Manufacturers:
Not a strong combo for me but 3 attempts to score more than 1300 points to get me closer to the top 200.

Attempt 1
Qualified 14th. Hard lobby but good race. Not enough points though.

Attempt 2:
Rock hard lobby. A Porsche decides that mid way through the chicane is a good place to try an overtake. I'm not expecting it, make contact and am given a penalty.

Attempt 3:
Last chance and placed in a lobby where I actually stood a chance at the points I needed. Alas, the game hangs here and I get disconnected.

I love GT Sport. I really do. But tonight I could have thrown my PS4 out the window. Decent points was a long shot anyway but ended up being a complete waste of time.

Seeded 20th, qualified 10th, finished 8th for 1500 something. Good enough.

Tire wear wasn’t nearly as bad as I feared. It seems like pitting at the end of lap 3 is the winning strategy. I pitted on lap 4 and only got by one of the cars that pitted on lap 3. A few people tried to no stop which seems foolish. Anyways, 16 Peugeots in the lobby, 3 86s, 1 Focus. One of the other 86s finished 6th so it’s still a viable option.

I still maintain my position that Alsace is by far the most fun track to actually RACE other people on in the game, at least on Sports tires. There’s multiple lines through almost every corner, and if you end up making contact it doesn’t usually result in too much of time lost for either party.

I had the best points result i've had, started 2nd but I knew I had more pace, & i'm always better in the race anyway

Ended up winning and snagging 1,433 points , and to sweaten the deal, the guy I took the lead from was some dude that snitched on me to Sony for talking **** and got me banned off PSN for a month.

hopefully manufacturers goes as well.

Well, it wasn't as terrible as I was expecting (Apart from one guy sqeezing me in the last turn and getting a penalty, then "Thanking me" for it at the end of the race). Didn't expect to have an Alsace race that didn't suck, but apparently that's possible.

Im excited ! I was driving the McLaren 650S in a lobby with S/S, A/S and B/S drivers.
I had 15 on the door and I FINALLY qualified well, just 1 sec off my best free practice times when all was said and done I started 6th.
I felt strong on this track and I ended up on the podium in 3rd ! Amazing evening for me. :gtpflag:

Good combo for Jaguar this one in manufacturers. First slot was strong but I bottled my qualy lap and made a massive mistake on lap 2. Finished 6th.

For my second try my qualy lap was a bit better but still far away from what I was doing in practice lobbies. Starting behind the 4c on this track and settings you simply can't fight it.

Peugeot points for this round:

Oceania - 0 (literally no one even attempted to race!)
Asia - 1
EMEA - 1
CSA - 1
NA - 1
Grand Total - 4

That's a record that may never be broken... until the next round... by Peugeot.

Lots of disconnections last night. Difficult to take FIA seriously now. Each update re- introduces old bugs. Disconnections obviously devastate that individual driver’s points, but also reduce the points for the entire lobby, due to the flawed points system. How hard can it be, to ensure that all of the patches and fixes are included, when updating the game ?

People may as well check if the “tyre change during a race using the options menu” flaw is now possible again or the “brake a little bit all the time” bug to get OP performance. Seriously.

My condolences to the SR of anyone who tries Nations tonight

Slidey cars, high tire wear and wide, banked, endless corners with constantly evolving braking points is a nasty combination

Is it only me who thinks these cars are a riot to drive, ive loved every GRB race ive done

I was able to try again at 10pm, got a reasonable result, 4th for 1140 points. My DR had dropped after the first race, and I was at the top end of the ratings in the second lobby, vs the lowest rated in the first lobby, so the lobby was quite a bit lower rated overall. I think I'm around the limit of where my driver rating can go, now, a net drop from the two races today, first time that has happened for a long time.

i wonder about some peoples ratings, the "S" rated driver in our race.. I thought they would just drive away.. obviously not judging by last night, Think they were "S" rated as no else plays in the country they are from :-D
I find the better the opponents the better the race, everyday is a learning day

I enjoy them a lot, the last race in them at Sardegna C was great fun and I had one of my highest ever scores from it, but if you get caught up in bumping you've got no chance of getting away. Alsace is a track that facilitates the grid being bunched together, so it's a lottery if you get a good result.

I was doing the Logitech G PC2 Online Cluster Final but we started late and finished just before the last nations slot, which I entered and screwed up and ended up on 82 SR so didn't even try the last manu slot. WOOOOOOO

I was just watching this

During the break between FIA seasons, any chance of certain cars getting updated?

Last night was a test of patience for me. I had very high hopes going into the evening because I had plenty of practice sessions with top drivers from all regions and the Mustang was very strong at Gardens.

I was hoping for a one and done scenario but we encountered a wild omen in the top split lobby. I have never witnessed such dirty driving in that environment.

Qualified P5 in the early room. Destroyed at the downhill hairpin by a chain reaction set off by the omen. Finished P12.

Qualified P5 in the middle room but with the point reduction my 4th place finish awarded me just enough points to squeak back into the top 16.

I took a gamble and ran the final race looking for any increase in points I could earn. Qualified P3 and finished P2, besting my lowest score by a few hundred points.

I’ll need to fight hard for R19 to maintain 16th in ranking but for now I can take a bit of a breather.

God I love these silly races sometimes.

