A pretty successful weekend on all fronts! I've said before that I struggle to be competitive at Willow Springs, despite enjoying the track a lot. So I wasn't quite prepared to see my name at the top of the list for my Nations Race, nor my final placing in 2nd. It wasn't all plain sailing; I only ended up qualifying 8th, but this turned out to be a blessing in disguise. The first lap saw the seven drivers in front of me duke it out at every corner, bumping each other off their lines and into the dirt, their constant fighting slowing their progress and allowing me to swoop in for 2nd.

Next up was Manufacturers, and all my practice seemed to pay off - I took pole in about the first 3 laps of qualifying, then just cruised around. Sadly the race itself proved to be not quite as smooth sailing, I misjudged a corner and let the driver behind me go by on about the second lap. I managed to hang on to second for almost the entire race, but having been extremely hard on the tires, I was eventually driving on what felt like bare canvas. I span out on the final lap coming down the hill from the S-curves towards the big hook turn, and found myself in 3rd. But given I haven't been on the podium at all this season, two podiums, a pole position and two personal best scores in one day was a fantastic result!

My races from tonight. Had a blast, especially after a very rough race in the Ferrari at the Manu Cup.

Big wins from NZ tonight in Oceania region! DoubleH (Audi) and Sidawg (Toyota) taking a Manu Race each and I claimed another Willow Springs victory in the Nations Cup.

Awesome videos once more, Lion!

I had decided not to race Manu with the Lambo tonight, now I'm even reconsidering it.

Congrats on the win in Nations :)

Thats a lot to ask mate, ive not even had a chance to practice for this yet. What is speed with out control eh! i will be doing the 6pm and then see what happens points wise. I dont want a re-run of the last willow springs we met in :-D
Great move at the start by you to get into 1st place, and I thought we were going to make it a Brit 1-2-3 until you ran wide on your bogey bend again! I'll settle for 2nd in my first FIA A/S lobby, 1293 is my best ever points haul.

My Civic race was reasonable, but would have been better had I not caught up with two idiots who were insisting on barging each other out of the way and then swerving around so they didn't lose position. Although that seemed to be the case throughout the grid. Podium finish in a mainly A/S lobby (after not terrible but not great 3.6 Roentgen 10th place in the Supra-shall-I-fuel-save-or-smash-it Cup).

McLaren F1 at Maggiore Reverse next. Lollerskates.

As soon as I got the inside I wasn't giving it up, but hey it's a 7 lap race. Well done on the 2nd place mate! Looked like some intense racing behind me looks like I'm racing at 8pm then

A sub-12 minute FIA race (for the aliens it will be, I assume) is an embarrassment.

Ed - I miscalculated. 11:29! 10 minute qualifying for an 11 minute race!

I see u were in my race, what a mess of a race.. some dude wasn't for giving his place up..pushed me off then hit the car in front off...and don't talk to me about about the final corner

F1 GTR was basically useless in the Manu race qualifying and finishing in p17 with slowest lap :banghead:🤬:grumpy:

I think i was in the same race as you. Were you in a black F1 with a large british flag on the side of the car or was that someone else?

ah right, because they also finished towards the back of the grid. Im guessing the F1 GTR isn't the best car to drive. It's also pretty rare to see someone using the F1 GTR.
It needs straights. I finished 14th in mine, and that was only because I didn't crash and five other people did.

Ah! Uncle Baz! What was it you lost, 4 or 5 places? A similar thing happened at Willow Springs in the Supra Cup last week. I was following two people into the last corner who were side by side and, of course, one went off. I've managed to stay out of trouble there recently, I think I'm more surprised than relieved.

It's very fast in a straight line do tends to be competitive at power circuits, not handling ones like maggiore

That's me, spinning down the straight! It was just a horrid race stuck in traffic. But it's part of the game. Eventually got the win..roll on Barcelona.. see u there

I feel like Willow is paying me back for all the good races I’ve had there over the last few years. The last about 5 races there I’ve been utter garbage and usually end up flying off track somewhere. Tonight was no different. Was in position to finish somewhere between 6th-10th in the top split but went off and ended up 17th.

Not a great track choice (as is almost always the case with road car sport mode races) for the Civic. But I guess it beats the inevitable alternative of Tsukuba.

I thought it was alright? A bit sketchy towards the end after no pit stop, hence the spin out and falling to third on the final lap, maybe it just suits my driving style. I did notice there was quite a gap between me in 3rd and the next F1 GTR in about 8th or 9th, and I think last place was also an F1. I'm sure I'd have done even better in the Viper GT3 as I did in the previous Maggiore GT3 race (Daily Race?), but I found the F1 to be on par. What settings were you running? I used a -3 brake bias and TC on 2, shifting to a +2 brake bias later in the race, and I was driving with a controller.

