th, not to say didn't see some shocking driving just wasnt the victim of it this time. Must say though I hate Fuji to race on. First corner, chicane and last 2 corners, you spend more time looking at the radar than the track, it's just bump passes heaven!!!

I entered my first fia, which was nations. Tried to no stop but ran light on fuel in the Peugeot. I ran qual and started on hard tires in last.
All was going well until I realized I couldn’t make it so I stopped and went on med.
Ended up picking up five spots, but should have been seven total, lost two when a guy was trying to block on last corner and when I crossed over sideswiped me, allowing the guy behind me to pass me but just.
I just went mellow on hares, because I was unsure what to expect. Pace was good, On hard I was able to overtake a couple on med.
Shoulda could woulda ran medium. Ended up losing about 600 dr.
Very cool to have an all A room, I will be doing more when the combos suit me.
Matchmaking in FIA is pretty nice...

Last race. Started 3rd. Coming out of t2 my car got possessed going on 2ND gear. Couldn't move in time and made 2ND spin. I didn't even get sr down. Nothing. Fast forward to the last lap. The guy I hit earlier is 3rd some 5 seconds from me. I decided to let him through. 900 points ain't bad considering I didn't practice this race. Still managed to get 46th fastest lap in the region lol

Ohhhhhh man, the servers did me dirty tonight.

Got a solid 7th place finish (1947 points) on my first attempt and had some intense but respectable battles with quite a few good drivers. I decided to go again to score more points and catch up to Gumball, but the servers clocked out on me halfway through the race, and then the servers clocked out again during the last 30 seconds before entering my 3rd attempt, meaning I couldn't re-enter.

So that's 0 points to my name at a track that the Aston was supposed to be good at. Guess that's what I get for being too greedy, but I'm annoyed nonetheless. 👎

Good result in CSA region with the Ferrari. 1209 pts with the Gr. 3 Ferrari at Fuji feels like a victory.

There were a couple rotten apples in there.

@praiano63 I think this is the first time I have ever raced with you. (I'm IRT_Pfeife). Sorry for the love taps the first couple laps. Congrats on the win. ¿Did you no-stop? I was surprised that we started together yet you won by 20s. Good job!

Any decent points feels like a win in the Ferrari, but watching some replays afterwards, I feel the Ferrari could do much better even in its current state, the car has more speed than I'm currently giving it, that's for sure. Red Bull Ring should be good for us! Good luck

I agree 100%. The Gr. 3 Ferrari is a beast. Always some more speed in there, but, do we dare attempt to unleash it? :scared:

Thanks , sure it was a nice race , i did one stop racing soft 6 laps + again racing soft 5 laps. I 've managed the tires all first part of the race and did fast laps the last 5 . I had a 1:38.5 in lap 8.
Porsche is so good on tires when driven smoothly.
No problem , the bump it did not mess my line. Good race congrats

Big day today. At Nations first slot, did a decent qualify on a very strong lobby, starting in third. Went up to second on lap 1 til one idiot spun me off on the hairpin and I end up last. The most frustrating thing was that the room was worth big points and the leader was on the 919 against my Pug, he would struggle a lot to keep the lead against me. Quit the race to practice for manufacturers. Second slot (video below) I made pole with an horrible lap and managed the race well, decent pace.

Manu also did twice. First room was stacked. Bad qualy, ok race to finish 5th, which isnt good enough if I want to help to bring jag to the top 12. Tried again on second slot (video below). Qualy was also bad, but the race went perfectly. Big big points for the Jaguar.