Nations was a complete riot. Qualified well and thought I had good race pace, but got passed on the 1st lap and then spent 3 laps trying to work out how to get by. Tapped the guy in front a couple of times when he braked a little earlier than I expected, but he got his own back with a pretty good side on hit. Probably would have done better if I had pressed the X button to change tyres when I pitted, but thought I would give everyone a 5 second advantage. Oh well, managed 6th including a lot of fun on the last lap. Probably could have done better if I had gone again, but meh :)

Manufacturers is always harder in the sewing machine engined Mitsubishi, but Dragon Trail Gardens is one of those tracks where power isn't as important. Qualified 9th and had a good race with a couple of guys. I made a couple of big mistakes that cost me a couple of places, but I had great fun buzzing around in my fellow Brits mirrors for the majority of the race. Was quite happy with a solid result of 8th.

Yesterdays Manufacturers race was the pinnacle of the Balance of Performance being broken for front wheel drive cars. I was on average 1-1.5 seconds off per lap over the stint to the leaders. Cars span and took penalties and stayed ahead of the FF cars. They really need to just make a new class for the FF cars and get some replacement cars in for Peugeot, Audi and VW.

Giving everyone a 5 sec advantage is total sportsmanship :gtpflag:

Manu: Only had 1 shot at the final time slot. Gardens is another good track for the NSX. As expected I found myself in top split. I had a so-so qualifying so I felt fortunate to start P4. Stagger, Pelikan, and Cooper would be hard to catch. My pace was very consisetent and I stayed within 2 secs of them the whole way to finish P4.

Missed Nations race due to campus organization stuff going too long - so I responded by no-showing the Manufacturers race, too.

The Audi R8 GT4 is a thing for them, but what about Peugeot and VW? I thought quickly of their TCR cars (308 and Golf) and both are still, IIRC, FWD.

I did OK in the Alsace qualifying, but had to pause for too long whilst my cat did unspeakable evil in the litter tray. The driving whilst paused does my position no favours, so it seems a bit unfair to be disqualified but out of hundreds of races this is a first so whatever.

The upside was it harmed my SR so badly the next race I was matched with people equally as incompetent, and I managed a win in the Citroen for manufacturers!

Was about half a second off my PB in quali for manu which put me midpack rather than nearer to the front. I didn't really drive too well in the race but had a few battles and in the end gained a couple of positions compared to starting position but probably should've been better.

Peugeot and VW have no rear wheel drive cars at all, so maybe the best they could do would be some sort of hybridised version where they had electric power going to the rear? Saying that there is no reason that FWD and RWD cars cant race against each other if the BoP is correct, you just have to look at the BTCC races in the UK to see RWD BMW's going against FWD Vauxhall's and Honda's.

Preferably at some point @Tidgney will convince them to tweak the tyre wear slightly on the FWD cars and the Alfa and we will get a lot closer. Maybe offer them jaffa cakes?

Tyre wear seemed ok on my 4WD Mitsubishi in the last race, but I am not sure if that is just because it doesn't have the power to spin the wheels :)

Yesterday’s Manu was very frustrating, again.

The Lambo was definitely the quickest car in the gardens, but the 4WD made me struggle for tire life and I had 3 horrific laps in the end there.

I’ll take some time to decide if I’ll race the two remaining rounds. :(

While I definately can see several options for VW and the R8 GT4 pretty much being THE only good replacement for Audi, not sure I even can see a close to good replacement for Peugeot. Unless they want to somehow squeeze the TCR car in, but I feel like thats yet another twist to an already screwy BOP.

Ye for sure it's hard for Peugeot but this is why we have the VGT system I guess :D! Lets get a Peugeot VGT in gr.4 that isn't FWD, even if it's a modified RCZ I wouldn't mind. I know some of the handling cars struggle on the straights but I've never seen them 1-1.5 seconds off the pace per lap in an FIA race :(.

Honestly every time I go I complain about tyre wear haha. If I even see x12 for the group 4 cars at Salzburg I will be emailing back saying give us a chance at least! Maybe Jaffa Cakes would work, not tried that yet!

I still use the Peug though ;) The Peugeot e-Legend would do very nice in GR4 :D I am one of those stubborn people how really prefer to drive what they like and are fan of instead of running a car that is faster. I'll take this 1 or 1.5 second slowlyness since I ain't the fastest driver around, it isn't a huge loss

Matt be a VW Bug silhouette race car, similar to the Megane Trophy? Or a 4wd golf R? Peugeot, maybe a silhouette racer? For Audi they could get away by making the tt 4wd as well, quick fix.

I'm the same to be fair that's why I drove Peugeot last year and Audi this year but ye that was at gardens that time loss and it was so big that I genuinely think people in the top split felt sorry for me. TsuTsu waited for me at the line and let me finish 19th for giggles haha! It really was bad!

Did some practice sessions last night at Maggiore. The Mustang has the speed but this track poses a few obstacles for everyone. There are plenty of fast cars around the West layout but all of them have overlapping optimal lines and what seems like a large difference in avg. speeds through different sections. The short straights and wide width of the track make overtaking a game of who will compromise their line the most.

In my two fastest sessions, I battled an SLS and a 4C. If the 4C has clean air and breaks the slipstream it has no trouble pulling away and running low 24s. The SLS and Mustang were mirrored images of each other. Resulting in plenty of give and take moments.

We found that it was ultimately better to work together to maintain a decent pace then to battle. At one point I was door to door for nearly the entire lap with the SLS...our lap times during that battle were 1.5-2 seconds off race pace.

I’m hoping to find clean air and break the slipstream early and/or have a solid frenemy to team up with.