I guess the problem with the manufacturer series is if you don't like the car you signed with, you're stuck with it, regardless of if the manufacturer has another car in that class. I learnt that the hard way with Mercedes; I wanted the AMG GTR but I already owned one, so I chose the SLS so as not to have a duplicate car in my garage, only to find out if you don't sign up with it you can't race it. Funnily enough though I found the SLS to be a much better car than the AMG GT, but I'm guessing you'd much rather be in the McLaren 650?

-2 BB and really regret choosing McLaren now, lack of practice didn't help tbh, gr4 car is all right though. F1. Is a one trick pony with its ballistic straight line speed though which is useful for defending

Managed to get lucky with a 4th place finish at the Lake. We had a wrecking ball who enjoyed drifting around the track and eliminating the competition. But all-in-all, a good finish and I'm moving on up the in the standings.

Manufacturers
After my win way back in round 7 I've had a string of very poor results. Practice for round 13 was limited to the hour before the 11pm slot, but did manage a good few hot laps, a full 8 lap run with race settings and a simulated qualifying run so I knew what I needed to do to get 2 flying laps in at the end.

Qualified 5th :) and soon moved up to 4th. The majority of the race I was hounding a Subaru in 3rd but couldn't find a way past. He was quicker through the first sector but I seemed quicker through the rest of the circuit. I'd also noticed that he braked earlier than me for the tight left after the downhill esses, so that was where I was planning my move. On the penultimate lap though the Subaru ran wide at that corner exit and I was able to make the pass on the run into the last series of corners. I think their tyres must have been shot as I fairly quickly built a gap of over a second.

It was a huge relief to find myself back in the podium positions after what's felt a very long time, and not too bad points to boot.

Up to 15th for Mercedes (but exactly 1000 points from 10th) and 265th in EMEA (and 616 points from 200th).

I'll need some cracking results in the remainder of the races to get that S rank but it's good to have a target 👍

P.S. These races need to be longer!

I got 1,200 points! Not bad especially considering that it’s only the 2nd race I’ve done this season, I actually barely play at all anymore.

But I liked the combination of GT3 and Maggiore and put in some practice so it paid off! I qualified 2nd somehow (I drive McLaren 650) and was running 2nd for most of the race but made an error and finished 5th.

I wanted to try again at the next time slot but forgot :dunce:
Edit: Sucks that there’s 2hrs between races WTF man

Unfortunately for my points it was all top split races last night where I just wasn't competitive in the mustang. Finished somewhere in the bottom 5 each time.

Normally I'd be happy with being around 1s off @TRC_Stagger pace but it just wasn't enough yesterday to make anything happen.

Side note: I'm a little bit annoyed seeing drivers from other regions competing in NA top split rooms.

Did Big Willow yesterday with car number 20, over 900 points at the top meant it was the highest rated race I'd been in. Qualified 4th, ran okin fourth for almost two laps when I realised I didnt know where to brake on the final turn as the marker boards had been wipedout :banghead::dunce: Ended up 15th with the piranha pit of us lower B/S drivers in a pack, ended up 9th after finding myself on the outside of a turn and lucky for me (and bravo to them) they didnt elect to send me to the beach :bowdown::bowdown:
500+ points would have been my best points haul about 5 races ago, so . . .

Civic @ Willow = GOOD PD :cheers::cheers::cheers:

Off to do some tyre shreddind around Barcelona 👍

This is not good. Per the rules posted on the Gran Turismo website:

Multiple Accounts
If it is found that a competitor is participating through multiple PSN accounts, and/or is partaking in any activity that interfere with other competitors' races, said competitor may be disqualified from the Championships.

What is even more worrisome is the “may” part.

St Croix A on Wednesday. Hoping to really capitalize on the F1's straight line speed here and actually get a good qualy lap for once. No fuel saving; this would have had me celebrating in Gr.4, but driving slowly is the only thing that covers up the F1's understeer issue  Oh well, there are straights for that :p

Meanwhile, since the 4th best result started counting, I got moved up to P2 for McLaren and P105 overall in EMEA. Top 100 within reach again!

I had a horrendous Manufacturers race. First of all, the lobby was split perfectly between A- and D-rated drivers! Although it turned out none of the D-rated drivers were alt accounts, and were about 5s off the pace, I just blew it. My Citroen's tyres died on L6, and it was just too much. I must have spun off 5 times, twice into the barriers, and of course there was no reset like I'd get if, say, I'm recovering from a spin onto the run-off at T1/2 in Suzuka. I ended up 10th after beaching it on the infield of the banked hairpin and being unable to keep the car pointing the right way.
